slow and bad connection - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

I have upgarded long time back my Qtek to T-mobile test only ROM.
ROM version 4.00.21
ROM date 8/11/03
Radio version 4.210.00
protocol version 32S54
it is begomming very slow plus the reception of teh phone is so bad.
am trying to change teh ROM version but the system is giving me this error please help:
ERROR: GetDeviceData - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
cannot execute the remote communication program. please make sure that the usb/serial cable is properly connected

Tmobile ROMs can't be flashed through USB .. you have to use SD methode.
This slowness is a known bug in older WM2003 ROMs ... either to use a recent ROM like 4.01.16 or A30.09 .... or to install the fix named "clear_notify.exe" in your \windows\startup directory
Bad signal could be out of the RSU 4.21 ... depends on your network and the device type you can use a better RSU ... but it's a very risky action!!!

Problems with new MDA2

ok, i just got a new mda2 from t-mobile (460eur for a non-simlocked version is a good deal, i think)...
of course, its in german so i wanted to flash it to english (like i did on my old mda1)...
but...there are some strange things...
of course, model is ph10a, but:
ROM version says 1.03.00 GER (date 09/25/03)
Radio version is 1.05.12
Protocol version is 1337.12
i've tried placing a new rom on a sd card, but cannot get it to boot - i simply cannot get bootloader to start...
and i've tried adaptrom, but that one (once the file signatures are ok) always complains with error: GetDeviceData - Unspeficied error
(if the mda2 is not properly connected, it says so - this error is after the usb connection is perfect)
any suggestions? i'm running out of ideas...

HELP!!! VERY URGENT

hi,
I've XDA I with RUU tmobile 4.0.1and RSU 4.21
I'm trying to return to original o2 rom
I've cooked from rom kitchen t-mobile 2003 ruu rom
When I launch exe file the pc give me this error:
"ERROR: GetDeviceData - An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
error getting devicedata"
and then
"ERROR 011: EXECUTE REMOTE COMMUNICATION PROGRAM ERROR. Cannot execute the remote communication program. Please make sure that the USB/Serial cable is properly connected."
I've try to put nb1 file on sd card with image tool but my device has bootloader 5.17 and it doesn't work!
As I've installed t-mobile 4.01, the phone part of the device doesn't work (I've accidentaly swith to 1900, my sim card support only 900/1800 and here in italy there's no 1900 net)
Anyone knows other methods to load ruu from sd or can help me to resolve activesync error?
So whats the reason for you wanting to downgrade, is it because your radio is no longer working?
If thats the case you just need to up/downgrade your radio stack, on
that note I suggest you upgrade to the Qtek 1010 Radio Stack.
The Qtek 1010 Radio Stack Upgrade can be found at:
http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/downloads/asiapacific.htm
Download Radio Upgrade File : RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG).exe
Note: Last time I checked the the above file came with both the ROM and Radio upgrade, so just use the one for the radio.
HTH
I had the same problems you did, without wanting to steal anyone's thunder, my thread here : http://xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3860 deals with those issues and points you to the threads where easy answers can be found. I also operate off 900/1800 and have the info in that thread on how to change back from 900/1900 to 900/1800. Let us know if there's anything there that gets you stumped.
Don't play with RUU unless someone who knows what they're really talking about advises that you should for good reason.

upgrading with activesync

hi all ..first you are wonderful for creating this site
thanks for all information
My device is HTC made xda 1 which in Turkey sold by escort computer and they build their cooked rom 3.20.03 eng and radio version 3.25.00 900/1800 freq.
Other than rom ver. it is equal of qtek 1010 .
I want to upgrade rom to win2003 .. when I begin the upgrade by activesync my device automatically soft reset itself and on my pc activesync 3.7 ver. shut itself.
I ve tried 3 times but nothing changed . Can you help me please.
Try it with a lower version of ActiveSync. Like V3.5 or V3.6
Regards
Mark
If your current radio stack works ok I would suggest leaving it alone, if your connection to activesync is likely to fail I suggest you use sd card flashing, much more reliable. If you are upgrading radio stack over activesync and the connection fails, you may end up with a pda but no phone.
I have tired with activesync 3.5 but also my device soft restarts and connection broken.
How do I use wm2003 by my 128 mb sandik SD card. and install the wm2003 to it with bootloader.??
Please make me understand in detail....
Search the forum for "sd flash rom"
For example the following link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=3274&highlight=sd+rom+flash

