Hi,
Could you guy's please help me out: I want to buy a preowned ("used" or "second hand") Universal.
If I was to have 10 minutes to test if the device is working without faults, what should I look after?
I figured that I should test:
- Reset: check the screen and any possible error messages
- See if strange effects appear on the screen, when rotating it
- Check the keyboard and other keys
- Check Bluetooth connectivity
- Check WLAN connectivity
- Check the phone with my SIM-card
Anything else worth checking?
I already have a Blue Angel and I like it so much (actually I depend on it, as I found out when I had to send it in two weeks for reapir), that I figured another phone as a backup would be nice - so why not move to the Universal for it's VGA-screen and faster processor.
My last question would be: is it really that much better? Or will it rather be annoying to have an even bigger phone, than the BA?
Thanks for your time and patience!
Best regards,
vma
That seems like a pretty good list. I'd probably want to add testing an SD card with it as well. The main thing I'd probably focus on would be the physical aspects of it because from a software point of view you can always hard reset the device and start fresh. (And honestly that's what I'd probably do first thing if I bought one second hand.)
I really can't speak to a comparison with the Blue Angel since I've only had the Universal. I've never had an issue with the size of the Uni as a phone, but I'm not a heavy phone user as far as talking goes (though I often have the data connection on.) Plus I have a bluetooth headset that I use most of the time for calls anyway.
hi mate i myself went from the xda 2s (same as you) to the universal. it is an amazing phone! i just cant fault it (obviously the size but when wearing a suit its alright because it can just go in your jacket.)
i am actully selling my xda exec. if you live near me i will be happy to let you play around with it before you buy. it is in great condition as it was a warrenty replacement device after the last one was playing up. havent used it for a while as i have an mda vario 2 now. since it is a better size for when you are down the pub..
ill probly sell the phone for around 240 or ono. comes with a spare battery as well
if you are interested my email is kerbys at gmail.com
most important from HW view is 2 check miniUSB connector, it loves to disconect from motherboard. if it will B possible try to connect it 2 computer, at least for few secs. if new HW appears in comp probable that its not dammaged, if U wonthave access 2 comp try 2 charge it (red led should be on)

If possible try to put one in bootloader mode and see the bootloader version. If it is 1 or below avoid. If you get ver 2.00 or above you can be assured of the latest hardware.

I agree. The G4 (which has the bootloader of 2 and above) also feels more solidly built and has a slightly better keyboard.
As well as the USB connector, also check that the phone accepts and recognises SD cards, check the infra red and check the screen carefully for scratches (you will need to hold it at different angles to a good light).

Not necessarilly true. My friend's G4 is now dead and a paper weight in just 4 month's, both bought brand new, as opposed to my 1 year and 4 month old G3. I still have bootloader version 1.00 and never had been stuck in any screen while upgrading. All the ROMs I flashed worked, and I've flashed my G3 a lot.
Hi guy's,
Thanks for you replies so far. To sum it up:
- Reset: check the screen and any possible error messages
- See if strange effects appear on the screen, when rotating it
- Check the keyboard and other keys
- Check Bluetooth connectivity
- Check WLAN connectivity
- Check the phone with my SIM-card
- Check the MiniUSB Connector with a PC (new device message should appear) and with a charger (red light should turn on)
- If possible: enter Boot-Menu and check Bootloader release. If >1 then it's a G4 model, which is newer, better, more robust
This could probably help as a general aide for other's as well.
Last questions:
1) Is a G3 model really that bad? What if I had one in mint condition in my hands? Should I NOT buy it?
2) Will entering in Bootloader-Mode cause a Hardreset afterwards? Would not be nice to wipe other people's memory off the phone and then NOT buying the phone...

