Sometimes, I've 2 problems at the same time:
1-st i can't send sms. Tapping the SEND, but there is no reaction, it just stays doing anything.
2-nd i Phone tab in Settings>Personal doesn't open. I am tapping on Phone tab and there is no reaction, it just stays doing anything.
I think that this 2 problem linked with each other. They both appear and then disappear at the same time.
Once i turned on the flight mode from Commanager. Then i tapped the Phone tab from Settings>Personal, there was a notification that the phone is cuurrently off and if would i like to turn it off. I tapped YES. after device turned on, both problems ad gone.
Can somebody help me to remove this problems completely?
First, try hard reset. Don't forget to backup all your data from internal memory, contacts, calendar etc. because you'll loose it after hard reset.
If it doesn't works, try another Radio ROM.

I've flashed it several times with ONYX by dsixda. The radio ROM version is now 03.21.90. It's the latest version.

I have a problem with my tytn and messages.
I have a messages in my messagesbox, not much. I deleted some of those messages and do a soft reset at my phone. When i open messagebox again, all those deleted messages are back. I look what´s the problem and i discovered that all my messages witch i had received after 15.2.2007 will all missing and before 15.2 received messages will return to my messagebox, even that i permanetly deleted all those messages. So, it´s look like my messagebox gets somewhere "message-backup" wich has been taken 15.2.2007.
I did a hard reset and try if the problem will disappear. First that works fine, my messagebox worked as it´s use to work, but now it´s doing all the same things as before. Except now when i do a softreset, all my messages is disappeared.
Sorry my bad english, hope you understand what i´m writing about.
I can only think it works this way, when you do a soft reset it is like pressing the reset button on your pc?! so if Messaging is running when you reset you lose ALL unsaved changes. If you leave outlook alone for a bit the changes take effect (deleting and recieving messages?!)
What u need to do next time before u soft reset your device is turn off ur phone and wait for about 15 to 20 seconds so the mem will be written to ur phone rom. See if it helps.
Now i turn off the power and wait couple minutes and switch power on. All messages was still in my messagebox. Now, when i do a softreset, my messagebox will be same, as it was after i switch thge power off. So, it´s like making a "message backup" when i turn the power off and on. When i do softreset, my messaqgebox will return as same as it was after last power off/power on. So, what´s the problem`Do i have to bring my phone to serviceguys?
First off, I haven't found this on a search
Surely I and my wife cannot be the only people to suffer the loss of text messages received but not opened if the battery goes flat?
To confirm, we get an SMS (or an email) and without opening it reset the machine (say if it locks up) or the battery goes flat and on charging it resets automatically, when reloaded the SMS (or email has gone).
Emails are fine, still on the server so downloadable again; SMS gone forever!
Known 'feature', problem solved years ago or I am a numpty?
I have encountered the same problem several times with different ROMs(WM5, WM6). Can this get fixed?

I don't think this is a ROM issue, more a device bug.
That said, anything that can force the device to save all messages received, not just those that have been read would be most welcome!
I think it has been explained somewhere by someone and also maybe me.
Basically, to ensure that your messages (read or unread) is saved, at least press the power button (if the set is not hang) to bring it to power off, afterwhich you can do anything including reset.
If already hang after received message before you can press power button, too bad, it will never come back.
It is not really a bug, there is a technical explaination behind this, but too long to explain.
The technical explanation is simply: "Caching!".
The system caches data in RAM and writes it down to Flash every once in a while - or upon power off.
So if you reset while the data (i.e. your unread SMS in this case) is still in RAM, it will be lost.
Cheers,

So, is there a way to force the device to write down to flash whenever it receives a message?
Qmail used to save emails when they were received (I used it before I overcame the issues from using pop Gmail), but I would rather force messaging to save messages than use a third party message reader.

Right on ! ! !
Writing to Flash is part of the Pesistent Memory concept in WM5, in which when it is restore upon reset from the Flash and not the RAM (which is cleared upon reset). While WM2003SE is not the case.

