SiRFInstantFix and SiRFDemo - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Has anybody managed to get SiRFInstantFix (or any other functionality) within SiRFDemoPPC working?
Although the application runs on my TyTN connected via bluetooth to my GlobalSat BT-338 mouse, the comm port will not connect up.
I have tried using the ExternalGPS configuration settings within WM6, but that doesn't help. Does anybody have any suggestions please?

Bluetooth Belkin GPS and Rom 1.72

I have upgraded to rom 1.72 and am trying to get my bluetooth gps setup without using the bluetooth tools. I can get the device added and it sets up the port profile fine. I installed pharos gps software and belkins gps software. The pharos software just exits when I turn it on for the gps to work, and the belkin just brings the ppc to a crawl. It never seems to get any data back though. I used the same gps on my laptop with a bluetooth usb device and it works fine that way. Can anyone give me any suggestions on making this work again on my ppc without having to install the bluetooth tools?

Bluetooth Manager WM5

Is it just me, or is the Bluetooth manager with WM5 a lot less helpful than previous versions?
I go in, I can assign an outgoing port for my GPS receiver, but how do I check it is connected, or even, force it to connect?
I'm trying to get iGuidance to work on my M5000, but it doesn't seem to be receiving the data from my BT GPS receiver... and I'm not sure how I check its connected... although TomTom5 seems to find it fine...
Anyone help me?
Any help on this matter?
Thanks.
Its because its using the MS implementation of Bluetooth and not the Widcomm which is much better and provides more info.
Not sure if anyones managed to rip out MS and replace, but if not possible we need to wait for MS to implement more functionality.
I have iGuidance 2.1.3NA up and running perhaps I can help.
Tell me what you have done so far and what GPS you are using.
Dah
I set the Outgoing Bluetooth port as Port 8, then load iGuidance and try and set 8 as the relavent port... but nothing registers
Is there an option somewhere to tell it it's bluetooth GPS not wired?
iGuidance does not need to know that it is Bluetooth or not. Just which port it is on. I suspect that it is how you have created the bond with the Bluetooth GPS. Take a look at this thread as well, Where is the GPS API gateway in 1.13.53 WWE of JasJar I have given some instructions on how to set the connection up here.
Hope that helps.

Wizard problems with NOKIA GPS receiver

Installing IGO on my WIZARD everything was fine but when I tried to connect it (via bluetooth) with NOKIA LD3W GPS can not connect it.The WIZARD see it ,enter the code to connect and then can not connect it.Compatibility problem?
I have the same Nokia LD-3W adapter and a Prophet. If somebody can help, I have the same problem. Pairing is ok, selecting Serial Port ok, but in iGo there is no connection with the device. Anyway, when I manually change the port in GPS setting page, there is a LED that turns from red to green and flashing. Any ideea?
Thanks!
Hi
I have the same Issues with my Vodafon VPA II Compact.
I Installed the latest ROM from Vodafon - but no help.
Any Hacks? - the Mouse is working fine with my Laptop.
you may have to make a secure connection for it in bluetooth settings.
i found that worked on the old rom...but doesnt on the AKU2 roms.
Problem solved!
In the last version of iGo (30.05.2006) they solved this problem! U just take this from here and copy it in c:\program files\igo. Works excelent!
Remember! Bluetooth ON, pair the device, select COM port, then in iGO settings select NMEA protocol, 38400 speed, select manualy the port that u selected in Bluetooth manager and non-secure connection. Then just turn off and then back on the receiver and that`s it!
Good luck!

I've got the same combination (Wizard - Mr. Clean AKU 2.3 ROM + Nokia GPS, using TomTom) and it's working without problem. Pair it, create Outgoing COM port but uncheck "Secure connection". Don't use WM5 GPS settings to share the port.

great! radku thank's it helped! i was still trying to set wm5 ports and when i switched them off it works!
Hi
now i am on IGO and a Hermes (t-mobile vario II) and again the **** will not work...
My Custom GPS Application works.
IGO not. - seems like it doesn't like the protocol or something.

