Hey all,
I have been running the underground crossbow rom for a week or so, and I must say that I like it a LOT. For those that have a Cingular 8125, I would greatly recommend this rom.
I have noticed a couple quirks, and wondered if anyone has experienced them as well. First of all, OMAPClock isn't retaining its setting. I check it every once in a while to make sure it's still running at 252, and it's back at 180. I verified this speed in TCPMP. I decided to try the OMAPClockPlus helper, and when I registered it as a notification, it seemed to be fine until I did a reset, in which it wasn't registered anymore. I couldn't even find the notification it was supposed to create. So that did absolutely nothing for me.
Next I tried manually making a notification in memmaid that pointed to the /windows/startup/omapclock.lnk that I made that has the -clock 252 parameter after it. Even though this is set to run at wakeup and still appears in my notification queue, I check it and often it's back to 180. Any ideas?? Do I have a bum version of OMAPClock? It's the one that came with the rom. Oh, forgot to mention. I commented out the line in the smartskey ini that calls omapclock since I made a notification. It works fine for a while after resetting, I assume until it goes asleep. This tells me that the notification works as it is set to 252 when I reset, but that something is failing later. Maybe some of you that know more about omapclock and how it works can shed some light.
My next issue is with Windows Mobile Device Center (ActiveSync Replacement in Vista) and bluetooth. Has anyone successfully set this up in Windows Vista? I don't like WMDC, activesync was easier to set up. basically with wmdc you can't choose which BT port to allow, you can only choose "use bluetooth." This being said I can never get "ActiveSync" to show up as a service when pairing my phone. I tried installing AS 4.5 beta and WMDC wouldn't allow me to even install it. I'd like to get it working with BT, so if anyone has a success story, would you mind sharing it?
I am hoping the omapclock issue isn't related to the rom, as I really like it so far. I used it with no problems on every other rom I've had so far. Thank you for reading this short novel, and thank you also in advance for any expertise you can share!
Sorry, I cannot help you with you Omapclock issue, but I can provide some insight to your WMDC and bluetooth issue, because I ran into the same problems.
My computer shipped with the Toshiba bluetooth stack, and that automatically installs a port for ActiveSync on Comm 7. However, after switching to the default bluetooth stack in Vista, I was able to add an Incomming Port (ended up being Comm 4), and then ActiveSync showed up as a service on my fone. I have read places that people cannot get WMDC and Bluetooth to work if they are running the Widcomm stack, and I can personally say it was impossible with the Toshiba Stack. I guess because the built-in bluetooth stack is Windows made, WMDC knows where to look to get the incomming port, becuase as you stated, you cannot specifiy it. My advise, therefore, would be to use the default windows stack, and add an incomming port, which hopefully will solve your problem.
The problem with the default bluetooth stack in Vista is that it doesnt support some key profiles, A2DP being one of them. To me, bluetooth connectivity with my phone was more important than wireless headphones, so I switched to the default stack.
Let me know if this works out.

