Gday all.. Think I have received a clone of a HTC T3232 from ebay, its even in HTC covers, how bad's that! (dispute in progress).
It does not respond to the HTC reset method (volume down & enter while switched off, and the small reset button at same time) so I can only presume its a clone.
Anyway the main problem is screen calibration, its out by miles, I cant even use the slide bar down the right hand side of screen.. I have done the calibration about 20 times via display settings and it does not help, the best reset I can do is via the clear memory tab in settings, that didnt fix it either.. Im not sure what its issue is, cant even figure out what sort of phone these "ripoff merchants" have sent me..
Any help would be much appreciated & thanks for reading my post

I think (and I could be wrong) that its volume down and enter then the power button for the touch 3g.
yes I tried that to, doesnt seem to work.. this is why im wondering if this thing is a HTY or something similar to a HTC, in HTC covers.. quite a letdown ..
the digitizer is miles out of wack .. is there a chance this is a rom issue or would the touch pad its self be shot ?
I've read somewhere about a clone having a different brand processor, check your system information:
start -> settings -> hardware
The real thing has the qualcomm 7225
Try to download an official rom update from the htc website. You will have to enter the serial-number of your device. If they deliver the download to your pc, you can be pretty sure it is not a fake one...
Is it not vol+ vol- and the power button all at the same time for hard reset?
Ok thanks guys, getting somewhere but its not all good, it has a Marvell pxa300 624MHZ CPU
one of the first things I tried a few days ago was updates from the HTC site, and it did NOT accept my serial number, so I think its a clone for sure. so my question is, will origional HTC software work on this clone if I download it from this site, OR will it not work because of the different processor ?
Should I even bother flashing the ROM as the opsys seems to be working fine, just the digitizer is out by miles, I ran DigItest last night and the screen was not always responding in the correct spot, correct maybe 50% of the time and the other 50% of the time it was miles out. almost NOnresponsive around the edges of the digitizer.
The seller I got it from also sells digitizers for this model lol.. I have to wonder if he didnt try to repair this phone from new, maybe a factory second or something ..
So guys whatya think?, flash rom, or grab a new digitizer from the 3bay ?
You got a clone for sure. But if you have buy it for less money i think its obvious its a clone. I got a clone too but i'm very happy with mine. No hardware issues for now, only some hard resets. I think you cant put a original ROM on a clone or can you? Btw in the phone info if for the model you got T3238 then you can be 101% sure its a clone
P.S. Btw the clone dont have build in GPS.
ok, yeah its t3238.. im prety sure it has inbuilt gps, they a$$ured me it did, but anthings possible im yet to test it coz the digitizer screens annoying me to much, dont want to even attempt to try and use it until I fix it.
Dont think the HTC rom works but im not 100% sure, im not used to these phones & there ways yet, still pretty much learning !
well, did you buy a clone or did you buy the real tough 3g? what did the presentation look like? i mean if the presentation lied to you, you did not pay money for the clone but for the real thing. then you might be able to redo the contract with the seller... maybe... good luck!
found the clone!
http://www.cectunlocked.com/OEM-HTC-Touch-3238-3232-Quad-Band-Phone-with-Windows-Mobile-6.1-WiFi-GPS.html
well...
ahh its a spitting image of a HTC, its in HTC covers, with HTC written all over it, apart from one spot I found inside the rear cover its clearly marked HTY.
The seller I used on 3bay told me it was a HTC not a clone, his discription was very deceiving. The phone turned up in a HTC box, with a HTC disc & HTC instructions, batterys and all other accessories INCLUDING THE BOX lol are all origional HTC products, apart from the phone its self! .. the phones a cheap ripoff - in a HTC box. go figure..
Still wondering if it needs a digitizer or the rom flashed..
I've also recently received a 3238 model which i believe to be cloned. It's in Chinese and i want to flash it to English but am unable to perform a HardSpl. If i hold down volume and press the on button i just get a screen that says ''USB update mode'' nothing happens if i try to run v4.1. If i try to run a new ROM i get error [206] unable to connect. Anyone have any ideas on how to get an English ROM onto it? Any advice would be much appreciated!
thers a seller on ebay that has the english rom for them, but he wont share
otherwise i dunno, HTC need to sue them
he did tell me its "over 60mb" .. i couldnt find it, getting really sick of the site of chinese to english translations! lol..
.. im going to buy a case of bourbon - stuff this phone, I hate it
.. LOL !!
IT WASNT MENT TO BE THIS WAY

