That's a nice looking phone. HTC sure has many new and interesting models coming
I love this phone
looks GREAT to me
Finaly, Htc made their own big touch-screen, sure beats iPhone and Xperia (3.5 and 3.0):333
Tech and Os specs would be great !
Taken off of Engadget
I am using Hermes (AT&T). Was very tempted to get Kaiser. And I've been saving money for Touch Pro.... I really hope they will make Touch HD Pro with a slide-out keyboard and normal audio jack (not a mini-USB).
P.S. iPhone sucks!
looks good, kind of like the omnia. and actually, the iphone doesn't suck.

i don't think that it has an keyboard, its too small
If they ever release a CDMA version i'm getting one. If it has a capacitive touchscreen, i'll be in heaven.
I so want that, I posted earlier and now when I`ve seen specs etc. it looks promising.
I might upgrade my Kaiser to that when time comes
As nice as the phone looks to be, I can't help but say I'm disappointed in HTC. I feel they are oversaturating the market with products and not allowing any one phone to have some sort of longevitiy. This phone makes the Diamond the new Touch Cruise and the Touch Cruise the new Touch. Over time people will realize that if you wait a few months something much better is going to come out from HTC, so you may as well wait for it.
This is really shocking to see so soon after the Diamond, which really hasn't even had a chance to peak in the market if you ask me. Any potential sale they were going to have with the Diamond is probably gone now. HTC needs to consolidate their offerings to put out better spec'd equipment and to give people their money's worth.
But still, nice phone.
Here is what I posted on the other thread with some pictures I am using from the original post over at the other forum...
Here are some more pictures....taken from here:

I kinda feel the same way. I was just getting ready to upgrade my Sprint Touch for the soon to be released Touch Diamond, but then I see this which is just about perfect for my needs.
I'll probably still get the Touch Diamond for now and plan to upgrade next in 2009 to a WM7 device, well unless this gets a capacitive touchscreen then it'll have to be mine.

Notice how the baby does not have a joystick?
How are you going to Scroll Zoom without that Capacitive JoyPad?
Not to start the Rumour Mill or anything but..... Maybe you should be a nice boy so Santa takes good care of you
Just let me dream a bit here.
agree, cannot imagine how to use windows mobile without d-pad? is it a fault?
Really a nice model!
Only problem I see, there is no keyboard... but still is a good candidate
Screen is 3.?" right?
I've got to say I love my HD. Almost everything about it... The big let down for me is the camera. I can get some fantastic shots out in the open during the day. But go inside and introduce people to shot and its a crock of ****. I've got the topaz cam cab installed but it makes little difference. Nearly all pictures of my kids come out blurry.
So, I've started looking around for what to get next. Sadly, at the moment, I dont seem to be able to find anything that comes close to my expectations. That Toshiba TG01 sounds good, but I hate the look of it. I like the look of the HTC Hero, but reviews let it down, saying its essentially a magic with a style upgrade.
What are other people considering after their Touch HD's?
The Omnia II looks like a great phone and would be the phone I would upgrade to, but since its not a HTC phone it gets no XDA support which could be a big blow (is for me). If your okay with that, I'd recommended the Omnia II.
It feels as if we have come to the end of the road whit the Blackstone,
yet there is nothing new at the horison.
The next thing I expect from a phone is multitouch, still only iPhone
has that to offer. Isnt that strange?
Basicly Id like a HTC Hero whit better hardware, multitouch and something new...
Read about nVidia haveing a new better chipset and prosessor.
When will that hit the market?
I agree with you KB, lack of XDA support is a big no no for me as well.
Ethania, pardon me being a newb, but what defines a multitouch device?
Which current HTC product has the best camera?
I'm looking for something with mindows mo/symbian, better camera with flash, no bigger than the touch hd and lots of programs to play with.
Currently looking at the Omnia 2, Omnia HD, N97/86 or waiting for HTC to make a phone with a decent camera. I played with a mates SE C905 yesterday and I could see myself going for the Omnia 2 or Omnia HD for the camera - miles better than anything on a HTC device.

