When turning on my trinity, I have the welcome screen "running" up and having a white stripe in the middle, well just look at the picture.
I just cant turn on my trinity.
If somone have idea how to fix this, please.
thanks in advance.
I'm having the exact same problem for weeks now!!
The first thing i tried was removing the sd card, and replacing the battery,
this seems to fix the problem for a small period of time (up to 1 day).
Don't be fooled, the problem will return when you need your phone the most
Reflashing the device with the same/different ROM has no effect!
Being an electronics engineer, i carefully checked all the connectors inside the screen, and everything is connected as it should be..
If anyone has any suggestions.... ?
Sjerby, one thing you can try to temporary revive your phone is this:
-Remove the back cover and take out the battery
-Plug in the charger, do NOT use the usb cable!!
-Put the battery back in, but don't try to power on the phone
-Leave the phone to charge for at least 20-30min
-Power it back on. You might have to push the power button twice for it to respond.
My findings are that the device somehow uses more power than the battery can
supply, but using a brand new fully charged original battery does not fix the problem!
ummm... the phone DOES work once in a while but it get stuck fast after, somtimes it just show's a black screen.
and i have no charger i use usb cable to charge it, i forgot the charger in a vecation ><
and just for the record the camera is having problems aswell if it makes to turn on

Problem indeed.... Firstly, I wish I could offer some constructive solutions, but afraid not.... it does sound like a worn battery, and maybe worth trying (or borrowing) another one to flash?
I take it as you refer to it as an 'Exec' that it is the O2 branded one? If it is, from my experience with the O2 technical support, they really don't have a clue. I would assume that they would send an exec straight to HTC for testing. It's a complete last resort, but if you were to tell them that your unit was dead and they were to take it in, they wouldn't be able to solve the problem before they sent it back to HTC. This is of course after you have clarified it's not just a dead battery cell.
Best of luck with the thread and hoping someone a bit more experienced can help.
So, let me get this straight, your universal does not turn on (and by turn on I mean that you see the familiar wm5 screen with your apps, etc.), no matter what have you done, and the only way to have the charging led on is by connecting it to USB port with the battery removed?
If this is the case, you might have a dead internal battery charging/power supply circuit, i have repaired some old Ipaqs with this failure, most of them failed due to a defective battery, easily recognized by overheating when the unit was placed in charge, usually the overheating increased slowly in time (months usually).
I don't want to be misunderstood, but all these devices have a way of turning of the LCD backlight, a long pressure on the on button does this, it can restores with the same long pressure, see if this is not your case.
If you have some electrical problem with your PDA you might take it to repair or you could try to do it yourself -if you're able to do it obviously-.
Anyway, try to get yourself another battery (you might ask for it to someone else with a uni), put it on and see.
I'm also assuming that you have tried to hard reset your device.
good luck

Look maybe this will give you some hope. Yesterday I took my Htc Typhon (smartphone) after a long time, the battery was die. I tried to charge via usb, and nothings happened, then I tried to use a usb charger and nothing happened neither. Finally I charged the battery alone on an universal battery charger and after 30 minutes my phone was alive again.
Hope it will help you!

hi thanks for the reply i have had the same on a m600 ,would not charge from usb or car kit but did start with mains charger
i have tryed hard reset but it will not do that either
battery is stuck at 3.7v even after trying to discharge it with a small bulb
thanks
John...
This is something I've had happen in the past.
Try taking the battery out, and put it into a ziplock back, and place it in the freezer for a few hours. I know, I know, it sounds ridiculous. But sometimes, just sometimes, it will reactivate the cells, and you'll be able to charge it after that.
well done o2 uk
well as said before took my phone back to the O2 shop and sent it off to the service centre. The report came back that the main board US .not only did i get a new exec but But a new boxed one and a full set of all original parts !!
i had this problem when i first got my SPV m5000..i took it to the orange shop...(the people where nice) they kept it for few testing and said...
battary was faulty...so they gave me a new battery XD

