cannot change Boot Options (buttons not working) - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

I flashed successfully after putting the PDA2k in USB mode.
I got the 3 Boot OPtions (KITL/Clean Registry Hive/Format Storage) , and my camera and record buttons are not responding so i cannot change the option 2 and 3 to Yes.
A relevant post by xplode mentions that it can be done via mtty, i downloaded but don't know what options to use for connections, or what commands to enter.
Appreciate help. I've spent at least 3 hours trying to sort this thing out but now it's a dead end.
MC
Note : i used Helmi R0 WM6 BA ROM

not a single reply ?! it's too much. It seems that other users are stuck with similar issue and their threads died as soon as they said "help".
In any case, i connected mtty and tried this;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=934239&postcount=12
The phone works, i have yet to test it with my Holux GPS receiver (the main reason i resurrected this device).
My question is ; is the mtty method above equivalent to doing the no/yes/yes in boot options ? i had to use because my hardware buttons are not responding during the boot options striped screen.
Guys, really, this cannot be the big mystery no one can resolve.
Thanks,
MC

If your device works correctly, there only 2 options:
1. You don't know how to press camera+record correctly (many people reported problems)
2. Your buttons have hardware malfunction
There is no such option, that buttons do not work during booting. I thought for a while about pre-release versions, but do not recall this particular error.

buttons work fine, they are fully functional when the device is running the OS.
I definitely am holding/pushing the right buttons and combination thereof, otherwise i wouldn't get into the striped color boot screen with the 3 boot options (KITL/Hive/Storage).
The problem have been reported by other people on the same thread. If i were you i would read this forum before eliminating this as a problem.
Tks,
MC

[Q] HTC magic boot loop rooted. Need desperately HELP!!!

Hi there. I would appreciate your help here. I am a rookie with android software as I own an HTC Magic almost 3 weeks from now. My phone has the above characteristics:
SAPPHIRE PVT32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.76.0009 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.08.29
Dec 8 2009, 17:38:48
The software I had was Android 1.5 and it was rooted with RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.05.401.1_test_signed_NoDriver ROM. I was watching on Youtube some videos about CyanogenMod 6 at HTC phones and I decided to try to put this software to my phone via ROM Manager. The result is a major disaster (or not?). Specifically, from my phone I opened ROM Manager, download rom, CyanogenMod nightlies , CM6 XXXXXXXX (can’t remember which one) EBI1 Kernel… So I had successfully downloaded it and followed the instructions while installing. After installation completed it automatically rebooted and started loop again and again. All it gets to is the "HTC MAGIC" screen and then reboots every 5 seconds. At the begging I thought that this is the installation process. 30 minutes later I had a doubt for this. I pulled out the battery cause pressing the Power on/off button nothing happened. I tried everything… nothing at all. I pressed the Power on/off button again it continued looping. After I pulled out and inserted the battery I pressed the Home and Power on/off button (Android recovery) it still continued looping. Removed again the battery and inserting again while pressing Back and Power on/off button (fastboot ) it still continued looping. I pressed Home and Back buttons and tapped Power on/off button… the same issue (continued looping). Down volume and Power on/off button… nothing. Up volume and Power on/off button… nada. Pulled out the battery for 30 minutes and tried again… nothing again. Tried again and again with the USB connected and disconnected… nothing. Still looping. I tried to install the previous Rom I had via PC but I couldn’t cause USB was connecting and disconnecting because of the rapid (5 second) boot loop. The only button which seems to work is the trackball which freezes everything with the blue led on and a black screen between the loops. I pressed all the buttons together wishing something to happen… unfortunately nothing happened. I backup my SD card and tried with an older backup I had… nothing… boot loop remains. I am despaired and tired (almost 18 hours online searching some help or solution). The only thing I want is to make fastboot work and install my old ROM via my PC… nothing else.
Please, please, please…. HELP ME!!!
well this is a pain. Your fastboot is also locked. You should read instructions and learn a bit before just flashing whatever you please. CM6 requires old radio and a different SPL. The one you're using isn't compatible, hence the reboots. You also can't get into recovery because your radio and recovery are also not compatible. I'm assuming that rom manager did that? I'm not sure, all you new people are just running that thing and flashing away without any knowledge behind it.
I don't think you're bricked but I'm not 100% sure what to do since I've kept my bootloader unlocked to run fastboot commands (which would easily solve this situation). My suggestion is to get an RUU for your phone, update and then reroot it. Maybe someone else has a better solution but right now you don't have the right recovery and fastboot is locked. At the moment, I can't think of a better solution.
edit: ugh it's late and im sleepy! i just reread what you said, you can't get into fastboot either? If not you're probably bricked
yup, I totally agree: I remember the first time I flashed a rom over the stock version which was installed. I read every sticky thread, the whole wiki page and lots of xda threads before giving flashing a try. It's just too risky to mess up an expensive phone. Just look at all the "bricked my phone, please help" threads, that alone should make one think twice (and read, read, read) before flashing...
I hope someone can still help you. But not getting into fastboot anymore?! :-(
Sorry and good luck,
V.

