Automate multiple outlook email account synchronization using wifi grps etc
WM5 and Up
Attachment and description in the following thread.

(Sorry posted under Hermis thread)
Looks like this post of mine pushed down too fast because of the WM6 release(Wrong timing )
So i am just bumping my post up.
Update Version 1.0.1(23 Aug 2007)
One touch synchronization support added. A Very good feature for people checking mail manually, so that you do not have to switch accounts and click the sync menu each time or start/stop wifi etc, just one click to do all that now. You can also assign this shortcut to hardware buttons too.
Please follow the instuctions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316696
Update 1.0.2
There was a bug..
If you used Wifi to sync then any subsequent attempt to switch on wifi using the communication manager would fail(till soft reset )
Its fixed in version 1.0.2 now
Original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316696
Update 1.0.3
New connection option added so now you can connect using WIFI first if WiFi not available then the default (GPRS/Edge/3G) would be used. (Note: you need to configure the connection setting to this to work properly).
Another setting ‘Sync only while sleeping’ added, with this setting, as the name suggests the automatic synchronization occurs only if the device is sleeping. So if not sleeping it won’t interfere with your activities on the device.
Latest cab file is updated to the first post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316696

Can someone please help to do over-the-air sync with Qtek 9100.
I have been trying for this a long time and never got it working.
Thank you,
Florian
Wi-Fi synching has been removed frm Activesynch 4.0 onwards by MS due to security concerns. That'll be why you can't get it to work.
If you want to synch using Bluetooth then search the forum as this has been discussed in length on several threads
Thank you for your prompt answer.
I was looking for internet sync thru Wifi or GPRS/Edge.
Is there another app out there that can do the job?

I believe some one has released a free patch to override the 'Wifi syncing in AS 4.0'. I don't have the file handy- but will try and post later if the original poster still wants it.
I've not tried it myself since I'm still using WM2003 and AS 3.8.
I would love the patch to enable WiFI active sync if someone could post it. cheers.

well, it seems to be a solution:
http://www.airscanner.com/downloads/airfix/airfix.html
didn't try it by myself, so - no idea if it's usable and functional. but - always one more option ;-)
cheers,
Radek
Yes, that's the same link that I got the patch from.
Maybe someone can try it out and post back results?
Actually, just read the text from the link and it quotes the following:
"Please note that AirFix is not designed to allow ActiveSync over a WiFi connection. Rather, it is a tool that allows you to enable the wireless network after you are already synced with the PC (e.g. with a USB ActiveSync connection)."
Perhaps not what people were looking for after all...
I am currently trying to set up the app.
Expect a post shortly.
Did not find a way to make it work.
Also their download page states :
Please note that AirFix is not designed to allow ActiveSync over a WiFi connection.
As I doubt they have a solution...
You can sync over the air via GPRS or WiFi to an Exchange Server without a problem, I do it everyday; to a PC I don't now if it's possible anymore.
The Airfix app is designed to prevent active sync closing your current wifi conex, nothing more. This will allow software developers to debug network code and allow you to keep a wireless connection whilest you sync. Most home users will use activesync passthrough from their pc->internet rather than wifi-> internet and so notice no difference
Just sitting in a restaurant, no wifi, not connected in anyway to anywhere.. and the Activesync shows up ?!?!? Writing the correct last time I synced my device (which was this morning at home). WTF is this?
go to activesync app on the ppc
create a server source
enter a totally fictitious name and address
follow the wizard, dont select any items to sync
set the period to sync as manual for both
finish the wizard
open the options
delete the new server source
the default setting is to auto start and sync, by creating the fictitious entry it allows you to change those settings
deleting the server source retains the sync period settings

Simon,
I have done this numerous times when I had the O2 ROM. Now I have the IMate ROM, it works if I am not connected to anything, so that is good, for that is what I want. One thing I notice when I am connected through WIFI, active sync application on my Exec still opens up on the background. Are you having the same experiences with this setup or am I missing a setting here?
my active sync doesnt auto start AS at all anymore if i set the server source to sync manually, then delete the server source.
i use wifi a lot and it also doesnt start it.
there could be other reasons such as programs you have that auto update from the web when wifi is running, eg SPB weather. again, i set this to update manually.
what other programs do you have that require or use an AS or WIFI connection?