The problem appears to be caused when battery has more or less zero charge and perhaps fooling the charging circuitry into not recognising a battery is in place.
So - Force charge the battery without the Charger
If your problems remain you could always try the following to manually charge the battery a little (enough to let the Hermes know the battery is present when you put it back in) credit for this goes to triposte as the following is adapted from his suggestion:
Those with a basic knowledge of circuitry and things technical will fair better with this solution. The electrical contacts are all important, poor contacts will render this a worthless exercise.
I leave it to you to decide how you connect the wires. If you have no other means you could enlist the help of someone to hold the batteries and wires together while you connect to the Hermes battery!
1) Remove the battery from the phone!
2) Take 3 fresh AAA batteries in series (total 3 x 1.5V = 4.5V)
3) Connected the (+) wire to (+) on the battery
4) Connected the (-) wire to (-) on the battery
5) Hold this in place for 60 seconds.(possibly longer you are trying to charge it enough for charging circuitry to recognise there is a battery installed.)
6) Put the battery in your phone
7) Switch on phone and start charging (via USB)
Hopefully you will get the Amber charging light.
It may be worth repeating this a few times if not successful on the first try.
Warning - Do not connect a mains based transformer to the battery with an incorrect charge rate (mAh) and voltage (V). Any attempt to force charge using mains transformers could be extremely hazardous (explosive). Only a qualified/competent person should attempt to charge the battery in this way. Similarly, even if you are using batteries to do this task, do not leave them connected for more than a few minutes and stop immediately if either set of batteries become warm.
If the problem persists it is worth re-trying the solution you mentioned in your post as well as the above, before giving up.
The final resort - a new battery.
Mike
hi ive tried wat you hav asked but still not red light or amber ligh it shws no light at all i dnt understand how its gone from working 1 minute to completely not working in another

Yes, I know. It has been reported by quite a few and is actually quite a common problem (relatively speaking) across several phone brands and types.
The solutions you have tried have worked for some, not all. One or two found that it randomly (seemingly) just started charging again.
Your problem is whether to return the device as defective (hopefully under warranty) or whether to chance just getting a new battery. A battery will be fine if it is the usual battery problem, but if not then you'd have wasted money. If you have access to a retailer where you could access a battery just to test it that would be ideal.
Mike
I seem to remember having the same (similar?) problem on my old Universal - I think the solution in that case was to take the battery out for 10 minutes, then put it back in and then connect the phone up to the mains charger, rather than to the USB connection on your PC. The phone needed to be left off (not difficult with a completely flat battery ) and then seemed to charge....
Just a thought, not sure if it's been tried in this case?
Mark.
Help....seems that my Magician is dead....making a long phone call (1 h) after call end, display switch off and Notification led become fix Blue (bluethoot was off) and then i try to hard reset. Led switch off and no results. I try then to put the power supply cable and the led become RED.... !!! (neve seen red.....) pda is not switching on anymore...any details on the reason of this RED light ???....please.....
thanks in advance
Red LED means the battery isn't connected or the device can't charge.
Try taking the battery out for a few hours and try to switch the device on again.
My brother in-law had the red LED issue too, we solved it by 'kick starting' the battery with two wires and a 9v battery. (At your own risk of course).
Good luck!

Red Led doesn't mean that the battery is not connect with the device. It simply means the cover is not properly intact. Try taking out the battery off the device, put it back in the slot. Place the cover carefully and completely. And then connect the device to AC power supply. It would definitely come *alive*
still dead....grrrr
so cover is ok...it seems to be properly fixed, even the smal swithch that create some unwanted crash few months ago is now working properly...
i made a 1 h long phone call with battery and charger (usb from pc) and after line felt down, bluetooth led blue on (was off) and screen with phone but no changement by touching it. so switch off by power off and ...dead...now without battery but with charger (or usb from PC) RED led on. With batttery AND charger RED on, and with battery all dead. i cannot reset anyhow with or without battery /charger....need it...sh*t.....(ops...sorry)
thanks a lot anyway....