Thanks gyes for your replies. Still I can't find a solution. The only thing I can barelly see before it boots again by pressing Back button and On/Off button is ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1.
As about the mistakes I admit that this is my fault but also I have to say that before I root my HTC I couldn't download anything from ROM Manager. After I had succesfully rooted my phone and downloaded the ROM update from my phone there was no mention about radio issues or conflicts in the installtion proccess. Even though it is my fault and I admit it. I don't mind if I loose my data (I made an SD buck up). I just want to find a way to stop this stuppid loop, make a USB connection with my PC and install my previous ROM even if I have to screw out my phone.
as I'm not able to help you myself (I'm just a user not a developer) I can only recommend checking the "bricked phone" threads for solutions. I think I saw an "how to unbrick phone" thread somewhere. Never read it though. Probably there are many others who messed up their phone somehow and lots of solutions in all those threads. Just use the search feature and look for brick threads, solutions, help, etc. Maybe you'll find something.
Sry that I can't offer more,
Greetz,
V.
It's ok my friend... Thanx 4 replying
i don't know if it's related but a guy had a bad flash and had a blue trackball toom, which you mention in first post, here is his thread on what he did to fix his phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649689&highlight=unbrick
Nope... Nothing helpfull unfortunately! Thanx anyway
A new clue is that I left my HTC magic to boot loop while the usb cable was connected with my PC dinging in and out while rebooting and after 10 minutes it stoped rebooting (it happened one's more yesterday). No button combination is responding (the trackball also) even if I keep pressing them over a minute continuesly. Also no led is lighting even if it is on USB connection. I ashume that if I remove and putt back the battery it will start again the boot loop as it happened yesterday. So I will leave it as it is and try later to restart...
Nothing... Started boot loop again
Today I gave my Magic to HTC Service. It was confirmed that the electronic circuit was "dead" and it had to be replaced. If I'm lucky maybe I wont pay a dime. It depends if the software I had on was Android compadible or not. If not then... better not think about it!

