Hi I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
I love my S200 it is perfect in every way, just lately after installing mNotes though i have had numerous problems, which seem to be only cured temporally by hard resetting the device.
I reset the device then within the next 1- 2 days I have lost my Bluetooth connection, it all seems OK but you cannot turn it on, when you click OK and go back and check both the Bluetooth on and discoverable boxes have had the crosses removed.
This problems also seems to extend to the sound when you turn it up, the phone turns it down.
And activesync just seems to stop working requiring a hard reset.
It almost like even after hard resetting the phone keeps hold of some of the old settings, is there a way of making it factory default apart from a hard reset, ie a HARD HARD reset ?
I need to get the mNotes working to stop my company forcing me to have a blackberry, but at this rate my device is hard rest almost every 24hrs.
Also how the hell can you back the device up now, in the old Activesysnc you had the option but now its gone !!!
Here’s hoping some one has the answer.
Cheers
Could you please tell how you hard reset your device? What version is your ROM?
I hard reset the device by pressing in both camera and record buttons and then pressing the stylus into the hole in the bottom, hold the record button in and let the other out, it then gives you the choice press sned to reset or any other button to escape.
The Rom is 2.9.7.24 WWE
Date 2/9/06
Radio 02.07.20Protocol 413.1.03
Ext rom 2.9.7.106
Cheers
It's quite unlikely that any settings from installed programs could remain after a hard reset.
After the next hard reset, I would try to use the phone without any program installation to make sure that it works under its default settings. If problems come back, then you may have a defective device and would have to return it back to your customer support. If there is no problem I would then try to install program one by one to make it clear which program causes the problem. Good luck!
Bluetooth not working
Also seem to have the same sort of problem.
Bluetooth works ok for several days and then for no reason refuses to connect to my bluetooth car kit and have to do a hard reset and start agn.
This has happened several times now.
Device is UK Orange M600 Standard rom etc.
Was wondering if to flash with a different rom maybe i-mate to see if this cures it. any ideas anyone.

This is what I have done for the last 6-7 days, it is now becoming very frustrating. Even my old MDA did not require this much attention.
Now thinking about putting in the latest Dopod Rom.
Hard reset last night , no bluetooth now and Activsysnc no longer works.
So I supose its another h-reset or an upgrade ??????
Agree with you to try to upgrade it to the most recent Dopod 818Pro ROM (ROM version: 2.15.13.27 WWE). I have been using this new ROM for a while without any serious problems.

my 1 week old Imate almost everyday gives me a black screen with no response what so ever from its buttons. even removing the battery does not help! I have to then hard reset the damn thing inorder for it to be back in business.
Any thoughts
note: running both firmwares didnt help 1.72 and 1.66
Take off either wisbar or spb software, (if you have any installed). When I used to have wisbar advance and today plus running together, somehow they always trigger a hard reset. Using one or the other helps. I'm using today plus 2.0 only because it has its own task manager.
hm..
I also han Hard Reset
I had installed Spb Pocket Plus,is this a problem?
AND plz. Everyone WHO had HARD RESET on I-mate/XDA2/Qtec 2020/MDA 2 TELL US WHAT PROGRAMM was a case of Hard Reset
My same old story...
After a week of usage... it auto hard reset...fully loaded with softwares.
Didn't have time to install any software and it hard reset two days later at abt the same time. Funny why this happen when the set has only factory default softwares.
Did some checking at PDA stores and there are many possibilities to this.
One of them is not properly following the 8hr charging time when it is new and also overnight charging. To solve it is to charge it until its full and disconnect the charger. Do this for a week and see what happens.
So far, my set never once auto hard reset again after i follow this routine.
Hope this helps....
thanx for an advice.
dead......
I just installed EasyTweak on a i-Mate v.1.72 and it went completely dead.
had to take the bat out for some minutes for it to recognise the hard-reset......
i'm gonna cry......
I am getting a similar problem with my 1 week old XDAII. It is all absolutely fine, and then suddenly it won't switch on or soft reset so I have to hard reset and restore a previous backup.
I thought it iwas battery related, but after hard reset, the battery is still got enough charge.
Any help greatly appreciated.
This is crazy!! exacly the same folks, my 1 week old XDA2 have been hard reset like 20 times!!! everything works fine and suddently I can´t turn it on and the soft reset doesn´t work. So hard reset and start all over again untill the next hard reset that can overcome within hours or 1 day time.
What I´m I gonna do.... it´s the second unit I´m testing.... and the same in both
Bill (from Spain)
Me too
Every week, keeps hard reset, I tried everything, every ROM, and nothing. At this time my phone is Hong Kong (yes I send it!) going to a Service center to see what they can do. I saw a xda2 from a friend and his got a New ROM that isn't avaliable ate www.myxda.com .... Any sugestions? and I yeard about Windows Mobile third edition
Can't stop the hard reset?
BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP!