So! There is the fact! He did not give you what you have bought! He did not fullfil the contract! Give him a deadline to send you a proper HTC Touch 3G, afterwards cancel the contract, get the money back and get a proper one by amazon or some other good store.
Next time when buying a clone, do it directly here http://www.china-phone.org/ or check here for nice clones http://www.clonedinchina.com/.
Loool! I think the fake HTC 3G has an even more powerful CPU then the real one !?
Can that be?
624MHz vs. 528 MHz - I'm not too familiar with cell phone CPUs but 96 more
fake real
I'm glad I read this thread. I'm looking for a Jade, saw a T3232 that was a good price on ebay, then spotted it had dual sim
HI 79, there is no contract I bought it outright, a damaged claim is in progress so effectively this phone wont cost me anything , hopefully Now i just have to save the phone from the bin !!!
DUAL SIM ? .. This clone does nOt have dual sim, its exactly the same layout as a HTC 3G .. very hard to pick from a HTC inless you have seen a HTC before, you wouldnt really spot the difference..
I think mine may have a faulty digitizer, Not the Rom.. Whos with me on that ?.. As the digitizers not to expensive and the jobs not that hard, im thinking of giving it a go, could be easier than trying to find the rom ?..
U guys/gals think its worth a try or should I wait until the roms up and try that first ?

I cant even get to that screen with that method so im wondering if either your clones different to mine, OR maybe yours is a proper one ?.
Does it have HTY in small letters on the inside of the the back cover by any chance ?
It doesn't say HTY anywhere on the phone but if i run my finger over the HTC part of the lettering on the battery it is slightly raised, seems they've craftily painted over the original lettering. I've compared the phone to a real one and it is slightly bigger in size. The phone actually works really well, don't have any issues with it, just want to get it into English!!
I just went on ebay to check the prices on the Jade. The ones that are $200 are obviously clones. The real ones are atleast 350+. I was able to get mine for 320 with the 8% from live checkout