Yes, that is a good guide line.
To answer your questions:
- Having a G3 is not bad, as I stated from my above post. Think of it this way, if you want the latest computer chip, look for the G4, thus ensuring yourself of whatever reason they were replaced was fixed in your device. They all depend on how rough you use your device.
- No, entering a bootloader mode would not cause a hard reset. You might be referring to a setup screen where you either choose or press "0" if you want to hard reset or press "X" if you want to soft reset. They are different.
- Well, the seller should be responsible enough to know that it is his or her own duty to wipe it of by himself or herself before selling it. For what it's worth, he or she should be thanking you for doing it.
G4's perform much better with wm6 (I have both), so if you are thinking of upgrading to it then i would go for one
Sorry, if I am pushing my luck with another dumb question...
Suppose I wanted to buy one from eBay. I doubt that any seller would go through the trouble to tell me the Bootloader revision.
Is there a way to assume which Bootloader the device SHOULD have, from the purchase date, i.e. if purchased after MM.YYYY, it probably won't be Loader <v2?
Also, I have seen many sellers trying to sell a MDA PRO which has recently been replaced by T-Mobile. I imagine they had a broken one (i.e. G3 model, from what I understand) and it has been replaced by a new one (they don't write anything about refurbished). Would that be automatically one with Loader >v2?
Will the unlocking described in the Wiki work with G3 and G4?
Again, I thank you guy's for your time!
Cheers,
vma
In my experience with O2 UK, they recondition handset's and unless you ask specifically for a brand new handset, you'll receive a reconditioned G3 model.... I had a battle with them for a couple of months over this lol Broke them in the end Every handset they tried to give me as replacement was a G3.
Because of this, I think it may be hard to rely on purchase date being equivalent to model number from O2.
Thanks!
I will try my luck at eBay...
Cheers,
vma

Hi!
Since yesterday my ok, windows, on and off hook and -- buttons aren't working anymore. The button in the middle and the cursor are still ok. Any ideas?
Due to the fact that the "--" (left and right) are not working I can't even do a hard reset.

Hi all,
OK I did a hard reset but it didn't work. Still no go :-(
The black coating is also peeling off. What a nice device.
mine just packed up too
more and more bugs are showing up every day passes... I somehow knew It would happen.. I don't think I'll take the risk of buying a p3600 through import without warranty after reading all these problems..
Good luck man
Trinity working well ..

While I dare not say my Trinity will be problem free, so far it has served me well. Everything is working as it should and the internal GPS has been enabled without a single problem. I'm on the test ROM (AKU3.3) and so far the performance is much better than my old Dopod 838 Pro (Hermes).
So far I have been very impressed with HTC built devices. A friend of mine's Dopod 838pro (Hermes) went into the pool accidentally, and it refuse to boot. After 3 days of intensive 'drying' it finally came back to life and it is working problem free until now.

Hehe, good to hear that....
I'm personally considering the hermes (TYTN) myself, because it's available here with warranty.. I hope the new ROM with AKU3.3 will improve it..

My personal advise to you would be to test the 3G call on that device before you buy it. The only advantage the Tytn has over Trinity is:
1) Flash light & Macro Picture
2) Keyboard
3) Additional hard button (Messaging, IE, 3G call)

The main reason I'm considering it is that i can buy it from here in israel with warranty, I don't wanna risk buying the trinity abroad.
I don't really care about 3G calls, I never use it, but 3G internet speeds aren't bad
the keyboard seems a big advantage over the trinity. The main advantage of the trinity is the small and pocket form factor, but unfortunately I can have it only by importing it

ok cheers, if it's any help they have repaired mine twice for this issue. Originally it went in for the peeling paint, but while they had it the buttons failed the test so were replaced. Then when they bodged the repair and it went back again, again the buttons failed the test and they replaced again.
Then when I get the phone back...the buttons don't work! Incidently before they started repairing the phone I never had a problem with the buttons
Hi!
I know that this thread is quite old but I prefer to post in this thread rather than opening a new one (sorry if I am not doing well but I am new at the community )
Yesterday I was working on a P3600 and suddenly all buttons stop working. The irDA also did not work. I have left the phone all the night without the battery (I really don't know what I was trying to achieve ), and this morning the buttons (and the irDa) did not work yet. Now, after a hard reset, it seems that all is working as it should.
My questions are, why after a hard reset? (it seems to point out a software issue); is this problem related to the touch screen problem I've been reading about in the forum? (perhaps the cause is the same); and finally, is it likely to appear again?
Thanks in advance
ROM version: 1.15.412.2 10/23/06 (original one)
Radio version: 1.20.00.11
ExtROM version: 1.15.412.101
My D-pad select, down, right and OK have been getting steadily worse requiring more pressure to use. Mine isn't software related. Just sent it back today asking for the black peeling issue to be repaired as well.
I held out as long as I could hoping that any issues had been resolved by HTC. I'll post when I get it back.