Hi,
I'm trying to use my XDA2 to provide Internet Access (GPRS) via BT to my portable PC.
I'm using my PCs built-in Bluetooth-module (running on WIDCOMM 1.4.1 Build 6)
I have no problem synchronizing my XDA2 with Outlook using BT (since this is a connection initiated by the XDA2) but if I "browse" the services on my XDA2 from my PC I only get OBEX Object Push.
I know from previous occations that you should be able to see Serial Ports etc.
My XDA2 is running on the following version:
R: 1.06.01
G: 1337.16
D: 1.60.00WWE
And Pocket Bluetooth Tools
Can anyone tell me what to look for?
Thanx in advance
Frank.
You can try using the XDA II in the wireless modem mode... See your program files for this application. Works for me.
There's your problem... You need to uninstall Pocket Bluetooth Tools; it removes your SSA service (which you need for BT Wireless Modem)
Hmm I also do use the Bluetooth Tools so I doubt you need to remove this very handy app. ?
Hi.
Well, I had to hard-reset my PDA in order to remove Pocket Bluetooth Tools (PBT), so I don't know if it was the hard-reset or PBT that did the works, but now I get the SSA profile and can connect to it without any problems.
Unfortunatly I lost the option to sync my PDA via Bluetooth, since Active Sync cant find any ports. So I'll give PBT another try, otherwise I'll just use the FIR-port to sync.
Thank you for your help. I'll let you know how things work out, when I re-install PBT.
Best regard,
Frank.
What ROM you running? With the 1.72, you have the options of enablign outgoing and incoming COM ports in the settings menu (Start --> Settings --> Bluetooth Settings)
Before installing Bluetooth Tools, I've got: Serial, SSA, Object Push, and one more.
After installing: I've only got Serial and the other one that I cannot remember.
--------------------------
For me, it was the Bluetooth Tools that was holding me back. I've emailed the author to see whether he can add the SSA port.
Update:
Well, first of all, I was thrilled to find out that I no longer have to start the Wireless Modem-app to use the GPRS-connection on my laptop. Apperantly a modem-emulator runs in the background, so my XDA2 stays fully functional while its forwarding GPRS traffic. (Though I think it's strange that theres no indication what-so-ever that the GPRS is in use - normally you get a different icon at the antenna)
Anyways, I installed the latest version af Pocket Bluetooth Tools (PBT). And the SSA-profile was still there and working. Then I paired my laptop using the ActiveSync profile in PBT - and wupti: Both the GPRS "dial-through"/SSA and ActiveSync is working - at the same time.
Now, all thats left is to pair it with my BT GPS receiver. Can't do it at moment since it's at home - I don't expect any problems with it though. Usually works without problems.
Thank you again for your input.
Frank.
hmm... that's awesome. I'll install Pocket Bluetooth again and see whether it works.
Can you answer these:
1. Which ROM you using (ie. O2 1.60)
2. Which version of Pocket Bluetooth Tools? 1.1.0.0?
Thanks... That's awesome news though. I love how it turns the Bluetooth on and off automatically.
WeatherB:
I'm using ROM 1.60.00WWE (QTek) and the latest version of PBT (1.1.0.0)
It works like a dream
I guess it's possible that Pocket Bluetooth is conflicting with 1.72
I know for a fact, that ver. 1.1.0.0 is conflicting with 1.72 - my friend tried to use this.
He then installed a previous version of PBT, but still can't see the SSA-profile, but the ActiveSync profile now works.
He will try to uninstall PBT and see if the SSA appears.
oh okay... I might have to downgrade to 1.60...
What's the main difference between 1.60 and 1.72?
WeatherB:
I just talked to my friend again. Seems I misunderstood him the first time. The reason he uses an older version of PBT is that with the new version his headset-profile is not supported.
Apparantly the biggest advantage of the 1.70 is the improved battery lifetime. He says he only charges his battery twice as often now. I'm sure there are other improvements - I just can't find 'em in the Upgrade 'n Modifying-forum right now.
I did the downgrade to 1.60 last night and I noticed something weird about PBT... After bonding with a device, you need to leave that last screen (the one that PBT created) unchecked and all will work fine.
Not sure if I tried this workaround with 1.72; but non-the-less, seems to be working. I did however lose the Audio Gateway after installing PBT. But no biggie, don't want to listen use my PDA as an audio gateway for my PC.
WeatherB:
Hmm. I checked the Active Sync-box, otherwise I couldn't connect via Active Sync over BT, since it wasn't in the menu.
But I don't remember if I paired it from the PDA or the PC. But everything works - also the GPS - so I guess it's simply a question on fidling with it.
Exactly... I'll play with it and see how to get the most out of it without messing it up.
I have recently installed a bluetooth dongle to my desktop (Smart mdular Tech USB short range wireless). Try as I might, and I've read all the entries from other users for configs, short cuts, tricks - the lot - I still cannot get bluetooth active sync to work. The only thing I haven't tried is hard reset of my xda, which I am reluctant to do for severa reasons. To add insult to injury, now my pocket outlook and pocket IE will not recognise the GPRS connection and will not download. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. Cheers. Guts

