HotSync & ActiveSync 4 on the same PC - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

I'm having problem to sync my devices (Treo 650 & iMate JasJar) to the same PC. Each time I try to sync one of these devices, the given device connects to the first BT serial port service defined in BT manager on the PC (Widcom BT stack) whatever the service it is. To be more specific, if I create virtual BT COM5 as a HotSync service and the COM9 as a ActiveSync, both devices try to connect to HotSync (the first BT COM port available). I have also an iPAQ hx4700 and it works ok. I haven't had any problem to sync with ActiveSync 3.8 as well. Anyone with the same problem?
Also I'm having problem to sync some of reoccuring Outlook appointments to the JasJar devices. The are simply ignored by ActiveSync 4. Anyone?

Bluetooth Activesync with Jam & Xp Sp2?

Has anyone managed to activesync the Jam via bt, with xp service pack2 (that needs no drivers for bt)? I have tried a lot, and followed some guides on the internet, but nothing done yet I have a german mda compact, with englidh imate tom 1.03.
Maybe this helps :wink: MOD EDIT: Personalised URL link removed
that's what i have done, but when i press activesync via bluetooth, it sais that cannot connect to this port, because is already in use or not valid
Tonight i have 2 setup all the stuff again because i reinstalled my compu. I'll check if everything in the tutorial is ok... :wink: (I'm almost sure there some wrong things in it :? )
ok thanks
I also have no success with ActiveSync / Bluetooth / WinXP-SP2
Bluetooth works although. Using the WinXP SP2 bluetooth icon (bottom right next to the clock), I can 'Send A File' to the MDA. The file nicely ends up in 'My Documents' in the MDA.
So, Bluetooth on the WinXP-SP2 and MDA machines both work.
But, ActiveSync, no way. Activesync on the pc just does not want to detect the MDA. I already changed the BT com ports to 4 and 5 because I read somewhere ActiveSync only accepts ports from 1 up to 9.
Is there somebody who actually got WinXP-SP2 and the MDA working with Activesync?
i found this, but i have not tried it yet. i will try at noon.

what a french forum? great! lol
Works fine for me.
Set up a COM port on your computer, then selecdt that port in ActiveSync. Pair the two devices to create a Bluetooth link. Then run ActiveSync->Tools->Connect via Bluetooth... on your Magician.
Skip
Works fine for me 2. So the issue is not SP2. It has more to do with your Bluetooth or ActiveSync configuration I think. Can you pair the devices to start with?
Same here, works perfect on Windows XP SP2 using the previous 3.7.1 and the new 3.8 ActiveSync on bluetooth.
I had gone through much pain with the Widcomm (not sure about spelling anymore) driver installed but without any success in getting my Dopod818 activesync to work.
So I uninstalled it, and let WinXP SP2 detect the USB BT device again and download by itself the SP2 driver. Then followed the steps in Benjamin's MDA Howto article above (with the only exceptions being that you don't need to set the incoming and outgoing serials as com4 and com5 on your PC), now my Dopod818 is activesyncing with my PC flawlessly.
I tried everything both with Widcomm and Microsoft bluetooth
I think the problem is related with my MDA Compact. When I go to ActiveSync on MDA and choose connnect via bluetooth - it does not give any connection message. With IRDA or USB it says "Connecting to host". Probably something wrong with MDA setup. I have T-Mobile English WWE 1.01.00, ROM version - I'l try to upgrade to newer ROM and then check

I had a hard time configuring ActiveSync to work through Bluetooth but it finally worked (with XP SP2 and not with Widcomm). I think the trick when using XP SP2 bluetooth stack is in the bluetooth pairing process (which is skipped in the Benjamin's guide).
The problem I think is that when the two devices are paired (the MDA and the PC) the MDA does not recognize the SPP (serial port profile) service of the PC and it does not assign the “Bluetooth Outbound com port” to the SPP service of the PC.
The steps that worked for me are the following:
1) Delete the device pairing from both the PC and the MDA (if you have
done the pairing before).
2) At the MDA go to Settings -> System -> Bluetooth settings and make sure the Outbound COM port checkbox is checked.
3) At the PC: open Bluetooth settings, go to COM ports, and add an incoming port (press the Add button and select incoming - nothing more).
(I call this port COM7 but it could be any other com port that your system assigns to the added port)
4) At the PC: add a new Bluetooth device (start the wizard) and follow the normal steps to pair the PC with the MDA. The MDA will notify you of the new paired device - press OK - do nothing special.
4) At the PC's ActiveSyc connection settings select the proper com port (COM7: the incoming com port created at step 3 above).
5) Run on the MDA the ActiveSyct and select the Connect via Bluetooth...
hope it works
My understanding (although I just got my first Pocket PCs) of the connection process is the following:
The ActiveSync on the MDA opens the "bluetooth outbound com port" (COM5) when you select the "Connect via Bluetooth".
This port must be assigned to a SPP (serial port profile) service of another bluetooth device (in our case the SPP service offered by the PC with the XP SP2 bluetooth stack. Note that the SPP service on the PC is connected to a com port (COM7 in my case)). If the Outbound com port (COM5) on the MDA is not assigned to a remote device then you get that error saying ActiveSyct can not open the port (when you try to Connect via Bluetooth)
Assuming that the MDA's COM5 is assigned to the PC's SPP service, when opening MDA's COM5 ActiveSync gets connected to the com port (COM7) on the PC.
On the other side, the ActiveSync on the PC is set to use COM7 as a connection port and it detectes the connection which is now opened.
The MDA's "bluetooth incoming com port" (COM4) as well as the bluetooth "Outgoing" com port created on the PC seams to play no role in the hole process.
atsois.
just wanna say i got it working with ms drivers and a very cheap bt dongle!
similar to atsois and leskip methods...
i setup the incoming com port in bluetooth settings and assigned activesync to that port BEFORE any pairing took place
i tried pairing from the PC, but no luck.. but when I paired from the phone, it worked!
excellent, thanks for all the help!
Before Activesync 3.8, mine would only work one time per reboot of the desktop PC. After installing Activesync 3.8, Bluetooth Activesync works everytime!

