Bluetooth GPS and Handfree - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

Hi,
i have a new JVC car radio (AVX33) with builtin Bluetooth and a Bluetooth GPS Mouse. Everything work fine also A2DP stereo but only one at time When my BA (with last Explode Rom) is connected to the radio and i want navigate with TomTom or any other programm i cant connect to the GPS mouse.
Disconnect the Radio, the GPS Mouse worked fine but when i reconnect the radio, it disconnect the GPS mouse.
Is there any way to use both at the same time?
Thanks,
tasar

It seems that all BA WM6 (6.1) ROM do not manage correctly multiple connections with BT devices at the same time. There is no way, for example, to grant BT ActiveSync connection while connected to a stupid BT hearphone (or to a GPS unit, as in your example).
I will downgrade to WM 2003 very soon...

Not good to hear But when i go back to 2003 i cant play music over BT,right? No A2DP with 2003?
Is this a problem form the BA or from WM6? I tkink to buy another PDA (which?) but when there is the same problem, i can keep my BA.

Correct Mixture can be possible
Unfortunately, the current answer is a mixture between the WWE os and BT Software with know sacrafice.
My current build is: BA 5.2.19202 with MS BT
This is the current issue that you are defining.
Previous build:
TouchFlo 5.2.1938 with Broadcom 1.7.1
This allows the use of BT GPS and A2DP stereo at the same time.
Unfortunately it is at the cost of the phone feature. If you pair the headset feature of the of the stereo device, it will always choose the headset and not A2DP.
So the end question is: what enviroment do you want. A phone pda or pda
One final issue: The Broadcom 1.7.1 software does not work with all os. My 5.2.1902 will not work and the uninstall restores an older version of the MS BT with problems. I ended up reflashing the device.

What a question Of course i want a Phone PDA!
But is the Bluetooth Problem an BA problem or a WM6? I think to buy another/newer PDA but when this is an WM6 Problem i can keep my BA.

Push this to top again.
Is there a solution for this problem...?
I want to connect my BA (WM6) to a BT-Mouse and to a BT-Headset (mono) at the same time. Does this cause any Problems, or does it work...?
Greets Rossi

You should try; i connect my BT-GPS receiver and my BT-headset in the same time, with no problems.

Can you tell which GPS and Headset, and what are youre settings...?
I tried with these and it won't work:
- Navilock BT-348 Bluetooth GPS
- MIDLAND Rider Bluetooth Headset
Which version of WM6, eg. HELMIs...?

Microsoft vs. Widcomm once more

Hi all!
I found a strange problem reguarding bluetooth software conflicts beetween Qtek2020's Microsoft Bluetooth Stack and the Widcomm 1.4.1 (BluetoothGPS.cab) Stack.
It means.
Without the Widcomm Stack installed I am able to syncronize via Bluetooth with ActiveSync (com6).
And I moreover can surf the web trough my Qtek GPRS connection via Bluetooth. And that's perfect.
But.
With the Widcomm Stack installed I am still able to syncronize via Bluetooth with ActiveSync (on com6) but I loose the bluetooth-modem capacity!
I own a Trust180 Bluetooth/USB adapter.
I need the Widcomm Stack only to use my Fortuna Clip-On GPS and I will not need it anymore if I could find the way to use it with Qtek-Microsoft Bluetooth Stack, but I have not found the way to do it yet.
So I think I could only surf the registry to find the answer to let both stacks work together, is it possible?
Did anybody have the same problem?
Did anybody find the answer?
Thanks in advance!
Giuseppe
Hi Giuseppe,
I have the same Fortuna Clip-on GPS receiver and I'm able to use it with the MS BT stack. It bonds and offers the option to set up a serial port. If you accept this, it allocates Com 5 to the GPS. I use Tomtom navigation software and in the software set it up as a NEMA 38400 baud connection using Com 5 - all works fine.
Paul
XDA 2i Widcomm and Fortuna
I'm having the same problem with a fortuna clip on bluetooth gps and an XDA2i--for some reason that build of the widcomm stack (3900) doesn't work, yet earlier versions, such as that shipped with the XDA2s, appear to work fine--does anyone know where to find a version of the widcomm bluetooth stack from broadcom newer than 3900?

