"No Bluetooth Hardware Installed" Error Msg. Pls h - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I have an XDA II, bought from the UK. I live in E. Africa so sending it back is a hassle. EVer since I bought it, although it was OK for a few days, a msg then came up saying "There is no bluetooth hardware installed on this device". This means I cannot put b/t on or off. Also, it affects the performance of the XDA II as it crashes frequently and loses Activesync connections frequently. The odd thing is that SOMETIMES, after a hard reset, it's OK again. But then when I do a subsequent hard or even soft reset the same problem occurs! So it DOES work. But not consistently. I conttacted O2 by email & tel. They were semi-helpful. I returned the XDA II to the O2 repair centre in London by courier (expensive). It came back, apparently repaired, but they had addressed the wrong thing and the problem still persists! I am loathe to sending it back without trying something for it - if you have any suggestions. Perhaps I can try a Rom Update or something to see if it sorts it. Even O2 are baffled, but I do not have the privilege of sending it off again because of where I live. Any suggestions or advice please? Many thanks.

Demand a replacement unit, if they cant fix it then you are entitled to a new xda2.

GPRS connection problems

I've noticed since I got my XDA IIi that the GPRS seems to 'stick'. It's got worse since I upgraded the ROM and Radio (ver 1.72.00WWE and 1.17.00 respectively).
What happens is that I attempt a GPRS connection but I get a message telling me that the either the dialled number didn't answer or it couldn't connect. However, if I do a 'soft' reset I can connect. The problem seems not to occur if I remain within a cell. ie. once I've done a soft reset at work then it's OK until I go home and vice-versa. Any ideas or suggestions? I did have this problem with the original XDA and when I contacted O2 I got answers which either insulted my intelligence or had a destinct whiff of BS about them but never a viable suggestion.

update xda2i

have received my 3rd 2i from o2 uk this week i test the gprs problem and this 3rd device has it so ive rung o2 and will ring them on monday to see if they have tested there model yet
the problem is this if you plug anything in to the bottom of the 2i be it power lead gps data cable then it breaks the gprs conection to only way to get round this is to either turn on flight mode then turn off flight mode or do a soft reset :?
the data support lady i spoke to is going look at it i have her name and extention number so should get some answers ive mentioned this is a device problom and should be referd back to htc the new device is going back and im keep my current 2i the second one i received ill let you know how it goes next weekend as i work away all week as a trucker in the uk
This happens to me as well. What also happens is that if you're connected to a power source like a car charger and you had the original headphone in the jack, the caller will not hear you...nor can you use the speakerphone option.
Luckily I've now got a BT headset that works with the new BT stack on the 2i, but for a few days I was VERY frustrated with the 2i. Now I'm quite happy.
Another thing. When I go to work I use Total Remote to send the IR signal to open the garage doors and I have to take it out of the car cradle in order to point it within 2cm of the sensor (damn non-commericial IR port). When I put it back in the cradle, I get the "ding" sound of having disconnected from something and the o2 active ui is closed as well.
Worth mentioning when you speak to them again. I think it's an OS problem not a hardware issue.
Cheers
Anthony
This seems like it could be a common problem, I've posted a very similar request;-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18890
I do feel that this is a bug in the firmware, hopefully it will be fixed shortly.
I noticed this and it really irritated me. Solution - and it works every time - is a hard reset which you interrupt with a soft reset BEFORE the O2 software is installed. On the soft reset, the XDA2i becomes a unit that connects to GPRS every time which hasn't got the O2 customisation.
I use it with Smartner's push email solution. An excellent piece of software. See www.smartner.com
I don't think its the o2 customisation as I've removed this by disabling the Today screen items and then using the remove software option.
Another item that I find annoying is the screen rotation icon, it randomly disappears, I'm not sure if this is related, soft reset corrects this problem.
Trust me, it is the O2 customisation. I've done three hard resets (just testing various software options) and it works a treat. Beat the O2 crap and it's a perfect phone.
Based on previous suggestions I've carried a a cold reset and then a soft reset prior to the o2 installation, I now have a core XDA IIi without o2 modifications.
Unfortunately this does not solve the GPRS problems when connecting power etc, however it does seem to have improved. The camera is now more buggie...
As this is an intermitent problem I really think it is a firmware bug, abnd have logged it with o2, they are looking into it.
Didn't think it would....there's no reason for o2 to provide that "functionality"...just sounds more like an issue with OS interpreting a charger / car cradle and confusing the hell out of itself.
Ant
spoke to o2 this morning and its something they are looking with htc so a rom update COULD be on the cards for uk customers the problem is on there issue list atleast
I've had a response back from o2 regarding this issue, they said they had tried to reproduce the problem but couldn't, which didn't surprise me but they then suggested that I carry out a Corporate installation ie cold reset and then the corporate install.
Firstly you end up with an XDA IIi with all the applications installed but none of the o2 customisation, but you do manually have to configure the GPRS access point and email.
Having tried this configuration for a day now I must admit, things appear to have improved, the connection is still disconnected when attaching devices, but they reconnect without problems. Before I had to either reset the device or switch in and out of flight mode.
Knowing my luck this will all change tomorrow....
please keep us posted as to how it works without all the o2 crap on there
Thanks
Jonh