Thank you. I couldn´t make it work, but then I tried to pair the devices from the MDA - and it worked fine!

WM2005 Bluetooth Activesync issue

I've flashed my device with WM2005 yesterdag, and I love it. I don't have any problems yet with unmapped buttons, USB Activesync etc.
But I do have some problems with Bluetooth Activesync. It doesn't work whatever I do.
I've installed ActiveSync 4.0 latest build, and USB sync'n works fine.
I've deleted the partership, and paired the device with my Sitecom Bluetooth USB adapter.
My WM2005 tells me that I've 3 available services (Headset, Serial Port and Dailup Networking). I've selected all of them except Headset. Than I started Activesync on my device and selected Connect via Bluetooth; After that I'm told there are no bluetooth partnerships with a PC that supports Activesync. And I'm asked to set up a partnership.
I did again, deleted the complete partnership on both pc and device; recreated the partnership and tried again. Same problem. After that I manually created incomming and outgoing comports which resulted in the same problems.
The strange thing is, that I see the comport service shortly in my Bluetooth Places but than disappears.
Can someone help me to get Activesync via Bluetooth working?

BT ActiveSync Dies Up In Half A Second.

hi...
I was able to use ActiveSync Via Bluetooth just perfectly before I had to hard reset (some other reasons for hard reset) now ive created a new partnership and when ever I try to Sync Via Bluetooth it says user authenticated and connected and then just drops the connection an says not connected, connection stays on for hardly one second.
I am using Xda II WM2003SE, Microsoft BT Stack on Pda,Blue Soleil Connection Manager 1.6.1.2, Billionton BT Dongle, Windows Xp Sp 2, Microsoft Active Sync 3.8
P.S Windows Builtin Firewall Is Disabled. No Other Firewalls Installed. Microsoft BT Stack Is Not Installed On The Comp I Believe.
Any Suggestions ?
Thanks In Advance.

On my computer and Universal, I find it easy to setup BT Active Sync if I activate the setup on the Universal first using active sync app. There is an option within the active sync app to sync via BT. The computer will then recognize the device and will ask you if you want to pair it. On the other hand, if I try to pair them beginning with my computer to search for the Universal, after pairing and ticking all necessary boxes, it still won't sync.
After pairing and ticking all necessary boxes. Make sure you reset BOTH your computer and the Universal.
The problem is that when I pair my Universal to PC, not appear the service "ActiveSync", but "Serial Port".
I've already tried to delete everything and reinstall bluetooth pen, with his drivers and with windows drivers, and ActiveSync too.
I've also deleted all pairs and all port on Universal.
But I've not obtained any result.
I don't know what to make.
Can someone help me?
Please.
Nobody has had my same problem?
Any idea, please?
I had the same problem until I upgraded from Toshiba BT stack to Wildcomm BT Drivers stack (4.0.1.700).
Things I have learned:
- If UNI is connected via USB then AS service will not show in device pairing on PPC.
- You need to create an incoming COM port on PC and set AS to allow connections to this port.

I haven't change the bletooth stack.
Until some week it makes worked regularly, but an evening, I was configuring my Laptop to use the JJ like BT modem, when the AciveSync service has begun not to recognize more like such, but like “Serial Port”.
I've already tried to delete everything and reinstall bluetooth pen, with his drivers and with windows drivers, and ActiveSync too.
I've also deleted all pairs and all port on Universal.
But I've not obtained any result.
Yesterday, I have tried the synchronization with an other PC with a fresh installation of windows, but the result has been the same one.
Therefore the problem is on JJ, even in the registry.
I don't know what to make.
Please, can someone help me?

