Microsoft Bluetooth Driver?? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I just upgrade my magician to 1.13 w/ BigStorage. And now I cannot activate my bluetooth. Everytime BT was enabled, warning message pops up says "Please turn off Flight Mode first!" and BT changed to disabled.
I've tried to instal Bluesoleil driver and it works perfectly. However, everytime I switched to Microsoft driver, the problem occurs again. And BCHS (bluetooth stack) for A2DP didnt work either since it's using ms driver.
I've also installed BTHUSB_PATCH_AKU26.cab and no change at all. Maybe I missed some cab files from extended rom? Anyone have the same problem. Thank you.

Have you used a 3rd party program to turn off the radio or switch on/off flight mode?
I did that and it confused the heck out of the Magician ... it'd think the phone's in flight mode when it isn't, and kept telling me turn off flight mode before turning on BT ... (now, I never understand why you have to turn radio on to turn on bluetooth ... that's just stupid)
Anyways, since I switched to PhoneAlarm and used that to turn BT on and off that problem's gone away.
Good luck

I used PocketZenPhone. It has a function to turn on/off Flight Mode.
So in this case, I have to hard reset and start from the beginning, right? . Uhhh...it will take times for me to do it since all my works depends on my magician.
Any other posibilities?

"No Bluetooth Hardware" - and I haven't done any u

My Jam has recently decided that I dont' have any bluetooth hardware.
I have seen people complaining about this problem after they updated Radio or ROM - but I haven't done a single thing with my JAM. What they hellis going on. This thing is total piece of garbage....
you need to soft reset it
i have the same problem plus i have no audio on my phone..you can say that again man. abviously i already made a soft reset been doin it for 2 days now! damn! :x help anyone?
This is total garbage. How can a phone just start malfunctioning like that for no reason? This is pathetic.
I have an experience as: I have installed the radio scheduler which I can set to turn BT on and off as pre-scheduled. During the time the BT is off as scheduled, I manually turn it ON then the device say: No BT Hardware. During the time BT is ON as scheduled, I turn it OFF then ON again, no any problem's arised. When I uninstall the Scheduler software, everything's OK. But because I need radio scheduler application to turn GSM/BT ON and OFF automatically as my schedule so I decide not to touch the BT Icon in the bottom tray when BT is off. Without that problem the software run perfectly.
My XDAmini's BT is perfectly paired and worked with my Jabra BT 258. For Async function with my laptop, I use BT Tool 1.0 patch.
So for your cases, I think there is some software have been installed to turn ON/OFF BT function in lower level than the Microsoft's BT stack. Then when MS's BT stack come to check the hardware has been turn OFF, it found NO BT Hardware.
Hope the explanation may help.
I've the same problem with a french ROM. There is a message that told "no bluetooth hardware on this device" but at sometimes il works for a limited time.
I've this problem only under 1.06 ROM not with 1.03.
I need help to resolve this. Soft reset and hard reset change nothing as reflashing with 1.06
Help needing :?
Normally the issue was going to be fixed
Normally the issue was going to be fixed in the 1.06 see reporting on issue
Well.... I had the same message before when I upgraded to MA_DANG_WWE_10600_115_10500_SHIP. Then after a hard reset the problem gone. But his rom is not so stable.
Now I'm using the ma_cdlsku1_10600_110_10500_ship but override with the US radio to 110. And I can say is the most stable I had try on others.
After every soft reset my BT headset will paired by it self with my XDAmini, not like the others which I need to pair on manually. But only one thing is when the BT converage is out of range it had to pair them again. Anyway this is better then nothing.
Note: the radio 110 overiding is not for BT improvement. Just that is for the radio signal upgrade.
Hope this help.
When you want to enable the bluetooth try to make it also discoverable to other devices. This will enable for sure the blue tooth and you will not get again a "No bluetooth hardware" error.
Not true. I have mine discoverable, but this problem seems to occur randomly.
what error messege do you get? i fixed mine by installing that buzztooth or switch application im not sure of the name, but just try to remember the application that you tried/installed before that enable/disables the bluetooth with a shortcut. ow yea and a little tweak on the registry fixed mine..