Exec Troubles

Sorry for the second post so soon, but I decided to give it a go and popped to my O2 store and get an XDA Exec. I took the XDA home happy, set it on charge, gave a good 10 hours, and upon trying it don't seem to be having much luck - I've tried searching without much luck (either get nothing, or loads of results that have nothing to do with it) so I'd appreciate any ideas.
I booted the XDA Exec up, expecting to be presented with the screen I've read and seen about many times, where you choose between Personal, Basci or Corporate. Instead, I got only two options, just Basic and Corporate - no personal :?
Thinking maybe it was just a different thing, I then let it continue loading up. When it loaded, it completely failed to find any O2 network at all - even though I know there is one and another O2 phone connects straight away. It just continues searching and searching, never finding anything. (Phone is searching for a network to connect to icon). The Sim manager is completely blank, and I'm unable to get any sort of connection at all with it
Out of desperation I even tried the O2 Active software from the programs menu, which launched up a terribly corrupted Today screen (all the icons were broken) which crashed as soon as anything was clicked, leading to needing to do a soft reset due to no other option. I tried it again and same thing.
So far, I like the device, but it's not been what I've expected, and as it was primarily bought for mobile internet, not being able to connect is a bit of a downer . Furthermore, the seeming problems in the O2 software concerns me, too
Does anyone have any ideas? Is there something I'm missing that's obvious? Could the sim not be in properly or something, or could the sim have not been updated or something? I must admit, while I'm not new to Pocket PCs, I am new to phones of this sort, so I'd be greatful for any ideas or advice.
Thanks a lot in advance, I appreciate it
Since the phone is not able to connect to the network,so, most probably, its a SIM card problem. Try putting in some other O2 SIM in it and then try if it works
i would recommend doing a hard reset, and make sure your sim is inserted correctly before doing this.
Cheers, Bryson
i had problems connecting to o2 until they registered the sim card.try ringing them to see if they have done this

hi, i heard the corporate version is the best.. you can also try upgrading to latest rom. or if you already have that, hard reset, or you can even try a reflash.
also you should reseat the sim card & make sure you pushed the lock on it..

HTC Elf: Unable to make or take calls

Hi All,
I am new to this forum, however was using my HTC Elf for the past one year. All of sudden I started facing problem in making or taking calls. The Network on the screen remain full and complete still I am unable to make calls (i.e. the call drops, cannot be completed) or can't recieve the calls (i.e. caller gets my cell unavailable or switched off). This doesn't mean it happens always. Coincidently the calls are through without any problem at one go. The Authorized Service center at my city told me there was the problem with it's Network IC (I really don't know what's that) and he suggested me to sell of the phone asap. My cell is out of warranty so can't really offord to replace the mother board. I have upgraded the Radio ROM but is of no use.
Please help me in resolving this issue.
Many Thanks.
Which network are you on?
Do your friends face the same drop calls issue too?
Have you tried hard reseting it?
Please backup before hard reset.
HI Jeremy,
here in India I am on Airtel Network and no one face the drop call issues. This is absolutely the phone problem as the same SIM card works perfect in other phone. I had unlocked my phone, upgraded the Radio ROM and hard reset it, but the problem still persist.

Oh.
Mmm, I think the motherboard inside the phone has issues than.
You have tried all ways to clear the phone?
Have you tried other ROMS?
This issue seems to be popping up quite a bit recently. Or maybe that I've just started noticing it since I started having the same problem.
Yes Jeremy. I have tried all the versions of ROMs. And infact other simcard also act same in my phone. Even I believe that motherboard has some issue. The Service center had told me the "Network IC" problem (though I didn't believe that) and to replace the motherboard (without warranty) would cost me 70% of the handset cost.
No point repairing motherboard, must as well get a new windows mobile phone.
So yeah.
I ran out of ideas already.
The only thing I can help you with is to, backup all your contacts to Google Sync, get a new iPhone or O2, than use that same protocol to transfer your contacts and calender data and mails to your new phone.
Cheers.

Omnia 7 Call Ended Error

I bought a used phone from internet website, its worked great and it was locked on T-mobile UK. I got it unlocked from fastgsm and used my tesco sim with the phone.
The phone worked great for couple of days and on the third day it worked upto 11am (that is when i made the last call on the phone) and after that i am getting 00:00 Ended every time i press call even to voice mail.
it does not call anyone no texts either and when someone calls me it says the phone is switched off.
Steps i have taken to fix the issue:
I have swapped different sim cards.
i reset my phone through settings and diagnosis code.
I have updated the firmware to the 7740
I have installed a new unbranded UK retail firmware. its still running this firmware.
I have checked if the imei is blocked or stolen or something on a few websites nothing came up.
I have searched XDA to see if someone else has this problem and there are quite a few people here with the same problem but no solution.
I need help i have no idea what to do next
everything else on the phone works great no problems wlan connection keeps it connected and all the other features are fine its just the phone calls and text msgs which i cannot send or receive.
i have tested my sim on other phone it seems to be fine.
Please help i am not sure what to do next.
thank you and regards
Call Samsung support.
I've got a very similar problem - I can access the internet with my SIM but I can't make a call or send a text.
Omnia 7 - originally on orange but unlocked.
Any help appreciated.
ok then xda cant help me with this problem lets see if samsung support can do something about it. i have called them and i am taking the phone to their service center.
wish me luck i will report back if there is any news for other people with similar problem.
I have the same problem. Ive done almost all the steps as you have. Im beginning to think that its a hardware related problem. Maybe the sim-reader.. Well, i bought another phone but I hope to fix it anyway. I'll be back to check your progress in the matter.. gl
I can also contribute that I did the unlock via fastgsm.. (without any errors) And that may be the cause. But 1 thing is different though, I could never make any calls at all. You said that u were making calls.. I had a very long email conversation with fastgsm that ended with him not responding to me at all. But that was some time ago and I deleted the emails.. Not that I think it would help. Now I use the phone as a surfing pad (wifi/data ok) its sad really... lol
That's a terrible problem, I feel for you guys.
Definitely get it contact with your provider or SAMSUNG to get a replacement.
I can't think of any settings which you could change other than the obvious ones.