Please help me...
Don't know if this will help and I claim no credit because this solution was written in some other threads. For the universal with a Toshiba bluetooth on your PC:
first, pair your Universal with your PC, you get "serial"
On your PC, create the following "bluetooth local com" (Control panel)
- COM7 Toshiba BT Port (COM7) LocalCOM-Server[SerialPort(TOSHIBA LOcalCOM)]
- COM6 Toshiba BT Port (COM6) LocalCOM-Client
In your activesync, allow connection to COM7
Now comes the fun part. On your universal, go to your bluetooth settings, devices, edit your device and press "Refresh", possibly more than once. Serial Port will change to ActiveSync.
It worked for me.
Eric
Also got to the control panel on PC and delete the bluetooth modem that was created. When u add a new incoming port on PC make sure it's not COM8 because that is used by JJ for USB modem connections.
same on treo 750v
I have the exact same problem on my Palm treo 750v. Searched the whole internet for a solution and found some other people with the same problem but no resolution. The only recommendation that seems to work is to do a hard-reset.
The problem started on my device after I played around with the Soft GPS port. It seems that it screwed up some COM port references for good...
I had the same problem on my notebook with Toshiba's BT drivers. I uninstalled them and connected an external USB BT which fired up the MS default BT stack.
After I completed the pairing using Bluetooth Devices (in control panel) and clicking Add in the devices tab, I used the COM Ports tab and added an incoming port and copied the number of this com port in the AS connection settings.
Now, I initiated the AS over BT from the Jasjar and it said something like "it cannot find the service or whatever and would you like to create one". I clicked yes, when it took me to the list of paired devices. From here I did what leblan has also noted "your device and press "Refresh", possibly more than once. Serial Port will change to ActiveSync." I too found that the serial port changed to ActiveSync. The key, IMHO is to hit that "Refresh" button; i.e. once your device and PC are paired and connected, going to the BT devices and editing (press & hold)the device name (the notebook or PC in this case) you will get the services which will initially say serial port, but when you click refresh, it will change to AS.
jj activesync via microsoft bluetooth stack
both from PC and JJ :
delete eventually existing pair between them;
from PC:
if there isn't create a local service COM port. I created COM8 not protected, automatic start;
from PC activesync:
remove flag both for USB and other connections;
from JJ activesync:
try to connect, it ask for pairing, reply yes;
In "mode" flag on turn on bluetooth & make this device visible;
search for new devices, when PC has discovered complete the pairing;
after paired, you can see a serial port and other PC's services;
stay there;
from PC activesync:
now turn flag on other connections setting COM8;
from JJ:
refresh and You can see that serial port begin activesync;
tip OK for close all bluetooth setting windows, You are redirected in activesync.
enjoy start to sync
15hours of crying and knocking the device. i've successfully fixed it...
i did this (credits to google)..
Delete all paired bluetooth devices from PC and from MOBILE.
CAUTION - USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK <--- I used a registry editor for the mobile phone (google for regeditSTG2) and opened the Branch "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\ActiveSync" There might be a Key with a hex-String like this "0016cxxxxxx" --> delete it. Change the View to display the values in this Registry Branch, then delete the "LastConnected" Value and set the "Initialized" value to "0"
Turn bluetooth OFF>ON
Pair from PC
Confirm on DEVICE (dont need to select anything just enter code and press OK)
Go START->Active Sync->Connect via Bluetooth
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Voilla worked for me..
hope this helps someone else

connecting 2020 via bluetooth in activesync

i'm using ivt corporate bluesoleil and qtek 2020 wm5
can't connect via bluetooth
neeeeeeed help plz
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=2417
i said ivt corporate bluesoleil
plz post specific directions
dont know the software you can try to look at the other guides for bluetooth they got on their site
or try the general thing with making a virtuel bluetooth comport and use that for activesync
or try to update the bluetooth software on the pc
...
Hi,
got the same problem with that ugly bluesoleil bluetooth stack; cause I'm running WM6 I had the choice of Com0-Com9, but that bluesoleil stack only delivers com-ports starting from Com11. The Windows Bluetooth stack wasn't available.
Workarounds didn't work. At last I got two correspondending COM Ports but the Connection with Activesync was disabled after a short while.
So I will buy another Bluetooth stick which uses Windows or Widcomm Bluetooth Stack.
So long
HonkBB
I succed to connect via bluetooth with WM6. I use windcomm bluetooth donggle in my PC. When I install the driver,which came with the donggle, the problem begin. I cannot connect my Hima to the PC. Then I delete the driver from windcomm and use only the driver from windows XP sp2.
1. Turn on the bluetooh from your PDA so that your pc can recognize your hima
2. explore your bluetooth connection on your pc, make your incoming port, and remember the port which automatically provide by the pc.
3. Open your active sync from your pc, open the connectio setting. Checkbox the "allow connections to one of the following" anda chose the port that you have just made in steps 2. And press ok
4. Open active sync, and from menu press connect via bluetooth. If your device haven't paired yet, then the next step to make pairing as usual
5. After you finish pairing step, you are ready to sync via bluetooth
