Broken LCD! Replace? Please Help! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

So I went to bed after a crazy party and woke up with broken LCD. I have taken pretty good care of the phone and it cost me like $500 US so that sucks. Does anyone know a semi easy way that is at all cost efficient? Thanks in advance!

what part of the screen is broken?
if its the touch screen that doesnt work you can get a replacement off ebay relatively cheap
if its the lcd then its a lot more expensive - somewhere around $120USD although i saw one guy selling a replacement lcd for $70USD
there are also a few sites that you can send the phone in and they do the repairs and send it back within a week - but that costs around $200 or more
i cracked my screen and found an mda on craigslist for $225 barely used...now i have 2 mda's, one for daytime soberness and the cracked one for night intoxication

Screen For Sale

ok people, i have listed this before and got messed around with people saying they are going to pay then no money arriving, the screen is 100% mint condition, as it was used with a screen protector all of its life, only mark is a slight water mark between the touchscreen and the actual screen itself, this makes no diffrence at all to the workings of the touchscreen and it can only be seen when the screen is not in use(standby) so when you are using the phone for work, games or whatever you will not even notice the mark, im looking for £55 delivered in the uk. postage will be more if you want it sent outside of the uk.
Cheers
Mike

Screen cracked, looking for a replacement

Hey,
My HTC Universal screen just cracked, surprisingly without any outside intervention. It was ok this morning and was sitting on my desk. When some friend called me and I picked it up the whole upper screen was cracked. Weird.
Anyway, it's time to replace because I really like this device. So I was looking on ebay and found some sellers who will send it for around 130$-140$ USD. I was wondering if there are some cheaper sellers available outside of ebay that I couldn't find.
Also, maybe someone has a broken Universal with a working screen. My device is missing the front plate (where the IR) and I could always use the extra parts.
Thanks!

hermes touchscreen dead... UH OH

I discovered my phone filled up with sprite during a house move for my sister , long story short over the course of 2 hours or maybe more my touchscreen slowly died and now does not work at all.
Ive taken it apart and all looks well, I've got my finger on the "order new screen/digitizer" button just want to know if anyone knew if that was a bad idea and wasn't going to fix it... any suggestions or notes? thanks guys
Buy new LCD (complete).. If you buy just the digitizer then you have to unglue the digitizer from the screen, Align and reglue the new one. If you stuff it up its a lot of time and effort wasted and you still have a dud phone...
The complete lcd WILL cost more (on ebay Oz digitizer is $20 and lcd is $100) but the hassels of putting in a new digitizer are ridiculous...
I actually just bought a "broken" Hermes of the same model and paid $120.. It still worked fine but I now have OTHER spare parts if something else dies...
Just a thought....
Cheers...
well http://www.blackberry8100parts.com/...Touch-Screen-Digitizer-With-Tools_p_3-73.html is what i was looking at, as far as i can tell thats the screen and the digitizer together and i dont have to mess around with putting the two together for 35$, or am i mistaken?
Looks right and is a good price too...

E ink screen shattered

Hi everyone,
Phone dropped from very low height, front screen ok, e ink screen in 1000 little pieces...
I am in Netherlands, where could I order new screen repair set or have it fixed? Thoughts or suggestions anyone?
Thanks!
I'd try Yota support first. You'll probably have to send it in, and the price will likely be close to that of a second hand or even new YP.
Did you check if it is insured in any way? Maybe you used a creditcard with insurance to purchase it?
It definitely sucks to be you in this situation, but if your phone is actually open on one side now: maybe you can post some pictures of the internals?
No credit card unfortunately, online retailer to big to care, yotaphone only has support in Germany I think, I'll post shots of the back of the phone soon
I feel for you dude
The shattered back, should be easy to replace no?
Probably won't be easy/cheap if the gorilla glass is bonded to the EPD, then both will have to be replaced. Did you inquire with Yota support yet?
If the EPD screen is still kind of working, and you can't get the phone repaired, you can't sell it off, and it's constantly annoying you by taking up precious space on your desk, it could always have a second life as a development phone. </vulture mode>

Now I feel bad for even mentioning it. Broken or not, it's entirely upto jmreijnen what he wants to do with his device, most likely try to get it fixed first. My hint was: in the unlikely event that you're about to toss it away or let it collect dust till eternity, there could be another use for it.
Hopefully it can be fixed for a reasonable fee. I couldn't find an official list of Yota service centers, but Yota support should be able to provide it. If Germany has one, that might not be a bad option to send it to from The Netherlands.
Well, currently it is in its case, on a pile of other cases, but yes, will probably try via Yota, ink screen is working fine btw...