Help: During USPL, hd turned off, cant start it again

hello!
i got a question. i tried to get a energy rom on my phone. i did everything said in this thread: [TUT] Dummies guide: flashing 1.56+ roms [v 2.0] - [HSPL]
updated drivers, had SPL 1.54.0000 on my phone and followed the instructions. when i executed USPL and did the following step in the guide:
"(USPL5b) Run USPL.exe from the download in step (USPL1c)...When the application appears click on Run USPL."
the programs output said everything is fine and the phone turned off like it should do. the only problem is, it did restart and i also cant switch it on with the power button... any suggestions?
regards
there is 2 points of view to this:
1. how did you actually end up where you are now?
2. and how do you solve that (probably depends on 1.)?
so:
1.
- did you, by any chance, ignore the warning to only flash with a full battery?
although a cable is plugged in, during the stages of flashing the device is not charged, but actually uses a lot of power, due to the fact that the screen is backlit the entire time and the nand is constantly accessed.
- could your usb cable be faulty and have terminated the connection midway through?
that could mean that you now have a broken spl, which is not much better than no spl at all.
2. some of the most primitive ways of getting the device back to life might be:
- have you tried switching it on with VOL- pressed (bootloader mode) instead of actually switching it on? (also, in that case, which spl is shown?)
- have you taken out the battery for half an hour and put it back in then and tried to switch it on or enter bootloader mode?
- do you have any way of either testing the battery outside of that specific device or charging it externally? (to make sure it is not actually empty, because in this state, your device might not charge it)
- and lastly, have you done this procedure before?
are you sure, you followed it to the letter? because any indication of going off-script might help us find the cause and then the solution to your problem.
if we can make sure, that your phone is not physically harmed (battery, usb connector...) and you are not in the worst luck about the timing of the error, we should be able to fix it.
Hi
to start you phone again you have to press "both" volume button down, at the same time you have to press the reset button as well, reset button is beside you SD Card on the back of you phone ,when you press all the button you will see a 3 colored screen on you phone if you see the 3 colored screen stop pressing the volume button, after that it is everything explaind on the phone screen. With this method you will delete everything on you phone and be back on you original phone settings.
no, that would be a hard reset and it does not affect the spl, without a proper spl, the phone cannot boot and a hard reset cannot change that, he needs to access bootloader mode to flash an spl and then a rom.

[Q] [XOOM 2/MZ608-16] Won't boot/charge / bricked

Hello everyone.
I searched the whole forum and found similar threads with kinda the same problem - but no solution worked for me (or aswell none was stated).
My problem is that my Xoom 2 ME (MZ608-16) (Android 4.0.4) won't turn back on, doesn't light up the LED when charging and seems to be fully bricked.
I also tried to do those button-combo tricks but it had no use. I held those combos several times for a longer period.
But what I can tell is that the screen does a small short flash as if it would boot after holding the buttons POWER/LOCK + SOUND UP for a short time.
Holding those buttons even longer after the first not-easy-to-notice flash it rapidly happens again and again.
What caused this trouble was that I tried to flash the firmware after rooting.
First I stocked at a screen showed that some flash didn't worked out well (looks like fastboot mode).. that happend after trying to flash the recovery to do a proper backup before to do the-stuff-i-wished-to-do. It showes up every boot. Normal boot could be inizialized even though after entering the "control menu" via pressing VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER/LOCK on the same time and releae it.
After that I wished to fix it via flashing the whole firmware in hope the message would go away.. troublesome was that I used the wrong firmware for another Model than the MZ608.
And now I'm stocked.
You all helped me already a few times without me registering.
Now I hope you can help me ones again.
Thank you very much in advance.
Greetings
Zeitwaechter
Edit 2013-05-08: Still no changes.
I request further help
You can put phone back into fastboot using factory cable method - see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077414
If the phone is bricked then you need to use omapflash to flash fastboot and then the image - see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242330

HELP! Stuck in Boot Logo w/ no Recovery Mode

Ok so before I started writing this I had only one problem now I'm worried my problem has gone from bad to worse.
I updated my 6T to 10.3.2 from the latest Beta after the process it prompted for a restart, upon restarting it got stuck in the boot animation. I tried going into Recovery and Download mode unsuccessfully so I went through the forums a bit and saw that someone who had the same problem successfully entered Recovery mode by pressing VOLUME UP+DOWN+POWER buttons simultaneously, I tried to do the same and my phone turned off and now it doesn't turn on! :crying:
Has anyone experienced this or know how to fix this? Any help will be much appreciated. Tia!