what I will suggest is, you should get a new battery instead!!
Got the same problem now!
Both my wife and me got a Magician. Hers is dead now - same symptoms.
First guess was dead battery as well. But I exchanged it with mine fully loaded. No difference!
Usually when you plug the powercord into the device orange flashes up and device boots. Here nothing happens.
I'll have some electrician have a look at both. Maybe he can find the fault by comparison. But I don't expect a lucky outcome.
on back side of ur device when u remove the battery cover, u see a small black switch on the right side just next to the battery.
put the device on charge..with cover off---it will show red light contunuously on.
now manually press gently that black switch and see if ur device starts to charge.
if u see a yellow light any point of time doing this u may have to get this little switch repaired or do a temporary work urself by kepping it at place manually bu something.
try and tell
Now it works!
I think we all knew about that little switch. But thanks for your thoughts.
Anyway, hers is running again!
Two days ago I took it fully apart. No obvious fault noticeable. I left it the way it was now to prepare it for shipping. Today my wife asked me I should try it just once again. So I held the battery on the connector and plugged the USB cable and then: it booted!
But the internal battery doesn't seem to recover. It stays at 0% (1h "charging" since then).
I have to correct myself: Even the internal battery is charging (but it takes its time).
my magician is also dead and just the red LED is burning when i put it in the USB! Can anybody help me?
Still ned solution!
Can some one who was having the same problem help?
your device battery detector switch(little switch) is broken or logged-out of Main Board.
when it broken, the red LED is on at all.
it is the greatest weakness of magician...

i am opening my jam case, bring the switch out and conecting sides of switch by a piece of wire.now a day there no problem with openning the battery case or.. but my WM cant recognize the battery level.it's alway 0%.and even the charger is connected no orange led i can see.but the charger charge the battery and battery works for more than one day!!!!!!!!
any one with the same problem!????
or any one having solution!
REGARDS
I'm gettingn red led light too when charging from wall outlet. Charging from usb is fine. a weird thing is when my battery came down to 50%, imate jam will shut down and won't successfully reboot. some people from this form mentioned it's an indicator that the battery is dying.
SITUATION
My Cingular 8500 does not power on. I have tried connecting it to wall charger as well as USB cable. The red or the orange light also does not come on. I tried all resets also but nothing worked.
BACKGROUND
a. My phone suddenly went off when I was opening the sliding keyboard. It had a decent (60%) charge at that time. After this it refuses to come on.
b. Only addition to the phone in the last 3 months has been a 2GB MicroSd Card. I inserted this card 4 days back and it was working fine.
c. The device is around 6 months old (but its unlocked, running WM6 and does not have any warranty)
d. I have been using the original wall charger to charge this phone regularly.
HELP REQUIRED
1. Is there a way to check if the problem is with the battery or with the phone? I do not have a spare battery.
2. Should any light come on if I connect the phone to charger without the battery inserted in it?
Thanks!
Try this:
1.) Remove battery
2.) Connect Hermes to charger or USB
3.) Insert the battery while Hermes is connected to charger
4.) Red light should turn Amber
5.) Soft Reset
i have the same situation going on ... except with mine the screen faded out...it came back on once...and faded out again and will not turn back on.. when i put it on the charger it was a red light.. and will not turn on or soft reset, or enter bootloader or hard reset. .. in addition i tried the method above and nothing has worked.... any other suggestions...my phone was working fine when this happened out of nowhere... i dont have insurance either i bought the phone from someone off of craigslist..help is greatly appreciated
I am having the exact same problem, I had about 30% charge, then it just shut off, and now will not come back on under its own power or via USB nor charger. I tried connecting the charger then inserting the battery, but I do not get any indicator lights at all.
I was running WM6, and the most recent thing installed was the pointUI home screen replacement app.
has anyone experienced this before?

Sounds like u might have a bad battery. Happend to a friend of mine "different phone" just go to a local Radioshack If they have your type of battery and have one in stock they will most likely let you try one on your phone. If not just go to ATT wireless store and see if they have one you can try and buy.

Dear demo23019, I am not sure if I understand the above correctly. Should the Power LED light up "red" when battery is not inserted?
Once I connect the phone to charger (wall or USB), without the battery inserted in it, no red light comes on.
Does this mean that there is some problem with the phone hardware?