Good luck, keep us posted, would be good to know what Yota or Yota's partners charge for a repair like this.
BTW: I was pretty close to your situation this weekend: my phone slipped from my hand in a parking lot, was saved by Yota's bumper.
Careful! It was a very low drop that killed it for me. No word from Yota or the German repair partner, nothing.
I broke the AMOLED screen of my second yota 2 a week after it arrived.... On its first proper day out of the house. 70cm drop onto fine gravel car park. Completely shattered the screen. It continued working but after a few days the glass started crumbling apart.
I emailed both my supplier and yota support. Took a week to get a reply from supplier, a couple of days from yota. I told both that I wasn't happy with supposed gorilla glass covered screen shattering like that. My old s2 had survived various falls on a range of surfaces without ever breaking.
After a week of emails my supplier confirmed the screen would be replaced under warranty but I'd not be able to make other warranty claims on screen after replacement. It was the first screen my supplier had to replace. Took a fortnight. I had to pay transport and labour costs. Totalled about $250 Australian in March.
Response times were very slow but they did get it fixed for what I thought was a reasonable price. (Still about 30% of what I paid for it) Cheaper than another phone anyway.
My supplier was Hong Kong based drop shipper: Expansys.
Good luck.
On German Amazon there is a review of a guy who had the same problem. The service allegedly asked for around 400 Euros to fix the phone, which is harsh considering you can buy a used one on ebay for around 450 Euros and new ones with full warranty for about 520-550 Euros...
But I don´t know if it´s true! Contact

and they should give you a fair quote on the issue.
You might want to check out the new Siswoo R9 phone with e-ink back screen as well, it retails for about 350-400 Euros on AliExpress, but I wouldn´t expect the same level of Software and Widget expertise the people from Yota put into their phone. One of the main reasons I still would´t switch to other companies is the professional software service of Yota. From what I saw, the cheaper models coming out now (like the Oukitel U6 for around 200 Euros) all use the same software options you can get with an InkCase - and their software simply s*cks. Almost no options apart from some basic notifications and the mirroring of some pictures or a book, that´s it. My Yota is the Prince of Sophistication, compared to that
In Switzerland repairing the phone should cost about 200 swiss francs (with an iPhone 4 as temporal replacement) - I'm now waiting for about 3 weeks, but since I didn't get any further notice I suppose (respectively I hope) it will for sure be below the upper limit of 250 swiss francs I specified.

@jmreijnen
hi there, Did you replace the E-Ink screen? I broke my LCD and can't find any replacement, besides the official datrepair.de who want to charge 200€ for the repair. That's too much. I already opened it and it's quite easy to replace the E-Ink. Just be aware that there is a screw just right from the micro usb (LCD at the top). It's hidden behind a rubber part that you can remove with a thin screwdriver just by lifting the rubber at the side of the micro USB. If you don't remove that screw, the frame of the e-ink will bend.
Why am I writing this? Well, I would need a YP2 with an intact front screen to repair mine. Would you like to sell yours? If yes, drop me a PM.

Hey @lumosimann, where in Switzerland did you get that quote?
@DeGon: So the 200 swiss francs were given by mobiletouch.ch as an estimate for repairing the front site. Finally I decided also to repair the little fracture on the back which finally cost 312 swiss francs, but now it looks as it'd be new.
repair took 7 weeks - but I was given a temporal replacement.

Thanks for the tip! Will check with mobiletouch
The back of my HK supplied yotaphone is supposed to gorilla glass but feels like very thin plastic to me. The other AMOLED side (gorilla glass) seems to scratch very easily too. Both sides seem to be not very strong. Has anyone else thought this? Maybe fakes?
The EPD screen is very very thin and curved, it doesn't seem like Gorilla glass to me. I bet replacement costs big bucks.

My second Yotaphone 2 in family. E-Ink screen already arrived in box broken on yp206 from Aliexpress. To me it looks like ordinary glass that is used on cheap chineese models such as Oukitel C3 etc. Gorilla glass cant be broken just by a little harsh transport (Box is in good shape). Not crushed. Whats more, due to the fact that this cheap off glass is curved on sides it probably has some serious inner tension. Looks like post manufacture model made in different factory. I know the phone is beautiful and all but but seriously watch out. I already filled a dispute but arrogant chineese seller want to blame me.

Digitizer or whole LCD? Experience?

I cracked the screen but just the digitizer as far as I can see.. Screen has worked and digiziter for about 6 months seems 100% only 3 little hairline cracks. Ive waited because replacement cost so high and its not that bad doesn't stop function. I was wandering If anyone here has just replaced digi becouse thats way cheaper. And if this unit is one piece or they are actually separate and easy to replace separately from each other.
Thanks.
The Digitizer and LCD are glued together with silicone, which yes, can be separated and reseated, but it will not look or operate at 100% if you try to do it separately by hand.
I've repaired many phones for friends - a part time job has me fixing ~10 iphones a day - and let me tell you, it's not worth the aggravation or time to try to seat a digitizer on an LCD perfectly. Machines do it for a reason.
I can get LCD+Digitizer assemblies for the 6P at my shop in Canada, which run about $250 CDN (185 USD) + shipping/tax. Whether that price is better online or not, I'm not sure.