have you followe these guides ?
when you say xda you mean xda2 right ?
The blue tooth dongle and XP sp2 are working - I've downloaded the appropriate drivers. The systems are paired - and I've continually tried the procedures for activating the bt activesync - I receive the same default message from my (yes, it is an) XDA 2. I have gone back through again to double check my settings, still no luck. Guts
i had a problem like that when i installed some version of vidcomm when i removed it anything worked just fine
you have to rebound with the pc of cause
and make sure that activesync is set to use the com port that the bluetooth is set to incomming
My Jam has recently decided that I dont' have any bluetooth hardware.
I have seen people complaining about this problem after they updated Radio or ROM - but I haven't done a single thing with my JAM. What they hellis going on. This thing is total piece of garbage....
you need to soft reset it
i have the same problem plus i have no audio on my phone..you can say that again man. abviously i already made a soft reset been doin it for 2 days now! damn! :x help anyone?
This is total garbage. How can a phone just start malfunctioning like that for no reason? This is pathetic.
I have an experience as: I have installed the radio scheduler which I can set to turn BT on and off as pre-scheduled. During the time the BT is off as scheduled, I manually turn it ON then the device say: No BT Hardware. During the time BT is ON as scheduled, I turn it OFF then ON again, no any problem's arised. When I uninstall the Scheduler software, everything's OK. But because I need radio scheduler application to turn GSM/BT ON and OFF automatically as my schedule so I decide not to touch the BT Icon in the bottom tray when BT is off. Without that problem the software run perfectly.
My XDAmini's BT is perfectly paired and worked with my Jabra BT 258. For Async function with my laptop, I use BT Tool 1.0 patch.
So for your cases, I think there is some software have been installed to turn ON/OFF BT function in lower level than the Microsoft's BT stack. Then when MS's BT stack come to check the hardware has been turn OFF, it found NO BT Hardware.
Hope the explanation may help.
I've the same problem with a french ROM. There is a message that told "no bluetooth hardware on this device" but at sometimes il works for a limited time.
I've this problem only under 1.06 ROM not with 1.03.
I need help to resolve this. Soft reset and hard reset change nothing as reflashing with 1.06
Help needing :?
Normally the issue was going to be fixed
Normally the issue was going to be fixed in the 1.06 see reporting on issue
Well.... I had the same message before when I upgraded to MA_DANG_WWE_10600_115_10500_SHIP. Then after a hard reset the problem gone. But his rom is not so stable.
Now I'm using the ma_cdlsku1_10600_110_10500_ship but override with the US radio to 110. And I can say is the most stable I had try on others.
After every soft reset my BT headset will paired by it self with my XDAmini, not like the others which I need to pair on manually. But only one thing is when the BT converage is out of range it had to pair them again. Anyway this is better then nothing.
Note: the radio 110 overiding is not for BT improvement. Just that is for the radio signal upgrade.
Hope this help.
When you want to enable the bluetooth try to make it also discoverable to other devices. This will enable for sure the blue tooth and you will not get again a "No bluetooth hardware" error.
Not true. I have mine discoverable, but this problem seems to occur randomly.
what error messege do you get? i fixed mine by installing that buzztooth or switch application im not sure of the name, but just try to remember the application that you tried/installed before that enable/disables the bluetooth with a shortcut. ow yea and a little tweak on the registry fixed mine..

