Hi Guys,
Would anyone know were I can find a circuit diagram or component list for the MDA Compact III.
I opened it to clean very slight water damage & knocked off a very small component next to the USB/ charging connector & can't find it anywhere DOH!!!!
Since this component fell off the microphone doesn't work. I just need to know what this component was so I can buy another one & refit it.
Any ideas?????
Also, before this problem occured, the phone software would regulary crash.
Pressing the Green phone symbol wouldn't do anything untill its rebooted. V anoying

i have been searching here in Egypt for some parts i need to fix my PDA. i needed
1. the metal piece on the sync connector. {Shown Below}(this part is essential for the connector to be firm; without it; the connector will be lose and will cause the connetor to be disconnected from the borad!!!); offcourse this is really annoying. when ever i need to chrage the PDA; i put the battery in the auxilary slot located on the cradel (after i take a full backup ofcourse). when batteries are full; put them back; restore; set time/date. and so on.
2. Side slider button. (a very tiny part on the side the button used for volume leveling is broken) although it is not that important i can manage without it.
3. Speaker. (makes a really noisey sound when the PDA rings. i have tried to lower the volume but still noisey; i alos tried to clean the speaker).
yes it looks like the mainboard needs a replacement. i have also checked that metal part coating the sync connector is sold out on ebay. But could not find a complete mainboard. please if anyone has any ideas whatsoever please let me know i really need help. if anyone has a mainboard i can buy it.
Thank you...
Khaled
most likely all htc devices use std components
try getting hold of the part nr's and check around

like here
it would be insane if it had special parts and anybody would stock sparepart fro all devices or even some
really bad business unless that person charged more then a new pda was worth
of cause you can get a broken one and canabalise it for spares too
So I bought a new housing for my O2 XDA II Mini, during the removal of the display ribbon I broke the little black part on the display connector which holds the ribbon down, and after hours of trying to get the ribbon back in and secured I have bent the pins in the connector to buggery.
The ribbon appears to be untouched, however the connector which the display ribbon goes into is broken.
Is there anywhere I can get hold of one of these little connectors to replace my broken one, obviously very sensitive soldering will be needed to remove the old one and solder the new one in place.
Alternatively, does anyone know any mobile phone repair shops in Auckland, New Zealand who would be able to help out with my situation?
I fear all i'm going to hear back is "the motherboard needs to be replaced", however I am determined not to go through this route, as I am a poor student and the phone sounds as if it functions fine, makes the beepy noise when first starting up on the setup screen.
I was very careful with the actual screen unit while removing it, and I have had signs of life earlier on in the broken connector episode, however I can no longer get anything showing as I can't fit the cable in.
Cheers for any help.
Anything would be appreciated.
"obviously very sensitive soldering will be needed"
And that only can be done by machines/robots. I don't think humans are even able to sloder those kind of connections...
But, could you post a picture? cause I might have suggestions on how to fix it. One would be to bend back the pins on the tiny slot with a toothpick and when done to tape the flatcable, so it stays there.
I've maybe got a spare creen for you.

