Bluetooth and GPS problem - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hi all, I bought a Qtek S100 and tried to connect it with my BT GPS receiver (Falcom Navi 1). It didn't work properly and I suddely lost te BT icon on the lower right hand side of the S100. It hasn't re-appeared even after several soft resets?
Does the S100 have the sae BT problems with GPS as the xdaII had?

I use BT GPS and the only problem so far is that I have to re-pair them sometimes.
Try Start->Settings->Connections->Bluetooth to get to the same screen as you would get to by clicking the BT icon.

THanks for the reply. Which BT GPS do you use? and with what Navigation program?

Holux GR-231 and TomTom3.

I am having problem with Bluetooth GPS as well. I have 2, one is iTrek Bluetooth GPS and one is ArcoreTech Bluetooth GPS.
Since I have tried both GPS units, I am pretty sure it's i-Mate JAM's Bluetooth problem.
Instead of upgrading my ROM to 1.06.00 WWE, I should have tried it out with version 1.03 first. I upgraded from 1.03 to 1.06 as soon as my JAM finished charging. BIG MISTAKE!
I ended up usiing "Pocket Bluetooth Tool" to designate COM8 (for example) for my GPS. However, if I happen to soft reset or turn of Bluetooth, I would have to pair it again.
I read many article's on the internet and the problem seems to point to the MS Bluetooth stack (instead of Widcomm used in my i-Mate PDA2K - and by the way PDA2K works perfectly with my GPS units).
Hopefuly i-Mate will address this problem during the next ROM update.

So how come Loboman's holux works ok?
Loboman are you using a different BT stack?

I would like to guess that he uses ROM version 1.03...

I use 1.06.00. All i do is that I tap on the BT icon, choose 'Devices', tap 'New...' and waits until the phone finds the GPS. Then I add it and pair it with the passkey. Then I had to scan all serial ports using a program that Holux supplies (I bet it works with any BT reciever though) to find out that my port was COM5 and finally I set my programs to use COM5. As I previously stated, I do have to re-pair them sometimes for some reason, but I can live with that.
I previously had an Acore unit which worked ok with my iPAQ 5450 (also MS BT stack) in WM2003. It took me all the way from northern Sweden to Barcelona in Spain last summer
I have not used Pocket Bluetooth Tool, but I have read about it. I think that it works without it so far. I also leave my BT on 24/7 since I don't think that it uses too much battery.
I hope things work out for you.

Absolutley no problems with Rom 1.01.01 Ger and Navilock BT-308 GPS-Mouse

I am not sure if the following has anything to do with Bluetooth but at least it cured my Bluetooth vs. GPS problem, for now.
On Club i-Mate's ROM update page, I found out that if the radio version is 1.10, then I am NOT suppose to apply the camera patch. After I uninstalled it, my JAM seems to work better with Bluetooth GPS units. My biggest problems were:
1. Once I soft reset my JAM, I have to re-pair my GPS units.
2. PrymeNav software took a long time to scan for GPS - and crashes sometimes when I designate already-scanned port.
3. Unable to hold two paired GPS units in Bluetooth Device List (though only used on at a time).
I have played with it after I uninstalled the camera patch and to this morning my GPS units still function well. Another key is to turn on the GPS unit and make sure it is linked (as indicated by its LED) - then turn on the GPS software. That way the hardwares are ensured to be linked.
As a side bonus, now I can perform Bluetooth Activesync on my Mac (via PocketMac software). However, I still require Pocket Bluetooth Tool installed on my JAM.
Weird!