You will probably have to get return authorization through your retailer.
It's been about 2-1/2 weeks and no word from HTC. I emailed them today. I will be sure to post when I get it back regarding GPS Rom and peeling.
Just got it back - all pretty again. They replaced the bezel and switch board. Still has old rom but I am happy.

I've had the exact same thing happen twice now. Everything is going along fine and then suddenly all the keys stop working until I do a hard reset. The touch screen keeps going as normal. I haven't tested the IRDA but it appears that USB and active sync don't want to go either. A hard reset solves the problem but then I have to reinstall things which is annoying.
There must be other people out there with this problem. Has anyone come up with a solution?
I don't think, that there will be a fix...seems like a hardware problem to me.
I have nearly the same....the red and the green call buttons don't work properly!
For me they work immediately after a soft reset and then stop again within about 30 seconds. Hardware or software? it would appear to be software but I had the same issue using the official T-Mobile WM5 and still umder Black Satin WM6.....
think I'll flash back to official ROM and take it into the shop tomorrow!
Hi all,
I have a 8125 (Wizard) that I bought used with a broken LCD - I replaced the LCD with hopes of having a functional phone, but I'm not quite there...
It WAS working as a nice little PDA for a while, with the newest Cingular ROM (2.25 I believe). HOwever, I received absolutely NO signal on the radio - the little animation just constantly went like it was forever searching.
So, in my newfound expertise in flashing HTC devices, I decided to flash this to a different ROM. First, I tried the one they call Button 1.05. No bones - it'd drop connection before even going to the tri-color.
Next, I tried the SlimEdition 2.2b of WM6 (I wanted to put WM6 on it anyway, and with this old of a phone, I'm keeping away from excessive gadgets). Same deal as the Button 1.05.
On to the Faria WM6 I found in another forum. This one didn't even find my phone.
Before suggesting I try doing the flashes more than 1 time, I did.. I've been trying to flash this thing for over a month...
Additionally (and probably part of the problem), when I connect the phone to my mini-USB (no, not HTC OEM) it establishes connection about 1/3 of the time....the rest of the time I get a "USB Device not Recognized" warning from XP - I then disconnect it and reconnect it until AS4.5 sees it.
Most recently, I tried putting the Button 1.05 on again, and actually made progress...sorta...
Once I got the RUU running, I actually got it to progress to 2% before the RUU declared a connection failure. Stuck in the RUU screen, I tried all the ROM's I have on this thing, and none get past 2%.
So, NOW, I have an 8125 that's stuck in the RUU screen. I dont know what I can try next, or what might be the problem - however, if anyone knows or has spare parts they're willing to donate to science (I can afford to pay the shipping - that's about it) then I would be most grateful. My initial thoughts are bad USB port or mainboard, but I haven't a clue where to get them.
Alternatively, if I dont hear from anyone soon with good news, I will be offereing for sale 1 hardly used LCD/Digitizer combo for what I paid for it. (approx $45 USD).
Summary (long post, eh?):
1> Can I get out of the tri-color RUU screen, or did it getting to 2% and then dying effectively brick this phone?
2> Anyone have suggestions on what to replace to prevent AS4.5 (or even Windows) from misdetecting the phone when connected via USB?
3> Anyone have parts for above-mentioned repairs/replacements? I'd be most grateful....
TIA!
- M
Follow up - next day (yes, next day)....
Apparently, the Forum Gods were watching over me as I spewed about my flashing issues......
I tried flashing it one more time, using the Slim v2 WM6 ROM....wouldn't ya know, the sunnovabatch worked....
Dunno why or what I did differently, but I dont want anyone pounding their heads trying to find an answer for this....
(I'll still take any donor phones, though...this one is 'better', but still not 'great')
Thanks for lookin!