Explain de REGISTRY trick on the prog you install. Give us more information please
what error are you getting? i modified the registry because i had an license expired error..if thats not the error dont bother with the registry. anyway about the bluetooth device not found error i found out the SKtools application is doing it..so the easiest way would be a restore registry on the SKtools app then soft restart.
how long does it take for you guys on a HardReset to get to the startmenu?
Same problems here:
1- No BT HW found
2- BT SW detects Flight Mode on and a message pop up saying to turn off FlightM to activate BT...but FlightMode is turned off yet! than the message is in Spanish and my ROM is Italian....
Really an annoying problem!!!
I hope that HTC has been informed about this!
Today, i've got one more this error. I'll made a screen copy when it happen.
When the problem occurs, there is no possibility to select bluetooth, all is grey
How does i take a old bt manager (before upgrading it works very well)

Modifying the flight mode facility

I currently use a QTEK s110 mainly for sat nav purposes. i dont use it as a phone at all. i am using tom tom5 with a globalsat bt-338 bluetooth reciever. with the bluetooth running it runs the pda battery down in about 2-3 hours if i forgot to lift the car charger from the other car. also it is a pin to start up as i have switch flight mode off and then wait fo rth phone to boot up before activating the tt software. so here are my questions.
is there anyway i can just get the tom tom to switch the flight mode off when i activate the tom tom software?
or is there anyway i can switch the pda off when not in flightmode rather than put it in standby as this just wastes the battery?
Can a shortcut button be created for the flight mode facility?
is there a fix for running the bluetooth with the flight mode on?
at present i have to switch off flight mode which becomes a pain when i have to switch it back on.
i have looked in to using the Globalsat sd-502 but it has compatibility issues.
i appreciate any help on this
Teb
"is there a fix for running the bluetooth with the flight mode on? "
tebs,
I know how you feel. This seems to be a problem with certain firmwares of the Qtec S110.
My manual states that holding down the power button turns the phone part off but not on my phone.
I'm currently testing Phone Alarm. It allows you to set up profiles. I've set one up which switches the radio (i.e. phone) off and bluetooth on. With it you don't have to go anywhere near flight mode. In fact, if you do, it'll get a bit confused. It's two presses on the today page to change modes. You can configure it to automatically put your phone pin in when switching the phone on. It's one press to toggle bluetooth on or off.
It takes some configuring but may do the job and its quite cheap (30 day trial)
Hi Borg,
i have also been using phone alarm for the last 3 weeks or so and its workin quite well. look as if i`ll have to purchase the software as my 30 day trial period is about to expire.
Yes, it's a pain that we have to buy software just to do what should be standard i.e. have bluetooth on without the phone on, but there you go. I contacted Qtek about this and they were pretty useless. Eventually I convinced them that it wasn't a faulty device but a faulty firmware and the only firmware that they offered me was the one I already had which is when I turned to PhoneAlarm.
Maybe one day HTC will put two physical switches on their devices to turn off phone and bluetooth - much better than software flight mode.
On a related note: I use sat nav whilst walking. I would like my bluetooth to actually turn off when I turn the device off so as to save PDA battery power. I'm sure the manual says it does turn off when you turn off the device but again it doesn't with my firmware - does yours?

I've been saying that for ages! But honestly I dont even need physical buttons. If they would at least make the communications module togging (ie flight mode plus other radio functions) accessible from an on screen area bigger than a pinhead, that would be enough for a start. Its impossible to do it one handed. I'd love to know who the bonehead is at MS product development that okayed such awful ergonomics on a critical funciton...
Borg, my one is the same i cannot switch it off with the bluetooth running. need to switch it off first before switching the pda off otherwise the screen goes blank for a second then comes back up again!
skagen i totally agree with your comments.
its a pity the globalsat sd-502 doesnt work with it either that way you`d save loads of power not using the bluetooth at all. unfortunately once again the qtek has let us done on that one too as it doesnt detect the memory card!
Try
1. radiooff.exe
2. Turn on Blutooth

radiooff.exe sounds interesting but I couldn't find it on my pocketPC. I looked in the windows directory and then I did a find. Is it a third party product?
Please ignore, I wasn't logged in when I read that message and so it didn't show me the download. Thanks

I think that this is probably a difference between the Qtek firmwares and the iMate firmwares. Qtek seem to have stuffed up in their current firmware.