rk-OSR version 1.0.10 Automatic windows mobile outlook mail and exchange active synchronizer.
Here is a application I developed for my personal use now sharing with you all for non commercial use.
I basically use this utility to check emails from multiple email accounts from my windows mobile device using the wifi, gprs networks
You can even perform Exchange Active Sync too!
Feature list
Works on windows mobile 5 and 6.
Can sync up multiple email accounts at multiple schedules setup.
Can perform Exchange Active Sync.
Connect using: Wi-Fi only, Wi-Fi if not GPRS, Manual Wi-Fi, Gprs Only or Existing connection(USB)
Switch off GPRS/3G after sync
Option not to sync during Saturdays and Sundays
Get notified on emails or failed attempts
Get notified with custum sound(wav files).
Keeps device 'Alive' till all the accounts have been synchronized.
Supports 'Silent' mode.
Supports command line initiation.
Supports one touch* email checking(one touch on the shortcut connects to wi-fi network and switches between accounts and synchronizes and then hangs up wi-fi)
Can be set to sync only if device sleeping.
Does not write anything to registry.
Does not run in background.(works on notifications)
You can uninstall the application from ‘Remove programs’ and delete the application directory.
Installation:
Install the cab file attached below
After installation launch the program rk-OSR from the programs and go thru each tab page to configure it and finally save the settings (make sure the Enable check box is checked) test the functionality if working properly. Then close the application. Now the sync should happen at next specified schedule.
*One touch synchronization: A Very good feature for people checking mail manually, so that you do not have to switch accounts and click the sync menu each time or start/stop wifi etc, just one click to do that now. You can also assign this shortcut to hardware buttons. The new install adds a new program icon called ‘rk-OSR-Now’ to your programs list. But you need to do the following procedure done before attempting ‘rk-OSR-Now’ shortcut.
You should configure the ‘rk-OSR’, and make sure it is working properly and you are able to synchronize your accounts properly.
You must edit the shortcut, rk-OSR-Now; add additional text “Now” without quotes. Basically your target should read as below
"\Program Files\rk-OSR\rk-OSR.exe" Now
Hope it is simple to configure.
I have been using it on TyTn with WM6.
By the way this is my first WM application!
Code:
Following command lines supported
"\Program Files\rk-OSR\rk-OSR.exe" Now ---> Checks the mail manually
"\Program Files\rk-OSR\rk-OSR.exe" Enable --> Enables the rk-OSR
"\Program Files\rk-OSR\rk-OSR.exe" Disable --> Disables the rk-OSR
Update: 1.0.10
Added better file browser to locate the *.wav files
Fixed the bug with the 'Wait time to Sync'
Email.zip is a sound wav file 'You got mail' (ofcourse female voice! )
Note: this application requires Compact Framework 2.0
You need compact framework 2.0 installed inorder to run this application. The compact framework is already part of WM6, so if your device is WM6 skip this step. But most of the WM5 devices do not have this update. So you must download here and run the installation on your desktop (then active sync to update your device). Only after completing this step install the application.
New: If you want 'Push Like Mail' support please follow the application link to rk-SMS Switch
How to info for rk-SMS Swich with rk-OSR here
If you like the application please show your support by donation on Paypal
Download from here

If you have synchronization problems already the rk-OSR might not work for you.
rk-OSR just schedules the outlook synchonizations, all the sync logic is on the outlook, not in rk-OSR
First you have to fix the problem with your sync, then only you could use rk-OSR
HTH
rk-OSR Update 1.0.1(One touch sync)
Please read the first post for the updated information and the cab file.
tytnguy - I'll try the app and get back here.
the idea sounds solid and do sync manually, so thx for the app allready
Keep up the good work in making life better for everyone

I'm not sure why this app is not getting more attention, i mean syncing over wi-fi, isnt that what everyone has been cribbing out ever since AS4/WM5 came out??
neways, thnx for the app, will try it out..
let me see if I understand this app correctly before testing it :
At a given schedule it will turn on wifi
Synch
disconnect wifi
Right ?
What if im not at home at the time, so dont have wifi, will it default to GPRS ?
What happens to the schedule I have allready set in activesync ?
Right now i have just scheduled in active synch. So it uses either wifi provided I turned it on when i got home or if not turned on, GPRS.
thks

Question:
Hi there tytnguy, I've got a question:
I'd like to use your app; I have an exchange account for work; but for my private mail I use the Outlook Mobile. The problem is that when I set it to sync every 30 minutes or so; it keeps doing that during the night; waking me (an the misses) every time someone tries to sell me Viagra, Russian brides or weight-loss pills.
The times you enter in the "schedule-tab"; are those the exact times that the app will sync? Or are those the times between which the "outlook-Mobile schedule" will be active?
BTW: looks brilliant for a first-timer!

