SPV M3100 issues - anyone else having the same? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Issues are
1) When using the wired headset shipped with the device, if I answer a call then both the handset mic and the headset mic are active, the only solution I have found is to unplug then reconnect the headset...
2) Sometimes when cold booting the device it immediately says no networks, the only way I have found round this is to switch to flight mode, then back out again
3) Orange world downloads - site claims it can't identify my phone model, orange assure me this will be fixed within 2 weeks of the phone activation, do I believe them?
Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

There are two orange uk aps. orangeinternet and orangewap. Only one allows you to access the orange specific services. I think I use the other one however....

I've had the issue with the phone not switching back on after soft resets too
Tis a pain... Eventually I'll get a call on my work mobile as friends can't get me on the other
I think it's worth checking every time...

Second incoming call cuts off first

I am experiencing a problem when I am on an incoming call talking and I get the beep for a second incoming call. I keep talking on call one, when suddenly I am not able to hear the first caller. The display shows first call still running.
Has anyone else experienced this before I take phone back to dealer and does anyone know of a cure. My callers are getting a bit frustrated at being cut off.
I have ROM 1.66.00WWE, dated 02/20/04, downloaded from O2 official site and radio ver 1337.18. My XDA2 is unlocked using XDA developers tool. My SIM is on the Orange network in UK.
Any help gratefully appreciated.

GPRS can not reconnect after receiving incoming call!

Hi everyone,
I am having an annoying issue with the GPRS connection on my Qtek S100.
I am usually connected through GPRS to receive my email and to be online with MSN Messenger. The only time I do not use GPRS is when connecting through Active Sync or when making/receiving a call. My problem is that if I do not explicitly end the GPRS connection before making a call or connecting through active sync I have to restart the phone by going to flight mode before I am able to get a new GPRS connection. The problem is even worse with incoming calls as I can not end the GPRS connection by pressing the red button before I answer the call as that will hang up on the person calling me instead.
I believe it got this way after applying the latest software upgrade from www.qtek.se.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
yes me to.. also after latest upgrade...
dont know what to do.. im gonna call brightpoint..
I've sent you a PM.
Let me know when you have spoken to Brightpoint and I will call them again.
Any news regarding this?
I do also have these problems with GPRS.
Works fine for me…
Hi,
I have up till now used Telia but just switched over to Comviq, works fine for med, both with Telia and Comviq.
// Johnny
Talked to Brightpoint today.
It seems like not everyone gets this problem, and to their knowledge none of their own phones has it. They did however hope for a solution with the next software update (no news on when that will be available though). They also asked me to contact Engström Telecom to find out if they had any idea. When I found time to call Engström they had closed for the week, so I'll get back with more info next week.
I had a slight variation on this problem. GPRS session was actively downloading data when a call came in, and then before I could answer it, a message came up saying that the call could not be answered. What's that all about?

My problem seems to have automatically cured itself during the weekend. I guess Telia must have made some upgrade to their network, cause I am quite sure I didn't do anything!