Hi everyone.
This is my first time in xda and i am here posting because i have a problem with my htc elfin.
I bought the phone from e-bay. The seller told me it was unlocked but in fact it wasnt. It was on Orange and i had to unlock it using a program i bought on ebay (latter i saw it for free online ). The program was designed for htc elf but i was told it would work. Well, in fact it did, but i have a problem... The phone easilly loses network and even when it was network it wont make or receive calls... Texting works ok... I really dont know what to do... Can anyone help me??
Best regards
Hi,
Well, I hate to break the news to you, but it does kind of sound like the phone may be broken... two things you could try anyways:
a) Perform a hard-reset: Switch off your phone, keep both phone buttons pressed (green&red) and switch it on. The out-of-box state will be restored and all your data will be erased (!). So backup your contacts before doing this.
If this does not work, then it is highly likely that your phone has some sort of hardware-issue. But you may still want to try
b) Upgrade the firmware of your phone (including the radio part!). Just look around in this forum, there's basically everything you need. Always pay close attention to the how-to-guides & make sure you proceed exactly as decribed there.
Good luck,
murosama
Hi
I tryed what you said. Hard reset made nothing but updating rom did... I his working better but not perfect... Maybe some antena problem dont you think?
OK, here what's the deal: a few days ago I cracked the screen, so I bought a new one and replaced it. BUT, now the phone does not recognize it and the screen doesn't turn on at all. The phone boots and it's working fine, I can recieve calls normaly, but the screen is dead. ALSO, the volume keys stoped functioning...
Any ideas please? I'm getting kinda desperate here...
Tnx
You probably messed up somwhere in your wiring. Open it back up and make sure everything is intact. Check out some guides online to make sure everything is in the proper place.
Allready done that, everything is in place...I do have a cooked ROM thought I can't remember which since my screen is not working, obiveously...Could it be tha I nedd to switch back an original ROM for it to be able to recognize the new hardware??? And is there an app that would allow me to monitor phones activity over PC???
No, A cooked rom wont affect a screen replacement in anyway.
I repaired mine while KWBR's Topix 6.5 was on the handset, infact Ive never had this handset on a stock rom, so it wont make a difference or help you.
Did you buy your Screen and Digitizer factory pre-assembled, the small price difference compared to buying the part standalone is worth every cent in preventing these sorts of after repair problems.
Hi,
I have recently purchased my HD2 and its been a couple of months now since I'm utilizing it. Barely exploring my phone features, it hangs 20 times in view of the following encountered predicaments :-
1) Receiving 2 simultaneous SMS
2) Receiving an MMS
3) Pressing on any of the keys on the phone whenever receiving an SMS
Well, the list goes on and on. So, in resolving this issue, SIS (Malaysia) had agreed to change a new phone for me. And so they did. Tested it on the spot and everything was working fine, but just after a few days later, the problem reoccur itself again. This time, the entire phone hangs up. No keys can be activated, neither the phone can be turned on.
Firstly, its a brand new phone, so this kinda problem should not arise. Secondly, its no doubt troublesome to flip the back cover and press the tiny red button to perform a soft reset. Why in the darn first place the soft reset button isn't placed outside ? (just liky my old TYTN II)
So I have read a couple of forums with regards to this matter and came upon two conclusions in the end. One, the Manila.exe is the main culprit towards the hanging of the device and two, the HTC Sense application program has a flaw in between. Well, there's a temporary workaround though (that is if you do not want to flip the back cover over and over again), which is to leave the phone idle for 48 hours, let the battery drain itself off and then recharge back the phone again.
48 hours is a long time to wait though, and as a professional worker in my line of work, I really do not have that much of an ample time to linger around waiting for it to run out of juice. I'm totally very much dissapointed with the purchasement of the HTC HD2 as not only the technicians at the SIS (Malaysia) could not get to reproduce my predicaments, they cant even get to solve the hanging issue which I'd reckon, that's what I've been spending most of my time on my new phone (rather than to explore what is has to offer)
Is there a work around to the HTC Sense / Manila.exe problem ? Other suggestions would be to turn off the HTC Sense, but you know what ? Turning off the HTC Sense will be something like buying an Aston and driving it at 40kpmh all the way till the south of France !!! The phone's interface will be dull, and not to mentioned, it will be more a less pictured like my old TYTN II
I do not really have such problems for the HTC TYTN II though, not even one hang moment. Please XDA developers / experts, I'm indeed begging for a solution in resolving this reoccuring problem that somehow not only it will tarnish the brand HTC, it will also loose faith of the end consumers in the market.
why don't you ask SIS to change the phone again?
Just want to say one thing ... "Stock ROM's Suck" , hate to be that blunt but the stock ROMs they put on this beautiful hardware just seem to be time bombs, waiting to explode when you get them home ...
Should flash that sucker!!
To dan138zig
Well, that was my last resort to them, in order to solve it once and for all. I've been travelling to SIS to and fro for 4 times and yet the problem is still left unresolved. They've even tested it in their environment and it works fine (for the 1st two visits). But somehow, they manage to simulate the issue and they replaced the chipboard.
Now, replacing the chipboard was to the previous original phone, though even after the replacement, it still didnt solve the problem. So ding dong here and there, and after several "consultations" with their higher level managment, they agreed to change a new phone for me, off the hook (not undergoing formal procedures, whereby I'll have to wait for another two weeks)
So, getting a brand new phone I'd reckon my miseries will be resolved, but then the hanging problem reoccur itself today again. It seems that the HTC Sense is the main culprit though, after reading a few forums off the Net. And for a "premanent" solution (that is if HTC does not come out with any ROM / fixes / enchancements), I've gotta turn off the HTC Sense feature.
Well, buying a phone that cost 2K plus had already put a large damage in my wallet, now having to face this consequences after the purchasement is a real icing on the cake. What do you think ? If you're in my shoes, what would you do ?