Well, I've never replaced one myself, but it looks like it's just a few solder joints....
Can anyone confirm this? I dont want to mislead you by saying it's easy, in case it just looks easy, and really isn't.....
Also, I think I saw a thread elsewhere where someone had a bunch of the USB connectors that (s)he was selling....search here first - I'm pretty sure it'll be a better deal than you'll find on fleabay....

I have been having teh following problems with my X1 and just spoken to O2, have arranged an exchange. I could probably do some reset on it and sort the problem, but since I am still withint the 28 days period, why the hassle?
- Phone loves turning itself off, not the screen, but the phone itself.
- Passcode playing trick, half of the time even I entre the correct code, it won't unlock my phone, and says wrong passcode.
- Installed apps can't be found even the successfully installed message shows up.
- none of the games I have installed works or else won't work to the full screen.
- Google Mail won't work after installed from the Google website.
Anyone eles have the same problems? Or is it just me?
as of now maybe just you mate, maybe something you have installed. maybe try to hard reset just to find out and if nothing happens then exchange it. it's worth the try mate and tell us what happens.
My Xperia has a faulty headphones socket I returned it to where I got it from, then they sent me another one. And guess what that had a faulty headphone socket as well.
When the headphones are inserted nothing happens. Also the headphone icon does not appear.
Any Ideas ??
A hard reset is a good idea, or I might have to wait forever for the phone to arrive, always out of stock... what is SE playing at?
I have tried hard reset and it dosent work
It seems to me that the X1 has so many little problems as I have heard / seen, this si my first WM phone, so can't compare... nearly sold my X1 for an iphone (I am a Mac user), but no, not worse the money.
maybe xperia phones are selling well, lol.
go for the hard reset mate.

hard reset won't solve the problem of your headphone problem mate, its a different problem
If you have problems with your X1s either
A) take them back to your supplier,
B) use the SE X1 support (theres a little silver card in with all the documents).
If the device is turning off (completely) then it's a hardware fault, have you checked the power settings?
funny enough, I had exactuly the same problem (phone turning itslef off) with my SE W960, sent it in for repair, nothing was found... I bet it would be the same this time, maybe I just don't have those so called "technician hands" I work in technical support and very often with the head technician touches certain things, they work!)
I have checked the power setting, nothing is wrong, just weird... maybe I am just unlucky.
Like other replies suggested, a hardware reset would probably do the job, but since I am still within the 14 or 28 days period, I would rather not take the risk of having the same problem again o day 29 where I would have to send it in for repair than having a new handset...
My biggest gripe with this phone is the double tap/ click bug or feature.
It appears that even while the screen is on and the back light is off, when you tap the screen it turns on the backlight and then you have to tap again to perform an action.
1 - never had that problem
2 - never had that one either
3 - Sometimes it does that, but it's the app's fault, not the phone's.
4 - Games are working fine if you install the "arm" ones adn the ones that are for ppc. The resolution is not a problem of the phone. It's just that the phone is new and not many game manufacturers support it. Yet.
5 - Idon't use Gmail sorry