Sure, in active sync, in the email properties you can say check for new mail every 4 hours or2 hours etc.., and determine settiings for peek, and off peek days/times.
It then checks if i have new email according to this, using either wifi provided I leave it on, or gprs if wifi is off.

Brilliant! I just had it sync; works like a charm!
The only thing: the device wakes up. Any change of performing the actions in the background? So the screen doesn't come on?

Are you able to setup the network configurations to use Wifi and if not available then to use GPRS?
I am not able to do it on my TyTn?
I dont think I setup anything specific really...
If Wifi is avaialble and the phone is connected to my acees point at home it uses wifi to connect to the internet and so on
If its not, it goes through connecting to the net via GPRS
Im running WM6 by the way.

Hi, I installed Intellisync on my new HTC Touch Dual. If I trigger Sync by pushing the button everything works fine.
My surprise the ReadySync scheduler does not work! The PDA does never trigger an unattended sync.
Tried with device on & off, forced connection, etc. with no success.
Also tried to install different versions of the CABs. The two I have are 6.5 and 7.0.5. The same versions work fine on other WM6 devices of my colleagues (TytN, Glofish).
Any idea?
Found the solution
Hi, nobody answered my question but I think I found the solution which I post in case someone else has the same problem ...
The issue is with Connection Documents. The HTC auto-configured GPRS/Edge/UMTS at first setup based on info from my telecom provider (Swisscom).
For some reason intellisync has a problem in reading these connection documents. What I did is creating a new copy manually with the same GPRS settings and set "Auto Pick" option under Connection Manager.
After that Intellisync started to execute scheduled synchronizations! Strangely the manually created connection is not visible in its connection setup list, but who cares - it works.
Do you know where can I get the Intellisync cabs? The one my company provided me with makes my Niki to reboot after each sync. (Pretty annoying..)
Anybody?
Intellisync
We cannot
For these reasons :
1) Intellisync is copyrighted and we do not use warez
2) The client is linked to the server version. You cannot install ver 8 on your pda to synchronize with a version 7 server for exemple
3) Every intellisync server comes with a full set of intellisync client so your company have the right one for you
I have a problem similar to one discussed in this thread but that thread appears closed with no definitive resolution so I am posting here.
I upgraded to swtos' WM6.1 WWE 1.52.7 OS 5.2.19900 ( Build 19900) Light V0.99 UC True Page Pool 32MB. Using my AT&T data plan with the wap.cingular APN, etc., I am able to access the Internet wirelessly with no problem. However, I can't access email wirelessly. I keep getting "error synchronizing" followed by "can not connect with current connection settings." I can access my email through an ActiveSync or WMDC connection with a computer, so the email settings are OK. Also, I tried the same data connection configuration on my wife's HTC Advantage which has an older ROM and can access my email wirelessly no problem on that device. So I'm really scratching my head on this one Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
The other thread is not closed you just could have attached a new message there instead of opening another thread.
I found out that the new ROMs use a broken connection setup assisstant database. It gives me a wrong configuration for my Switzerland based operator and it gave me a wrong connection setup for T-Mobile USA when I was there recently. I suspect the database (all cookers seem to be using by now and it pisses me off) to be the source of your problems. Flash the official ROM and then try e-mailing. If it works, flash the custom ROM again but do the connection setup manually. You should find the values either on the AT&T website or somewhere around here I guess.
Edit: I'm not talking about the e-mail account setup, I'm referring to the Operator Wizard/Connection Setup/Connection Wizard tool to be found under Settings > Connection
Sorry about not posting in the prior thread.
You're correct about the connection database. However, I entered my connection manually. So that wasn't the issue.
Turned out I just had to kick start the data connection for email by first accessing my email through WiFi, then turning WiFi off and trying again through my data connection. That worked. I've seen this before. I guess it is an issue with initializing the connection.
I've since upgraded to WM6.1 WWE 1.52.7 OS 5.2.19400 ( Build 19400) Light V1.00 UC True Page Pool 20MB. FWIW, the problem did not recur.