Multiple Bluetooth Devices

Hi there guys, its been a while since posting but I have some great news regarding using multiple bluetooth devices in the car.
A few weeks ago I purchased a Navman 4410 GPS unit for my XDAII. With the new "72" rom the Navman worked perfectly with my XDAII straight out of the box over bluetooth.
Today I installed a Sony Ericsson HBC-30 bluetooth hands free carkit (Which also worked perfectly out of the box). I was interested to know if I could have the GPS unit operating and have the handsfree carkit working at the same time.
I was simply sitting in the carpark, with the GPS connected and onscreen, then I used my other phone to call my XDAII... the call came up on screen (interrupting the GPS screen) I pressed the "answer" button on the Sony Ericsson handsfree kit, and the call came through perfectly!
Once finished with the call I pressed the "hangup" button on the handsfree kit, and then a few quick taps on the screen returned me to the GPS navigation screen.
Certainly not perfect, however it appears that the bluetooth issues are finally getting resolved, and allowing us to begin using the XDAII as it was intended.
Hi Colonel, thanks for your update, it is comforting to know that they are finally sorting out BT problems.
Is there any way to get the phone screen to automatically close after finishing a call? so I don't have to manually close it to get back to my GPS screen?
No I dont think you can. Not without altering the GPS software to continually make sure its "on top" of other windows... but then you'd have a problem with seeing the "incoming call screen" as the GPS software would try to jump on top of it.
I'd be so happy simply if I could make HCB30 and Blutrek G2 headset work side by side on my Qtek...
points are:
1-where coul i get that da***n 1.72 rom for my xda 2
2-where could i get the g2 HS in italy(even worlwide...) or all over the web at reasonable price
help a newbie...
Kolonel,
I can confirm your experience as far as BT GPS is concerned.
I however still have one issue to solve: When the MDAII (=XDA2) can't connect to the GPS (BT off, GPS off, GPS out of reach) and I start TomTom3, TomTom3 keeps searching for the GPS which results in a almost freezing MDA2.
Using rom 1,72 from Qtek I bonded the BT GPS and confirmed the question about assigning a com port.
In TomTom I assigned this (COM5) com port.
All works fine except for the issue mentioned.
Does this sound familiar?
Clues?
BTW in the BT settings screen there is nothing shown about the assigned com port (just free space next to the two lines that should indicate the in- and outbound com ports). I found COM5 to be assigned to BT by trial and error . . .

edsub,
Are you using "Bluetooth Tools"? Because I am not, i'm using the native bluetooth stack only.
I am using "Outbound" Com port 5 ONLY for my GPS. My 1.72 rom is the IMATE rom.
Im afraid that i'm not familiar with tomtom. So I cant help you there, sorry.
I am deliberately only using native MS bT stack.
I am only using COM5 for GPS too
What does the BT Settings show under
"Bluetooth Serial Port Setup"?
With me:
"Outbound COM port" checked, but after the colon is a "<not present>" shown.
"Inbound COM port" UNchecked, after the colon is a grayed-out "<not present>" shown.
Like i said I AM able to use the GPS via COM5.
Maybe this issue is a pure TomTom issue, I think your answer could clarify that.