Hmmm... you don't need to download the google app at all, that's for older, slower, low-mem devices.
I use google all the time
1- Open gmail's web page in Opera browser
2- Set up your gmail account in Mesages, it is autoamted and works a treat !!!
IN CONCLUSION: I think your phone is OK. Mine never turns off, never freezes, never hangs up
I've had the diamond, tytn etc and let me tell you this phone is far more reliable than those previous devices...
Don't blame the phone, blame some app or tweak you have done
May I suggest you to hard-reset the phone and start installing your apps, mods and tewaks one by one until you find the faulty one
Remember: this is not a simple "phone": ithis is a computer with Windows.
You wouldn't be blaming Dell if your PC becomes unstable after adding some programs/apps/games that are not suitable for your, let's say, video graphics card as an example
I have somewhat of a problem with mine 2.. It doesn´t seem to play any of my mp3´s that i put on it,but wma files work just fine.. Strangely it plays the mp3´s that were on it when i bought it.. Any idea what the problem might be??
Well, I have changed the setting abot teh power, still happening, nevermind, a replacement is coming tomorrow, so I guess I will just start fresh again. What do they do with these faulty phones? Do the fix them and sell the as reconditioned at a lower price or sth? How about those unwanted return? Just a matter of interest.
Gday all.. Think I have received a clone of a HTC T3232 from ebay, its even in HTC covers, how bad's that! (dispute in progress).
It does not respond to the HTC reset method (volume down & enter while switched off, and the small reset button at same time) so I can only presume its a clone.
Anyway the main problem is screen calibration, its out by miles, I cant even use the slide bar down the right hand side of screen.. I have done the calibration about 20 times via display settings and it does not help, the best reset I can do is via the clear memory tab in settings, that didnt fix it either.. Im not sure what its issue is, cant even figure out what sort of phone these "ripoff merchants" have sent me..
Any help would be much appreciated & thanks for reading my post

I think (and I could be wrong) that its volume down and enter then the power button for the touch 3g.
yes I tried that to, doesnt seem to work.. this is why im wondering if this thing is a HTY or something similar to a HTC, in HTC covers.. quite a letdown ..
the digitizer is miles out of wack .. is there a chance this is a rom issue or would the touch pad its self be shot ?
I've read somewhere about a clone having a different brand processor, check your system information:
start -> settings -> hardware
The real thing has the qualcomm 7225
Try to download an official rom update from the htc website. You will have to enter the serial-number of your device. If they deliver the download to your pc, you can be pretty sure it is not a fake one...
Is it not vol+ vol- and the power button all at the same time for hard reset?
Ok thanks guys, getting somewhere but its not all good, it has a Marvell pxa300 624MHZ CPU
one of the first things I tried a few days ago was updates from the HTC site, and it did NOT accept my serial number, so I think its a clone for sure. so my question is, will origional HTC software work on this clone if I download it from this site, OR will it not work because of the different processor ?
Should I even bother flashing the ROM as the opsys seems to be working fine, just the digitizer is out by miles, I ran DigItest last night and the screen was not always responding in the correct spot, correct maybe 50% of the time and the other 50% of the time it was miles out. almost NOnresponsive around the edges of the digitizer.
The seller I got it from also sells digitizers for this model lol.. I have to wonder if he didnt try to repair this phone from new, maybe a factory second or something ..
So guys whatya think?, flash rom, or grab a new digitizer from the 3bay ?
You got a clone for sure. But if you have buy it for less money i think its obvious its a clone. I got a clone too but i'm very happy with mine. No hardware issues for now, only some hard resets. I think you cant put a original ROM on a clone or can you? Btw in the phone info if for the model you got T3238 then you can be 101% sure its a clone
P.S. Btw the clone dont have build in GPS.
ok, yeah its t3238.. im prety sure it has inbuilt gps, they a$$ured me it did, but anthings possible im yet to test it coz the digitizer screens annoying me to much, dont want to even attempt to try and use it until I fix it.
Dont think the HTC rom works but im not 100% sure, im not used to these phones & there ways yet, still pretty much learning !
well, did you buy a clone or did you buy the real tough 3g? what did the presentation look like? i mean if the presentation lied to you, you did not pay money for the clone but for the real thing. then you might be able to redo the contract with the seller... maybe... good luck!
found the clone!
http://www.cectunlocked.com/OEM-HTC-Touch-3238-3232-Quad-Band-Phone-with-Windows-Mobile-6.1-WiFi-GPS.html
well...
ahh its a spitting image of a HTC, its in HTC covers, with HTC written all over it, apart from one spot I found inside the rear cover its clearly marked HTY.
The seller I used on 3bay told me it was a HTC not a clone, his discription was very deceiving. The phone turned up in a HTC box, with a HTC disc & HTC instructions, batterys and all other accessories INCLUDING THE BOX lol are all origional HTC products, apart from the phone its self! .. the phones a cheap ripoff - in a HTC box. go figure..
Still wondering if it needs a digitizer or the rom flashed..
I've also recently received a 3238 model which i believe to be cloned. It's in Chinese and i want to flash it to English but am unable to perform a HardSpl. If i hold down volume and press the on button i just get a screen that says ''USB update mode'' nothing happens if i try to run v4.1. If i try to run a new ROM i get error [206] unable to connect. Anyone have any ideas on how to get an English ROM onto it? Any advice would be much appreciated!
thers a seller on ebay that has the english rom for them, but he wont share
otherwise i dunno, HTC need to sue them
he did tell me its "over 60mb" .. i couldnt find it, getting really sick of the site of chinese to english translations! lol..
.. im going to buy a case of bourbon - stuff this phone, I hate it
.. LOL !!
IT WASNT MENT TO BE THIS WAY

