GPRS While Connected to ActiveSync - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

So, I noticed that my GPRS gets disabled anytime I connect my Cingular 8125 to my computer via ActiveSync. This is annoying since I not only synchronize with my computer, but I also have an account with 4SmartPhone that utilizes the GPRS connection.
Is there a way to have the GRPS radio stay connected so that both will synchronize?

just connect to AS 4 and use it (of couse your PC must have internet connection)
I'm using ActiveSync 4.1, WIFI to connect my PC to the internet and an USB port to synchronize my Pocket (SPV M3000 /Qtek 9100)
When my Pocket PC is connected to the PC, this "lock" the WIFI acces to the Internet. After synchronisation, it's necessary to reboot my computer to be ale to use the WIFI acces to internet.
Do you have an idea to correct this problem (this never happens before with ActiveSync 3.8) ?
Thanks in advance.
Thank God for that I'm having the same problem when i connect my wizard to my PC for active Sync my wifi in fact my internet connection locks up. When i look in network connections on my PC I have another Local Area Connection 3 ??????
But my web is locked ????
As soon as i disconect my wizard i loose the LAC3 but have to reboot my PC to get web acess again???
Anyone got any ideas???
I dont have wifi acces at home but when i connect to the pc which is connected to adsl, the wizard is also connected to the lan as i am able to surf the internet. It seems perhaps you have established another connection via your pc? my wifi is disconnected btw.

I have the same problem. After a tip from someone on the MS Active sync forum who said it may be something to do with security I have worked out the following.
1) All computers loose all netork connections if they are connected to the router wirelessly and I try to Activesync.
2) If the Activesunc computer is connected to the router via CAT5 and I Active Sync then all is ok.
3) If I disable wireless security both WEP and WPA I can Activesync with my laptop connected wirelessly via to the router without loosing my network connections.
4) Something strange is happening still: When the PDA is connected to Activesync both computers keep popping up the UPNP icon telling me new network device found, even though its been connected for some time.
5) I have tested with WPA security, I will test with WEP next to see if it still has the same problem.

I hit this issue with my home LAN when syncing via cable - all wireless clients dropped their connections and I got an earful from the lodger
I found that this doesn't occur when syncing via Bluetooth.
Mmm, thanks for the info - I spent hours trying to get this running yesterday and hitting the same problems - I actually cocked up my entire network and had to reboot everything! Will try bluetooth later...

Actice Sync and GPRS at the same time

Hi
When my XDA mini is in the docking station it connects to the PC with Active Sync. So far so good. With that Active Sync profile the XDA is not allowed to connect to the internet because it is set up to be connected to a work network. Everything works fine.
When I now manually connect to gprs I can access my private mail.
But somehow it won't connect automaticly to gprs when trying to get my emails, which is set up to get them every 30 minutes.
the problem is, that my signal strength is very bad at my desk. so the gprs disconnects from time to time. but i don't want to manually connect all the time.
When I am not connected to Active Sync everything works as it should work.
or is it not possible at all to have 2 connections enabled? because I realized, that he disconnects active sync after a while when he is connected to gprs???

Passtrough Connection

When I have my imate jam on sync with activesync connected i am unable to use the internet connection on the device.
How can I do this?
I'm not so sure but I think it is automatic.

Using BT to check hotmail

Hi all,
I set up my Trinity to also check my hotmail account. Ofcourse, when I do this outside the confines of my home Wifi network, the P3600 automatically connects to hotmail via my UMTS connection.
When I'm on the road I don't mind this, but when I'm at the office, where there is no wifi, I would like to use the connection my PC has to the internet. I was thinking about using BT for this but don't know if this is possible at all...
Anyone with suggestions?
I don't think this is possible via Activesync, but if possible I would like to avoid the use of it anyway...
Thx for any suggestions!
if connected to activesync one is connected to the network of the pc with activesync
unless steps have been made on the pc, pda or office network to block it
i surf with bluetooth connection to activesync all the time
Likewise i use the USB active sync connection to connect to the internet on my Trinity, and Alpine as well. The only restriction, as mentioned, is that if the PC has limited access rights then so does the PDA.
Hey thanks Rudegar & deedee, I didn't know this actually
So simple and obvious, but I never tried it out
Guess I'll have to install Activesync on the [email protected] too then....

[Q] Any way to make Outlook Mobile sync email through 3G when USB-connected to PC?

Ok, so recently my company has put in tighter firewall restrictions and as a result, when I have my WM phone activesync connected to my PC, Outlook Mobile cannot sync email anymore through the activesync internet pass-through.
When I have my phone disconnected from PC, it can sync email through 3G connection.
As soon as I plug my phone into the company PC, Outlook Mobile gives the "error synchronizing" message when trying to sync email through the AS-connection.
So what I want to do is to have OutlookMobile to continue to sync email through 3G instead of Activesync connection even when it's USB-connected to PC.
And I tried:
1. From PC activesync, set connection to "Work Network" (instead of "Automatic")
2. From PC activesync, "Allow wireless connection even when device is connected to this computer"
3. From WM, in Outlook Mobile I have configured "Server Setting" to connect via "Fido ISP" (instead of "Internet" or "Work network")
With this configuration, I verified internet browser, like Opera, stops using the Activesync internet-pass through to connect to internet. It indeed uses 3G even when my phone is AS-connected to the PC. I tried disconnecting the network connection from my company laptop, and my phone, which is AS-connected, can continue to browse internet pages.
But somehow Outlook Mobile continues to use the AS-connection to sync email, and because of our company's firewall restriction it continues to give me failure messages.
You would think those 3 settings would force Outlook to use the 3G connection instead of USB connection to sync email ... but nope.
Anything you guys can suggest?
