Does anybody have the following problem, I have the phone in my pocket and nobody can call me as it goes straight to voicemail. I then find out and try to make a call or send a text and the phone just keeps saying 'dialling...' then doensn't start to ring.
Is there any solution to this, this is the second Vario I have had and the only software installed is TomTom V5.1
Yes, I have the same problem. Qtek 9100. No extra software installed. Had it since day 1, though it took me a few days to figure out what was going on.
The radio part of the device basically gets hung. The icons all still show things as ok, signal strength is there, etc. though I don't think the signal strength varies anymore. Likewise, GPRS is hung up and mail, etc. isn't being checked anymore.
You can *sometimes* bring the phone back to life by switching into flight mode, then switching back out of it, but sometimes that fails too and you get hung in a weird state where some screens think you are in flight mode, but you can't switch out of it.
A reboot fixes it till the next time it silently and mysteriously flakes out for no apparent reason. Very frustrating, and in fact why I was browsing around the net looking for fixes or at least better workarounds tonight.
Stock Q-tek 9100
Rom 1.1.7.5
Rom date 9/22/05
Radio version 01.01.10
Protocol version 4.0.13.16

Hi,
On my XDAII (1.72) I sometimes experience a not responding phone/SMS application or radio stack.
People trying to call me are instantly redirected to the voicemail, and if I try to make eiter a call or send a text message, respectively the phone application is stalling or the SMS 'Send' button stays in the 'pressed' state.
Soft-resetting the phone or toggling the 'turn off radio' function re-establishes the radio.
Does anyone knows of a solution?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated and possibly rewarded with a 6-pack Heineken beer
weird, mines just done the same thing. I sent an sms and nothing. I was then taken to the phone screen and it said something like invalid sim something.
I'm wondering if the sim card is not locked in place. I was fiddling around with mine yesterday and maybe forgot to lock the sim card in place.
Just a thought but maybe worth checking
what radio version do you have ? I recently have the problem that when people call me, the ringtone goes for about 2 seconds, then restarts, etc.
Meanwhile I can do nothing ( green button don't work) . When the caller hangs up my phone returns to the normal state.
I use radio 1.18. Thinking of downgrading to 1.17 which people say is more stable.

ah.....
Hello folks,
I have the same problem now for a week... It's driving me crazy... At
some point in time during the night or the day my Qtek2020 gets weird.
The result is that people trying to call me can't connect but to viocemail,
and I can't receive SMS. The only way I can see that I am having this
problem is that whenever I try to send a SMS I get a message "your SMS
cannot be sent", and if I try to make a call, the phone seems to dial out
normally the first second, but then the DIAL-button (which is color-less)
becomes green again...
Please, if someone knows what's wrong or if someone had the same
problem and solved without having to default the whole thing, please
let me know what is the solution.. It is really annoying, so I now have
to randomly reset my phone throughout the day.
PS: my battery is now on 4% so I have to look for my charger, and
after that I can supply with info about radio-version etc. I am running
WM2003 by the way, and I've had no problems like this before, this
unit has been working fine until now. I guess it's a sw-bug? And I
am also wondering if this problem occurs whenever I pass a place
with low signal.. hmm, it's so annoying..
Thanks for any help!
Fred
I've been having problems similar to the OP for 2-3 weeks now (found this thread in a search before posting). It's damned annoying, as it means you can't really trust your phone - am I meant to reset every morning, or more frequently? It seems an intermittent problem, in so far as I've been receiving and making calls as normal, and then you someone asks 'did you get my text?'. Gritting teeth, you call the phone from a landline to find that calls are going straight to voicemail. After a soft reset all missing texts are received immediately, and calls can again be received.
When in this state other PDA functions seem to work as normal. However, I suspect that the power display is "suspended" too. On performing a soft reset after experiencing this problem today, I immediately got "your battery is extremely low", whereas before the reset I recall it was around 50% (vBar image). As others have stated, one clue that not all is well is that sent texts do not get a "Message sent" confirmation.
I've been racking my brains as to what's changed recently on my PDA. For family reasons I've been making a lot more calls than usual, but I also added TomTom Navigator 5 a couple of months ago, and so have started intermittently using BT. But I don't use Sat Nav that frequently, and this problem seems more prevalent.
I'm conscious that I don't have latest and greatest ROM, etc, but am vary about attempting upgrades without strong reasons.
Has anyone seen and solved this issue?
Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the sim card? After a while dust and general wear and tear can mess them up. Also as it's obviously(?) a phone problem it might be beneficial to call your service provider for a new sim card.
That's what I had to do last week. Wish you the best anyway.
It can't have anything to with the sim card as I'm having this problem with a brand new sim card.
After I picked up the MDA I noticed that occasionally, while attempting an EDGE connection, the radio would appear to reset. Signal bars would disappear and the dots under the antenna would appear. The data connection would never take place and as far as I could tell the radio reset. This occurred several times in the course of a day. So did a hard reset on the phone which I hadn't done since picking it up. Now the symptom appears to have changed. Instead of it appearing to reset, it appears to "stick". Indicated signal strength never changes, the data connection is never actually made and eventually I turn the radio off and back on again via flight mode. Again, this only seems to happen while attempting a data connection, either EDGE or GPRS.
I've written Tmo support but I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else or if it may be a problem with my specific phone. And never having had a problem like this before, should I take the phone back to the store and ask for a replacement or do I need to hear that from Tmo?
Thanks!
I have a Cingular 8125 on TMO network and have the basically the same problem. GPRS/EDGE would occasionally stop working. Once it begins to "hang", I would notice the radio icon lose the bars and the dots would appear. However, It would reset on its own after a minute or two. This happens a number of times a day. Annoying the crap outta me.
The MDA ships with an older version of the radio rom. Maybe it would help if you updated it.

