ich sprieg kien doilch!!! Neeeeeed Help - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

So I now this is a very old topic but i'm trying to change my mini from german to English, I downloaded the english software and now what???
Please somebody try to help me as ditailed as posible.
Cheers!!

Now you send me some money & I will have a very nice Christmas with a new device
Ok now serious:
- download maupgradeut_noid from the ftp & put it in an empty dir.
- unzip the english shipped-rom to the same dir.
- make a backup of everything you want to keep from your magician
- connect via usb
- execute the maupgradeut_noid twice
first execute produces an error, second should finish like an ordinary shipped-rom upgrade.
When you see the new splash after the hard-reset: smile & enjoy your english device.
Cheers, m

Converting German to English for German T-Mobile MDA Compact

I've seen a bit on this site about converting a UK T-Mobile MDA Compact to newer english versions but not for the German T-Mobile MDA Compact. As a novice to this stuff I have three questions:
1) Is it the same procedure for my German T-Mobile MDA Compact as it is for the UK version?
2) Can anyone please give me the link to the newest download for the files I need? (not sure I have it)
3) this is what I plan to do (see instructions below) - got it from JFRAN at www.modaco.com's website. It seems that I need both the rom and this maupgradeut_noid file... I'm not sure I've found the most recent rom file and I havent seen the file maupgrade file with the exact same name on the ftp site here... I've already asked for a link to the most update file, but can someone confirm these directions look ok?
Thanks.
From Jfran at: http://www.modaco.com/New_JAM_rom_from_iMate-t206571.html
Any of the experts willing to put a step by step guide to installing the 1.11 . i have a T mobile MDA , and it all seems so complicated . I am bricking it that I will end up with a dead device .
Tricky stuff, but can be done.
If you are able to get hold of the imate rom, you will need to extract its files and install the upgrade executable file.... esay isnt it
Ok here it goes
1. Download the Rom file
2. Right click and extract to a named folder
3. You should end up with about 6 individual files; ms.nb1, radio.nb1, nk.nb1 ruu.conf, ruu.dll, enterbl, getdevicedata and maupgradeut, the maupgradeut is the file that runs the upgrade if you were an imate user, however as a MDA user you need to get hold of the maupgradeut_noid file which could be obtained over the net or from the xda developers site.
4. Once you have this maup....noid file you will need to add this to the folder created above as this is the file needed to initiate the upgrade.
5. In activesync, click on file and connection settings and untick the USB connection.
6. Connect the phone to the USB, and run the maupdateut_noid,
7. The upgrade wizard wil start, go through a few checks then eventually come up with the coutry Id error.
8. Run the maupgradeut_noid file again and this time it should allow you to run the wizard.
9. The process should then go through 3 stages which should last about 10 - 15 minutes.
10. When finished you should get the upgrade successful notification and a promt to reset the device
11. Hope that helps.
German MDA Compact to English with latest JamWWE Rom
Hi There
I have recently undergone this excercise on a new German MDA Compact and after undergoing lots of reading here and trying a few things. I have decided to contribute this back to the community.
Note ensure you have a backup of your original ROM and your contacts and personal data in case of errors etc There are quite a few posts covering this in the forum.
1. Download the zip file at ftp link ftp://xda:[email protected]ers.com/Uploads/Magician/ and select the JamROM_111.132WWE_noID_mod.zip file
2. Download, Unzip and extract to a named folder for instance c:\imate
3. You should end up with about 6 individual files; ms.nb1, radio.nb1, nk.nb1 ruu.conf, ruu.dll, enterbl, getdevicedata and ROMUpgradeUt (this is the MAUpgradeUT_Noid file renamed so there is no need to download anything extra):
for info the maupgradeut is the file that runs the upgrade if you were an iMate user, however as a MDA user you need to get hold of the maupgradeut_noid file which could be obtained over the net or from the XDA developers site.
5. In ActiveSync, click on file and connection settings and untick the USB connection.(Very Important)
6. Connect the phone to the USB and turn the phone into bootloader mode (Camera & Power and Soft reset)
7. Run RomupgradeUt from c:\imate folder
7. The upgrade wizard will start, go through a few checks and proceed with the upgrade (normally you would eventually come up with the country ID error)
8. The process should then go through 3 stages which should last about 15 - 20 minutes.
9. Lastly do a soft reset and you should see your MDA German compact with a new WWE (WorldWide English) ROM
10. In ActiveSync, click on file and connection settings and tick the USB connection so that you can see the device for ActiveSync. Plug in USB and perform yor sync and start the process of moving your data and programs across.
I do hope this helps!
PS I was think of compiling a short illustrated guide taking a lead from some Spanish posts on this matter, let me know what you think.
Excellent! Thanks so much - now have an english MDA!!! And I like the update better too! Definitely like the new color of the number pad
Had a little problem getting to USB mode when I did a hard boot... had to do it a second time after it was already connected and hold the reset for longer... but otherwise all was perfectly clear.
Thanks again!
I love you people
Oh Man, excellent instructions, excellent file, excellent, excellent. I have a T-mobile MDA compact with a Chinese Version of the Pocket PC. downloaded the Jam ROM, installed it. work like a charm. Thanks for the advice, instruction and files.
Hi,
I just went into ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Magician/ and it is empty? has it been moved as I would like to follow the proceedure and update my MDA as well.
Many Thanks
The ftp gets re-organised from what I have seen
Goto the ftp site Magician folder, shipped roms folder
Download rom of choice preferably the latest WWE revision, ensure you have the MAUpgradeUT tool this will ignore the country ID error.
And follow the standard install instructions in the previous posts
Have fun
German to English Rom
Many Thanks, but one question I have seen in other strings that the ROM is 250Mg this one is a lot smaller?
German to English for MDA
OK Fantastic, I now found the ROM followed the instructions above and now have a great English device
Thanks to all that helped me....
PLEASE HELP (FAILURE DURING INSTALATION OF NEW ENGLISH ROM)
Please somenone help me!
A try according to your manuals to change rom from german to english and during the instalallation the blue screen on my computer appeared and it restarted.. My MDA has only tvo words on its display: above Usp and bellow v1.02 . It doesnt work... How can I now finish installation, bescause actvS can not connect phone with my computer... It looks like it's dead...please help...
Don't worry, you in bootloader now. Just run the maupgradeut_noid.exe & the upgrade will start. Might be that you need to uncheck the usb connection allowed in Act.Sync. You're Magician is far from dead in surely you can fix it either with a shipped or with the maupgradeut_noid or with sd flash.
So just relax & restart your executable.
Cheers, M

