Hi all,
I bought my MDA Compact a month and a half ago but have noticed some really annoying issues with it.
I have set the phone to turn off if I dont use it for more than 1 minute to save battery. even so i should still be able to receive msgs and calls. well I dont, they go straight to voicemail. I cant make calls either properly when i turn it back on.
also, if i have it on and havent used it for a while (20 mins or so) then i cant make a call, it just freezes. it seems like a problem with the software (comparable to a PC freezup)...
but i dont understand why it stops receiving calls and msgs when it has full signal
here are my ROM details, maybe I need to get a new ROM? or should I take it back to the shop? I got it as an upgrade on T-Mobile so I imagine they won't give me much help.
Thanks guys,
-Neil.

I Had the same problem, Updating the ROM version solved it.
hi,
i took it to the T-mobile shop I purchased it from and they said it was quite a usual problem. they will send it to get fixed under warranty and if need be will replace it with a new one. only problem is that it will be gone for 3-4 weeks... :-(
yes seems like a software issue in the end though... hope it works when it comes back!
cheers

Does anybody have the following problem, I have the phone in my pocket and nobody can call me as it goes straight to voicemail. I then find out and try to make a call or send a text and the phone just keeps saying 'dialling...' then doensn't start to ring.
Is there any solution to this, this is the second Vario I have had and the only software installed is TomTom V5.1
Yes, I have the same problem. Qtek 9100. No extra software installed. Had it since day 1, though it took me a few days to figure out what was going on.
The radio part of the device basically gets hung. The icons all still show things as ok, signal strength is there, etc. though I don't think the signal strength varies anymore. Likewise, GPRS is hung up and mail, etc. isn't being checked anymore.
You can *sometimes* bring the phone back to life by switching into flight mode, then switching back out of it, but sometimes that fails too and you get hung in a weird state where some screens think you are in flight mode, but you can't switch out of it.
A reboot fixes it till the next time it silently and mysteriously flakes out for no apparent reason. Very frustrating, and in fact why I was browsing around the net looking for fixes or at least better workarounds tonight.
Stock Q-tek 9100
Rom 1.1.7.5
Rom date 9/22/05
Radio version 01.01.10
Protocol version 4.0.13.16
ExtROM version 1.1.7.105
I first thought it may be IE but then I tried using my wizard as a modem and it had the same effect - reboot.
On some occasions when I use IE it actually falls into a never ending reboot cycle. Last time I had to remove the battery AND SIM, boot up, shut down, install the SIM and again and reboot to make it work again.
Some history.
I have the Cingular 8125 version of the wizard. I recently upgraded to WM6 (XDA Mobile 6). It worked fine for a few days. The only SW I installed was Google Maps and a Sudoku program.
Then the rebooting happened.
I went back to the WM5 original ROM which didn't help.
I am now back to WM6. If I don't use the Internet, it works fine, i.e. phone function, text messages, etc.
Funnily enough even syncing with exchange seems to be working (but it uses the Internet, doesn't it???)
When I connect to the Internet via IE or using the phone as a modem it reboots after a while (minute or so)
Any ideas why? Any suggestions on tests, fixes, etc.?
Thanks!

I have this EXACT same problem. did you ever figure it out? in the meantime i have already ordered a new battery...
Gave up...
No, I'm afraid not. I gave up on the Wizard and dug out an old Blackberry I had stored away in a box somewhere..
I didn't buy a new battery - I figured I would rather save the money and go for a better phone further down the road (more CPU, WM6 pre-installed, etc.)
Please let me know if the new battery solves the problem.
Thx!
The definitely sounds like a battery problem. If you've had your device for about a year or more, it's time to change the battery.
Here is how the problem manifests. The battery appears to charge, but it really doesn't hold the charge. Consequently, any high-drain activity (such as data transfer) will cause a "brown out," cause the device to reset, and will probably cause the device to enter a reset loop because the battery has an insufficient charge to complete the reboot process.
To test this, try the device while plugged into a charger. If the device works witehout a hitch' then you know the problem is the battery.
The good news is that an OEM battery is US$10 on ebay.
Do not order one from Megacapacity.com or Ecapacity on ebay. I have been waiting for 3 weeks now . It was only 10.50 with free shipping Now my 8125 keeps resetting, I'm back to my first love SMT5600 8925 any week now
Battery for under $4
I just ordered one off Amazon for under $4. With shipping it is still under $10. No matter what it should work better than my current battery...

Hi all
I am new to this forum. And recently a problem puzzled me. My mobile phone is softbank x01ht. rom version is QSX2.1 and radio version is 1.54.07.00. Sometimes phone can't dial in and out however the signal display is full. It occurs often these days. when i turn off power and on, it returned to normal. Any one can help?
still wait the answer!
sounds like yer radio is going going going.............gone
but today it works well. I don't know when this problem will happen next time.
Hope never happen!
Hi,
Having an ongoing problem with my tytn / Hermes - Vodafone V1605.
20% to 30% of the time, I try to answer calls with either the green answer button or the soft button [answer] key and I can't answer the call. The call eventually goes to Voicemail.
I can get rid of the problem by powering down or pressing the reset key, but the problem reappears in a day or so.
The problem seems to be worse in the following situations:
- When I haven't terminated running programs - especially Internet
- When I have Data sessions running or checking intermittantly
- When using 3G data.
- When in areas of patchy coverage
- When battery is run down (far too often)
I have tried everything I can to isolate the problem further, but with no luck.
This is a great phone in theory but I can't tolerate losing 20-30% of calls.
I can live with the other problems with the product such as poor battery life and occasional hanging application, once it's not the PHONE application!
I'd really appreciate any help with this as I'd like to keep this phone going, but am close to chucking it
We bought two of these phones for our company and both phones have the same problem. I have since sent one back and got a replacement which was flashed with a dopod image - but the problem is still on the replacement phone.
Rom Version: 3.54.707.3
Rom Date: 7/5/07
Radio Version: 1.47.00.10

This problem is visible with no additional software loaded - as was out of the box.
Have you got any phone locking software in situ, e.g S2U2 or pinlock engaged? If yes you can sometimes have the symptoms you refer to.
Take off all locks and see how you get on.
WB
Hi,
Thanks for getting back, but no, I have no additional software installed.
What's surprising me is that it's happening on 3 seperate handsets used by 2 different users.
I'd always thought that it seemed related to sluggish OS performance when some other applications were hogging memory or processor usage and that there would be some obvious workaround or a registry hack.
Thanks.
You could try getting a replacement sim from Vodafone and see if that works. Long shot, simply thinking of solutions.