Explain de REGISTRY trick on the prog you install. Give us more information please
what error are you getting? i modified the registry because i had an license expired error..if thats not the error dont bother with the registry. anyway about the bluetooth device not found error i found out the SKtools application is doing it..so the easiest way would be a restore registry on the SKtools app then soft restart.
how long does it take for you guys on a HardReset to get to the startmenu?
Same problems here:
1- No BT HW found
2- BT SW detects Flight Mode on and a message pop up saying to turn off FlightM to activate BT...but FlightMode is turned off yet! than the message is in Spanish and my ROM is Italian....
Really an annoying problem!!!
I hope that HTC has been informed about this!
Today, i've got one more this error. I'll made a screen copy when it happen.
When the problem occurs, there is no possibility to select bluetooth, all is grey
How does i take a old bt manager (before upgrading it works very well)
Tx
The following should give users an idea what they are in for if they decide to take the plunge...
It happened again. Out of the blue, my XDAII froze, then turned itself off. I closed my eyes and there it was, this terrible electric 'bling bling' sound. I didn't have to open my eyes to confirm that another hardreset had just happened on my XDAII. No particular reason. As if my XDA wanted to tease me, it had just decided to clear everything in its memory, all installed programs. And now? installing everything again? when there was no insurance that it wouldn't hardreset itself again?
No, I said to myself, not this time. I opened the file explorer on my PC and did what I thought I would never do: I started the upgrade to install Magneto or better known as Windows Mobile 2005 on my XDAII.
When I downloaded the Magneto files, I thought to myself that I would just keep them for storing. You never know. One hardreset later and suddenly Magneto sounded like a godsent to me.
The upgrade went smooth, very smooth in fact. Before the upgrade I deleted the extended rom files and storage files. Maybe that helped.
All OK? Not quite. I could not connect to my PC and activesync via USB. Everything worked well via Bluetooth, but USB? No chance. I found out that it had something to do with XP and not having the servicepack 2 installed. Well, no choice. Goodbye USB sync. I could live with that since I still had bluetooth.
Once I had Magneto running, I started installing my standard programs. Most of them worked. The only one that did not was WorldMatePro. OK, I tried to live without it.
I installed most of the programs into Storage. They all worked. I even tried to install some of them into Buzz' RAM disk. A few worked as well, some couldn't be installed there. Well, I anyway planned to use the RAm disk for storage.
I was actually surprised that XCPU_Scalar worked. Well, even Magneto is now overclocked to 530 MHZ on my XDAII.
I also installed PocketZenPhone and Pocketbreeze. Somewhere I had read that these programs would not run on Magneto. But no issues on my machine! They both worked. The only issue I have with Pocketbreeze is that the category icons & colors are gone. Pocketweather also worked fine. Again, I was surprised that Magneto was so compatible.
Unfortunately, PocketContacts was a dead-end. "No contacts found" was the only message I ever got from it. Goodbye PocketContacts.
I had a few more programs in my folder on the PC, but the memory on my XDAII with Magneto is limited. Very limited. Very very limited in fact. But for me not such a big issue as I do not have too much necessary software on my XDA. I could live with this limitation for time being.
Anyway, I wanted to try Magneto for a week and see if I stayed with my new friend.
After I made the first few phone calls with Magneto I was impressed with the dialer. Nice interface. Also, it seems to me that the phone connects much quicker to the provider than before.
But why didn't they include something like the intellidialer? Well, the new contacts application is quite nice, so I will use the contacts instead. Not too bad.
Then, on day three, the disaster. Suddenly, the screen stopped reacting. Well, it actually didn't stop, it just didn't react to the places where I touched it with the pen.
I was already thinking about "hardreset", when it came to me that the screen orientation was wrong.
I had installed Vitobuttonmapper and mapped <rotate screen> to the record button as press and <start bluetooth> as press & hold. I figured out that I must have pressed the record button not long enough, therefore the <rotate screen> command was executed. But somehow, the screen orientation remained in Portrait but the touch screen was now in landscape.
I managed to fix this problem by changing back to Portrait and making a softreset. Then I tried to repeat this error. Yepp, the <rotate screen> was the culprit.
Consequently, my Magneto has no screen rotation anymore. But I can also live with this.
The rest of the week went fine. Magneto is stable and smooth.
Now the final question: Will I stay with Magneto? Yes, I will. I am often travelling and therefore I need a device that I can rely on. If I'm on the road and my XDA hardresets, I'm dead. Therefore Magneto is the solution for me. No hardresets, and even if the battery goes dead, I'm safe.
But one thing is clear to me. When the first Magneto devices come out, and hopefully there will be the Magician with Magneto, I will immediately retire my XDAII and buy one of these devices. Magneto is the future. No doubt about it.
What do I like the most about it besides the "goodbye hardresets"? for sure the softbuttons. Just great!
I hope this was useful.
Cheers
Pat
Hmmm.... Interesting.... Very, very interesting!!!!
I think I'll try Magneto real soon... However, I have a question: Is it possible to return to 2.06.00WWE just in case?
Thanks for such detailed story!

I have the same problem. But let me just say that I have 2 harddrives on my PC. Both with Win XP + SP2. I tried to synch Magneto on the harddrive I frequently use but it DOESN'T work... So I tried booting my 2nd harddrive. This 2nd harddrive has a fresh installation of Win XP + SP2 and other essential utilities like Office suite, WinZIP, etc.
And guess what...activesync 4.0 using USB WORKED using my 2nd harddrive. Very ODD...