I totally couldnt agree with you more. In my view, they should just have throw the Win OS away and put in the Andriod version of it. Its always windows version mobile phones that are giving the most headache to me when it comes to utilizing it.

Have you tried getting a new SIM? Sounds like the problem only happens when its talking to the network, and as you've had 2 handsets, i'd give a SIM change a go.
On the plus side........... at least you get 48hrs battery life.......
Not much use though if your phone doesnt work I suppose.....

Well, my SIM's working perfectly fine though, it does not give me any form of problem with my old TYTN II neither with other HTC devices I've checked with a few friends of mine. I do really suspect its the Sense that's the real culprit in the hanging of the device. Just really hope that they clear up this predicament with a new release of the ROM

haha, forty eight hours of baterry life ? well, I wouldn't bet on it. Have tried using it extensively and even before it reaches sunset, the battery is out. And guess what ? It's a brand new battery.
The phone's terrific, but sadly, the battery isnt. Its just like you are viewing a beautiful girl from bottom up till the next and the next thing you know it, viewing her face just makes you wanna vomit over and over again
So that's how I could sum up the HD2 as a whole. Most comparison commentators out there did place the HD2 side by side with the IPhone 3Gs. Both eventually also will end up running out of juice in 48 hours when you're performing your day to day call basis

The HTC Support and Releases still does not solve the problem, mate. Its something that HTC R&D as well as the QA team needs to sit down and extensively test the entire device from bottoms up till all forms of problem is resolved thereafter.

Hi, what are the symptoms of software bricked HD2?
I have HTC HD2 but not sure whats wrong with it, no power what so ever, no leds etc however the battery does charge. (Strange I know)
I got the phone like this so not sure how it happened
Thanks
Maybe the display have a problem not lighting up or something!
To tell you the truth; HTC HD2 is a bit difficult to software brick it imo! Take it back from where you bought it and change it!
The screen is fine, it doesnt connect to the pc or anything.
It might have been bricked by flashing TMOUS radio, just wanna know what the symptons are if that happens. If there the same symptoms as mine Ill send it off to get JTAG'd
I bought it faulty.