Fantastic - thank you so much Krisu!
I have now uninstalled PhoneAlarm, done a soft reset and can now toggle the phone off and on using that app. If the bluetooth is currently running it leaves it running. No need to go near the flight mode button and should be able to assign it to one of the keys for fast turning off of the phone.
Thanks again!

LOL, yea I forgot to mention that my Qtek is running on an Imate ROM. That may be why...
moghisii101: No probs mate, I appreciate the info - if anything its shown me that the iMate rom flight mode is better implemented than the Qtek version.
tebs: check this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39281
You will find a bluetooth cycle program there (CicleBT). It seems to work ok with radiooff.exe but can get a bit confused if you download (from there) and use FlightMode. So I would suggest that you use radiooff.exe and CicleBT. I've assigned them to buttons. Phone Profiler also seems to have problems with our dodgy firmware. Again this is not the program's fault but what Qtek have done with their firmare.
And cheers for your thread as you've helped me solve my problems!
Check out SKScheMa at www.s-k-tools.com as it can turn WiFi BT and GSM on and off from a scripting language or from its scheduler.
Cheers cjb
I use the bluesoleil BT stack, and I can use tomtom with the phone off!

Anyone got TomTom working with BT GPS with Phone OFF?

As the title says. I have got TomTom 5.21 running fine on my Exec, but it will only connect to my BT GPS device when the phone radio is switched on. If you go to GPS Status it says "No GPS Device (Flight Mode)" as if Flight Mode in some way explains why the BT connection can't be made and I am stupid for even trying!
So has anybody got this to work with the phone radio switched off?
Whatcha Melty. Not for Universal, but the principle is the same: flight mode disables the phone+bluetooth. However, you want to disable the phone radio only, but leave bluetooth enabled. That requires a reg mod or a third party app.
Have you read this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=36788&highlight=

Hi Vijay,
I hadn't seen that thread. Thanks! I will try out some of the stuff and if I decide it would be better with an app, I'll knock one up. It'll just be a wrapper for TomTom that just forces flight mode off and then starts TomTom. I could run it instead of the normal TomTom app. Mind you, if I'm going to use my Exce as a phone then I might ot bother!
I've used the TAPI lib on the XDA2 to force flight mode off etc for a program for work, so it's not exactly difficult, but I just wondered if I was missing a simple setting somewhere.
i dunno.... looks to me like it's tomtom at fault here.
the wireless manager on my exec is happy to let me switch on bluetooth only, but switch off phone and wireless. it's just that tomtom sees phone off and assumes the worst
it only seems to check on startup though, so for a low-tech workaround you could always leave your phone on, startup tomtom and let it connect to your GPS, then switch back to wireless manager and switch off your phone.
once the connection is established, tomtom doesn't check again, and the WM wireless manager keeps the bluetooth connection up while turning off the phone
That actually makes perfect sense dalelane (although it means TomTom coders are mad). Thanks!

Widcomm Bt Stack On Wizard - Howto

Hi!
In the last some days i read a lot and found the following :
1. download the widcomm stack from axim site : LINK
2. install it + do a soft reset
3. get a registry edittor (Resco, CECMD etc.)
4. change these values :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WIDCOMM\BtConfig\SerialTransport]
BaudRate=115200 (Won't start at higher rate.)
Device=COM
FlowControl=0
Parity=0
Port=1 (This is the most important thing!)
-soft reset
-at the today screen you will find a BT icon, click on it and have fun
TESTED FEATURES
-BT FTP, tested with : SE K750i, hx4700.
-ActiveSync : NOT WORKING
KNOWN ISSUES
-unable to control from comm manager
-blue led not flashing, easy to forget
-a2dp not tested
-tested on aku3.2 and aku2.3 roms, others maybe ok.
-other devices can't download bt services list, but the services works well.
-maybe unable to remove, not tested yet
-turns off, when you trun off your device, that maybe a problem with BT headset.
DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK
Great news! Posted an announcement to the SP & Pocket PC Mag Expert Blog too!
Problems!!!
I've just installed the bluetoth stack in my phone. I've not yet tested it but i've found two showstop problems:
- activesync doesn't work anymore
- i cannot start the comm manager anymore (when i press the comm manager button in the upper left corner i can see only a small dialog with wifi and bluetooth power levels)
This is what i've done (maybe i did something wrong):
- copied the cab to storage and ran it (installed in device)
- soft-reset (required by the installer)
- edited the registry according to the first post
- soft-reset
I'm using an aku3.2 rom
-----EDIT--------------
Comm manager is working again. I had to reassociate it in Start-Settings-Buttons
Still no activesync (over USB at least)
bye
bye
Has anyone else tried this then? Has anyone tried the hermes cab install found in here...