Where do you find the setting to uncheck secure. It works fine with Microsoft Livesearch but not with Garmin XT Software. Maybe it has something to do with my settings. I am using WM6.1...help.

XDA11s problem with TomTom, BT and GPS reciever

Hi Good Peoples,
My first post here and I hope you will excuse my ignorance please. I am hoping that someone can help me, as I would pull my hair out, if I had the left.
I have an XDA 11s and I have installed TomTom software. The satellite receiver is a Haicom HI-701 BT (four in one Bluetooth) and I have a number of problems.
When I installed the GPS hardware, in the Bluetooth Services section I installed it as a serial port connection and have the enable service box ticked. Do I need any other boxes here ticked?
The Bluetooth Manager shows the Haicom shortcuts, but it does not connect on start-up. It has to be manually connected. Once it is connected, unfortunately it shows no dataflow, in either direction. I think that is the second problem.
The Bluetooth flashing light shows that the Bluetooth connection has not been made; what do I need to do to fix that?
When I start the TomTom, it shows that I have no GPS Device (now there is a surprise) and I tried to configure it using the NMEA option with 4800 baud rate. However I then have eight options ranging from infrared through to Bluetooth serial to choose from, and I'm not sure which one I should be using. I mucked around for hours and had working for about one minute, but unfortunately I can not repeat the trick.
Is there anyone out there who could be kind enough to please tell me how to configure the thing please?
XDA IIs
The XDAIIs is a BlueAngel - try posting in the correct forum next time.
Make sure that you have selected the "outgoing connection" - not the "incoming connection" when choosing the serial port in TT.
Also turn on BT and manually connect to the GPS first - somethimes I had to do that rather than rely on TT to do it for me.
You asked whether other boxes sould be ticked - what are these - I no longer have a BA and can't remember...
Charlie Grillo
oops sorry, I was not sure which forum to post it under as the BlueAngel did not specify IIs, although the picture looked like a better match.
I hate to sound like a total technical cretin but what is TT?
The other boxes are:
Authorisation requires
Authentication (Passkey) Required
Encryption required.
Thanks for the response.
TT = TomTom
I have found a fix for my XDA2 with Tom Tom and GPS BT-321 H
This was such a headache for me but through persistance - I got it working
This is how I did it
1. I downloaded - Bluetooth tool 1100 "BTHTools1100"
this help me to asisgn my Holox BT-321 to my XDA2 via bluetooth to port Com7
2. I then downloaded "GPSTuner_v5" & GPSmonitor1.1
These programes enable me to talk to my GPS and adjust PORT COM setting and also Band rate
having got these programes to work and pair with my GPS
the next step with TOM TOM6 worked fine trying different ports
All the Best to all XDA fans out there!!!

Bluetooth Problems

Hi all. I've used my Qtek with TOMTOM and a bluetooth GPS antenna for many time. Some days ago, the system don't run anymore.
The problem is in the Universal Bluetooth: I can find and add bluetooth devices but, when i use it, there is not communication. So, for example, i can connect my Universal with GPS antenna in the bluetooth section, but TOMTOM tell me that there isn't a GPS antenna. Also, i can link via bluetooth my Universal with the notebook, but i cannot start an Activesynk session via bluetooth: it tell me that no pcs are connected even if in the bluetooth list there is my pc and in the service list there is "activesynk" and it is activated.
Now, it is a software or an hardware problem? Any idea? I've anjlurned my software at the AKU 3.2 last italian ROM, but it didn't help.
Thanks in andvance for the help and sorry for my english.

Pls help me. In what manner i can test if it is an hardware problem or only a software problem?
Idum
I have same problem ...
but still dont know the way how to fix
First
For TT to work with your bt gps you have to create a unsecured incoming port, take COM0 or any other number.
then it should already work in TT, if it not select in TT a GPS receiver and select com0
You have to create a com port for the BT connection and enable that com port in your AS on your pc.
To sync with AS over BT you have to select Connect with BT on your Device!!!
