I bought a bluetooth GPS receiver off of ebay and when I could not make it work with my XDA I investigated and then learnt that there is somehting missing with Himalaya's blue tooth manager. I also discovered that "pocket bluetooth tools" solves the problem.
So I hurriedly downloaded and installed it but when I connect to my GPS, XDA bluetooth manager reports a connection but no communication. At this point "pocket ....." is suppose to kick in and offer me a second screen with connection options. But it does not.
Has any one uses this utility, or got GPS serial (SPP) working, or can inform me of an alternative. Help is as usuall appreciated.
PS: my hardware is OK since XDA works with my handsfree unit.
regards.

Anyone using this combination and if so, how are they finding it works in practice, especilally in terms of it conflicting with the use of the phone?
What actually happens when using GPS in car and the phone is answered using Bluetooth Headset - are there any conflicts using the two Bluetooth equipment simultaneously?
Is the GPS signal still retained? Do you manually have to close the phone screen after your call is finished and/or does it then revert to the SmartST screen.
What is the best windshield suction mount to purchase?
Any other issues I should know before I purchase the Navman 4410 Bluetooth GPS? I gather that it is now compatibale with the Xda II using the following third party tools:
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/BTHTools1012.zip
http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/EnableCharPin.zip
If you search this forum under navman 4410, you will find a lot o good reponses.
I have the navman 4410, and its perfect, NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER.
You have to load the patches of course.
After the call you have to go to the smartstscreen
I got the navman this week, and i'm unable to make it work with my i-mate.
the EnableCharPin does'nt seem to work for me.
maybe the file on the server was changed (maybe someone can post here a working file), or maybe it's my i-mate fault, but i just can't to bond the two devices.
Did someone test it AFTER installing the "Bluetooth fix" file?
(the bt fix is from club imate, the link is http://www.cddnet.com/Support/Bluetooth.cab )

Hi
I'm new to this site and would like a little help if possible.
I recently went from an IPAQ 5550 to an XDA. I installed my TOMTom3 software to the XDA with no problem. When i start up TT3 the software calls up the GPS part first and then starts the main TT3 prog. (as it did on my IPAQ). Although i haven't bought a suitable connecting cable yet for my receiver (the old receiver IPAQ plug does actually fit into the XDA!) when i start navigator up the XDA complains that there is a problem with COM1 not existing. After a couple of "OK" clicks it then boots up navigator and the maps etc seem to be as normal but the GPS says it is disabled.
Any ideas greatly apreciated
Doug
The iPAQ and XDA connectors although physically identical are not the same. The GPS disabled message is because it can't detect the GPS which given you don't have the correct lead is understandable.
As for the COM1 not exisiting error, do you have nything else which may be using COM1 such as an external or clip on keyboard driver?
To enable com 1, go to settings/connections and uncheck the "recieve incoming beams" also if you have an external keyboard driver that will also need disabling.
Now i'm impressed. Thanks to both of you for the replies. I unchecked the beam box and it goes direct to TT3. Brilliant.
(I think a donation may be in order soon)

I have a step-by-step guide to accessing the internet over bluetooth on my XDA II, but I dont have the program "Bluetooth Manager". Can somebody please tell me if I should have this already, or where I can get it from?
Thanks
Allan
it was a program that came with my bluetooth dongle
when i installed the cd that came with the usb dongle
i small blue icon with the bluetooth logo came up beside my clock
and when i click it bluetooth manager comes up
maybe it have a different name with your dongle or what ever way you have bluetooth in your pc
I am using toshiba's bluetooth stack as BT is built into the laptop. The guide shows bluetooth manager software on the pocket pc too. This is what I require (I think) to connect to the laptop.
Thanks
Allan
looks like you found a guide which is for the vidcmom stack and not the ms stack
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/tribal1.asp
i cant say i know anything about toshiba's bluetooth though
This still seems like BT software for my laptop. I want "bluetooth manager" or other BT software for my XDA II. If you have a look at section 7 of the following link: http://home.comcast.net/~spam-target/activesyncz.html
It shows "bluetooth manager" being used on the XDA.
Any ideas how to get this?
Thanks
Allan
allanmb,
That's 'WIDCOMM Bluetooth Manager' (section 7)
you can get & download in this forum. (try to search )
i wasn't lucky using that.
but you dont need the widcomm bluetooth stack to activesync over bluetooth and so access the internet by using activesync's pass network connection option
if you want the PAN network profile though you'll need to install the widcomm bluetooth stack
Hi People!
My first message at this board!
I hope you can help me solving the following problem:
I can not establish a Bluetooth connection between the O2 XDA Mini S and the Adapt AD-500 GPS Bluetooth Mouse.
The GPS Receiver is detected by the Wizard but with an "?" in front of its name.
The Bluetooth key is accepted and i made in and outgoing comports but the connection is still not funktioning (no connection recognized by the GPS receiver).
I looked in the WM 5 help on the wizard and it told to do some changes in the settings / gps menue. But there is no gps menue!
Is it because i have no navigation software installed till now? For me it sounds that WM 5 has this gps menue regularly but i can not find it in the settings.
It would be very nice if someone could help me connecting the receiver to my wizard because i dont know how to go on.
Heeelllllpppp!
Kind regards
Carsten
I know I'm not the only one to have experienced this but I can't find a solution in the archive. Any help would be much appreciated.
System: O2 XDAII, Rom v1.60.00, WM2003. In other words never upgraded.
GPS receiver: Holox BT321
I'm trying to get these to pair but although the XDA sees the Holox and makes a pair I'm getting a steady light on the Holox showing no active connection between the two.
It seems to be a com port issue. The only incoming com port available through Bluetooth->Connection settings is COM5. I've downloded Pocket Bluetooth Tools and attempted to configure the connection as a Serial port, but the only port available for selection is COM7. Presumably this is why they won't pair up properly? I read things about 'creating com ports' and such like but I see no way to do that on my OS.
The GPS does not have any software with it, all that's on the cd is an installation guide. The Holox website looks extinct so no help there.
I haven't tried to put any satnav software on the XDA yet, if that makes any difference. I have TomTom 5 (a used copy so not sure if it will activate!).
Any help gratefully received! Thanks.
Oops never mind - the clue was in the GPS software, or lack of it. I've installed a freeware gps prog and the holox is blinking away happily now
Use GPSGate
Ok!,the best way ( form experience) to pair most of the GPS devices with A PDA, no matter which one with WM2003 or later is to use GPSGate software from Franson http://franson.com/gpsgate/ , this will allow you to split the hardware S.Port to more than one virtually, and starts the BT automatically ones you set it....