There has been reports that it works on the trinity as well, so it may work on the Wizard.
Edit: No it doesn't. I have just ried it and it gives the memory error.
took the plunge and tried it
Bluetooth works and I can connect my itech S35 to it. The A2DP profile is detected and can connect... problem is, the signal is too weak to maintain a connection, in other words, I just heard 2 seconds of music and that's it... Another problem is my speakers now don't work... must do more reading...
It's hopeful though...
I am using a Dopdo838...

Did you try tweaking the BT params (for example, lowering the bit speed) to see whether it would work at lower bit speeds? See my related articles.
got look out for the links to your tips and tricks again
Hi Menneisyys,
Surrendered on Widcomm stack almost 2 months ago, now have to look again for the links for your tips and tricks for the Widcomm stack again...
Any idea on how to restore audio to my speakers... still dead at the moment... sigh... don't want to restore my back up yet...
i found that you don't really need to remove the shift* keys. if you already removed it, download the BTSpeedSwitcher from the download link, and set the speed to 921600bps. that may help.
Got it working fine
Thanks, but now I am a bit unclear, but will clear things up later. I used the speedswitcher as you suggested and but I had to disable audiogateway before it could work... now I am stuck as I put my wizard into standby and now it won't come back.... on... doh!
Well, one thing I can confirm, you can put it into standby and the bluetooth is still on.......
will feed back more when I get a clearer picture of what happened.... The sound quality is great..... just skipped for a second but is not back to normal again...
My wizard has now a nice quality A2DP sound without the high pitch noise...
went to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1073003&posted=1#post1073003
and used the files from Superdave... all is well now... look at my reply at the hermes thread.. Now I will just back up this "working configuration" and retry these settings on the cab from Aximsite... All the same, thanks to the legendary Mikelspikel
Just wanted A2DP to work so bad.... and it does now. nicely..

Ive installed the Superdave BBS_HERMES_03.CAB file and then modified the registry to use the above settings but every time i do the soft reset, the registry settings go back to the original values. Im stuck here.
Oh and i am using the last T-Mobile UK rom. (2.0 i think)
Edit 2: Now got it working. I had to kill voicecmd and cprog for it to load without giving the memory issue!

