Since installing the latest O2 ROM upgrade I found two problems:
1. Alarms and timers (chronos, spb time) don't wake up the machine. I need this feature and this a major problem for me, surely must be also an issue for others.
2. I don't want the battery icon on the top bar, I want just the clock.
Does anyone knows a trick to change for the better any of those, please?
Thanks, Gonz
1) u can install 3rd party Alarm Softwares.
2) search the forum, there is a solution

Really?
Care to post a link? Everything I've read says there is no solution yet.
Look in your startup folder, there is a file that activates the battery icon (I can't rremember what it is called and I don't have it anymore, but I seem to remember it's obvious when you see it).
Delete it (or copy to another safe location) and your battery icon will no longer appear.
OK, it seems my problems are not so simple to solve, after all.
These are the files in my startup folder:
sddaemon, services, theme refresh and voice command.
Could you tell me which one to delete to get rid of the battery icon please?
Uhm…, and what about the problem of timers and alarms failing to wake up the device? Do we have to use the dull Microsoft application?
Thanks

hdubli,
I do have lots of third party software for this purpose and they all fail with the exec wm5, something that did not happen on my xda 2i with any of them.
If you please care to be more explicit with the solutions, I am sure several here would appreciate it.
Thanks, gonz

For your alarm problem, check out pTravelAlarm
http://www.burroak.on.ca/wm2005.html
You are looking for version 2.6.0, which is for WM5 - their site claims that it's a trial version, but I've found it to be faultless, even after applying latest O2 ROM.
It's not free and I can't promise it'll work for you, but it's worth a shot.
If I can't leave my Exec plugged into mains overnight, I disable the "Turn device off after..." in Power Settings and it hasn't failed to wake me up yet.
Its volume control isn't linked to your device's, and it's loud enough to put the fear of God in you...[/code]
I am having a similar problem. What you guys dont seem to understand, is, even if there was a $1000 3rd party alarm software, it will be of no use when the phone refuses to wake up.
The problem we have is not of the alarm software, but the simple problem of the phone not waking up, e.g. from standby to ON.
Can someone shed some light on this issue.
Thank You
This forum has not resolved the issue of the battery, hunders if not thousands of people are awaiting some miraculous fix for this. the only thing I know to work is using wizbar to reskin the title bar.
in relation to alarms, sorry, i know the wm5 is a problem. though, the inbuilt alarms that i have used on the device do wake the device up.
the other thing you can try is, dont turn it off, dont allow the system to turn it off after a period of time, and just close the device without turning off.
it will drain a little bit more power, i think approximately 15% over the night than what it would otherwise draing, but if it is plugged in, then it wont drain at all and will ensure the device wakes up.
thanks, it is probably rom related since u report that your device does wake up. Can you tell me what rom version u are using? Thanks

Many thanks, I did try not to switch it off and it works!, even the timers!
my rom is in my signature, unlike yours.
what i was saying was it wakes it up from its sleep, but not its off state.
just closing the clam was sufficient to preserve battery, especially given that at night its always charged. even during the day, i rarely turn it off. i just close the device and let it rest....
Why is the "turn off device if not used for" alway
Does anybody know how to prevent the system from ticking this box every time?
My machine does it on its own, yes, it does, sometimes even after changing from landscaping view to normal.
So, the advice of not turning it off to make the alarms work is OK, but needs constant rechecking that the box remains unticked!!
Thanks,

I would look at your other software that may be enforcing this as it has never happened to me, nor have I read about it.

If you mean Windows\Startup, I have sddaemon, O2 UI Refresh and poutlook.
I have moved them all out (startup folder is empty) and still no luck.

My suggestion unrelated to your problem is to keep "sddaemon.lnk" out of the "start up" folder. If you haven't noticed yet, if you keep sddaemon on the start up folder, after performing a soft reset this file is duplicated under "Notifications" taking up your precious memory and slowing down your machine. You can check it if you have a program that cleans your Notification Que such as "Scary Bear's Check Notification" (freeware).
For the alarm one, does anyone tried using PocketWakeup? The original one is in French, but there is an English version too. Google for it and see if it works on the universal.

Can't think of anything in my PDA that will have that need or ability, it is not an option I've noticed in any program before, but thanks anyway. I'll search around, there must be a solution somewhere

you could try reflashing your rom as you are on the older version.

I got the latest, just haven't updated my profile. I found it! It was Phone Alarm, changed to PocketZen and everything is finally OK
I have searched and can't find this issue anywhere, so I will post it too you here.
I have attempted to use every tweak under the sun (like a kid in a candy store).
I have everything pretty much the way I like it, but I have one nagging issue. When I resume or reboot I get the following message;
Notification Error
Cannot execute \Windows\StartUp\OmapClock.lnk
I have searched thru the \Windows\Startup and cant find what is calling this lnk.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Do you have OmapClock installed?
OmapClock is causing the error, so unless you can find a solution from the OmapClock people, you might want to remove it from your phone.
I am using BatteryStatus. I uninstalled and removed OmapClock. Error message stayed.
Could this be a run statment in the registry?
You will need to reboot twice to check whether the error is gone.
I removed BatteryStatus, searched for OmapClock (not found) moved all of the .lnk's out of the StartUp, then reset three times. The message still pops up.
It happen on reboot, or resume. Is this an errant run statement somewhere? If so, where would it be?
hey... what u need is the omap clock remover available here http://www.nicque.com/PQz/ which will help u get rid of omapclock from the notification queue... it can remove other notification queueerrors as well...