I would say:
A device which tracks more than one point on the screen simultaniously.
How does that sound? Maybe Im forgetting some important technical term,
but for us mortals, I think this is enough
i wish id held out for an n97 having been a nokia man for years naturally i wanted a n97 but im on o2 and they dont want to sell it because here in the uk that's who you get an iphone with, so i got a touch hd and im deeply disappointed no 3d graphics, crap camera, no native networking/file sharing support, slow wifi transfer speeds, crap video playback, poor music player all things i could do out of the box without hasstle on my old 1st gen n95! not to mention its SLOW!!!
i shouldn't have to hack n mod my phone to make it work reasonably
touch hd for sale 2 months old good as new !!lol!!
sorry if im ranting just for my first winmob im not impressed

If you don't mind waiting, the HTC Firestone/Leo is suppose to come this year and is supposed to be the successor to the BlackStone/HD. I think it upgrades all of the hardware.

Thank you Killer Bee, this is exactly what Im looking for
Hopefully the camera will be better in low light situs than the touch HDs cam.
The Leo looks effing brilliant
I like the Omnia 2 but couldn't stand the dangling stylus! Why can't they build it into the device!
I like the HTC design but is disappointed with its quality. My HD has to go back to service twice and the service centre is in another state so the turnaround is slow.
After sales service is important for me and I understand there is a Samsung walk-in service centre here in Sydney Australia.
The NEXT PHONE...
Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 (Rachael)...
Excellent Now I have two to choose from when they arrive, the X3 and the Leo
To be fair Ive always got on well with Sonys. The cameras are always tip top on them.
walkin service sounds like a winner - I like the fact that there are many SE ad Nokia centres around the UK but I'm yet to see a drop in HTC one - although their base is in Milton Keynes which is in the next county - still too far and too many annoying roundabouts!

The Zii isn't a phone though.
did a quick research and I think there are three or maybe 4 devices to wait for -- SE X2 , SE X3 , HTC Leo -- theyre all almost equal by spec except Leo has more ram (screen size doesnt count ) the fourth device (60% that Im wrong) could be the rumored HTC device with Nvidia chipset-- I have a big "I dont know or Im confused" about that device, cuz maybe its the Leo with the chipset!!!
BTW: what happened to those rumors about microsoft phone with tegra??
sorry - double post - some connection issues!

They were just that, rumours.
The upcoming Zune HD will use the Tegra chipset but, like the Zii that was linked-to on the previous page, it's just a media player.
I really like my G1 but i'm thinking on upgrading to a new phone in a couple of months...the phone that have been in my mind actually is the Nokia N900...but now with the nice looing N1 things have change...now so far what i know is that the Htc Bravo is gonna have a better camera but a less RAM that the N1...and is gonna have the Sense UI...which i like...anyway any comments on this?
where did you hear that?
I'm not to sure on the camera part but I did hear it's got 320MB of Ram.
I heard that too but where did you hear it was going to have a better camera? Also none of the stuff about the RAM is confirmed, although Sense UI is most definatly going to be included, but the Nexus One with a custom sense UI rom will be able to run sense UI better anyway if the part about the RAM is true.

actually it has a addition of a five megapixel AF cam capable of 720p video capture

That would be the same camera as the N1. I may be biased but I would say that the Nexus One wins against the Bravo hands down.
I'd just get the Nexus One so you can have a snap dragon phone now then you can install a Sense rom when that comes out.

Actually the Bravo has a snapdrangon too....i really like the way it look and i think the optical "balltrack" looks awesome...
Look man, the camera is probably going to be the same. The Nexus One will have more RAM, and therefore a Sense UI Custom ROM on the Nexus One will run smoother than any Sense UI ROM on the Bravo. Its pretty clear that the choice, assuming you plan to root the phone and install a custom ROM, is the N1.
I like the optical "trackball" a lot better too. I just think that Google would do software updates more/faster than HTC. And I don't care for the Sense UI anymore. Vanilla Android (with tweaks from xda members) is enough for me.