I'm using Sprite Backup...its so much faster than the stock ones and best thing is it saves as an exe file. All you need to do is backup to the SD card and you're safe.
I have same experience:
I was doing fine when I went overseas over the weekend. As I was travelling, I powered off. And after an hour or so, I was unable to power on. It has nothing to do with the battery. No button or soft reset can bring up the screen. Only hard reset.
Note that I don't have such a problem when I power off at night. And both my batteries were charged >8hrs at new and I stop charging my battery when it reaches 100%. Not to mention I changed the battery as I thought it was due to no power. So, not a battery problem.
I don't think it is the software problem either, as after hard reset, I still get that problem when I powered off for an hour.
I did notice something on my 2nd encounter: the Phone app was up because I received a call. After I powered off, it stuck. At night, I closed all my apps and power off at the Today. I wonder if that is the cause.
Suggestion for those that have the same problem:
either
1) don't power off with your Phone apps running - close it totally
or
2) run Windows Media and turn off your screen or run some Display Off utility instead of power off
HTH
Hi all:
Yes, I uninstalled the spb utility and now the xda seems to work better plus the battery last twice as much as before with the spb utilities!!!
On the other hand I installed the sprite backup and it´s much faster than the build in app.
I hope it doesn´t hard reset anymore, but still testing it, only 24 hours without hard reset, I´ll confirm it after 3 or 4 days of smooth work...
See u
Bill
does any one know how we solve this damn bug !!
my 2 weeks old Qtek 2020 that i bought from london. crashes down and without reason performs hard reset every couple of days, i have backups but it is very frustrating, and all the time i have a feeling that the system is not stable.
my device info are :
rom version 1.66.00 wwe
rom date 02/20/04
radio version 1.10.00
protocol version 1337.18
extrom version 1.66.130
do i need to update the rom to solve the problem and if so what is the link to it
or are there any other suggstions how to solve the problem
Back to top
It might be for the following reasons:
1) some software you installed hard reset it or caused it to hard reset
2) the battery is not working properly or you left it to dry up
3) faulty hardware
Cheers
if it were faulty hardware then it's odd that a hardreset always works
Hmmm, sounding all to familiar. My XDA2, 1.66.00 WWE, had it a month, been back to o2 once and is on the way back now. I was having loads of problems with the thing freezing, mainly when taking it out of my pocket, turning on and not being able to do anything. I even ran it for a month with no extra software at all and it kept happening. Lets hope the service center can pin the problem down soon as ive currently had hardly any use out of the thing.
could it have something to do with the 2003 issue with not baing able to run more then 13 or how much was it processes
maybe some process get killed which is needed to turn on somehow
it would explain why people seem to get it more often if they have fancy today and skinning items which also have their own processes
I am beginning to thing this 'bug' relates to the battery.
I have charged my XDAII overnight for a week and it seems to be Ok since then !
to those who have unintentional hard resets on their XDA2, did you all upgraded your rom by yourselves? my XDA2 is just 3 days and i want to be extra careful with mine as i just installed tons of softwares today.
it's been awhile since my hardreset itself last
and my xda2 still have the 1.66 rom that it came with
HELP NEEDED!
Yesterday I bought a Hermes (Vodafone 1605).
Everything was fine, I installed Opera and tried the wi-fi.
Then it locked and there was non way for turning it off. So I made a soft reset and I found out it hangs on the vodafone splash screen.
I tried a hard reset and nothing changed.
I can see some codes in the lower part of the screen as it tries to boot up but nothing happens.
I looked up some threads and tried to remove the battery for 20 mins.
It actually went over the vodafone splash screen but only to halt on the windows mobile one.
The thing that puzzles me is that I didn't mess at all with the ROMS!!!
It's exactly as it comes from the box.
Any advice and help is more than welcome....
Thx in advance
A few more details
I've been trying to get my Hermes working.
That's what I found:
Taking away the battery for some mins and hard resetting brings me to the windows mobile screen then it hangs
The same procedure but soft resetting instead of pressing space actually let the phone start but then it hangs on the screen: "Tap the screen to configure ...." etc. etc.
Still trying to figure out what's happening.
Anyone with some ideas please help me. I don't want to play with the ROMS till it's strictly NECESSARY. I can't understand why it's stopped working.
Now it works...
Repeated the procedure, soft resetting instead of pressing space.
It went smoothly and run all the Vodafone customization programs.
Now it's off and charging.
Don't know yet what was the problem. Hope it's not a problem of stability.
I'm starting blaming myself for leaving my old Tungsten.
Does anyone experienced something similar? May depend on some particular operation?
Curious, but Hermes sometimes needs to settle down. Suggest you try the following to avoid hangs/freezes as well:

I think it's the well known freeze problem...
My Hermes worked fine for a while. Then I synced it and installed Magic Button. Everything looked perfect. I left it for a while and when I came back it was off and it won't go back on. Soft resetting just causes a freeze on startup.