YES it is possible to return to 2.06.00WWE...I have done exactly that.
I have been running Magneto for about 1.5 weeks. And I must say it's GREAT! But as you know it's just a leaked version so it has a LOT of bugs. So I've decided to go back to 2.06.00WWE until Magneto is more stable/reliable.
How to configure Connect via bluetooth ?
I done the WM2005 installation and i manage to connect via USB with everthing sync. But i like to know how you can setup the activesyc via bluetooth ? I own a Level One bluetooth dongle and i did try to connect via bluetooth in WM2003 before i upgrade to SE. Now in Wm 2005, i still have no luck to get it work. Help !!!
I m using Windows 2003 and had configure Comm 5 in ActiveSync 4.0, added bluetooth serial port 5 in widcomm drivers. And also i pair my XDA2 with my machine several time to make sure it is paired. I try everthing include try to do file transfer from my deskop also no luck.
Btw, i can't discover any ActiveSync service in "My Bluetooth Places", i can only see "Dial up networking, Push Object". I do c actvesync in WM 2003.
Everytime i choose "Connect Via Bluetooth", will get this message "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports ActiveSync. Would you like to set up a patnership now ?" Yes/No button. But i had done the pairing before that ?
please help.
Change "Secure Connection" to "Not Required"?
Works for me, without Magneto (yet)

I've got the same problems with activesync via Bluetooth. My device doesn't seem to recognise the Activesync service on my Sitecom Bluetooth device.
With 2003SE I didn't have any problems. Madkat's proposal didn't work.
Update to WM5
You are lucky, I was tryed whole last night but fail, it always give me the message "Error 101 - Connection error". USB connection is very good, I could do everything with cable

I have got the same problem connecting bluetooth adaptor D-Link DBT-120 with o2xda2 running on 2k3 not se. Anybody help?

Re: How to configure Connect via bluetooth ?
Thanks everyone for the solution. I had to revert back to 2003SE by Xdajojo version, because 2005 did not connect with usb or bluetooth adapter. activesync 4.0 does not seem to work properly on my device (O2 XDA2). I changed back to activesync 3.8 and worked properly with 2003SE. I can even go on internet using activesync. Also I have TOMTOM 3.0 Bluetooth version wich did not install on 2005. I will wait until proper stabilised version of 2005 is released by xda-developers team.
Is anyone else finding that their bluetooth is really slow at sending and receiving items. Also that there is no way to send items direct to a contact that is in your partnership list, you have to search for them every time you want to send something. If someone has found ways around these problems, please let me know.
an adaption of the Blue angel's bluetooth interface would be lovely. It had loads of options, and let you explore remote devices. This is just like the XDA2.
Would it be possible to port the BA software onto the wizard? I think it uses a different BT stack.
they were able to port the wizards rom to run on a blue angel. I guess they should be able to use the blue angels bluetooth on a wizard.
Please help - is so annoying
Ok, after a little research i found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33532 .It has an app which i installed and has helped a little. I can now send images direct to people i have paired with without having to search local bluetooth first. The thing is it only sends images to paired people. I want it to also send sound and video files. When in file explorer, holding down on an image brings up the extra option of "Send image via bluetooth" which then allows to send by the already paired devices. When doing the same on videos and sound, it doesnt give this option. Maybe this can be done in the registry, but i dont know alot about that so maybe someone could help?
i tried this on my kjam and i had a problem with it, so i uninstalled it.
the problem i had is that the bt keep switching off by itself with no reason, even if i was already syncing over bt, the connection is lost suddenly and i found out that the bt is off (even though the bt icon on the system tray shows its still on).
i don't know about you guys, but i had this prob twice, i reinstalled it again and gave me the same prob.
i can live without it.
Ok, maybe that stack is not all that great. After soft reset lost all sound, and BT does not work properly. Uninstalled and back to normal. So again is there any way to send to people in your paired list without having to search for them every time. Is becoming a pain coz some new phones turn off discoverable after 60 seconds. So they have to keep turning theirs back on. Its a simple option, dont know why they didnt put this in. Any help?
I haven't seen more than 50-60KBps. Has anyone else seen higher transfer rates?
Wizard's BT is useless. Buggy, slow and poor.
And it is not v2.0, it is v1.2
It does not have EDR.
It doesn't even have PAN ffs... :x

Info about BT in wizard. Directly from BT CIG's site. The problem is not with the Wizard, it is in usin MS BT stack.
thanks for that emmeborn, if the problem is the stack, do you know of a stack upgrade which works good? I tried the stack form the blue angel, but stuffed up my phone, so uninstalled it.
actually, i just looked at those pdf files, and at the bottom where it has the revisions, seems they have launched a version around 1 month ago. Would this be a software or hardware update. If its software then i reckon this could solve alot of problems im having.

It is the long awaited rom update. A test version of that rom has already leaked. You can find more info in the Wizard upgrade forum topic about that version.
I am awaiting the localized swedish version of that rom and the latest about that version is that it should be released mid March.
