Been there done that. MSAS tells me it doesn't recognize the device.
go to device manager and delete the devie and let the system install.
The device is is not recognizing is the xda not the sync cradle.

Computer recognises Xda 2 (USB connection) but activesync would not recognise the Xda 2. I tried Reinstalling the activesync and resetting my xda 2 but the activesync won't work. What happens is that the xda 2 connects itself to the GPRS. Please help
make sure you are using the activesync 3.7.1 version
I am using it
Yes. That is the Activesync I am using. The cradle cable is alright and I have tried changing the USB ports but to no fruition.
try soft reset; try deleting the partnership and re-establishing
try soft reset; try deleting the partnership and re-establishing
Tried soft reset, but won't work, tried re-installing software (Activesync 3.7.1) on desktop won't work either. I then tried hard reset and guess what, won't work. Don't know what to do now
try putting the cradle in another usb port
try installing motherboard drivers for usb via chipset seem to need those
try if it works with another computer
kaycy, did you fix it?
Same happend to me and i've tried everything!
are you using cable or cradle
Are you using the official cradle?, or an aftermarket cable?
Go to active sync -> file -> get connected
CHECKNOTIFICATIONS ISSUE
Yes. I fixed it.How is the Question. I did a hard reset and it worked this time. The differece this time was that I did not restore backup files from my SD card. I knew what I had in it and re-installed it. GUESS WHAT? It was this software called checknotifications. It is the only one that caused trouble immediately after I had installed it.
So your problem could be some other software that you might have downloaded as well.
Thanks lads
Ive always been able to connect my S100 to my PC and Active Sync has automaticly started up asking me what kind of connection I want (Guest or Standard) But now it wont work.
It still charges through the USB and when Windows finds the device but Active synd doesnt. (Im running latest version from MS)
I've un- and reinstalled Active Sync
I've tried different USB-ports
I've tried different USB-Cables
I've tried different computers (wont work there either)
I've rebooted the device
It must be something in my S100
Please help!
Thanx in advance

Everything all right
Are u using the same version of Active sync that came bundled with your device?
If yes TRY THE UPDATED VERSION
If NO, Try the PREVIOUS VERSION.
maybe there is something wrong in one of the connecting Pins In the cradle/Socket of the cable
How do I update software in the device, when I cannot sync?
Ive tried different software in my PC. None worked.
Im not sure its a HW-failure in the cable, since I tried different ones..
It could be in the device, Im not sure how to check though.

What version of ActiveSync has worked for you up until now?
Try an older version of AS:
3.8: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync38.mspx
Oh I solved it....by making a hard reset - SURPRICE!
What a crap device this is...
That almost always does the trick....sometimes my MDA II will act really weird and a soft or even a hard reset will fix a seemingly incompatible app.
All,
I am currently able to charge my TYTN, but unable to get a USB connection to activesync; any ideas?
I have tried switching off the usb advanced but i doesn't work...
When I soft reset while the USB cable is connected it starts up in bootloader but does not show it is connected via USB.....just nothing but the bootloader startup screen.....
IPL is 1.01 and SPL is 1.04.
My rom is the latest South African....
Ant help would be very nice,
Cheers,
HJ
sounds like a firewall problem. Try disconnection from the internet and disable your firewall. If it connects then, adjust the firewall settings before reconnection to the internet.
I had the same problem with EZ Firewall
Nope, it is not the firewall, it used to work perfectly and it suddenly doesn't...
2 different computers have the exact same problem..any ideas?
I'm sure you've probably tried these, but just in case:
Reset device & stop activesync on device (memory/running programs)
Reboot laptop/pc
check in task manager that activesync is not running in the background
Delete existing partnership in Activesync & set it up again

Yeps, tried all of that.....even ahard reset....
But still no succes, now back to syncing via IR....
Just :
START > SETTINGS > CONNECTIONS > USB to PC (then untick this box)
Then try again, worked OK for me!!!
use USB switch program
try install this program in your PPC and after that change activesync via serial instead of RNDIS.
worked on my Unieversal but i do not know yours
i don't think you need this program as it is already available in control panel -> connections -> usb-pc
hellejoep - any progress in solving this problem? I seem to be having the same problem with mine - tried activesync 4.2 and 4.5 on two machines - running the latest SA ROM.

I'll do and let you all know!
I tried another cable but that one also recognises my an unknow device.....is it somewhere in my USB drivers?
This pc is Win2k SP3, on my XP SP2 it was working....
Any ideas?
I had a defective cable. It did exactly what you are describing. All other cables worked fine.
First of all i really want to thank all the Helmi_c and all the developers; My BA is most updated running wm6.
Well much better than wm5 but I have some issues:
1. cant sync it with my PC in anyways (BT, usb etc), USB drivers are not working correctly.
2. sometimes when i pick or dial a call, i cant hear nething.
and last but not relevant to this, guys how do i stop my BA slider from falling down when I use keyboard.
1. Try delete the actual partnership in AS, sync again; if not reinstall AS on PC
2. No problem here with the sound.
same problem here
I upgraded my XDA2s, customized it,backedup, then upgraded my brothers XDA2s and used my customized backup on his XDA2s.
Now my XDA connects fine, but his doesn't !!!
Both our XDa2s's are identical in everyway.
tried a hard reset and restore from another backup and still no luck!
we were trying to save time re-installing the same softwares.
tried deleting partnerships, no luck. tried spb backup and clone, no luck.
any ideas!
Do you get any error messages on AS? Can you browse the internet from device?
usb drivers
can anybody post usb drivers i think this is the problem cause my device isnt installed properly it says problem with inf file.
whoever is able to connect his device to xp desktop via active sync usb connection, please copy the drivers folder contents from program files in active sync folder.
thanks, hope this works
Is your windows firewall enabled? Since WM6 activesync makes use of a LAN connection to sync with the PC, you must allow activesync trough the windows XP firewall, or disable the windows XP firewall completely...
no sound problems with me...
did you try to install WM6_SoundFix_.cab ?
A-
I am not able to use active sync after doing a WM6 upgrade (I used WM5 before)...
I tried all ROMs available - but ActiveSync doesnt work.
Funny part is - when in cradle I am able to do upgrade, but active sync doesnt work.
Any views / clues
You need the latest version of ActiveSync if you're running WM6.
Yes, I am using the LATEST active sync software in my PC !!!
tried to use bluetooth rather then usb to see if that works?
tried downgrade to WM5, then upgrade to another version of WM6.
Guess what....
I uninstalled Activesync and then reinstalled the same version again...
NOW it works... Nothing more - it works now...
Hope it works for others too
Actually there is no need to reinstall Active Sync, the best way is to delete the device from the activ sync with no device on cradle and then place the devie on cradle.

I tried this first - but with negative results...
Uninstall & re-install was just a try - and it worked
Uninstall and install
How did you uninstall and reinstall ActiveSync on Windows Mobile? Is there a separate cab available, and if so, where?

Thanks right... Uninstall the ActiveSync and re-install it. Dont forget to restart your PC... and try to SYNC - it could work then
Restarting WMDC
Another option, less painful than uninstalling, is killing the wmdc.exe process in Task Manager and restarting the Windows Mobile Device Center. Works very often.
