hi all ..first you are wonderful for creating this site
thanks for all information
My device is HTC made xda 1 which in Turkey sold by escort computer and they build their cooked rom 3.20.03 eng and radio version 3.25.00 900/1800 freq.
Other than rom ver. it is equal of qtek 1010 .
I want to upgrade rom to win2003 .. when I begin the upgrade by activesync my device automatically soft reset itself and on my pc activesync 3.7 ver. shut itself.
I ve tried 3 times but nothing changed . Can you help me please.
Try it with a lower version of ActiveSync. Like V3.5 or V3.6
Regards
Mark
If your current radio stack works ok I would suggest leaving it alone, if your connection to activesync is likely to fail I suggest you use sd card flashing, much more reliable. If you are upgrading radio stack over activesync and the connection fails, you may end up with a pda but no phone.
I have tired with activesync 3.5 but also my device soft restarts and connection broken.
How do I use wm2003 by my 128 mb sandik SD card. and install the wm2003 to it with bootloader.??
Please make me understand in detail....
Search the forum for "sd flash rom"
For example the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=3274&highlight=sd+rom+flash

I just tried WM2003 and came back to SER 1.2 without problems - I was told it's not possible without SD card. Am I so lucky?
Funny, I did the very same thing before reading it couldn't / shouldn't be done, makes me think though, what if it had all gone wrong!!!!!!
For those who have tried the WM2003, please advise me whether it's worth my risk (I'm still indecisive) :?
Just tried to upgrade from 1st version of WME2003 to the latest using the upgrade utility, no go. Goes into upgrade mode on PC & PPC, then progress bar screen on PPC goes to white, a few minutes later a error pop-up on PC telling me to reset & run utility again. When I do so same problem. I'm just curious what version on Activesync are you running & on OS on the Desktop
Thanks

Hey Erick,
I had the same problem with the 1st version of WM2003. I was unable to do the upgrade with the utility. It would seem like the version 4.00.01 of WM2003 is far more mature in terms of this sort of functionality. For example, ActiveSync would not connect with the device in standby. This is not the case in the new version of 2003 which goes to show that maybe some processes were not running.
Going by what I experienced with the older WM2003, I did not try an RUU flash to test if the newer version worked, but I won't be surprised if it does. I was running ActiveSync 3.7 with WinXP Pro.
Thanks Sheran. So I guess it's SD card time This is an ActiveSync problem not an OS problem? What do you think? SD card should work right?
The reason I'm suggesting ActiveSync is I am unable to use any ROM utility to flash any ROM version now, which I was able to do before i.e. SERv1.1.
I believe I had the previous version of ActiveSync back then & now ActiveSync freaks-out when I try to use the upgrade utility for any ROM.