That did it! Thabks much you are a "sanity saver".
It was the first time I have set my alarm to wake me up on my 8525. Needless to say I could not get the alarm to turn off. I have tried soft reseting and everything. Now when the phone restarts the red indicator light flashes and even without any alarms checked, the unit continuously plays the alarm over and over again with about a 15 second delay.
Has anyone seen this before? It is driving me insane!
I have the at&t rom and it has worked fine for over a month now..
What could it be?
Its a bug. I had the same issue on a previous AKU 3.x rom.
The only way I got rid of it was reinstalling my Rom...
I had it with a TyTN with factory supplied ROM (AKU 2.x). There was no dismiss soft-button, nor the menu to do anything; reset didn't help either. At the time, I just turned off the sound for notifications and hardresetted the phone in the evening.

Well, yes there are some known issues with the alarm. It may however not be necessary to go to the lengths of changing the ROM and doing a hard reset.
One of the most common issues is that the alarm notification store becomes cluttered up with duplicates and junk. (And this can happen regardless of whether you use the alarm much or not!!).
The standard way to clear the notifications queue is to use a third party tool and there are several but the best known are:
SKtools (Not Freeware)
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14288
Memmaid (Not Freeware)
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=14279
Scarybear (Freeware)
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/notificationclearfix.shtml
Use any of these to clear your notifications cue. I personally like sktools as it has a host of other facilities well worth having - but the others are good too.

Is the behaviour of absent dismiss and menu buttons (the soft buttons) also the result of a messed up notifications queue?
I did have issues once where alarms went of twice at the same time, etc.; but at least I could turn them off when this occured.

Good question - and I do not know the answer for sure. The first two posters above do not say whether they get the dismiss option at all or whether they get the dismiss option but it just does not cancel the alarm.
That was the reason for my "caution" in replying and saying they "may" not need to change ROM or Hard reset.

Wow!
I just used scarybear and I had 899 items that were sitting there! That could slow down the old 8525 huh??? That seems like quiite the large oversight on the part of HTC does it not?

Wow! indeed.
Question is will it now work correctly?
I wouldn't blame HTC for this one though, it's a M$ problem.
Hope it works, if not it's a hard reset next step. Mine had this problem but ok now after clear out. You may find you've claered out some notifications you do want. That's ok though you can reset them. Also if you ever restore from a backup you may need to re-clear the duplicate notifications.

great thread!
Had the same problem in my Wizard today and solved it thanks to this thread.
I used taskman 2.7 in Faria's WM6 ROM.

Scary Bear download link no longer works.
Any other free alternatives?
Thanks!
In the last couple of days, when I've had an alarm go off the sound has triggered, but there's been no onscreen notification, so I've not been able to dismiss it. It's turned on under sounds/notifications under "reminders".
This is really bugging me: in recent days I've installed batterytray and Calendar+ but no real reason to think it's related.
Anyone got a suggestion for what to check?
Ric

Hi,
Everytime I turn off this computer in 5pm, and open it in 8am it's changing the Language. please see attached picture.
please help.
Out of curiosity, is there some particular reason to restart the computer? Sleep uses basically no power and resumes far faster. If you leave the computer in sleep mode, does this happen? What about hibernate, if the machine supports it?
Please check with the Startup tab on Task Manager. If you have unwanted programs starting up automatically, uncheck them and restart.
Anyway, do you have to manually reset the language settings on control panel every morning?

this computer is for office, so if we go home, I need to shut down this computer,
and when I open it the next day its always changing the language.
and I always need to use the 'auto system backup/restore', and same the next day,
it's about 2weeks.

yes, I used the 'automatic system backup' and its 3/25/14 (attached)
Can you try disabling all the startup programs above and restart? I'm not sure it will help but if one startup program is not in English, maybe it's causing the system to change the language...
You can always revert back to your current startup settings by re-enabling the programs as on your screenshot.
Also, did you check your language settings on Control Panel?

yes, and its by default. pictures attached
PS -
If I restart or shutdown my computer right now, It didn't change the language.
I think it's changing the next day.
No, it will just disable the auto-start of programs you unchecked. You can always enable it back anyway
Now I realize it may be a group policy because the language always changes on the morning. Is your company using it?

Btw, is one of your programs using a non-English language for its interface?
Also, is it the first time you get the problem? Did it happen suddenly or after installing something?

yes this is the first time, but I think it's happening about 2weeks changing language everyday, no nothing happen,
and before I start my work in the morning,
I need to System restoreback to 3/25/14
all apps/programs that I installed recently will be deleted in that date.
Well, I think you already know this solution : if you want the easy way, just reinstall Windows
It can be a pain if you have lots of programs to reinstall and a slow HDD but it always works!

Yeah you got it, but I don't see anything wrong.
I don't know what the first 2 tasks do, but they were not ran today so disabling them won't hurt more.
Then the last one runs everyday but not at 8 am, I wonder what it is. Can you select it and post another screenshot?