Leaskovski
sorry for the late reply but had a few setbacks during the night(I am in Malaysia)..
Got A2DP running all night and by mid morning... suddenly all went to hell..
1) No skipping with your suggestion of using MikelSpikel's speed switcher.
2) While trying to put it to standby to test if BT still works and it hung at first attempt. Something must have happened here as I recovered using the reset button and then suddenly I could get it to revert back to built in speakers and headset without issue. I thought, cool, it is like complete solution...
And then, I decided to backup this "complete solution" with SPB backup.. and after the softreset, I lost the ability to switch between headset and speakers. Then during the night while I sleep and use the headset, at around 3 am... the skipping came back...
and then... I restored the backup and now... got to tackle the skipping again.. never mind the muted speakers..
What linespeed(I use 320 dec), Blocks(16) and subband(8) do you use? I followed MikelSpikel's settings which work ok... last night...
back to the drawing board..
Right, i installed the superdave 03 version and then opened up the registry to make sure the settings matched the ones above. I had to kill cprog and voicecmd to start it without the memory error.
I have tested it now and although it is loading up ok, my headset connection is just not working properly. Its paired ok but nothing is getting routed through. However, my gps bluetooth device paired okay and is working fine with iGO 2006 after doing a detection. Damn shame about this headset! I am using a parrott ck3000.
redo..
Re-installed everything again and now I got a working version, some things to note though on my wizard..
1) I must overclock to 260mhz(battery status method) before I get skip free music.
2) Leaskovski, I had the same problem too in the beginning, where there is no audio getting through. Did you go to Bluetooth Manager and check the status of your headset? i went to mine(ItechS35) and I can see that the Wizard is sending data through successfully but there is no sound coming out of the headset. I solved this(that time, I don't know why it worked but it did) by going to Bluetooth services and removing the Check box for audio gateway enabled, and then music started coming through. I know, does not sound logical but it worked... that time..
Now hoping to find a way to redirect audio back to speakers when bluetooth is not used..
not tonight though.. its 10.46 pm now where I am...
This doesn't look promising for how i though the BT audio might work with this stack. I was hoping for something like the following...
"A good example of this is MS Voise command running on the MS BT stack. The two devices are paired and connected, however there is currently no streaming. You then receive the text message and MS Voice command reads the message back to you. Just before the message is read, the connection between the devices is made live, and thus the message gets read over the BT headset."
I was hoping that this was going to work for all applications like media player and iGO. I can reproduce what it is doing at the moment using the BTAudio programme that is available on these boards. I just wanted to get around this 'constant' streaming of silent noise.
Damn shame.
Okay for anyone wanting to play with this, here is how i installed and got it running...
1) Download from this thread post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1072773&postcount=72 the file BBS_HERMES_03.zip.
2) Install onto your wizard and soft reset when asked. Upon the reset, the device will moan at you about not having enought memory to load the drivers. Click ok to close this.
3) Load up your registry editor (i use FDCSoft Task Manager) and make the following mods as stated in the first post...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WIDCOMM\BtConfig\SerialTransport]
BaudRate=115200 (Won't start at higher rate.)
Port=1 (This is the most important thing!)
If you only want audio routed to headset when there is audio to route then make this reg edit...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WIDCOMM\Plugins\handsfree]
Audiohandling=21
4) Do not do a soft reset yet.
5) Now fire up your Task Manager (i use FDCSoft Task Manager) and kill any memory hungry tasks. The ones i kill which then allow me to start the stack is voicecmd.exe and cprog.exe.
6) Now click on the BT icon in the system tray and turn BT on.
Obviously there must be some memory leaks some where in the wizard because a couple of people have said that later in the day, if you try to turn BT on again it wont start due to memory requirements. Anyway, the best thing i can think of is to leave BT on after you have turned it on.
Currently, the blue led will not flash when BT is one. Try not to use the Normal Comms Manager to turn BT one as well as i think this trys to turn the MS stack on which won't work (probably due to memory requirements! )

I didnt get this to work in the end by the way.
I tried your idea to leave BT all the while but some problems pop up..
1) If turn off the headset without disconnecting it(BT still left on and the phone goes on standby, sometimes it won't come back.. a poke at the reset button is the only way..
2) I left BT on and disconnected the headset properly. Great BT is still on... BUT after a few hours, I can still connect the headset, but audio is not going there anymore... ??? but goes into internal speakers?

Hmm, i dont have those issues. I am using it with my carkit, so when i turn the engine off and remove the keys, the kit turns off. I haven't had to reset the device apart from when i have turned BT off and then tried to turn it back on again at a later stage (then giving me the memory issue).

Do you happen to have BigMike bluetooth running?

Try going through your power management under settings.
You might have tick a few things there.

Well... check out your settings if you have a program runing under... and it needs conections via BT, Wi-fi or GPRS... your device gonna wakes up trying to get conection all the ways it can... if nothing is runing behind maybe was a bad flash... reflash it...
Hope all we can help you...

It could either be Bluetooth running and also it could be some appointment/message turning your device on. Also, do you have your device cradled? ActiveSync (if connected to PC) will turn your device on to sync.
Hope this helps

There is no fix. Since WM5, the BT driver requires that it be turned on periodically or else it turns itself off. All ROM cookers (AFAIK) use the big mike fix driver to keep the BT alive.

I read somewhere that if you installed another BT stack that eventually it would solve the problem? Is this true?
ok there is fix but i do not advice you to use it if you use BT handsfree - because with original driver BT turns off when device get in standby and this one keeps it working
you can install S2U2 and set:
Lock when device wakes up: ON
Power Off in: 5s (this is the minimum).
this is not a solution, but more like a workaround...this works for me well...
