Can anyone let me know of a place in Melbourne that will do repairs on an O2 XDA - I sent mine to Accord, but they woudn't repair it - out of warranty or something.
Alternatively, if anyone can give further help on the 1% battery issue for the wallaby, please let me know. YES, YES, I know its been 'covered' many times, and someone somewhere will undoubtedly tell me so, but I would like to know whether the machine is officially 'broken' if these methods don't work, or whethe there is some hope. In other words, is there anyone out there for whom these solutions don't work? I'm at the stage where I believe its the battery not functioning correctly, but am not really sure. I see there are only about 2-3 different methods on the group, with the others being replies about the methods not working.
I find it difficult to believe that the manufacturers don't appear to release an official guide to fixing the problem at it occurs so frequently. Mine occured when I plugged a USB cable into it - nothing more complecated than that!
Many thanks!

About a month ago, my XDA II suddenly had fluctuating signal wherein most of the time there was no signal. The problem worsened until there was no signal at all.
Globe Telecoms's official repair center (Brightpoint) tried replacing the antenna but the problem persisted (fluctuating signal). Now Birghtpoint is telling me I have to replace the entire board at a cost of P24,000!!!
I would think a simple repair job could be done since everything else works fine, except for the phone signal. I have come to depend very much on my XDA II for a lot of facets of my work, but I am in no way able to pay P24,000 to make it usable again. As such, I would appreciate very much anyone who could suggest knowledgeable repair centers here in the Philippines (Manila); or who could suggest how to repair the problem in case they've experienced it.
Looking forward to your responses.
Thank you.

Does anyone know of a repairer in the UK. The USB connector has come adrift. I've have sent 6 e-mails to HTC Europe with nothing but automated responses. I have phoned HTC 4 times, they DONOT return calls. I was given the details of Anova in Norwich - they DONOT answer the phone. The only other name I've come across was Apex laptops who have a bad reputation.
Any help welcome.
Try SBE they do some repairs, is it a T-Mobile version?
The USB coming lose is always non warranty fault so you are looking at about 80-100 pounds through SBE to repair it.

Hi, If you can get to York, there is a guy who works Saturdays and Wednesdays at a shop called Bulmers. Ask for 'Dave the phone man'
I have used him 3 times now for:
i)fixing a damaged mainboard component for the backlight on my Wizard.
ii) replacing a damaged charge/data connector on a XDA IIi
iii) fixing a low signal on XDA IIi
He is a great guy and is very reasonably priced. He does tend to be very busy though!
If you fancy having a go yourself, fluffcat1 can probably source any parts you need. He too, is very helpful.
Good Luck.
sbe suck. dont use them if you can help it.. they had my phone for over 6 weeks. were a nightmare to get hold of them and when i ever did, all they told me was they didnt know and they couldnt speak to the engineers!
as it happens i have had my phone back for a week and the backlight is no longer working on my kjam

hmm
Why not just try yourself?
I imagine it will be lead free solder used, so you will probably need a ceramic tip'ed soldering iron with a fine tip.
Maplin is your best bet, could get the whole lot for< £15.
Then try to find a disassembly guide for the wizard so as not to damage the casing.
Then just evaluate the damage and be really careful with the soldering iron!!
I dont know if this is a dumb idea, but why dont we contact the HTC support to ask about screen alignment ?
Here is one of the email contact that we can use :
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/cs_by_email.html
If we have a lot of people asking here, they should come up with a definitif answer, what is causing this screen alignment problem and do they aware of it or I dont know (I hope).
It is interesting to see their reaction.
Just an idea.
They are aware of the issue, they have been contacted by a lot of people and HTC is sending a 'canned' message to all users who ask about SA issues.
See their "official" answer here, under the "Response from HTC to screen alignment issues" section:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Problems
They just give out contact details of the nearest repair centre in order to have your device replaced or repaired.
Their policy has now changed. Faulty devices must be reported within 14 days for DOA to be established, otherwise it is just a repiar they will offer.

Yes, it is now part of their "canned email".
Edit - Sorry, make it 15 days for DOA.

Seeing as a repair is all that's required, that shouldn't be a great issue though
yea they mentioned this DOA policy in my mail
There are now procedures in place for fixing the Screen alignment issue with the TyTN devices. This is a hardware issue that we have identified and we are offering a replacement to owners of affected devices with three conditions.
1: The device must be returned with all accompanying accessories.
Everything that was in the box when you bought the device must be in the box when you return it. Any return must be in 'As bought' condition, which includes all packaging.
2: The device must be a Genuine HTC Badged device. This means that the device cannot be a Vodafone v1605, an O2 XDA Trion, a T-Mobile Vario II or any other device based on the TyTN, but that is not actually a TyTN. For these devices, you must contact the Network/Reseller for further advice on this issue.
3: The fault must be reported within 15 days of Proof of Purchase to meet the DOA policy.
If you meet these three provisions, you may contact your nearest repair centre to arrange the swap. Please place everything back into the original box and arrange to have the device picked up. It will then be tested to confirm that it has the problem, and then it will be swapped for a replacement unit.
If you are unable to return everything, or the device is more than 15 days old, you will be eligible for a repair under the warranty. For this also, you can contact your nearest repair centre to arrange this.

So I´m preparing to be without my phone for a couple of weeks and then get it back with same issues... am i ridicilous or is this what going to happen?
closetland, if you expect that the returned device will still have the alignment issue, that means even HTC could not fix it
Oh boy, I have not received my T-Mob Vario II NL that I ordered last week and I am HAPPY ! Because the longer they delay the delivery, more chance to have the latest build ... which I hope does not have this alignment issue *finger crossed*. At this moment, I am still enjoying my Magician.

