Everytime I do something it seems ActiveSync keeps turning on. I don't want it to. Anyone know how to keep it from starting up when connecting to GPRS or Wifi? I'm talking about it being on my K-Jam...not the laptop.
Thanks,
Tom
Try the follwing: Open Active Sync (on your Wizard) tap menu-server, add a server name ( just make one up), tap next, leave everyting empty and tap advanced, don't change the boxes and tap next, uncheck all the boxes and tap finish. tap menu again, tap schedule, set both boxes to manual. then close activeSync. The program will not load itself automatically again. for me this worked, hope it does for you too.
I have tried, but next time the device did not syncronized via USB (Activesync 4.1).
Hmm, can you go to menu-options and then see which categories are checked under Windows PC? those categories will be synced with your pc, perhaps they are unchecked as well? Only the categories under Exchange Server should be unchecked...My sync with AS 4.0 works fine.

ActiveSync via Bluetooth
Go to Settings->System->Bluetoothsettings
Tap on start->check on
Tap on bonded devices -> delete your paired device
Tap New to pair again
Tap on the found device and tap next
Enter your pin on both sides
Tap on Finish
You should now get a dialog box with a message like " Bluetooth Activesync setup complete!" (don't know it in German)
Tap OK
Tap OK gain
Tap OK again
Tap start -> ActiveSync -> Tap Tools -> Tap Connect via Bluetooth
And watch your desktop bluetooth program for messages. From now it should work like a charm.

i dont get this dialog active sync complete it just show me the pcname at bottom of the new button.
I found out, that BT Sync just work if i play around with the connections settings! QTEK: Start>Settings>connection>connection>advanced>network and create new bluetooth connection for both entrys even if iWM dont keep the BT comfiruration saved. But after doing this BT-Sync worked for me. Maybe doing this force Windows Mobile to start or activate somethink that allow BT-Sync to work.
Hello,
On my I-Mate JAM I only seem to have one Bluetooth port available? Is this correct (see attached shots)?
Incidentally, I can't seem to get ActiveSync to work over BT anymore - I'm wondering whether it's related to this or not? ActiveSync with BT worked at first but ActiveSync will only work over USB now. :?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
you should define the com port on you Pc on local services under advaced configuraions on your bluetooth. Then use the sma port on your I-Mate

SMA port?
I've just tried the following:-
* Setup an incoming port on my PC
* In ActiveSync connection settings, selected that port as the serial cable port.
* Created a partnership using my I-Mate to find the PC.
I just keep getting the message below, even though it's setup on my PC. :?
Even if I try deleting the partnership and recreating it after this message I have no luck. :x
What could be wrong? Cheers!
Try this:
I forgot where I found it, but I make a copy on my pc.
To the author, forgive me to post here without your permission, but my intention is to help another.

1)On your PC go to the Control Panel and select "Bluetooth". In the "Options" tab, make sure all the ticks are on. You'll now see a little bluetooth icon on your system tray. Makes it easier to access in the future. Your PC should also be ready to be found as long as you ticked the fist box in the step above.
2)On your Jam, Go to Start, Settings, System (Tab), Bluetooth Settings. On the screen that comes up you ONLY want to hit start. Leave the incoming and outgoing checkboxes OFF!!!
3)You will now be taken to the partnership screen, where you just follow the instructions to add your PC. Follow through until you hit finish. Close everything down until you're back at the today screen.
4)Back to your PC, double click on the Bluetooth icon in your system tray. Go to "Com Ports" (Tab) and click "Add". Choose incoming. A You'll see an incoming port added to the list (probably be the only item there). It should look like "COM X Incoming"
Remember what number is after COM. Close all windows, making sure you hit OK or Apply where you have to.
5)Open Active Sync on your PC. Hit File, Connection Settings. Enable the first tick, and select the COM port you had to remember in the previous step. Hit OK
6)Open Active Sync on your Jam. Choose Tools, Connect Via Bluetooth.

I hope above help!

Thanks, Artosoft. That's got me so far. The device gets past the "User Authenticated" stage with ActiveSync opening on the PC, but the sync doesn't actually occur, it disconnects at that stage.
Any ideas? Thanks again.