Hi, I've still got a SPV 500 and a MDA Compact, need to find it if you want you can have my MDA Compact screen.
Just PM if you are interested.
after months of using my device, qtek s100, after a reinstall of windows (same that i'm installing everytime) when it tells me "tap the screen..." i tap, and ask me for calibrating. I'm calibrating him, and still ask for calibrating, with no end...the problem was manifested when the windows still worked and everywhere i was pressing, it was like i was pressing on Start everytime, even if i was pressing on clock for example. what should I do? pleaseeee
hello mate, why not try to upgrade your OS
hy. i've upgrade it to 1.13 which everytime worked. then i've upgrade it to 2.03 which has the same problem. does exists another OS to upgrade?
Ady_uaic, I also have that problem and FINALY i've figured it out...
above the LCD screen, there's a thin transparent glass screen (touchscreen), which has a small ribon that connects to your phone.
check this link for a picture of it: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-Dopod-818-i...ryZ41343QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (*)
The thing is...once, when i was opening my phone, i did a small cut on the ribon by mistake and now the screen behaves like that...I've found that if i gently push that touchscreen to the right, the ribon will sometimes bend a little bit and will make a perfect contact which allows me to keep the phone aligned...unfortunately this is only temporarely since sometimes the ribon moves and of course, the alignment is lost...So, i would advice you to check if the ribon is intact and not broken somewhere...if it is broken, then you know what to do: Buy a new touchscreen and/or an LCD w/ touchscreen included.
Hope this helps...
Regards,
Keeper
(*) although similar, do note that this touchscreen AIN'T for the magician, so don't order this one!
hello..thank you for your quick answer..i will try and i'll let you know
Sound like a hardware problem ... try flushing a new rom, if not , take it to a lab.
open up the device and reconnect the display ribbon wire properly after cleaning with a soft cloth.
the ribbon may disalign after a fall or dismantling the device and certain other factors.this is the only possible fault.if it doesn't workout, you may have to get the lcd changed.
hay i recently dismantled my HERM100 to figure out why my battery life went to hell, and where most of the heat in the front was being generated, as it turns out i have a short somewhere in my Front camera board, and need a replacement.
does anyone know (preferably in australia) where i can get the component, other than on ebay, or is anyone willing to sell a "bricked" hermies so i can just swap the mainboards round and go?
this also seems to be messing my camera functions, and front led's have gone dull, other than that its working fine.
but if anyone has known this to be a software issue in the past, this fault only became apprent after i updated the boot loader, and software for the wi-fi/GSM and OS, or it was just going to do it at that verry moment becuse murphy hates me!
on another note is there a copy of windows mobile 6 that will work with PDA's as reasion being i recently handed over my old HP-R17 somthing or rather, to a friend who needed one, as fortune follows he like my self hates the ok button that dosent close squat, but minimises things and i am feeling that the taskmanager designed for WM6 wont work on a pda with WM5 that too and he would prefer to update, just wondering if anyone has tried this before!?
ps ... bump!
FIXED
i managed to fix it, it was a shorted capacitor on the camera board connected to U2, i think it was U2, but it only was connected to the LED's this cap is connected to the Ground and positive going rail and is mostly a filter cap, it was a little burnt and fell off easly after which all worked cool again and no problems with either the front camera or the main camera.
this thing was so small it was only visable as a faulty component under a high power magnification
Hi, peeps. Would like to ask for your assistance in troubleshooting my old T-Mobile MDA - the one that is also the Xda mini S.
The unit in question is 2nd hand although it was still in good shape when I got it. Used it for over a year already and has seen much use. Once, the insides got wet and I had to dry it out but it was okay after that. Although the keyboard wasn't showing any backlight until I figured out that a blowdryer would help remedy that situation (after careful dismantling).
Recently, the screen when you slide open the keyboard either comes up blank (whole screen is just white) or is discolored and a bit disaligned (the top part is either missing or is at the bottom of the screen). It happens too on the normal layout at times.
I upgraded the firmware with the most recent one I downloaded here last year. No problems experienced though with regards to the OS and not sure if the recent problem can be attributed to it.
Any ideas and suggestions?
I got the same problem on with the screen my Cingular 8125. When I slide the keyboard open, the exact same thing happens to my screen. Sometimes It only used to happen maybe once every 10th time, but as of last, it is happening all the time.
I spoke to someone at a repair store in Toronto and the guys said it will cost close to $100 to replace some wiring in the back. It didn't seem worth it for me so I got another phone instead, but I would love to keep using this phone if this could be replaced.
Hey guys. If you are comfortable, I would suggest dismantling the phone and taking a look at the ribbon connector between the board and the screen. My guess is that it is loose, or damaged. Reseat the ribbon and try again. Otherwise I would see if replacing the screen helped. Certainly much cheaper than a new phone...
Reseating
first of all check out the socket (on board) where the screen coaxial cord is plugged in , r all the connector pins alligned or are any bent / pulled back ?
in that case reset pins location using a tiny neidle or pin, also use a double faced adheisive tape on the back of the screen connector to rest it tight to keyboard (original setup only they use glue).
second check out if the screen does that if was flipped using software , if it was a hardware case and upper solution wouldnt help then check to see if the sliding mechanism (two plastic identical bars screwed by two screws each to the top and the buttom of the screen) are aligned and screwed tigh to the screen.
now the wizard hardware is a survivor but any tampering with it require tight reseating , screwing and later reflashing (even if the software showed unaffected).