I'm thinking this has more to do with the WM2003 1st version (3.04 build 13083) OS rather than your PC OS or even your ActiveSync. I think the reason some people can use the ROM Upgrade Utility is because they are running the newer version of WM2003 (Ver 4.00.01 build 13100) which seems to work well with ActiveSync.
Unfortunately if you install the older version, until I'm told otherwise, the only way to get out of it is to do an SD Card flash.
Thanks again Sheran I tend to use the SD method, wanted to not have to wait for two write processes. Oh well back to the tried and true method, for now 8)
I was running the newer version (build 13100)
Activesync 3.7, Windows XP Proffesional
I have upgarded long time back my Qtek to T-mobile test only ROM.
ROM version 4.00.21
ROM date 8/11/03
Radio version 4.210.00
protocol version 32S54
it is begomming very slow plus the reception of teh phone is so bad.
am trying to change teh ROM version but the system is giving me this error please help:
ERROR: GetDeviceData - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
cannot execute the remote communication program. please make sure that the usb/serial cable is properly connected
Tmobile ROMs can't be flashed through USB .. you have to use SD methode.
This slowness is a known bug in older WM2003 ROMs ... either to use a recent ROM like 4.01.16 or A30.09 .... or to install the fix named "clear_notify.exe" in your \windows\startup directory
Bad signal could be out of the RSU 4.21 ... depends on your network and the device type you can use a better RSU ... but it's a very risky action!!!
I have a sx56 and I recently updated the rom to 2003 via the kitchen. I now would like to update my radio stack. I don't have an active sync cable so i need to do it through my sd card. Is this possible? Can someone tell me the best RS to use. I also need directions on how to go about downloading and installing the new radio stack. Also is there any way to upgrade to 2003se without active sync. My phone info is as follows:
unlocked AT&T sx 56 used on t-mobile
pw10b1
ROM 4.01.16 ENG
Radio version A.33.02
protocal version 1.3.3
thanks
Why do you want to upgrade your RadioStack? If it´s all working, i would stay....
Anyway, on the FTP are some RadioStacks, that are designed to run directly on your device.
# Extract the downloaded ZIP-File and copy all files to the /Windows directory of your device.
# Copy the RSUpgrade.exe additional to the /windows/startup directory.
# Make an soft reset of your device.
Without ActiveSync, there is no possibility to upgrade to WM2003SE....
Stefan
Thanks for the quick reply. I don't get great signal strength on my phone and figured a new radiostack might help. But before I take chances upgrading, will a new radiostack help with signal strength?
It may help, but it must not.
You have to choose one of the 6.xx Radio Stacks.
If the upgrade fails, your phone might end as paper weight. That's the risc you have to handle with....
Stefan
DON'T TRY TO UPGRADE RADIO STACKS!!! DANGEROUS!!!
Guys, don't even think of it. Today I killed my wallaby. I had a radio 6.24.00 and I wasn't glad because of poor signal strength in places where other phones work great. I downloaded from xda ftp a radio stack upgrade soft to a version 6.25. Followed the instructions and started the procedure. On 60% it said do try again. I tryed and second time it stopped the procedure of upgrade at the very beginning. So, my phone doesn't work any more. I dont know what is that soft for if it kills the wallby phones. I wish I didn't do that.

Welcome to the forum Carlos.
First, a couple of pointers:
1) In the future please select more descriptive titles for your threads. Like "Problem after ROM update". It helps people who may know the solution to your problem to find your thread amongst many others.
2) Please do not write everything in bold font. It is better to reserve this for special occasions when you really need to emphasize something.
Now to your problem:
You need to give us some more details so we can help.
What ROM were you using to update your phone?
How far did the upgrade proceed?
What error message did you get?
Note that during update procedure the device will disconnect from ActiveSync and go in to bootloader. This is normal and you must NOT remove the cable or try to reset the device!

I've successfully upgraded my Qtek 9090 to WM6 Pro (5.2.16.20)
-
ROM version: 5.60.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/02/05
Radio version: 1.12.00
Protocol version: 1337.42
All works great, but still I can't connect to ActiveSync 4.5
When I put the Qtek 9090 on cradle it ask to install Activesync 4.5 or newer ... but I've installed (and reinstalled) this tool, downloaded directly from MS site.
I've also Updated all the components on PC (SO, Office, etc ..) with Microsoft Update. But still I've this problem.
Please, could you give me any help ?
Thanks in advance.

i got the same problem!
my 9090 says:
cannot open the connection usb, this connection is no longer valid ore exist, plz select a diffrent
it worked until now
Sorry, my English is bad. But I try to help because I had the same problem.
Which firewall is installed?
With the change of WM2003 on WM6 new rules must be allocated for ActiveSync.
Several ports (999, 5678 etc.) must be switched free or turn the firewall off for testing!
Simply turning off the network monitor at the Comodo Firewall.
Good luck!
Mathias
My Qtek 9090 ask for Activesync 4.5 or newer while connecting.
I have just tried with another PC with XP on board and a fresh copy of Activesync 4.5 - Same problem (ask for 4.5 or newer)
I'm quite sure the problem is on PDA.
I hope in some suggestion.
Thanks to all.

check\uncheck in USB to PC - Enable advanced network funkcionality try which one of them will work with your pc
RESOLVED !!! (Yeahhh)
The problem was on network properties of Qtek, when connected.
Right-click (in control-panel/network-connection) the Qtek entry / Then properties
- check only tcp/ip protocol and MS network services
- I've disabled bindings for VPN and packet-trace utility
Activesync 4.5 WORKS GREAT NOW
Have a nice WM6 upgrade.