The optical trackpad is fascinating, if they could light the trackpad with a tri-color led, then I would be interested more.
I think Google was aware of the Bravo when HTC made the Nexus One. They probably were okay with HTC releasing a phone with the same core hardware as the N1 (minus the extra RAM).
EDIT: For me the big incentive for the N1 is the "generally" Vanilla install. With my Sprint Hero, I removed the extras. A lot of people like Sense though, but I waited for a while and realized that Sprint wasn't going to release updates in a timely manner. If I had to rely on anyone for updates, I'm more comfortable relying on Google (and occasionally HTC) for them.

The n1 and bravo have the same hardware. Bravo will come with sense and wont be rushed like the n1 was. Google released the n1 early to try to beat the other (bravo) snapdragon phones coming out. Why would you buy the n1 over the bravo if you seen the bravo with HTC sense? I love my n1 but now i kinda wish I would of waited for the more polished bravo. You may ask why more polished? I bet it wont have 3g issues, dust under the screeen and alignment issues. All of the n1 issues could have been fixed before launch.
Im assuming its CDMA ? Thatd be weird to drop this one on GSM bands so quickly unless its ATT.
Love the optical trackball alot.
I hope those expresso videos Ive seen arent accurate, sense UI looks seriously uglified.

Rushed like the N1 was? Simply because SOME people are having 3G connection issues, and SOME people are having dust under the screen means it was rushed? This means that the manufactures aren't "manufacturing" the device correctly obviously (not the 3G part). I don't believe it was rushed, I just think they don't know how to make the device at wherever they are shipping it from. If anything, this same exact thing could possibly happen to the Bravo - if they haven't learned from these past mistakes.
This 3G issue seems simply retarded, and I have no way of helping the N1 out on it sadly. I can't see why people would be having connectivity issues. That, I must admit, I guess is an issue that the N1 has. But people are making such a big, please note an - unnecessary - deal out of these issues just to bash the device..not cool >.>

hey,
I'm currently using lg eve and i'm really interested by htc sense UI and I was wondering is it worth buying since the processor is only 528 MHz plus is the multi touch on the hero similar to the iphone?
-someone might have asked this same question i couldn't find it-(lazy)
lol, i wouldnt have the nexus one ( 1 Ghz) if i could. I love the hero so much, its perfect haha. well, with an update coming in mid february, it will hopefully be perfect;p
id say go for it
and it has capacitive touch screen, so its basically the same sensitivity as the ipodtouch/iphone.
and in browser, 2 finger pinch to zoom, is "almost" as smooth as in the iphone...
if your deciding between iphone/hero... go with the hero, multitasking pwns
No you should get the HTC Legend which is the 2nd gen hero
You can find it here

Absolutely!
Paid fourhundred euros for my first one which I lost The next day I bought another one for 350.

The sense UI doesn't work for me. I don't need 7 homescreens and it slows my phone down. Pleeaase don't compare it to the iPawn. they're two completely different things. but I should tell you that multitouch is enabled by HTC it soesn't work natively in android 1.5, it only works in the browser and in albums
edit: but after the update to 2.0 it will support multitouch!
in my opinion, no its not worth the money i paid, however i have bought one, and will keep it for a while.
you'd be far better off getting a G1 and flashing it to the latest 2.1 rom.

well, guys I'm getting the hero tomorrow and thanks for the replies, it really made a difference
I love my hero too... it the best phone i ever had!!
side question to all...

so each time.. it would be for a better phone.
so.. would we not love each new phone.. THE BEST!