So! There is the fact! He did not give you what you have bought! He did not fullfil the contract! Give him a deadline to send you a proper HTC Touch 3G, afterwards cancel the contract, get the money back and get a proper one by amazon or some other good store.
Next time when buying a clone, do it directly here http://www.china-phone.org/ or check here for nice clones http://www.clonedinchina.com/.
Loool! I think the fake HTC 3G has an even more powerful CPU then the real one !?
Can that be?
624MHz vs. 528 MHz - I'm not too familiar with cell phone CPUs but 96 more
fake real
I'm glad I read this thread. I'm looking for a Jade, saw a T3232 that was a good price on ebay, then spotted it had dual sim
HI 79, there is no contract I bought it outright, a damaged claim is in progress so effectively this phone wont cost me anything , hopefully Now i just have to save the phone from the bin !!!
DUAL SIM ? .. This clone does nOt have dual sim, its exactly the same layout as a HTC 3G .. very hard to pick from a HTC inless you have seen a HTC before, you wouldnt really spot the difference..
I think mine may have a faulty digitizer, Not the Rom.. Whos with me on that ?.. As the digitizers not to expensive and the jobs not that hard, im thinking of giving it a go, could be easier than trying to find the rom ?..
U guys/gals think its worth a try or should I wait until the roms up and try that first ?

I cant even get to that screen with that method so im wondering if either your clones different to mine, OR maybe yours is a proper one ?.
Does it have HTY in small letters on the inside of the the back cover by any chance ?
It doesn't say HTY anywhere on the phone but if i run my finger over the HTC part of the lettering on the battery it is slightly raised, seems they've craftily painted over the original lettering. I've compared the phone to a real one and it is slightly bigger in size. The phone actually works really well, don't have any issues with it, just want to get it into English!!
I just went on ebay to check the prices on the Jade. The ones that are $200 are obviously clones. The real ones are atleast 350+. I was able to get mine for 320 with the 8% from live checkout
Got a HTC P3450 that won't respond to anything. Plug in USB, nothing. Plug in charger, nothing. Hard reset, nothing.
Throw in the bin or is resurrection possible?
Can you try to press the power + camera button together?
Do you see a bootloader screen.
If the phone still wont start , it maybe one of these issues.
- Battery totally dead
- Motherboard Issue (Which you are screwed)
- Power button issue.
Ok I tried the power + camera button together and nothing happened.
I have two batteries and neither work. I tried power + camera button together with the unit plugged into the power socket and via USB and that didn't do anything either.
So I guess it's down to a bad motherboard or a power button issue. Although if it was just a power button issue the charge light or something would come on or something yeh?
100% no power on, everything tried
I bricked my ELF01000 but Dopod 601 China by ....
shameful mistake of rebuilding the ROM without erasing the "backup" word from: -
backup_GSM.nb
backup_IPL.nb
backup_mainsplash.nb
backup_os.nb
backup_spl.nb
hence now can't even power on from
1. camera+power+reset once and hold camera+power
2. phone dial and disconnect together + reset once and hold phone dial and disconnect
3. regular reset
4. battery removed - plugged in USB
5. battery removed - plugged in adaptor from mains
6. battery inside + USB or mains
7. battery from another elf with over 70% power
8. plugged into adaptor from mains overnight 8 hours
9. all no orange light on the indicator
Even if every software code is wrong, the indicator light should be ON right???
all failed
simply won't power on,
if only can get into bootloader >>...........
Ohmy, thats bad.
Could it be like a bad motherboard or connector issue?
actually it's not my own ELF, sorry!!! misinformed you all.
It's my friend's Dopod S1.
I've surrendered my ELF HK english WWE to him as a replacement.
Currently using Asus P552w GalaxyMini2, although much faster but extremely unstable and buggy
resisting to buy a blackstone , may be will try the rumoured release of LEO ????
Anyway, still hope someone can provide some light to this "can't power on at all issue".