Very simple! Just wait for about 10 sec upon receiving your SMS before resetting
What seems to have worked for me when it happens, is taking the battery out instead of soft resetting. The message is saved when I reinsert the battery and power up.
Not sure how safe that is though...

Quite! (Well actually not at all)
Just that doesn't work if you leave your XDA and the battery goes flat before you read it or the whole thing locks up and you need to reset....

Worth a try I suppose, thanks.
Last night my ATT8525 phone, which I've had for several years, suddenly stopped playing the ringtone for incoming calls. All other sounds have been tested and working, including playing music. I've tried changing the volume of both the device slider and ring slider to vibrate, then to off, then back on. All levels of volume on both sliders.
Another strange problem is if I go into settings to Sounds & Notifications, if I click OK on any setting it goes to the Incoming Call setting. It doesn't close the screen out anymore. I can click OK, turn off the sounds, set it to something different, clicking OK no longer accepts the setting. If I go to another setting other than for Phone: Incoming Call, then clicking OK brings me back to that option.
I've done a soft and hard reset. Any ideas?
Thisstrange indeed. The rear speaker is used for the phone ring and clearly this is ok because you can play music (I am assuming you were not using headphones to test the music).
Before you said you had done a hard reset, I would have sworn that would cure the problem. This may seem cheeky but I assume you really have done a hard reset (some folks think they have but haven't really). Can we assume you used the two soft keys plus the stylus in the hole method?
If so it may be worth trying another couple of times.
Temporarily at least, if that fails, it may be worth trying to flash a different ROM. However, before that, perhaps you should wait to see if anyone else has some words of wisdom.
Mike
Thanks for the response. You are correct, I wasn't actually doing a hard reset. If I do a hard reset, I assume I lose all my settings and go back to the fresh ROM state?

Yes you lose all data that you have saved to the phone, including all installed applications. Data on the storage card remains ok. However, even if you installed an app to the storage card, you may still have to reinstall it.. Some might say you should do a full backup of the full system with the likes of SPB full backup, BUT if you were to restore the ful back-up after a hard reset, you would probably just put back the fault you are trying to resolve!
Mike
I can't really find a good suggestion but to Flash the ROM. But as mikechannon said, rule # 1 is to make a backup. Maybe you can use PIM Backup, so that only the contact and others are only the ones backed up. Your problem may reoccur for full system backup, as mentioned above.
Thanks
Just following up that the hard reset did fix the problem with the phone not ringing on incoming call. Also thanks for the PIM backup suggestion. This saved me a lot of time.
No problem.. Just here to help.. Peace..
same same

I have the same problem and I tried Hard Resetting-no sound except with headphones. I started on friday with it not ringing when I had a call but now there is no sound at all. Any suggestions anyone????
After updating to the official 2.53 Rom, my TD2 froze twice when i was typing sms and adding contacts to my favorites. This is the first time it completely froze and I had to take out the battery to 'restart'.
And I noticed the top right icon - task manager is gone and I have no idea what are some of the applications that is still running or did not close properly.
Does anyone knows how to fix it ?
updated yesterday, and now its verrry slow. there are some fixes about the task manger, but i just put a shortcut in the slidy bar.
ya..its running very slow.. and what shortcuts did you put?
Slow my ass, it runs faster than the previous ROM (sense 2.1) -.-
WWE:2.53.405.5 - Standby of Death / SOD
Hi,
I recently upgraded my HTC Touch Diamond 2 to ROM WWE:2.53.405.5 with HTC Sense. Ever since I've had issues with either a very, very slow device between anything OR worse still the Standby of Death (SOD) issue.
In the past I have fixed the SOD issue by changing from auto/auto (as explained in other posts) but with the new HTC Sense layout I don't seem to be able to access those options???
I love this phone and I really like the new HTC Sense layout. If anyone could help I would be grateful!
Thanks
Did you make HR after flashing your phone?
The new ROM really good, it's working without any problem.