Try soft reset your ppc maybe...?
Regards,
Arto.
Just sitting in a restaurant, no wifi, not connected in anyway to anywhere.. and the Activesync shows up ?!?!? Writing the correct last time I synced my device (which was this morning at home). WTF is this?
go to activesync app on the ppc
create a server source
enter a totally fictitious name and address
follow the wizard, dont select any items to sync
set the period to sync as manual for both
finish the wizard
open the options
delete the new server source
the default setting is to auto start and sync, by creating the fictitious entry it allows you to change those settings
deleting the server source retains the sync period settings

Simon,
I have done this numerous times when I had the O2 ROM. Now I have the IMate ROM, it works if I am not connected to anything, so that is good, for that is what I want. One thing I notice when I am connected through WIFI, active sync application on my Exec still opens up on the background. Are you having the same experiences with this setup or am I missing a setting here?
my active sync doesnt auto start AS at all anymore if i set the server source to sync manually, then delete the server source.
i use wifi a lot and it also doesnt start it.
there could be other reasons such as programs you have that auto update from the web when wifi is running, eg SPB weather. again, i set this to update manually.
what other programs do you have that require or use an AS or WIFI connection?

I think you are right. I forgot about Pocket Weather's update settings. Thanks.
I have the following requirement and would like some advice:
I have two PCs - one for work and one for personal use at home. My HD is connected directly and constantly with microsoft exchange server of my company, so using push mail I have all my mail, contacts etc. totally synced with my office.
I would also like to be able to sync the calendar and contacts info (not emails), with my home PC, which obviously does not have the certificates etc. required by my company. My home PC runs Vista. When I first connected my HD to Vista, it created a new partnership, along to the Microsoft Exchange one but it did not exchange any data.
I hope I described the issue clearly. Is there any way I can do it?
I would suggest you delete (end) the partnership woth your home PC, then reconnect. When setting up the new connection, untick the box next to "email". That should be a straight forward back up.
You might also like to tell the home PC that the mobile device is the updated one, and it should not over-write any duplicates.
Hope this helps!
Thank you - just one question, how do I tell the home PC that the mobile device is the update one?
My mistake, it's a mobile setting, not a PC one.
Before you're connected On your mobile go to Activesync then select Menu>Options and click on "home PC" or whatever you named it and tap "settings".
There's a drop box saying "If there is a conflict:" and change it to "keep the item on my device". This way your work PC's contacts, calendar etc will be themaster and any changes won't be affected from home.
This works for me and hope it helps.
Hi TP2-ers!
Since using my TP2, ActiveSync continuously syncs it with my PC. When I used AS with my old PDA (QTEK 2020i) I could select manual sync, but this doesn't seem to be possible when connecting a WM6 device.
I tried all the tricks (changing registry entries Continuously Update and Update on docking to 0), the exchange server trick to enable the AS schedule button and setting it to manually, all to no avail...
I know of tools like ActiveSync Toggle, but I do not want to disable AS, I just want to sync manually when I think it's time to sync!
Has anybody out there been able to disable the autosync in AS in combination with the TP2?
Thank you very much for your reply in advance!
Kind regards,
Piet
Open ActiveSync on your phone, then click on MENU on the bottom right, then select SCHEDULE and set both peak and off peak to MANUAL. After that it won't sync unless you go in and sync it yourself.
Connect to PC
What about when the "Connect to PC" screen appears when you plug it in via USB? For a week or so if I didn't touch the phone it would disappear and Internet Sharing would open and automatically connect! it was awesome, but now the ActiveSync bubble is selected and it opens ActiveSync on my PC. Are there any registry values to reset this?
So open ActiveSync on the phone again, select MENU at the bottom right, select CONNECTIONS, and uncheck "Synchronize all PCs using this connection"
=)

Nope, all that does is go directly into the "Disk Drive" option....It used to open Internet Sharing and connect automatically. I even removed my SD card and it just charges the phone.
Have you tried to end the partnership between your phone and your computer from within the ActiveSync software on your computer? That should do it as well.

First, I really appreciate your help...now, let's make sure we are on the same page. I don't have a problem using internet sharing, that works fine. My issue is that I want the internet sharing program to start on my phone automatically whenever I connect to pc.
Oh, hilarious, I've been responding to you assuming you were the person who posted the original post. I've been trying to resolve his issue, not yours. Oops. As for your internet sharing issue, no idea. I use WMWifirouter for my WIFI and wired network sharing, and it works GREAT, though I do have to click the program icon before it fires up.
SUCCESS!!!
ok, so I went into the battery properties and unchecked the "when device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to the pc" This reset whatever I was looking for and now when I connect to pc via usb and don't touch anything it automatically starts internet sharing and connects. LOVE IT!!!

The schedule option is grayed-out.
It's also grayed-out on the PC and you can enable it through the old fake server trick, but although it's set to manually, ActiveSync still syncs continously...
Thansk!

No, because I don't want to disable sync, I just want to be able to contol the moment of syncing!