NEED to CHANGE GER ROM to WWE ROM

Okay, I bought a MDA Compact from T-Mobile 2 days ago, The Problems is that the Device is German and I Speak and Read English, Could someone walk me through to change it to English, I read so many tips and none work.
ROM-Version:1.12.2.21 GER
ROM-Datum: 11/14/05
Furmempfangerversion: 01.12.20
Protokool-Version: 4.0.13.23
ExtRom-Version: 1.12.02.106
Need to read some more, like this one:
'XDA mini (MDA compact) with German ROM to English ROM'
Basically you need a WWE shipped-rom & maupgradeut_noid.
unzip the shipped-rom, put maupgradeut_noid in the same dir. as the unzipped files. Connect your magician with usb & execute maupgradeut_noid twice.
Or go for an SD-flash.
Cheers, M
Thanks
I tried that and I get a error 103: ROM IMAGE File Not Found, Thanks for that, what is the way with SD-Flash? I''l try anything....
Ulymanchild
I think you didn't extract the ROM before using the maUpgradeUT_noId file...extract the EXT file with winrar adn then in the contents use maupgrade_noid
EXT File
Okay this is what I have
MDACompact_WWE_1.12.152 and MaUpgradeUt_noID I put this all in one folder and I tried to run and still the same ROM Image Error.
I have the MaUpgradeUt_noID with the GETDEVICEDATA and the ENTERBl and still nothing, could somebody walk me through like I was a child who was born yesterday. ;-(
I don't understand the EXT File thing either when I download all these stuff from XDA website I have them in zip and I just extract them normally with XP. What am I doing wrong?
It's not that difficult:
- Unzip NL_11300_131_11200.exe (or any other shipped rom) to a folder, so you get the maupgradeut.exe etc.
- Copy the getdevicedata.exe to your Magician and execute to write DeviceData.txt
to \Windows and view with notepad
- Hexedit header to correct ID from DeviceData.txt
(probably only if using a rom from other provider)
- put maupgradeut_noid.exe in the same folder as the devicedata.txt, maupgradeut.exe etc
- run maupgradeut_noid.exe to upgrade CE image
Regards, M
I meant EXE file and not EXT file......
I think MDACompact_WWE_1.12.152 is a single EXE file with an Install shield icon.....
you have to extract it to get the ROM files
to do that download WinRAR from www.rarlabs.com...install it...
after installing winrar if you right-click on MDACompact_WWE_1.12.152.exe you have an option for etracting...extract it to a folder....now copy MaUpgradeUt_noID.ext to this folder and execute it...now you won't get the error 103
For you information ROM files have the extension .nbf....you find .nbf files inside the extracted filder
Hope you get it
Thanks
Well I want to thank all for the advice but I tried step by step and try it again and nothing ROM ERROR 120 COUNTRY I will go by a SD-Flash and try it that way if that doesn't work owell I gues I will sell it and go to england and buy me one there,,,;-(
Did you run the maupgradeut_noid twice?
The SD flash will work, just as long as you copy the first 416bytes of your own rom to the new rom.
succes, M
Ulymanchild
Hey, before selling it, read this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade
This 120 country id error is easy to solve.
After you run the first time, just press "Exit" as the install wizard tell you.
After you exit from the wizard, run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe once more. This time you will not see the error again.
Hope you get it
Almost work
okay I tried what you said and I got as far as the what it's going to upgrade to put it losses the connection, what could be wrong, you gave me the best advice so far and I thank you.