Hi Paul,
thanks for your reply, I know my Clip-On should work together with every software for on road navigation...but...I unfortunately need OziExplorer for my off-road navigation and...OziExplorer need a com7 port.
That's all
I think I'll try Franson's tools: GPSGate & something else as I read here http://www.franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17&SearchTerms=qtek,2020
I wouldn't like to hardreset my device again...I lost the number of my hardresets.
Thank you anywhere
Giuseppe
Hi giuseppe,I hate broadcom stack too, after many hresets, i thinks there is no way to solve this and other bugs, like the serial modem bluetooth connection.
The only winning move is to sell our 2020i and buy magician
Bye
Luca
Hi Luca, don't surrender, it can work!
I simply followed this http://franson.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17&SearchTerms=qtek,2020 .
Now I am able to use my Fortuna GPS and my BT Motorola HS805 at the same time. And morover I am still using my Qtek's BT modem ability.
I payed 30 euros for Franson GPS Gate, but it solved my problems.
I am now trying to let ActiveSync work via Bluetooth because it's the only ability I lost. :?
Bye, thank You for your post,
Don't surrender!

Bluetooth and GPS problem

Hi all, I bought a Qtek S100 and tried to connect it with my BT GPS receiver (Falcom Navi 1). It didn't work properly and I suddely lost te BT icon on the lower right hand side of the S100. It hasn't re-appeared even after several soft resets?
Does the S100 have the sae BT problems with GPS as the xdaII had?
I use BT GPS and the only problem so far is that I have to re-pair them sometimes.
Try Start->Settings->Connections->Bluetooth to get to the same screen as you would get to by clicking the BT icon.
THanks for the reply. Which BT GPS do you use? and with what Navigation program?
Holux GR-231 and TomTom3.
I am having problem with Bluetooth GPS as well. I have 2, one is iTrek Bluetooth GPS and one is ArcoreTech Bluetooth GPS.
Since I have tried both GPS units, I am pretty sure it's i-Mate JAM's Bluetooth problem.
Instead of upgrading my ROM to 1.06.00 WWE, I should have tried it out with version 1.03 first. I upgraded from 1.03 to 1.06 as soon as my JAM finished charging. BIG MISTAKE!
I ended up usiing "Pocket Bluetooth Tool" to designate COM8 (for example) for my GPS. However, if I happen to soft reset or turn of Bluetooth, I would have to pair it again.
I read many article's on the internet and the problem seems to point to the MS Bluetooth stack (instead of Widcomm used in my i-Mate PDA2K - and by the way PDA2K works perfectly with my GPS units).
Hopefuly i-Mate will address this problem during the next ROM update.
So how come Loboman's holux works ok?
Loboman are you using a different BT stack?
I would like to guess that he uses ROM version 1.03...

I use 1.06.00. All i do is that I tap on the BT icon, choose 'Devices', tap 'New...' and waits until the phone finds the GPS. Then I add it and pair it with the passkey. Then I had to scan all serial ports using a program that Holux supplies (I bet it works with any BT reciever though) to find out that my port was COM5 and finally I set my programs to use COM5. As I previously stated, I do have to re-pair them sometimes for some reason, but I can live with that.
I previously had an Acore unit which worked ok with my iPAQ 5450 (also MS BT stack) in WM2003. It took me all the way from northern Sweden to Barcelona in Spain last summer
I have not used Pocket Bluetooth Tool, but I have read about it. I think that it works without it so far. I also leave my BT on 24/7 since I don't think that it uses too much battery.
I hope things work out for you.
Absolutley no problems with Rom 1.01.01 Ger and Navilock BT-308 GPS-Mouse
I am not sure if the following has anything to do with Bluetooth but at least it cured my Bluetooth vs. GPS problem, for now.
On Club i-Mate's ROM update page, I found out that if the radio version is 1.10, then I am NOT suppose to apply the camera patch. After I uninstalled it, my JAM seems to work better with Bluetooth GPS units. My biggest problems were:
1. Once I soft reset my JAM, I have to re-pair my GPS units.
2. PrymeNav software took a long time to scan for GPS - and crashes sometimes when I designate already-scanned port.
3. Unable to hold two paired GPS units in Bluetooth Device List (though only used on at a time).
I have played with it after I uninstalled the camera patch and to this morning my GPS units still function well. Another key is to turn on the GPS unit and make sure it is linked (as indicated by its LED) - then turn on the GPS software. That way the hardwares are ensured to be linked.
As a side bonus, now I can perform Bluetooth Activesync on my Mac (via PocketMac software). However, I still require Pocket Bluetooth Tool installed on my JAM.
Weird!

Problem bluetooth - GPS and Parrot CarKit

anyone has the same problem ?
When I'm using TomTom 5 as navigator and i receive or make a phone call, the navigator stops everything and when a finished my phone call everything comes back again.
Why ?????
I have the same and I thought it was normal beacuse the bt can handle only one device, isn't it?
No
You are wrong because usually bluetooth allow only 1 connection per time of different kind!
For example 1 voice connection to the carkit and 1 data connection to the gps!
Before I had a Nokia 6630 and everything worked perfectly !
Post your appreciated comments!