Hi guys,
I've been really itching to get a second phone with a good qwerty keypad and I am really considering a G1. I just tried one out and and the screen resolution and sensitivity is kinda disappointing but I still want one lol
Can anyone tell me whats it like to use the G1 as a daily driver? Is it painfully slow? What about mobile browsing compared to the n1? or the hero? how slow is the g1?
I've used the Hero before and mobile browsing experience was painfully slow. There were times wherein everything really slowed down and I had to reboot everything just to get things done.
Also, whats the best and fastest 2.1 sense rom for daily use? 1.5 sense? Are the froyo roms running well on the G1 or are they really just for novelty?
Thanks!
It's a decent phone, esp. If you get it rooted with the 2.1 Mod. But, it's starting to show it's age after 2 years, and many apps/programs on the phone will slow it down a bit.
Plus, the camera, while it takes good pictures, is lacking. No real Video (w/o the mod), no Flash and no Zoom (but you can do it after you take the pic, WTF).
But as one of the few GSM physical keyboard Smartphones, It's ok, but like I've said, it's age is starting to show, so in like a year you will probably wanna get another phone.

Please, No!..
Youll regret buying such a relic, youre better off buying a G2 when its released later this year...The G1 is the ancestor to all the other phones, you should NOT buy the G1, it struggles to handle 1.6+ w/o....But with a newer phone you can enjoy all features without giving up performance, i just got a slide and its the bomb...But im giving her up to save for the g2 instead...YOU WILL be disappoint...That's a promise.
LOL, thanks for the input guys!
Almost made the mistake of buying, I was kind of expecting performance similar to the Hero or Magic but I guess not. I also tried the touchpro2 and it is a total piece of crap ) Resistive screens does the phone no justice and the OS is just clunky.
Why are there still devs working on the G1 if it can't even handle 1.6 properly? For novelty?

Oh it can handle 1.6 just fine. but 2.1 sucked noodles for so long. Right now Froyo is not bad at all on the G1 though, i use HTC Clay's build off cyanogen and it works perfectly fine for me, it's been like 3 days since i first installed the rom and it's good. It is awesome for how long it's put out, but i bet every g1 owner including myself is just itching to buy their next smartphone asap!
you should wait for the G2, i think everyones gonna jump ship there, im personally waiting to see what the hell is project emerald.

If you try a stock rom then use one of the 2.1+ roms, the stock is much faster...I personally tried this experiment, my stock, nonrooted G1 was much faster than the one clocked all the way to 576...Thats a damn shame. Overclocking is supposed to help speed things by a lot. Dont get me wrong i appreciate their hard work, but the hardware just cant handle the OS correctly.
Whoa, I have the same question! I was looking at buying a G1, since I have simple needs and I enjoy annoying people who technolust over the newer phones.
But if it struggles during those simple needs (ordinary phone stuff and youtube quality video) then I guess I'll wait.

I dont use mobile youtube, but it can do stuff like call, text, web just fine...The froyo browser seems kind of jerky on the G1 for me. your better off getting a Galaxy S/Vibrant/Fas/Epic or the G2.
I have a plain vanilla g1. I have used text messaging a lot, make very few calls (just not that into talking on the phone) internet browsing mostly, google navigation, picture taking, reading e-books, etc. I would say it is an ok phone for those things, however, that said, I am definitely looking to see what comes out this fall. I have been reading about a lot of the cool things android can do past the 2.0 barrier and want to upgrade for those reasons. If you are considering the g1 and do not mind that the community has gone beyond the hardware, and are not all that interested in apps, it is a good solid workhorse. If you are app envious, wait. Just tossing in my .02 from someone who does not root and rom. Hope this helps your decision.
The only reason I can stand using the G1 is because I have an iPhone 3GS as my main phone. My G1 is just to mess around with Android. Works great for that.
Don't get the G1 if you want a new phone though. Wait for the G2. It looks awesome.
I agree. Don't get a G1. It is definitely showing its age.