I guess it's some problem with activesync. I tried the fake server but I'm not sure I didi it properly. I'll try again once I wake my Hermes back up.
Hope to solve this, otherwise it's almost unusable.
It keeps freezing...
I'm getting really worried.
After some hours of normal use I experienced the "won't wake up" problem.
The strange thing is that soft reset doesn't solve the problem. Neither does the hard reset.
When I tried to soft reset it went to the bootloader page.
I need to remove the battery for about 20 mins and try a hard reset.
Sometimes it works with space reboot, sometimes it need the soft reset restart.
Then it freeze after some time.
When it doesn't work it freeze on the vodafone splash screen after showing the version numbers at the bottom of the screen.
I'm quite puzzled.
It's a brand new V1605 with S/N HT645.
Maybe that's more than an issue on it.
Any chance to improve this with a ROM upgrade?
As your device is brand new with the its original ROM, I would take it back to the store you purchased it and ask for a replacement.
They should swap it for you right away.
Not so easy..
I'd like but I bought it from ebay.
It's a brand new Vodafone UK VPA1605, but i don't think I'm eligible for any assitance (even paying) here in Italy, even if Vodafone Italy sells the same PDA.
Now I'm not even able to start it. It keeps freezing on the vodafone splash screen.
I tried several hard and soft reset (even removing the battery for 1/2 hour or so). What I cannot understand is why it's so unpredictable? It's electronics.
It should just work or doesn't work, till you change something (software or hardware).
my prophet always give me this headache. it will auto restart (soft reset) or auto off. it's not always, but when it does, it will be quite frequent. for example, sometimes when i put it in my pant (keylocked the device) it will auto off. even when i hang it on my belt, it too will have the same problem.
no matter it is in WM5 or WM6, it's the same. i don't think that it's the software i installed because even though after i hard reset it, the problem is still there. for instance, only this morning, it auto off/soft reset for 5 times. anyone have this problem?
I have exactly the same problem. I made upgrade new roms, new ipl/spl, my radio don't want to upgrade. It reboots by itself during the qtek logo, during the splashscreen of WM and even at the first config screen. Anyone for help plz?
(Sorry for my poor English )
keep your battery dismentaled from the phone for 24hrs and then restart it again it should work fine....
it worked for me so i guess it would work for u too...
It doesn't solve the problem. My own can't boot up to WM. It reboots during the boot sequence. I thought it was the IPL/SPL but with upgrade it didn't work too. Any idea, as crazy as possible is welcome
Hi guys, been reading the forums for some time now but my first post since i think i've briked my device lol, today i decided to give the omapclock a go, and found a clock speed of 240mhz (read other threads saying it was fine, and i also made sure it was functioning right.. then decided to register the speed using the updated version....
then when i reset my wizard it just hangs on the wm5 screen, the radio rom seems to load as i can hear it via the speakers on my pc... question is, is it recoverable?? its not been modded i.e its got the factory rom on it and radio, and i can get into bootloader mode okay with USB support... can i interface with it somehow, might be a good hance to try wm6, however i think its briked and not holind much hope..
can someone please advise?
s/unbrickable/debrickable/
have you tried hard reset?
yes tried holding down the power button, pulling out the battery etc
doesn't sound like hard reset to me, try holding the comm&voice_dialing buttons while "poking" the reset hole
says booting in safe mode but still hangs
by comms and dialling button do you mean the green answer phone?
thank you so much the hard reset worked, was quite awkward figuring out how to hard reset lol
no problem, now you can go back to breaking stuff
yup going to try an upgrade to wm6 now, wish me luck!
Hi,
Yesterday, I had to do one of those ubiquitous soft resets we always have to do with Windows Mobile... but instead of getting a soft reset, my trinity totally hard reset itself! (and no, I didn't touch any buttons while pressing the stick in there)
I profited from the occasion of losing some of my data (backup was a couple of weeks ago) to upgrade the ROM. That all went fine until yesterday evening, when I did a soft reset with the stick and got a hard reset AGAIN!
Does anyone know where this can come from? How to fix this annoying problem?!
Thanks!
Daniel

Hi Daniel,
I had the same exact problem with certain Roms...
Just don't know if it can be hardware problem, but try using the original HTC rom for a while to make sure everything's OK.
Best regards
Hi
My trinityis sufferng from the same problem, and it's getting progressively worse. From it originally happening once every few weeks, I can now re-flash and it will hard reset as soon as a day later (usually once i've re-installed everything...)
I've tried lots of different and reportedly stable ROMs, the latest being FlixNOver and an excellent German WWE Manilla 2D one floating around whos name i forget.
I am now assuming my trinity is dying, with a hardware related issue.
What is puzzling is that information previously written to the phone often remains and is acessible after then hard-reset. If this was Windows XP I'd suggest the Hard Drive was was corrupting and Windows was losing it's profile.
Anyone any ideas?