hi guys
im using imate 172 and tomtom 3 with a sony ericsson hb35 it works first time all the time with the standard stack. it works that good i even went and sold my carkit and just got a hold instead
@Kolonel Klink: I guessed it's strange. What ROM are you using exactly (OS & Extended).
I use the 1.72 Qtek rom with my own Extended Rom (wich is based on the Qtek ExtRom to which I added T-Mobile Nl customisations). I am sure there is nothing regarding Bluetooth in my ExtRom.
I heard from someone who uses the iMate 1.72 OS Rom (with his own cooked ExtRom) that he has the same results as you have.
Just trying to find to cause of this. Maybe I have to reflash to the iMate 1.72?? (shouldnt make a difference as both iMate and Qtek OS ROM's are the same 1.72.00WWE . . . .)
@freelockuk: Most interesting is the origin of your ExtRom. Arent there any Bluetooth enhancements in that ExtRom (like there were in the 1.60.36 T-Mobile NL ExtRom) that maybe make your 1.72 work better than mine concerning Bluetooth?
addition to prev post:
I noticed that there were two BT registry settings missing to get the assigned COMport show in BT Settings.
Also noticed another interesting value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ExtModems\bluetooth_dun]
With me this one is:
"port"="BSP9:"
In prev versions it was:
"port"="BSP4:"
Can anyone with a 1.72 ROM that has a BT GPS mouse working via SPP AND who can start Tom Tom without the BT GPS mouse 'connected' post their setting of this key??
Okay, i've not cooked my own extended rom. I'm using the stock standard one from iMate.
I did find something odd today. I went into an IT expo and I turned flight-mode on. When I was finished I left and turned flight mode off. Then got in my car. I tried to make a call and it didnt go thru the handsfree kit.
Weird! I had to repair the device. So I did... and it all worked fine again. So I turned flight mode back on then off, and I ended up with the same result. It appears to lose the pairing when you turn the flight mode on.
Very odd!
I still have not found a solution to the behaviour where TomTom locks up the MDA with is isnt able to connect to my BT GPS.
Today I found out that this same behavious accurs on devices (not just MDA, HP too) that use a serial (wired) GPS when they take the current off the GPS . . .
That means:
1. TomTom Navigator can't cope with the situation where it cant connect to the GPS that is installed
2. With me TomTom navigator is not able to use the Bluetooth protocol on its side to cope with the (for Bluetooth GPS quite usual) unavailability of the BT GPS.
Again: Can anyone post me some info on this :?: :?:
Especially the registry items under
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SerialPort]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ExtModems\bluetooth_dun]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ExtModems\bluetooth_dcn]
are of interest
@ Klink
Thanks for sharing your experiences, I'm watching them with interest.
Just wanted to as you about using your navman and the headset at the same time.
In your first post to this topic, you mentioned your 'carpark' test. I assume you weren't moving at the time, so the navman wasn't trying to give you directions.
What happens when you're driving along, getting instructions (ie. "turn left in 300m") from your navman, and the phone rings? Does the navman stop giving directions while you are talking on the phone using your BT handsfree? When you hang up does it resume giving directions again?
Thanks,
Hooligan
Emtact Trine BT GPS, Bluetrek G3 BT Headset
Like all of you my exprience is that it all works together.
But I've one problem. When navigating with TomTom and there is a incoming phone call and when I accept the call with my headset TomTom continues navigating but the sound of my QTEK2020 is muted during the call. So the instructions of TomTom cannot be heard.
I'm using plain MS BT Stack.
Regards,
Mark
This behaviour seems not the be dependent of the use of a BT headset. I have a carkit and during a call TomTom stays active in background. Sound of TomTom is muted however, which I find nice.
When the phone call is ended, TomTom starts talking again.(also nice)
first of all my nevigation program works great with the jabra 250 bt , it also mutes the program during a call is madeqreceived but :
there is anothe program that is called "ontime" that sends trqaffic status to the imate, using the gprs andthen calculates the fastest root( from junction to juction) and the problem is:
if i want to use buth progtams with royaltek gps bt rbt1000 they both need the com5 port fot bt.
to solve this problem one can use a prog called: "gpsgate" which makes a virtual port for the programs to use so u can use several program with one bt device.
for some it works only with bt tools, for others it doesnt work at all, gos knows why?!
but - if any1 needs a solution - here is one.
have a nice day , spark
QTEK 2020 - 1.72.00 WWE - 1.06.01
Back Pack - jabra 250 BT- royaltek rbt 1000 GPS BT - DESTINATOR3(LIKE TOM TOM 3) - soon will recieve sd 1gb*40
Spark, where did you get 'gpsgate'??