They have, as many companies OFFICIAL and UNOFFICIAL position.
They have investors, marketing problems, they are new to direct consumer market
We have INTERNET, Forums, and it are our strongest instrument.
OFFICIALLY (on HTC Site) the eves doesn't TALK about the possibility to have screen aligment issue, neither on FAQ, non in any other part of the site.
They OFFICIALLY admit it ON on E-MAIL to single users to avoid problems with investors stock analist
UNOFFICIALLY on HTC wiki http://www.htcwiki.com/page/TyTN they explain the REAL situation (somewere else we discussed about relationship between HTC and HTCwiki)
The worst part is that we have to wait sometimes 15-20 days to have it fixed, spend some money and they OFFICIALLY doesn' admit anything and may be someone is still selling faulty devices
Please try to make it sound LOUD on internet, and they will change the marketing policy (fast repair, coutesy phone during repair, swapping faulty devices after 15 days) just if they will see the stock analist taking care of this BAD hardware release and also od this BAD marketing responce
(any company could have hardware problems, class A mercedes was an example, but the solution was in the Mercedes style and they INCREASE the value of the company)
the problem isn't the screen alignment , IS THE HTC RESPONCE the REAL PROBLEM!!!!!
hey guys, anyone had any experience with HTC customer support in the USA? does anyone have their number/contact information? i can't seem to find it anywhere.

thanks. screen alignment issue with tytn
HTC America won't help you... sorry!
seriously??? what do i need to do!
Assuming you've got a TyTN, first call the reseller you bought the phone from. They should be able to help set this up for you. If your device needs service, it will be handled by HTC Europe, which means you'll have to ship it to Germany...
The only exception I can think of to this rule right now would be an 8525 purchased from Cingular (in which case you'd deal directly with Cingular for service).
unfortunately i bought it off of ebay. i'll try emailing HTC USA, maybe they can point me in the right direction. thanks.
Alas, this is the risk you take when buying from eBay... you're totally on your own...
Best of luck, but I can tell you others have tried only to be given the proverbial "deer in the headlights over the phone" -- "what's a TyTN..."
Yikes...
thanks. here's hoping for the best. i'll post my findings heh.
I have had the same problem, the only way to solve this problem is to go through HTC Europe as TyTn is intended for the European market, and take my word for it HTC UK is one of the most useless CS I've run into so far. Frankly speaking they are the reason i wouldn't be buying another ****y HTC device. Have had enough after Jamin and TyTn, seriously they are ripping people off. Try symbian for a change. Anyway I think if you know anyone in Europe, you can send them the device and they can take the device in to a service center and get a replacement for you. In my case my online vendor was helpful enough to get the device repaired. HTC America will simply tell you to contact HTC Europe.
Hi,
I've bought my HTC Hero a few days ago.
I've any fix with my GPS (gmaps, copilotlive, GPS Test).
I don't understand why
Any ideas ??
Best regards
Sorry i dont understand the question.
Are you saying thos apps dont work on the hero?
or that the GPS doesn locate you?
Im guessing there is a stock rom and everything is factory on it?
If so and the GPS doesnt work. Try standing outside. On a clear day to see if it will locate you in google maps. If it doesnt then i think you may have a defective unit. If its new it should definately be under the HTC warranty
I mean the gps don't locate me with google maps or copilot in outside locations
Sounds like you have a faulty unit then. register it online ith HTC support and send it back stating what is wrong, youl get a new one within a couple of days.
i've explained my problem to the customer service, but they don't want to send me a new phone. I've send it to a reparation center...I don't undestand why they don't want to give me a new one
you should ask them why they don't send a new one, not us...
do you have an answer from the customer service that you can paste here?
sry dbl post
You can try updating to a different radio version, I know that when I just updated to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26, it gave me bad hspa signals and gps does not fix as fast.
I recommend using 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22 for your device, gave me the best for gps fixes since I was able to lock in under 5 seconds at my Han Ah Reum (korean food market with industrial architecture and concrete, which is difficult to even get cellphone signals at times).
Any Fix with Hero's GPS / Very bad HTC customer service
Thanks everybody for your answer.
kendong2 : I'm a french customer, and my english is not so good. I'll try to translate the answer : the want me send my phone to a reparation center. But i cant stay several days/week without my phone. Any explication why they don't want to change.
I've asked to explain my pb to a responsible, they told me he will call me back but any call since several hours.
I'm very very disapointed by the htc customer service.
princedwi : I don't want to break the warranty.
I've already purchased an htc hero pink to my wife with the same firmware, same operator, and any pb with the gps

I don't know about France, but in the UK it is the responsibility of person who sold you the goods to make good on any warranty. In addition, since the GPS has never worked, again in the UK you'd be perfectly within you rights to ask for a replacement or a refund because the good were faulty at point of sale.
I would have though that France would've had similar, if not stronger, consumer protection laws, and I assume that you didn't buy your phone direct from HTC, so why don't you go back to the seller?
Regards,
Dave
i am surprised.. you can not take it back to the place you purchased it... and have them replace it with a new one.
it is only a few days old..right?

Same in France and in any EU contry...European Union countrys have a minimum warranty policy of 15 days to get a new device and 2 year warranty on products above 50€.
Countrys can decide to have better warranty laws but never less then this.