wallaby radio stack update

I have a sx56 and I recently updated the rom to 2003 via the kitchen. I now would like to update my radio stack. I don't have an active sync cable so i need to do it through my sd card. Is this possible? Can someone tell me the best RS to use. I also need directions on how to go about downloading and installing the new radio stack. Also is there any way to upgrade to 2003se without active sync. My phone info is as follows:
unlocked AT&T sx 56 used on t-mobile
pw10b1
ROM 4.01.16 ENG
Radio version A.33.02
protocal version 1.3.3
thanks
Why do you want to upgrade your RadioStack? If it´s all working, i would stay....
Anyway, on the FTP are some RadioStacks, that are designed to run directly on your device.
# Extract the downloaded ZIP-File and copy all files to the /Windows directory of your device.
# Copy the RSUpgrade.exe additional to the /windows/startup directory.
# Make an soft reset of your device.
Without ActiveSync, there is no possibility to upgrade to WM2003SE....
Stefan
Thanks for the quick reply. I don't get great signal strength on my phone and figured a new radiostack might help. But before I take chances upgrading, will a new radiostack help with signal strength?
It may help, but it must not.
You have to choose one of the 6.xx Radio Stacks.
If the upgrade fails, your phone might end as paper weight. That's the risc you have to handle with....
Stefan
DON'T TRY TO UPGRADE RADIO STACKS!!! DANGEROUS!!!
Guys, don't even think of it. Today I killed my wallaby. I had a radio 6.24.00 and I wasn't glad because of poor signal strength in places where other phones work great. I downloaded from xda ftp a radio stack upgrade soft to a version 6.25. Followed the instructions and started the procedure. On 60% it said do try again. I tryed and second time it stopped the procedure of upgrade at the very beginning. So, my phone doesn't work any more. I dont know what is that soft for if it kills the wallby phones. I wish I didn't do that.

Setting Tytn to 2G only after Rom upgrade. Now it will not connect to BES

I am hoping that you can help me out with a little situation that I may have created on my HTC Tytn.
I was using the original ROM that Shipped with my Tytn and I was experiencing a "slow" device with some audio problems while in calls. Yesterday, I decided to upgrade. I installed SPL-2.10.01ipro. as per the warnings on the page (thankful that I have not bricked my phone) Worked perfectly for allowing myself to upgrade to what I think on the downloads page was the most current "stable" rom. Currently my Tytn is running the download listed below.
Upgraded HTC English Qtek_001
Rom 2.11.255.1 03/07/07
Exp Rom 2.11.215.102
Radio 1.38.00.10
Protocol 32.71.7020.12H
OS Build 15673.3.3.1
AKU 3.3.1
SPL 1.11
HTC BOOT 108
I have to admit, the unit runs great. Problem though, on the old OS, I was able to, under phone "band" select "2G". The reason for this is the Blackberry Connect software that I need to run for my work. (Or else I get assimilated into the world of Blackberry handhelds) will not connect as 3G. I have currently set the unit to "auto" for network type ("GSM ,WCDMA) and "auto" for GSM/UMTS Band. Any time I try to change this to anything else the unit comes back with a "Warning" that it can't complete the change. The unit still will not connect and says "Not Connected" under the bb_connect ver 4 status page. I have tried to install the older Rom back to;
HTC English
CID Q-TEK_001
ROM 1.18.255.3 7/22/06
ExtRom 1.18.255.106
Radio 1.03.03.10
Protocol 32.34.7010.01H
OS Build 14955.2.3.0
AKU 2.3
SPL 1.11
HTC_BOOT 1.04
I'm not sure if I can keep the upgraded radio and Rom versions and simply change the OS version but when I try to change to the complete rom above I get an error (260): UPDATE ERROR
"The Update Utility cannot connect to your PDA Phone. Please Check your USB Cradle/Cable is connected properly between the PC and your PDA phone"
The connection is good as I have been using active sync to install things like the blackberry software.
I am spinning my wheels here. I thank you in advance for any assistance that you can provide.