yeah, that's the one. I'll see what Tmo has to say, I'm sure as hell not flashing a phone that's days old and well within the warranty period. In the off chance it's software, I did another hard reset and prevented it from installing the extrom stuff.
update: Customer support asked me to try another SIM, which I did. When that didn't help, they told me to bring it back and they'd give me another one. Hopefully that'll be the end of it.
hi,
have the same problem. I just "loose" the signal and it searches, searches .... and again. SR or flight mode on/off usually helps. but its really getting annoying. I have feeling it is in places where there is a weak signal (but just opinio, not a proven fact). Sometimes happens, sometimes not at all. Dont know what to do about it.
I've noticed the same with the Cingular 8125 on Cingular's network. The radio version is 1.09.11. I am wondering if the later radio version would make a difference?

I upgraded the Radio rom on my 8125 to 1.13.10. I *think* it helped, but to be honest, it still happens. I also now, as a habit, turn off GPRS by pressing the red button for 5 seconds. This seems to help a bit too.
It's really a crapshoot. There are times when I can stay connected to GPRS for hours and hours, while other days i would get kicked within minutes. When the 2.8.7.102 rom is officially released, I will load that in hopes of fixing this problem.
I've had this same problem for months no matter device I use. At first I thought it was because I was using non T-mobile branded phones, but since using devices like the T809 as a modem and the MDA I get the same problem, edge/gprs would connect and stop working/hang after while. Most likely its a network issue, and this didn't start happening to me until T-mobile released edge data service. I'm actually a sales rep for tmo and haven't heard anything from tech support.
I've not had it happen with 1.12.10 (I think) - NOT the 1.13 version, but the one before it. Flashed it the other day - perfect since. The stock T-Mo radio ROM did it once in a while, usually in a poor signal area.
Old Problem
This happened on my Treo 600 on T-Mobile. The problem seems to be city-specific, so it happened in Pasadena frequently but not in DC.
hi, i just got the tmobile MDA and everything works perfect, i dont seem to have the problem of the GPRS, the only problem i have is that the sound of the phone is too low. any suggestions?
P.S. whats the website to download updates and softwares for it?
thanks