Clash Between BT Headset & GPS

Can anyone help with this,
I have an O2 Exec (Latest O2 ROM etc)
I have a Bluetooth GPS & Bluetooth Headset, when using the GPS, if a call comes in I can answer it on the headset, but the GPS goes all screwy, starts losing position, even after the call is ended the GPS is erratic
I have installed Buzzs Bluetooth Patch, and no effect,
Its a bit of a pain if I can't use a Bluetooth headset and GPS at the same time.
Anyone had this and found a cure?.
EXEC, Details are
1.13.82 WWE
11/30/05
1.04.02
42.37.P8
1.13.118 WWE
Help appreciated
Thanks
Richard
Richard im on the same rom as you but without the bt patch and ive no problems
alix776,
I will try it again later on, I had the problem before I installed the patch, so I installed it to see if it cured it, but it didn't
I will do a hard rest later and start from scratch again, see if that helps,
I didn't have any problems using the same BT Headset on an XDA 2i, so assumed it would work ok on the EXEC, the only change to the setup is the GPS unit, I am using a really cheap and cruddy £30 jobbie off ebay (Its only 8 Ch, and seems a bit flaky!),
I will have a new Sirf3 unit arriving in a few days, so can try that to see if the problem is with the cheap BT GPS!.
I need to get a solution sorted in the next 10 days before going back to work in the US, or I will have to take the TTOne with me if I can't get this setup working 100%
Cheers
Richard
Alix
I just tried it again from a hard reset and the same problem
GPS works fine till I answer a call, then It stalls and loses GPS Position till I hang up, then GPS connects again but there is massive lag and the Map is nowhere near its true position,
Not cured until you exit TT and restart,
How did you install TT, I copied the cabs across and installed from the SD, I paired the GPS and set it to COM0, then in TT5 selected Other Bluetooth GPS and COM0.. am I doing something wrong with the way I am trying to get it installed
This has always worked on all the other systems I have used!
Cheers
Richard
I have the same problem and other...
I have the same problem when using Tom Tom ,if I pick a call with my BT headset the gps lost the position and when I close the phone call TT says No GPS device.......it restarts by himself after few mins , but the position is uncorrect, it has like a sort of delay, the arrow on the display "follows me" 2 or 3 Km behind.
So, mi car is quite fast..but be faster than a navigation device is very funny...
Btw my gps antena is an Hamlet HBTGPS
Other problem I have is that Tomtom 5.21 don't allow me to use my TT5.00 maps,it only see Italy ,Iberia and UK...
I think I will get Navigon asap....
Bye...
just a thought have you tried formating the storage card and reinstalling the map just back it up first in using a sirf3 apos and jabra 250v headset ive also used a ttmk2 bt receiver with no probs either
Same here
I am also getting this issue on an SPW M5000, flashed to the Imate test rom. I don't know if it was happening before on the original (crappy) orange rom that it shipped with as I had to upgrade my GPS to a bluetooth from a mouse.
It is a real pain not being able to use them both together and I'm tied to the phone with a wire at the minute.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Jasjar with TomTom 6 and Holox 321 BT GPS

Hi All
I have the above setup and am having a nightmare trying to get the bluetooth GPS to work. I have tried every setting I can find and even upgraded the ROM to 1.90.96 to see if that helped but still no joy. Basically whichever COM port I assign 0,4,5 or 8 (the only options allowed) it shows up in the "Other Bluetooth GPS receiver" catergory in TT6 but it will not connect. I have also noticed that the only time the BT LED on the Holox device flashes is during the initial pairing with the jasjar, before the device default password "0000" is added. Once this function has been completed tthe light remains solid and tt6 does not recieve the gps signal.
I know the Holox unit and the TT6 is working fine as I have tried it on an old HP 1940 with wm2003 and it works perfectly.
Has anyone got any ideas, suggestions or experienced the same problems
When you set up the Pairing with the GPS receiver use COM0 and select the serial port. Once this is done, set up a new outgoing COM port and make sure that the "Enable secure connection" box IS NOT checked. My Exec never works with any BT GPS receivers if this box is checked.
Then in Tomtom set use other BT GPS receiver and select COM0.
Pug.
Hi Pug
No joy I'm afraid. Have tried this more times than i care to mention but TT^ will not recognise the gps device.
Sounds like a problem with your BT stack then. If it worked on your other device then it's obviously a problem with the Uni. Seen as this isn't a common problem, might be some problem with your setup. Thinking about it now, Tomtom overwrites some BT files during install, as you seem to be using an AKU3.2 ROM which will have updated BT stack, try deleting these from the windows folder.
ttn6bt2003.dll
BtCoreIf.dll
BtSdkCE30.dll
If it doesn't work, you can always re-install TT6

Still No joy with Jasjar, Holox BT-321 GPS & Tomtom 6
Hi All
I've tried all fixes for the above problem suggested by pug and mavrik64 earlier on this thread but without success. This is a little frustrating to say the least. The Jasjar has had clean install with nothing loaded other than the default programs included with the latest ROM build 1.90.96 from Jwrightmcps, the UK 'O2' setup and TomTom 6. As I know the software and Holox unit work fine on my old HP1940 running on wm2003, I'm convinced it is something in WM5 that is giving me the problem. I have read other forums were other people appear to have similar problems.
Please note; the main reason I flashed the ROM from that previously installed 1.30.76 was to try and find a fix for this problem. The older version gave me exactly the same problem.
Anyone got any ideas
I am using Ivans Beta 15 and no problems, try flashing with that.
You have a new PM in a few moments as well.