I'm clueless on this point besides the usual 'try again'?
SD will work there's a nice 1.13 on the ftp -) mine) so you can always go for that approach.
Instructions:
- download the 1.13BS rom from the ftp
- get ntrw.exe & romugrade.exe from the ftp
- Download the Hexeditor from:
http://www.hhdsoftware.com/hexeditor.html
- get a SD-card > 64MB
- make backup of everything you want to keep from your magician & SD-card. everything will be wiped!!
- fully charge your magician
- uncheck usb connection in Act.sync on your PC
- put your magician in Bootloader (camera & power & soft-reset at the same time for a few seconds) wait till screen fades & reads 'serial v1.0x'. Screen is very dark since backlight is of.
- connect usb, now the screen reads 'usb v1.0x'
- start romupgrade on your pc
- pick the magician connection in the listbox, wces something I belief
- now a screen pops up
- type d2s in this screen
- follow progress on pc & magician
- wait till checksum finishes
- get SD from the magician & put it into a cardreader. DON'T FORMAT!!!
- put ntrw in C:\
- start a command window
- type on commandline: ntrw read myrom.nb1 [sd driveletter]:
- follow progress
- error at the end is normal
- make a copy of myrom.nb1
- open myrom.nb1 & the BS rom with the hexeditor & replace the first 416 Bytes of the BS rom with the first 416 bytes of myrom.nb1 & save it to mybs.nb1
- type on commandline: ntrw write mybs.nb1 [sd driveletter]:
error at the end is normal
- put the SD in your magician
- now it should read 'press power to flash'
- press the power button
- watch it reaches 100% - checksum will always fail
- reset & hopefully enjoy the new rom
Cheers, M
Back Error
I tried to back up my rom with romupdate.exe and when I try to pick USB it does not work only thing that showes is com2 com4 I also unchecked USB Connection on ActiveSynce and it still doesn't work so what the hell, okay I will pay some one to help me I will call the person and have them walk me thru!!!!
HELP
Seems like there's something fishy with your USB connection or your device. Best thing is to find someone nearby who has done it before & use his/her equipment .
Guess you're not getting it to work by talking through.
Terribly sorry, M
Could it Be
I just found out that my device is a HTC Charmer the new one that came out in December and it does not work like magician...So I have to try something else
You lucky bastard,
There is progress in that field. So keep looking.
Cheers, M
Can I try the first procedure OLTP described in the begining
I have a Qtek S110 with a French ROM and I need the English version.
I have downloaded MagicianRadio_1.13.00_maupgrade and Qtek_WWE_1.13 from the ftp site. Are there any special precautions I have to be aware of?
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards,
Sidi
Make a backup of your existing rom, in case you might want to fall-back for warranty issues etc. & a separate copy of the ext-rom cabs in case of provider settings etc.
& make a back-up of all pim data as everything will be lost & programs need to be reinstalled. Don't forget to mark your provider settings for gprs access, they're usually located in one of the ext-rom cab-files. You can write them down too.
For the rest it is fairly simple, connect usb & execute the maupgradeut_noid twice.
regards, M

2. Make a hard reset of your device
3. Reconnect your device via ActiveXync (You can use guest partnership)
4. Run the downloaded exe file an follow the instructions.