To answer yr original question, my Tomtom 5.0 works fine on phone call.

So can you help me to solve my problem ?
I have an IMate Jam with Rom 1.11 italian,
what's your version ??
Maybe you have updated the bluetooth stack ?
Thanx !

BTW, I am using GPS Gate all the time so that I can open 2 GPS software (TT and Routis 2). Maybe that's another reason I didn't have problem.
I have the same problem.
I am using i TREK GPS and Jabra 800.
When im navigating, and in the middle I receieve a phone call, the GPS connection hangs even after the phone call ends.
I usualy make a SR after that and continue navigating.
What is the problem??
Thank you
Same story is with my MDA T-Mobile Compact:
EVERY (I stress it) EVERY time I use it with Jabra BT-800 and GPS receiver BT-338 when OziExplorerCE is on for a short time suddenly Ozi hangs. I try to restart it - no way, when BT option is touched, Magician says: NO BT HARDWARE ON THIS DEVICE INSTALLED. Only SR (sometimes even only HR) helps.
Tried to use JAM_Bluetooth_No_Hardware_Patch-1.CAB - it does not help.
Is there a solution? GURU, wake up, please!
Same sad story. This time it's about PocketGPSMoscow software, GPS BT-338 and SBH-100 BT Hand-free.
Every time there is an incoming call, the device looses BT connection to the GPS module.
Turning BT on and off does help, but doesn't bring much comfort. I hope this is not the BT-338 problem.
Should anyone have any bright ideas on how to find a solution to the problem, many will be very greateful.
It's strange. I really doesn't have any problem w/ my Imate Jam (flashed w/ O2 Traditional Chinese 1.11 rom) using my TomTom BT GPS w/ Sony HBH 600 BT headset.
Maybe you guys can try the following to see if it works. (for rom of 1.11 or later)
1. pair yr GPS w/ the pda.
2. In BT Com port setting, make sure both incoming port for Com4 and outgoing port for Com5 is check
3. Install GPSGate, set input port as Com5 and create virtual port Com6
4. Uninstall TomTom BT GPS driver since U doesn't need it at all
5. In TomTom GPS setting, choose "Other GPS" and choose "Franson VSerial Com6"
Let me know if this works 4 U or not.
Anybody try to upgrate/downgrate the rom version? One man in GSM service said, that BT doesn't work propriety with LEng Keybord install to 1.11 version rom. M.b. with TomTom thу same problem?
If you ask me : the problem isn't with your BT but with the phone.
I only use an GPS BT receiver and if somebody calls me, i pick up the phone and also then the GPS disconnects until the call ended ...

I've got 1.12 and I'm sure GSM is not involved - BT is the dead fish.
Every time I have a BT connection with Jabra and BT-338 simultaneously, EVEN when there is NO incoming calls, BT + GPS hang the Magician.
Unfortunately I do not remember if this bug happens when Only BT-338 is connected. Will check and report.

Orange SPV M500 with crap $icrosoft Bluetooth Stacks

Please , please can anyone tell me if it is possible to remove the crap $icrosoft Bluetooth drivers and on my SPV M500 and install better ones. As they are so crap and have taken out alot of function.
Please tell me there is a way
Thanks
Brian
What do you want??? I'm using that same MS stack on my S110 and I cannot say I miss anything compared to Widcomm on my old iPAQ, everything I need (ActiveSync, OBEX, SerialPort) can be done via BT. What are you missing???
Besindes you can install another stack like the Toshiba one or one from Bluesoleil and disable the MS one (cannot be uninstalled because it is in ROM).
Magican with 64MB RAM cant run Widcom but maybe the 128MB ones like the S110 can, but I'm not brave enough to test it. Despite I've no idea where to get the Widcom stack for PPC.
one of the most important things is my car kit requires me to activate the serial port on port 5, but My IPAQ in the bluetooth i click on the carkit port and select connect, and works fine, but i do not have that fuction with my Orange M500, until i can connect the port it will not work so thats why i need other bluetooth software that has this fuction. it seems like $icrosoft is the onlt bluetooth stact that does not have this fuction, and they have cut it down
Hope you understand that
Well I use my Holux 236 GPS on Port5 using SPP (SerialPortProfile) so the functionality is in the MS stack for sure.
Sorry and by the way, where can i get the Toshiba one or one from Bluesoleil bluetooth stack drivers and how do i disable the $icrosoft ones
Thanks again
Brian
Yes, but it does not have the manual connect fuction like other bluetooth statcks do, and i can not connect to the carkit without it. my other device have that fuction and works well, just not my M500
Brian
You can get the bluesoleil one here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18537&highlight=bluesoleil
The Toshiba one can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15604&highlight=toshiba
Important: Both stacks are not perfect. The bluesoleil is limited because the Magician is not a device it is registered on and because of that it has a 5MB data trasfer limit before you need to start it again (like a trial). The Toshiba one is really good but unstable at times.
You best bet is prolly the Bluesoleil one and the "trial" limitation can be removed, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=24801&highlight=bluesoleil
Instructions are avail in those two threads too. Could you let me know how it goes, I'm thinking of using another stack too.
Using a GPS mouse should work without problems. I guess you're doing something wrong. The MS stack establishes the serial port connection automatically once an application tries to use that port. I don't know how it works, but the stack can separate between a connection through the serial profile using Active Sync and a connection using a navigation software to the GPS mouse. For me, it works with no problem. I can use ActiveSync and afterwards go into my car, switch on TomTom and it connects to my bluetooth GPS mouse automatically.
I guess it also has to do how the corresponding navigation software deals with the BT stack. Therefore you should try another software and see if it works better.
It's basically true, that you can do almost everything with the crippled MS stack aswell. Even browsing the net through ActiveSync, even though it has no PAN profile. What it really lacks is the A2DP profile. I think WM5 also features HID, for keyboards, mouses and stuff.
i do not have any problem with any other bluetooth device, it just my CK3500 karkit requires you to do a manual connect, and the MS stack does not have that function.
And thanks to Private-Cowboy, will try this and post update
Thanks again