Yep, that was my experience exactly, I haven't had a problem even once since flashing 1.12. Thought about trying 1.13 but didn't want to push my luck. The phone seems to be 100% now.
I've been seeing some weird behavior with my 8125 over the
last week. I'm on the Cingular network, and I bought it from them.
The phone will simply miss calls, in areas where I really should have
coverage and where things were fine two weeks ago. No notification
of the missed call - it just doesn't make it to the phone. This seems to
happen to about 1/3 of the incoming calls, and of course I can't
reproduce it at will.
At the same time, often when hitting the power button to turn back on the
phone after one of these misses, I will see an "unable to run program"
message for some internal utility program. The program in question
changes each time - I have yet to see a repeat. Sometimes there is a
number of these dialogues.
Memory seems to be fine whenever I check it, including after one of these dialogs.
Uninstalling a small game from the SD seemed to help this problem, but I
can't say for sure.
I am running Summiter's 2.3 ROM. However, I installed that a month
ago, so I don't think that is the problem. I have put in various reg tweaks
from www.htcwizard.net, including adding a cache of 4K. Here's the
startup:
IPL 2.17
SPL 2.17
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.17.7.2
Any hints as to what could be going wrong would be greatly appreciated - thanks!
I have a G4 T-mobile Vario (Wizard) that doesn't want to perform any of its "phone" functions. i.e. no calls in/out or text messages etc. The phone itself is on and is showing a full signal but when you try make a call it will start dialing and almost instantaneously hang up again, occasionally with some beeps to imply the call has failed. Has anybody come across anything similar? As far as I know the unit hasn't taken any knocks and all other functions are working okay.
Any help would be appreciated
*Update* Even the GPRS works! I don't understand!
similar problem
im almost having the same problem, mine goes from full bars to zero and back again while the cpu stays at 100% with no signal, yet somehow i can still get edge and connect to the net?
Have you tried flashing to a later radio version, like 2.71? It may solve your problems
ive tried 4 different radio versions.. it seems to me that the software that runs (service?) on the phone at startup that enables it to make voice calls keeps crashing and restarting and ive tried this on 5 different roms too and same result, it usually takes 5 - 10 soft resets, but it pops up and sometimes keeps crashing indefinitely and sometimes it eventually connects.. any ideas?

phone is blacklisted. imei banned
imei blacklisted?
Hi,
I am having the same problem as the first poster of this thread.
My phone is a T-Mobile Vario
SPL 2.021.0001
IPL 2.021.0001
Radio 02.19.11
Protocol version 4.1.13.09
Rom version 2.21.2.6 WWE
Rom Date 3/9/06
Basically, I have what appears to be full signal strength. I make a phone call and it says "dialing" then immediately says "Call Ended" with a 00.00 time for the call.
If the imei is blacklisted is there any way I can get it un-listed?
Or is there some other fix I can use to get it working?
Regards,
John
What is a Blacklistet IMEI? Is it a stolen Device?
G4 with no phone ability
Hi,
Still have the problem posted in my earlier post.
I have tried to contact T-Mobile here in the UK using the "contact us" page, rang the numbers - nothing!!! Their phone system does not work.
They have a phone number listed where you supposedly can register your phone as lost or stolen so they can blacklist it, but the phone number does not work! If you are on T-Mobile you supposedly can phone them using 150 but that doesn't work either! So I can't phone them to ask if my imei number is on their list and if so how I go about getting it removed.
(I bought the phone off e-bay last week, and guess what? The seller hasn't responded to my e-mails asking if he ever made any phone calls using this phone!)
So at present I have a semi BRICK, the PDA part works perfectly well, just the problem with the phone bit.
If anybody has any ideas about what I could / should do next regarding the phone, I would like to hear them!
Regards,
John
Have you tried flashing to a new ROM? Its unlikely that it will work, but perhaps it will solve your problem.
Hi,
Having an ongoing problem with my tytn / Hermes - Vodafone V1605.
20% to 30% of the time, I try to answer calls with either the green answer button or the soft button [answer] key and I can't answer the call. The call eventually goes to Voicemail.
I can get rid of the problem by powering down or pressing the reset key, but the problem reappears in a day or so.
The problem seems to be worse in the following situations:
- When I haven't terminated running programs - especially Internet
- When I have Data sessions running or checking intermittantly
- When using 3G data.
- When in areas of patchy coverage
- When battery is run down (far too often)
I have tried everything I can to isolate the problem further, but with no luck.
This is a great phone in theory but I can't tolerate losing 20-30% of calls.
I can live with the other problems with the product such as poor battery life and occasional hanging application, once it's not the PHONE application!
I'd really appreciate any help with this as I'd like to keep this phone going, but am close to chucking it
We bought two of these phones for our company and both phones have the same problem. I have since sent one back and got a replacement which was flashed with a dopod image - but the problem is still on the replacement phone.
Rom Version: 3.54.707.3
Rom Date: 7/5/07
Radio Version: 1.47.00.10
Protocol Version: 32.80.7020.20H
This problem is visible with no additional software loaded - as was out of the box.
Have you got any phone locking software in situ, e.g S2U2 or pinlock engaged? If yes you can sometimes have the symptoms you refer to.
Take off all locks and see how you get on.
WB
Hi,
Thanks for getting back, but no, I have no additional software installed.
What's surprising me is that it's happening on 3 seperate handsets used by 2 different users.
I'd always thought that it seemed related to sluggish OS performance when some other applications were hogging memory or processor usage and that there would be some obvious workaround or a registry hack.
Thanks.
You could try getting a replacement sim from Vodafone and see if that works. Long shot, simply thinking of solutions.