These should be clarified:
Volume Up + Power while turning on will boot to fastboot.
Volume Down + Power while turn on will boot to recovery.
Holding Volume Up + Power should force the phone to turn off.
Volume Up + Volume Down should put your phone in Download mode for the MSM Tool.
Turn the phone off, let it sit. Then try turn it back on. Any response?
try to shutdown phone ...hold vol+ and power button for like 15 sec and restart your phone if this didnt work then u can try MSM tool
Thanks guys, got it working using MSM Tool!

You are likely going to lose your data. Know that going in if its not already backed up.
If you have the fastboot menu you can use the fastboot roms.
Or my least favorite option or what I would try last, MSM Tool (Tmobile 6Ts use a different tool).
IMPORTANT if you want to try and recover and data off your phone first, go to fastboot, and try and "boot" the TWRP img (not the installed one, one from your PC using the fastboot command). If that works you might be able to recover data. If that does worm, try dirty flashing the last ROM you were running and see if it boots.
No worries!

Hello, I am sorry to hear of you having this issue, I just went through 3 1/2 days (off and on) of recovering my T-Mobile OnePlus 6t which I found a way to get my unlock code within 2 weeks of having it, so I rooted it and put a custom kernel on it, stuck on 9.0 never let me update as I was not familiar with A/B partitioning, yet! The answers I saw to your questions were spot on, I just had a little to add to it and I'm sure I am not alone. Real quick let me list what has gone wrong on the rare occasion it hit the fan with the 6t...
- When I would accidentally and rarely let my battery die it seemed like it took forever to get it to reboot, I mean it sat on my desk of DOA devices for 2 weeks!
- It often seems like the buttons do not always respond properly and never have when I needed them to. Been through this before, I've bricked and unbricked and flashed and re-flashed and wiped all weekend and I like Android 10 and all but seems everything is different for every build, and everything seems to have to go in the right order with the exact right file or you wind up in a jam, period..
- That said, the previous person that answered your question has likely encountered similar, I've heard of right down to the buttons not physically working, but I have been a Smart Device Master III Technician for over 5 years, i know my buttons were not broken.
- Most likely culprit that I just handled and worked, i did have to use the MSM tool, several times - and re-unlock the BL, several times I would not even get the chance to get to fastboot, just a screen saying Build and Hardware not a match"" in yellow letters and it just bootlooped. No fastboot is no good, but when you said the tool would show some signs of working but then not, I have 2 solutions that I needed on diffrent occcasions.
1 - As mentioned fully try other USB cables, and ports, if you pull the usb-c out of the port and hold <power + vol up + vol down> eventually it will do something, very picky, sometimes gotta move your fingers to different spots on the buttons and also after 15-20sec let go of power and hit and hold it again... after a few seconds before it vibrates stick the cable in connected to your PC and the screen will be black (obv) but the msm tool will pick up on it. I know about the cables because I take good care of my phones and cables and charging ports, however on my final fix today it showed in msm tool it was connected but waiting for device.... Fed up i put the phone down and moved the usb cable a little bit and it picked up on it and did its thing! That part was just the cable, getting into qualcomm mode or w.e. is a bit tricky sometimes.
- Also someone said set it down for a while and come back to it.. THAT WORKS!! Let it fully charge and often just plugging in charger turns it on, bootloop soft brick or however have you, very simiilar to an Apple device and their DFU (don't f up mode cause screen is black..)
I hope that helps you get in touch with your family and friends.. Whatever you do, don't give up bc if you have not got it yet, you will! One other note, there are a few different msm tools available and they look the same some same size, but the one that supposed to work on my phone didn't and one that they say only a fool would attempt to try actually saved me, so if all else fails, use a different msm tool/usb cable and you will get it! I don't think I can post links yet I am on here very rarely, but plan on more! I have received so much help from XDA throughout the years on thousands of phones with just software issues alone, aas well as guides to my own phones. I would be honored to give back as I also have some extensive knowledge on many devices but I am a noob in comparison to many! Stay safe, good luck and please update and let us/ me know how it worked out for you. If i can help further I will, I have every firmware file for the OP6t, recovery, tools, software, this is not new to me but I feel your frustration!
