In the process of trying to activesync via BT I have messed-up BT on my XDA mini S. Now I can only send data from my PC and not from my XDA. When I check Com Ports in Bluetooth options on the XDA there is only New Incoming Port, there is no New Outgoing Port. I have deleted the device (My PC) from Devices and tried to make a new partnership but I have the same problem.
By the way, I am trying to activesync via BT because it wil not work via USB.
Any ideas?

Hi, I just can't make the activesync over bluetooth work with my laptop (widcomm) and my magician (qtek s100).
the devices are paired enough, and I can see the serial port on the phone from the laptop, but when active sync starts to search for the connection, it loses the connection (the serial port is listed as not connected in the "my bt places").
Any tips/hints? Is something wrong on one of the machines? I will try to see if I can test with some other devices...

You can skip the step on installing and using the BT Tools.
cheers
Thanks, but that doesn't work for me...
I can pair allright, but I am unable to sync...
have you updated to the latest ROM for your s100? I noticed after updating my JAM that I do not need BTH tools anymore to activesync over BT.
Hi
have an O2 XDA II Mini (Magician) and I am using an XMicro Dongle on my laptop (Win XP with SP2....I am using the in built Microsoft BT stack which comes with SP2) and ActiveSync3.8. Initially syncing with BT was a problem but now its not a problem at all.
First you have to make sure that the COM port nos. selected by ActiveSync are less than 10 bcoz there is some bug due to which ActiveSync will not support COM ports above COM9.
To reduce the COM port nos. on your computer try the following website
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315539
Once you can see the hidden devices and ports delete/uninstall all the ports which are not in use.
To ActiveSync.....the following steps might help....
1 To sync with BT first delete all your pairing with your computer and phone on both devices.
2 Go to BT Manager on your phone and click both check boxes for Inbound and Outbound COM ports and pair the devices.
3 Once they are paired go to BT manager (on the phone) again and click on the start button (for BT ActiveSync setup) and pair the devices again if you have to.
4 Once that is done make sure that on the computer in BT Settings the the Serial Port Profile (SPP) "Serial Port COM4" is checked.Click on the phone device>property>services.
5 After that on the computer's BT Manager itself ensure that the COM ports folder shows incoming and outgoing ports with the phone's name in front.
6 Open ActiveSync (on the computer) ensure that the COM port no. is the same as the Incoming COM port no. given in step 5 above and it being shown as available. Sometimes if it is unavailable, the computer needs to be rebooted and then it will be shown as available.
7 Click on ActiveSync thru BT on the phone and it should work.
8 Whenever you wanna disconnect ActiveSync press stop on the compouter to disconnect.
It has been working for me since the past couple of weeks. Initially it took a lot of time to set up but now even if the pairing gets deleted or something messes up its working fine.
One thing to remember is that in case you are using a dongle with a laptop ensure that the dongle is plugged in BEFORE you boot up the laptop. A lot of people plug it in later and then ActiveSync on the computer shows the COM ports as unavailable.
I hope this helps.
All the best!
I've flashed my device with WM2005 yesterdag, and I love it. I don't have any problems yet with unmapped buttons, USB Activesync etc.
But I do have some problems with Bluetooth Activesync. It doesn't work whatever I do.
I've installed ActiveSync 4.0 latest build, and USB sync'n works fine.
I've deleted the partership, and paired the device with my Sitecom Bluetooth USB adapter.
My WM2005 tells me that I've 3 available services (Headset, Serial Port and Dailup Networking). I've selected all of them except Headset. Than I started Activesync on my device and selected Connect via Bluetooth; After that I'm told there are no bluetooth partnerships with a PC that supports Activesync. And I'm asked to set up a partnership.
I did again, deleted the complete partnership on both pc and device; recreated the partnership and tried again. Same problem. After that I manually created incomming and outgoing comports which resulted in the same problems.
The strange thing is, that I see the comport service shortly in my Bluetooth Places but than disappears.
Can someone help me to get Activesync via Bluetooth working?
Having installed my BT USB dongle after I installed Activesync on my PC, I didnt have the Connection settings in my PC's BT Settings. after setting up the partnership, AS on the JJ would always say i needed to setup a partnership again.
Baffled me for weeks, but today I fixed it, and its very simple to do....
Code:
In your PC's BT settings find the Local Services BT Serial Port, note the com port, in my case COM5.
In AS on the pc make sure the "Allow connections to one of the following" is checked and set to the same com port as the BT serial settings.
Thats it!!! no incomming or outgoing ports needed on the JJ, just go into AS and goto menu and hit connect via bluetooth, off it went and sync'd up, no questions asked.
This is very pleasing to me and I can now fix my work lappy aswell, which is where this will be really useful.
Yes yes it works. I was spending 2 mins connecting over BT every time i wanted to use AS.
Thanks.
i do it but nothing of nothing
THANKS A MILL!
after many days trying to get this to work, i finally got it nailed, keep up the good work guys
Big problem with Activesync by Bluetooth on JasJar
Hi,
I have already read more forum on this question.
I have e problem trying to connect by bluetooth to ActiveSync.
When I pair my JasJar to PC not appear the service ActiveSync, but Serial Port.
Therefore ActiveSync, on JJ, can't connect to my PC.
I have already configure ActiveSync on PC to connect on right Com port.
Please help me, i have lost some night to try it.
will someone please help me in configuring active sync over bluetooth..
i want to connect my jasjar with my pc over bluetooth.
when i search in the bluetooth of my jasjar the computer is shown in the devices but in the service there is no activesync
Hi I was puzzled with this the other day. I found that if you open ActiveSync and click Menu then Connect via Bluetooth. It worked fine then.
Hope this helps

Before you can connect, you need to make sure your PC has a bluetooth com port. Then in ActiveSync, enable connection via that com port.
Once that's done, you can use the connect via bluetooth on activesync on your ppc, and you can choose your pc.
Hello everyone,
i am using mobile center in vista and i haven't got any idea, how to connect my S110 via bluetooth with my PC.
I already added and paired magician, but when i select "Connect via bluetooth" option in device, after seconds it tells me:
"Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. The communications port is not available. Another program may be using the port, or it may not be valid.
Quit any programs that may be using the port and reconnect. If the problem persists, restart your device using instructions provided by the manufacturer."
I am using WIDCOMM stack in PC, and there is COM8 in Properties of my magician. I think there is problem with COM ports numbering, because in magician are Bluetooth options where I have Outbound (COM5) and Inboud (COM4) port.
Any idea how to fix and succsfully connect and sync my device via bluetooth?
Thanks a lot for every usefull answers!!!
Okay, so I didnĀ“t stop playing with it and found a solution!!
1. Windows Mobile Device Center connection is set to accept Bluetooth connections.
2. In device in bluetooth options are checked Incoming and Outgoing COM port.
3. Remove and again pair device.
4. On device select Connect via Bluetooth and here it is!
I dont know if it works for someone else, but I hoper helps.
Have a nice day