Any idea where I can get hold of a copy of Ian's Beta 15 ROM. I've trawled round this site but can't seem to locate it

TOMTOM6 and bluetooth GPS problem

I'm just going crazy with this problem:
I installed TT6 on the I-mate Jamin, connected to the BT GPS Holux GPSlim236 and it was working. After some hours or days, when I launch TT6, it does not recognize the BT GPS, it displays " no GPS (flight mode)" also if BT is active on the pda.
I tried also to update the firmware to the LvsW AKU 2.3.1 that should be very stable but the problem arised again. If I install again TT& it works again for some hour only.
Anothe strange behaviour is that TT6 is not trying to activate automatically the BT when launched, while after the installation it was.
Any solution?
Thanks in advance
did you disabled the phone?
when the phone is off, even if bluetooth is on, tomtom can not communicate with any bluetooth gps.
a new hope...
Maybe yes, I disabled the phone, as I was doing in my previous iPaq WM2003. I will follow your indication and give feedback asap. The strange thing is that other GPS programs are working with the BT GPS even if the phone is disabled.
Thank you! I could solved it!
Thank you, adl67-san, zadigre-san.
I had same problem with my QTEK9000 & TomTom6.
The problem was TomTom6 can not find GPS receiver(Holux GPSlim240).
But after Phone function is ON, it works well.
(Normally, I use my QTEK9000 without SIM.)
This problem has bother me for 1 month.
Now I can use it.
Thanks a lot again.

Bluetooth GPS and Handfree

Hi,
i have a new JVC car radio (AVX33) with builtin Bluetooth and a Bluetooth GPS Mouse. Everything work fine also A2DP stereo but only one at time When my BA (with last Explode Rom) is connected to the radio and i want navigate with TomTom or any other programm i cant connect to the GPS mouse.
Disconnect the Radio, the GPS Mouse worked fine but when i reconnect the radio, it disconnect the GPS mouse.
Is there any way to use both at the same time?
Thanks,
tasar
It seems that all BA WM6 (6.1) ROM do not manage correctly multiple connections with BT devices at the same time. There is no way, for example, to grant BT ActiveSync connection while connected to a stupid BT hearphone (or to a GPS unit, as in your example).
I will downgrade to WM 2003 very soon...
Not good to hear But when i go back to 2003 i cant play music over BT,right? No A2DP with 2003?
Is this a problem form the BA or from WM6? I tkink to buy another PDA (which?) but when there is the same problem, i can keep my BA.
Tasar
Correct Mixture can be possible
Unfortunately, the current answer is a mixture between the WWE os and BT Software with know sacrafice.
My current build is: BA 5.2.19202 with MS BT
This is the current issue that you are defining.
Previous build:
TouchFlo 5.2.1938 with Broadcom 1.7.1
This allows the use of BT GPS and A2DP stereo at the same time.
Unfortunately it is at the cost of the phone feature. If you pair the headset feature of the of the stereo device, it will always choose the headset and not A2DP.
So the end question is: what enviroment do you want. A phone pda or pda
One final issue: The Broadcom 1.7.1 software does not work with all os. My 5.2.1902 will not work and the uninstall restores an older version of the MS BT with problems. I ended up reflashing the device.

But is the Bluetooth Problem an BA problem or a WM6? I think to buy another/newer PDA but when this is an WM6 Problem i can keep my BA.

Push this to top again.
Is there a solution for this problem...?
I want to connect my BA (WM6) to a BT-Mouse and to a BT-Headset (mono) at the same time. Does this cause any Problems, or does it work...?
Greets Rossi
You should try; i connect my BT-GPS receiver and my BT-headset in the same time, with no problems.
Can you tell which GPS and Headset, and what are youre settings...?
I tried with these and it won't work:
- Navilock BT-348 Bluetooth GPS
- MIDLAND Rider Bluetooth Headset
Which version of WM6, eg. HELMIs...?