I'm afraid I not fully agree with you...
In my case (I have a MDA Compact) for my bluetooth GPS mouse to work properly within TomTom 5, I need to bond the GPS mouse with COM5. And that means that I cannot connect simultaniously to an external GSM (for TomTom Traffic via GPRS).
Why an external phone on my MDA Compact? On the MDA I have my work provider and on an external phone I have my private provider with GPRS (a bit difficult I know).
As said to two functions together doesn't work with the MS stack because of the bonding of the GPS mouse on COM5.
Except...
Except when I install an old version of Bluetooth Tools!!! With Bluetooth tools I can bond my GPS mouse to a virtual COM port, which TomTom 5 recognizes! And now I can also use my external GPRS phone!
OK, I can have 2 connection through my MS stack. as i do it
i bound com 5 to my portable Slim GPS until and run tomtom 5.10 in my car, and that works fine, then on my car kit i click connect to paired device and it then connect fine,(so i have a com 5 connection to my GPS and a connection to my hands free car kit). all through my Orange SPV 500 at once
This work great,
But i wanted to use the car kit for handfree and GPS, but as my gps does not work on my car kit i am stuck with my portable Slim GPS unit for now

Yes, it works with a handsfree carkit. But it doesn't with an external phone, maybe because the phone is a 2-way connection? Try it and you'll see it doesn't!

Maybe that nobody understands your question. Widcomm bluetooth stack is in every HD2 rom - each stock rom and even in the cooked roms e.g. the Artemis rom.
no cab, extract a ROM, then look into sys folder and oemdriver...
Original bluetooth stack instead of Widcomm

@smaberg: I have the problem the other way: I use the HD2 with the Artemis rom and would very much like to get rid of the Widcomm bluetooth stack, because it does not work with my car. I have also a diamond (original stock rom with 6.1 and standard stack) and an old touch with an 6.5 Windows with standard stack. The original Windows bluetooth stack works with my car without any problems. Is there a way to deinstall Widcomm and to install the original Windows stack at my HD2?
+1 for removal of widcomm i have similar problem but mine connects with car sudio and works well but the stack mixes sound very bad, and you cannot control the volume level on phone. So for instance when im listening to music and fireup a navigation system the commands from the system are badly mixed in with music too loud choppy cracky etc it's pain to ears. Before on xperia (with smabergs rom ) i did not had such a problem the playback was plain and smooth.
best Regards
Another one here for a way to replace the Widcomm stack as it won't work with my igo / think outside bluetooth mouse.
The stack seems to be different than from others.
I can send bluetooth messages from my HD2 to other bluetooth clients, no problem. But the HD2 does not ".AcceptBluetoothClient()"(32feet.net) so maybe the stack is somehow broken. The stack just works in one direction
anyone got Bluetooth stack "improven"
This BT Stack is crap. I can't get this device working as other phones do.
Anyone has a solution for it?
I have a Pioneer AVH-4100 car in-dash Multimedia system + CD-BTB200 Bluetooth adapter! And i can't seem to do the following:
1- Dial numbers
2- Access phonebook
3- Voice recognition
Everything else works fine, but unfortunately the most important features doesn't..
I wish JETware was compatible with the HD2..
Any idea what to do?
thx