That sounds like a bricked HD2() like in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068989.
Thanks for the link, could be a software or hardware fault. I'll try and get a phone shop to look it.
When you say "the screen is fine".... how do you know if its not displaying anything. Could be an LCD fault, how do you know the battery is charging...??
Im a bit confused by this one.
Apologies if I've missed something obvious, somewhat drunk.
As your on O2 im gonna assume your in the UK and its an EU HD2 (T8585).
If so, it cannot be bricked by flashing a tmous radio.......
I know its charging because the battery warms up and I checked in my other HD2 lol.
Its not an LCD fault as it doesnt even connect to the PC etc. Its just dead apart from that it charges the battery.
You wanted the symtoms of a hardware or hard bricked HD2. Well they are as follows.
1. The HD2 will vibrate and the hardware buttons will light up but it will not display anything but a black screen, not the first splash screen.
2. You can not boot into bootloader by holding the volume down button down while powering on the HD2.
3. On some hard bricked HD2s they will still apear to charge but it is not really charging the battery properly because the charging software is not working properly, thos is why your battery gets hot.
4. The HD2 is not recognized by the computer at all or only as Qualcomm something.
These are the symtoms I know for a hard bricked HD2.
Yours sounds like a case of a hard bricked HD2. In case the shop that you carry your HD2 to does not offer a JTAH service for the HD2 I can put you in contact with someone that can JTAG your HD2.
Thanks for that, How much does the person you know charge? I can get it Jtag'd for around £40
Sorry it tooke a little while to get back to you but the person I know charges $50 USD plus you pay whatever shipping and handling it is to ship the HD2 to him. But he lives in the US so you might be better of if you can get it done localy. But the guy I know is very good.
Ok thanks for that, Ill let you know if I cant get it done locally.
Hello,
I am new on this forum (speaking of posting) i've been reading alot on this forum.
unfortunately, not enough..
Yesterday i got a htc hd2 from my dad because he couldn't work with it.
the only problem was that if he was calling the other person heard him like being in a bathroom or so,
I tought maybe it was because of the software ( i have put android on it about 2-3 month's ago maybe a bad version)
So i decided to put another version on it..
Well everything worked fine for me , set everything up but internet wouldn't open,
So i decided to reboot the phone, but that's where it went wrong, the whole phone died , not responding on powerbutton or anything else,
So as far as i know it's bricked.
the only wat to unbrick it (i know) is by using a jtag riff box, i don't know anyone in my country (the netherlands) who have it.
Now i don't know what to do.
sell the phone as broken for parts like display etc.
of shall i buy a box myself (107 euro without connector)
What are the points of concidering besides of the money,
is it enough to buy the box + connector and then download the software, or do i need to buy licenses too?
if not it's very attracting, an maybe i can even help other people who have bricked his/hers phone
If anybody have a trustable site for me to buy one in europe also please let me know.

No, unfortunatly even that is not working,
The whole phone is not responding on anything.
i can push my powerbutton, but even no light goes on , and nothing appears on the display.
That's why i guess it's bricked (also because i am using a t-mobile sim even it is a HD2 which is sold by a hi (kpn nl) provider)
Nobody has an idea what's best to do? or does know someone in the netherlands with a box?
It would be easier to help you if you would have said what you've done to the phone.
I find it very hard to brick this phone if HSPL was on it, as there is nothing the Malgdr or CWM can do to ruin it (to my knowledge).
Try these two things:
1) Is the battery charged - sometimes that might be the problem
2) Connect the phone to your PC, and see if it recognizes it.
Let us know how it went.

Sorry, don't have a box.
But, Check the battery pins, commonly, one of these are bent, and that's why it won't boot-up.
Does it use Magldr? or cLK? (Eg, when you booted, did you see a black screen with white text, and gogogo as the last line?(magldr) or did it just boot as android(cLK).
If cLK, put your phone in charger and see if the red light turns on.
Hope this helps a bit,
Eelke
I had mine jtag here in teh US I am not sure the cost involved but he can fix it for you if you care to have it shipped here. The person that did it is a member of xda and gave me fantastic service I can send you his website if that interests you. Just PM me if you wish.
Good Luck
Riff?
Never heard of one. Will a repair shop not have one?
Check the battery compartment and see if any pins connecting the battery to the phone are bent in a wrong direction. If so, correct this, put battery back in, connect phone to charger / USB and try turning it on.
Okay, back since a while.
Last week i found my HD2 again, (still not working.. )
So i thought about going to fix it.
I found out it isn't the battery though.. i tried another one in my phone, still dead,
My battery in another phone.. and that works.
So now i want to buy an riff box for sure, i fond some at the internet but i don't know if i can trust those sites...
First one is : http://gsmserver.com/shop/gsm/riff_box_jtag.php
Second one is: http://www.multi-com.pl/
third one is:http://www.ipmart.com/main/
Has anyone of yours some experience with one of these three shops?
1st one would be my first choice because they have all i want to order,
2nd one is the most expensive,
3th, miss something i want, but i can make it on by my own.
So can you please help me figure this out?
Best recommendation from me and your hd2, if you want to learn, is http://www.segger.com/j-link-edu.html (it no need credits, +++ another $, it's tootaly open for all you want with your phone) + great revskills software !!! I am happy user with all that!!! It's not automated process like in riff box but after working with it it's very great and easy!