Been a long time since these posts...
There's a workaround for your HP iPAQ hw6945 SERIAL/USB v.G 39 screen problem:
Disable ActiveSync, and install the GSM Radio Stack Firmware Upgrade sp35602 again, that was never mentioned in the instructions, but it sure worked, and my 6945 is now back among the living

Wrong. The E9 is the 3432th byte... the file should start at FD

actually the 3432th byte is EC
=>if you cut 3431 bytes from beginning, the new file must start from EC

=>if you cut 3433 bytes from beginning, the new file must start from FD

this is the nbf file of WWE ROM of ipaq 914c from the hp site.
i'm confused,
don't know which 's right or wrong,
maybe i will try to patch the dll up update it but don't know where to start.

If take a look at the screenshots below, u'd see in the first what bit i looked up... and in the second u'll see what bit it exactly is if u need to cut 3432 first bytes u need to include that 3432th bit also....It might even be necessary to cut some bytes more letting the new file start at 00, cos if u look in the rightpane, u'll see that these 00 are placeholders for MSFLASH50.....

FIXED! Bricked iPaq 910 it's now alive!!!
Hi all,
I will post this solution on all forums I visited. I could be useful for some other desperate person who's ipaq 910 is bricked o that wants to change the language of the device.
I consider myself a noob on this, I don't know how to support any other iPaqs, I don't know how if this will work on all iPaqs. I just fixed mine, I'm happy about it, and I feel I have to share this experience. Sorry if you have questions that I can't answer.
This process also works to change the language from anything else to English. I'm not sure if it will work 100% due to hardware diffferences, but it worked to change it from Spanish firmware (original one) to English WWE
First, I followed the procedure specified by Paloma on the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459123
Now, I will re-write the procedure created by Paloma, to a more clear version:
1- What's needed:
- iPaq 910
- Necessary software
- In case you want a different firmware, go to the HP site and download it. I just found the English one, I don't know is that available in other languages.I dowloaded the English WWE version.
- I used WIndows Vista SP1. It should work on Windows XP.
2- Decide which file you want to use:
- Download the necessary software from these links:
http://rapidshare.com/files/201661070/Fixed_bricked_iPaq_910_-_Change_device_language.zip

- If you want to use my file, go to Part 4, if you want to edit your own in your desired language, continue reading to edit the file.
3- Editing the downloaded file from HP site.
- Download the file from the HP site. The link I used was:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?
lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=3551665&prodNameId=3544441&swEnvOID=4036&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=hh-63897-1
- Execute the install. Notice that after installing, it will run the update utility.
Cancel it
- Go to the folder that the installer left the files, in my computer it was C:\iPAQ\SP40181, then you will notice that the file FLASH.NBF is there
- From the necessary software download, look for XVI32 and execute it, then open the file FLASH.NBF
- Click on the menu "XVIscript" then "Editor"
- In Editor, type: DEL 3432 then click on the "Execute" button
- It will ask you to save the script, it's not necessary
- Then Save the file as Flash.DIO.
4- Transfering the file FLASH.DIO to the iPaq
- Now that you have your Flash.DIO, either using my file, or the one you edited, you need to transfer it.
- From the necessary software package, go to DNW, open DNW.exe, [Configuration] => [Option], change [Download Address] from 0xc000000 to 0x3000000. You can keep the application open.
- Rename FLASH.DIO to FLASH.nb0
- Bring your Device to "Download image" mode. To do this, press the OK + VOLUME DOWN + Reset
NOTE: Please notice OK buton is the one below the track wheel, on the right side, not the one in the QWERTY keyboard.
- Plug your device to PC. I used Windows Vista drivers and I did not need to use other drivers. In case the drivers are needed for you, then manually select driver to install (files are in SEC folder, on DNW)
- Back to DNW application, click on menu on [USB Port] => [UBOOT] => [UBOOT] and select Flash.nb0. After this, you should start seeing a progress bar, indicating that the file is being transfered.
After the transfer is complete, the screen will display # signs for the progress while the firmware is installed. It takes a while. After it's finished, the iPaq will reboot and do a Clean Boot by itself. It takes a while again. After it's finished, it will start to boot and you will see the green Windows Mobile 6.1 boot screen.
I hope I made it easier for anyone out there. Give the credit to Paloma for providing this tool. At the end I just followed the instructions from the post, bricked my iPaq by using the wrong file, but now it's fixed and I changed the language
Great set of instructions - however, if you try to apply the updated ROM from HP, the file exits with the error stating your phone is FRA, and the update is WWE...?