If you are using a genuine htc elf.
You can try the gold card and unbricking methods at the htc upgrading forum.

Get an android phone, under htc, heard that it was better.
Hi Jeremy (nice to have someone to chat with, thanks)
I believe my friend's ELF is a genuine unit, it had pof's SPL 1.11. And a Chinese guy cooked his own rom and named it Guilin2008.02.22. Plus I could dump everything using the "automated backup.bat". Device ID by dsixda also read well.
The problem now is it could not even turn on to white screen or bootloader. I though at least it must have some power response, or else gold card unbricker won't start right?
So you recommend the "android" ..... I haven't study it at all..... though keep to WM, easy WMDC with outlook each..... plus I'm itching to get a bigger screen type, like blackstone, but ouch it's not only big, but expensive too.
Say, ELF's 200Mhz sometimes feel faster than Niki's 400Mhz (my director's unit), and also faster than Blackstone's 528Mhz (my CEO's unit). I think blackstone uses too many 3D ...... if I ever get one, must replace the rom with light versions...
Anyway, learning to cook my own now, only managed to dump, but still don't understand enough to cook.... well keep reading
Hello CX5,
Thanks alot for dropping by XDA, without you, there wont be me, either.
Yeah, I feel that those devices with more processing power, HTC would usually like to cramp lots of useless animations to the device, thus taking up more space and more power and make the phone slower, so you will buy a new set soon.
Talking about your elf, I cant really help, you may have to drop by your closest service centre for a checkup. I am only more technically inclined to software issues, so hopefully, someone with technical knowledge is able to help you with this.
Android is really a good OS, I managed to install it on my ELF recently, just to give a spin on how it works. Its great, good to use and most importantly, open source.
I seen the newspaper recently, and have you heard about that famous MP3 player brand called Creative, those people originated from my hometown, Singapore. They recently lauched a new phone which comes with their own OS or Google Android, and it cost around $120 USD for Telecoms to buy and rebrand themselves.
I clearly see Android being the next OS, and on top of that, Microsoft's Office is teaming up with Nokia, to install Microsoft Office Mobile onto Nokia Symbian phones.
With that,
I wish you all the best for your phone ( A New one, probably )
Jeremy
Thanks again Jeremy
yeah, my friend's send the wrongly_flash ELF to a hwardware repair, let you know outcome later.
say, just realized Iolite is 528Mhz, I'm able to get it at RMB 1.8k ~ USD225, was my favorite choice before laying eyes on Blackstone.
hmmmmmm. android good on ELF eh............
ok, study study study...................
Hahaha, you are from China?
I have so many China friends at my country in Singapore.
They do so well in maths and chinese, good talent!

To be frank with you, just choose a phone you like, and suit your budget and get it. Its too hard catching what is new as there is something new everyday.
Even for myself, im studying too. So ya, money is quite hard to come sometimes.
Iolite sound great, Blackstone is better.
Blackstone has so many apps available, and they have more support in their community there.
Have you checked out the android phones, htc magic and htc dream?
They are quite cool.
Best Of Luck in Studies,
Jeremy
Hi again
Actually I'm Malaysian, working in HK, often visit to factory in China, while my main customers in Taiwan, finally with little visit to customers in Japan.
Anyway, I still like the Iolite design, but screen is not big enough , while blackstones screen is big and nice, but complaining it can't fit into pocket comfortable. Anyway......
I haven't got a chance to study the android, magic or dream. Too busy working. But will someday.
Yes, best of luck to studies.
Oh, all the best for your dream phone!