Ah, just twigged - Hard Reset?
Wouldn't a hard reset set the phone back to winmo 6.1 and the touchflo interface though?
How do I do a hard reboot on the Touch Diamond 2 - do I need to remove the simcard to do it?
Its recommended after any rom flashing to do a HR ( Hard Reset ), i flashed some days ago the official rom and did a HR and no problems soo far.

The HR will only reset your phone ( rom 6.5 ) to the factory settings. If u had 6.5 installed will reset to 6.5 factory settings, if 6.1 to 6.1 factory settings, and soo on.
A HR will erase all of your contacts ( phone ones ), msgs, programs on phone,settings,... To do the HR: turn off the phone>when its off>hold both volume buttons ( up&down ) and press shortly the power button> there will appear a white screen with onscreen instructions ( follow them to proceed ). To be sure back up all of your contact and what u need, if u wont u could remove the sim card ( i did it with sim card in ).

Is it the power button (top) I press when holding volume up/down or the small red button inside the phone (by the battery)?
It's the first one.

OK, I tried the hard reset. Generally it has speeded up the system but I still have a problem with Standby of Death (SoD) when the 3g / GPRS is turned on.
How do I get to the auto/auto settings with this ROM installed?

I've found the band settings but what do i set it to so i can avoid SoD?
...I give up. It doesn't seem to matter what I set the band to I get SoD.
...I can get SoD just by pressing the power button and then trying to start it again a few seconds later.
...I can turn off the Data connection and stop everything from using it / making it boot and it STILL get SoD.
I'm starting to regret "upgrading" to this ROM now

Couple of questions;
Is this a stock ROM you downloaded through HTC with S/N or are you HSPL'd?
Did the ROM come with a Radio ROM?
I suspect its the radio that is causing your issue.
I think I've solved it.
I could not connect to my pop3 email, Outlook seemed to have a problem. I think the Outlook data is stored with the text message data.
So, I logged in to Microsoft MyPhone on the web, archived 2000+ text messages and then sync'd the device with MyPhone (removing the archived texts from the device).
Since then I have not had a single SoD and the device is working really fast. pop3 mail in Outlook now connects without problem.
I've even switched the band back to auto/auto and still no SoD.
I have 25mb more free memory than before when I had the problems.
This is really strange.
Background - I loaded a cooked rom from here over a year to get rid of Orange Uk branding and it has worked fine. And I use s2U2 all the time.
Today I was getting "Shortage of Memory" messages repeatedly, so I tried to clean up the memory. The only thing I did was remove Google Maps because I had installed it into main memory months ago and not onto the storage card.
I then re-installed Google Maps onto the storage card.
Google Maps worked ok. I then pressed the top button to turn the screen off. But when i wanted to use the phone a few minutes later, the phone did not react - just a blank screen. So I thought it had crashed, so removed the battery and rebooted.
But whenever I pressed the top button the screen goes blank and will not react when pressing the button again. Even stranger - when I ring the phone, with the screen blank or not, the phone does not ring but the vibrate stays on continuously - even when I hangup the calling landline phone - and the answer buttons do not work -so I cannot answer a call. The phone just locks up. Have to remove battery to reset. Also the volume control button works - but no sound is issued when going up and down the volume bar.
However, I can make calls - as long as I don't receive one.
I have remove s2u2 and re-installed in case it is a registry setting that would be reset by re-installing.
It appears to do random things now - sometimes the top button blanks the screen - sometimes it dosn't.
Any ideas? Could the registry be completely messed up?
Well, it was really really strange. Just different things happening each time I removed and re-inserted the battery.
In the end did a hard reset (Volume down, Select, power on) and that reset everything. All ok now. Re-installed su2u - all ok. Just now need to reinstall GczII and ACR etc etc.
First time I have ever needed to hard reset since I loaded a cooked rom over a year ago - so not bad!
I can recommend microsoft myphone - at least all my contacts etc were etc.
Happy bunny again!