update xda2i

have received my 3rd 2i from o2 uk this week i test the gprs problem and this 3rd device has it so ive rung o2 and will ring them on monday to see if they have tested there model yet
the problem is this if you plug anything in to the bottom of the 2i be it power lead gps data cable then it breaks the gprs conection to only way to get round this is to either turn on flight mode then turn off flight mode or do a soft reset :?
the data support lady i spoke to is going look at it i have her name and extention number so should get some answers ive mentioned this is a device problom and should be referd back to htc the new device is going back and im keep my current 2i the second one i received ill let you know how it goes next weekend as i work away all week as a trucker in the uk
This happens to me as well. What also happens is that if you're connected to a power source like a car charger and you had the original headphone in the jack, the caller will not hear you...nor can you use the speakerphone option.
Luckily I've now got a BT headset that works with the new BT stack on the 2i, but for a few days I was VERY frustrated with the 2i. Now I'm quite happy.
Another thing. When I go to work I use Total Remote to send the IR signal to open the garage doors and I have to take it out of the car cradle in order to point it within 2cm of the sensor (damn non-commericial IR port). When I put it back in the cradle, I get the "ding" sound of having disconnected from something and the o2 active ui is closed as well.
Worth mentioning when you speak to them again. I think it's an OS problem not a hardware issue.
Cheers
Anthony
This seems like it could be a common problem, I've posted a very similar request;-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18890
I do feel that this is a bug in the firmware, hopefully it will be fixed shortly.
I noticed this and it really irritated me. Solution - and it works every time - is a hard reset which you interrupt with a soft reset BEFORE the O2 software is installed. On the soft reset, the XDA2i becomes a unit that connects to GPRS every time which hasn't got the O2 customisation.
I use it with Smartner's push email solution. An excellent piece of software. See www.smartner.com
I don't think its the o2 customisation as I've removed this by disabling the Today screen items and then using the remove software option.
Another item that I find annoying is the screen rotation icon, it randomly disappears, I'm not sure if this is related, soft reset corrects this problem.
Trust me, it is the O2 customisation. I've done three hard resets (just testing various software options) and it works a treat. Beat the O2 crap and it's a perfect phone.
Based on previous suggestions I've carried a a cold reset and then a soft reset prior to the o2 installation, I now have a core XDA IIi without o2 modifications.
Unfortunately this does not solve the GPRS problems when connecting power etc, however it does seem to have improved. The camera is now more buggie...
As this is an intermitent problem I really think it is a firmware bug, abnd have logged it with o2, they are looking into it.
Didn't think it would....there's no reason for o2 to provide that "functionality"...just sounds more like an issue with OS interpreting a charger / car cradle and confusing the hell out of itself.
Ant
spoke to o2 this morning and its something they are looking with htc so a rom update COULD be on the cards for uk customers the problem is on there issue list atleast
I've had a response back from o2 regarding this issue, they said they had tried to reproduce the problem but couldn't, which didn't surprise me but they then suggested that I carry out a Corporate installation ie cold reset and then the corporate install.
Firstly you end up with an XDA IIi with all the applications installed but none of the o2 customisation, but you do manually have to configure the GPRS access point and email.
Having tried this configuration for a day now I must admit, things appear to have improved, the connection is still disconnected when attaching devices, but they reconnect without problems. Before I had to either reset the device or switch in and out of flight mode.
Knowing my luck this will all change tomorrow....
please keep us posted as to how it works without all the o2 crap on there
Thanks
Jonh

2G Radio Died after 1 month (MDA Vario II)

hi Guys,
As far as I am aware this new problem has only happened to me so far.
I bought a new T-mobile MDA Vario II back in September, It had a HTC634 Serial number and I duly checked it for the Screen and keyboard issues that have affected other Hermes models - the phone didn't display these issues at all.
However last Friday the phone developed an unusual problem - It would connect to a 3G signal with no problems at all, but when there was no 3G signal it would not connect to the normal 2G signal. It would just search for a signal and not find a T-mobile 2G signal!
The settings on the phone were as they were when I got the phone (set on Auto in both boxes for phone settings)
I initally thought that it might be a transmitter problem in my area, so I emailed T-mobile, they replied back saying that no problems had been reported. I soft-reset the phone several times and fiddled about with the phone settings, tried the phone without the memory card, but still it did not solve the problem.
I took the 3G SIM which came with the phone and placed it in another phone (Xda Exec), which found both the 2G and 3G signals without any problems at all - so it was not the SIM card. I could not try a different operators SIM in the Vario II since its network locked.
As a last resort I decided to do a Hard-reset, which reset every thing back on the phone to how it was when it was new - This DID NOT solve the problem!
Tuesday night I phoned T-mobile up (tip: If you want to be put through to a human directly and quickly on T-mobile Customer Services, then when the robot starts speaking immediately press 000000 - it puts you straight through and your call should be picked up a lot quicker (<5mins) than using the other options.
I explained my problem, they did an IMEI check and after half a hour on the phone (mostly on hold) they concluded that it was a phone problem and aggreed to exchange the handset (as a handset swap - no battery, box etc)
by courier this Monday.
I just hope I don't gain a few other problems with the exchange handset!

Device goes inactive after period of time

We are using an Intellisync server setup at work and we have around 15 SPV M3100 devices on this server.
The problem seems to be that once the device has lost signal or been static for a period of time then the server sees the device as not 'active' which means push email stops working, the device will look like it has full signal and everything is fine. Orange third line support have looked into this problem and they do reckon its not their network. I tend to agree due to the fact we have a M600 acting fine on the same server.
Orange can offer no more advice and say we have to wait for HTC to send software updates.......
I have upgraded one of the M3100 to radio stack 1.16.0.0 but after testing last night this does not seem to have made a difference.
Can anyone advise on a rom upgrade that may solve these issues as I am starting to loose hair over this one (and I aint got that much to start with)........
Cheers

Intellisync and Orangemail on SPV m3100
Not sure our two issues are related but I've been using Intellisync Mobile suite for quite a long time but since I moved to the SPV m3100 the Readsync no longer works.
I have used MEMAID to understand what was going on.
I have found that there is may be a conflict with Orangemail. I've tried to remove all the obvious reference to that app in the start up program, Start Up services etc but after a period of time the icon shows up again in the today screen.
I suspect there might be something going there ??
Anybody knowledgeable on this topic??