Yea the power LED should light up red with out a battery plugged in. Check the usb plug on the bottom of your phone, make sure the middle piece inside is still there and didnt break off.

Oops. My phone's power LED does not light up when I connect it to the charger without the battery inserted in it.
I have checked the following :
a. usb plug is fine (I checked it by plugging it into the Y cable for the USB charger. The LED on the Y cable lights up when I connect the USB plug into it
b. The middle piece inside the socket at the bottom of the phone is still there and shows no signs of damage.
c. The wall charger is also working fine.
Does this conclude that the phone has a hardware fault and this is not linked to the battery being dead?

yh i got the same problem, i touched the power button so it wld go into standby, and it then refused to turn back on, even when i soft resetted it. Plugged it into the wall charger without the battery and there is no red power light coming on.
I've got a MDA Vario II and though im gettin a replacement, it kinda sucks as it seems im gna lose all my data
can we try to determine in more detail what people installed before they experienced this?
I just pulled it apart, and cleaned the inside to no avail, nothing seems to be awry, atleast not to my untrained eye, however it did get me thinking.
I listen to music on my tytn all the time, and over time the usb connector has become quite loose, frequently losing connections over activesync and music comes and goes from both lef and right. if the USB connector is shot, then when I plug it in it won't register that there is power, nor will it have the power to light up the red light indicating there is no battery. also, if the usb link is shot, then the phone wasn't charging so my battery is likely dead.
now to test this out I need to have a verified 100% charged battery.
I currently have the same problem. It will not charge via wall/usb. It flashes red once and that's it. Without the battery and plugged in, I get a solid red light. I tried plugging it into the wall charger without a battery and then putting my battery back in. The red light just turns off. That's it. I can get an active sync connection with a dim white screen, but I do not have enough juice to try flashing a new rom. If anyone has issues like these, are you also able to get an activesync connection?
TIA
EDIT: Is it possible to bypass the low battery protection when flashing a rom? My battery is somewhere around 40% so it would be safe.
Update:
Okay, I purchased a new oem battery and a battery charging dock. This way I can charge the battery without the phone before I attempt to flash a new rom.
I still would appreciate it if anyone who has seen these symptoms (white screen BUT with lots of vibrating / no charging / no bootloader) could give me a few pointers. I've exhausted the Wiki and so far it seems my only option to save the phone is to flash a new rom. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to give me some advice.
Hello,
please help me with an advice: since today afternoon, my HD2 (European type) looks dead... I have an Android NAND ROM (with sense, I think from CM7 series, but I don't remember anymore, cause it worked perfectly since a few months). Suddendly, as I wanted to recharge the battery today afternoon, I've observed that the LED indicating the charging is not on! As I've tried to turn it on (wake up), nothing happened, black screen, no LED, no buttons light. I have put out the battery and back in, tried a reset (red small button near the battery), but it simply don't want to turn on! I have checked the charger with another HD2 from a friend and the charger is ok... What can I do about it? I have really no idea what's going on , cause there is no reason for such a behaviour (like bad flashing trial or similar).
Thank you in advance for every help!
Conrad
...nobody?
I want to add that if I connect it with my pc through the usb cable, nothing happens as well... and my pc won't recognize it (no reaction at all)...
Please, nobody else had such problems?
Your friend has hd2? Try their battery, if it works your battery is flat (can't charge when off when magldr installed)
If the other battery doesn't work check battery pins carefully.
Thanks for your reply, samsamuel.
I have already tried to use other battery, but it doesn't change anything. What do you mean with "checking pins"? The battery contacts, on the battery and on phone are looking very good (the phone is only about 7 months old)...
Sometimes one of the three little pegs on the phone that the battery presses against gets bent.
What about your battery in friends phone?
Other than flat battery or bent pins I can't think of anything else except something serious blew on the mainboard.
The battery works well in my friend's phone (has about 48% capacity). I have also tried his battery in my phone, with no success.
How can occure such a major hardware problem, without any reason?
Sorry, no clue. Random hardware failure? Crash causing hang and overheat? Someone messing with it whilst out of the room? Power surge? Got warranty?
