I've been given an XDA with both currupted Radio and CE.
The real problem is the thing will only charge (red LED) until the device powers on to the red/green/blue display. Once this screen appears the LED goes out, and it starts to discharge.
There isn't enough power at this point to allow a new CE image to be loaded from SD card.
Anyone know a way of forcing the charge so it doesn't stop when the device powers on ?
Maybe I can try hooking up something to the additional battery connector on the back. Anyone know the specs of this ?
You can try replacing the battery (but just as a last resort).
And don't trust the LED, the charging logic is afaik Radio independent (not on it's ROM), and the LED is controlled by the GSM part.
I have another fully working XDA, so swapping the battery might be an option. Is it difficult to get to and swap ?
Well, you void warranty... and the battery itself is quite fragile in a way...
How long did you try to charge it? Don't trust the LED...
I know its not charging once the LED goes off, because it will soon discharge, bringing up the Red LED again, then charging until power up. It just goes round in a loop.
I manged to swap the battery, which is part of the back cover, with the other XDA.
I'm now atempting to fix the Radio with the autorun file posted/linked to here.
The RSU fix didn't work, it fails at 77%.
We really need a GSM option added to XDArit, so we can have a Boot Loader/SD card radio fix.
For those of us with broken GSM's it won't do any harm trying.
Please XDA-Developers, tell us it's on it's way.

Hi all,
Need som urgent help. The backcover of my device is not fitting well any longer. Guess I´ve bumped it to many times...
As a result (Iguess) I cant turn on or even charge my magician!
The only thing that is happening when I try to charge is that a red light is turned on. What does this mean?
Any solution of how to get it work again?
Is it possible to buy a new back-cover? Live in Sweden.
Thankful for some ideas!
Regards Emil
Most probably the notch on the battery cover that hits the microswitch lever has broken. You will find the microswitch on the lower-right corner of the device when facing down. Put something soft but strong enough (ie. foam) to keep the microswitch in the ON postion then mount the battery cover and temporarily fix it with tape. Be sure to keep your device plugged in via USB or charger in order not to totally discharge the backup battery. If the backup battery gets depleated, then it's like doing a hard reset.
You can buy parts from ebay but I've always bought from Brando and is very reliable dealer (shop.brando.com.hk). Delivery is quite fast too.
Hi Zerimar and thanks for your answer!
Unfortunately that didn´t do the trick. Still the same red light when trying to charge. And I can´t turn it on! I am pretty sure that the battery is flat out by now but even so I would think it would load and then after a while, I would be able to turn it on.
Am really frustrated abt this!
Any more ideas maybe?!?
Regards Emil
u'd better send it to service...

Well, that´s what I´m trying to get around... Thats why I´m hanging around here
If have have my device charged via USB or charger, the LED becomes as soon as I remove the battery cover. If I hit the microswitch lever then the LED turns green and start to boot up. If main battery is removed the LED stays red even though hitting the microswitch's lever.
It looks like it's not charging your main battery or your battery is already defective. If your device is over a year old and you're still using the same battery, then its time to change it. Bulges in a battery is a sign that it needs replacement.
Before sending your device for repair, why not look for someone you know who also has a Magician or equivalent device and quickly borrow his/her battery?
I had red LED when plugging into a main charger - and then the phone reset.
Red LED + loop booting-poweroff = dead battery
If the LED is RED when you charge your device for hours
If the device tries to boot sometimes, but powers off by itself some minutes after (it means, at least, that your device CAN boot! )
Your battery may be dead, I bought a new one for 10Euros on ebay...
Those batteries are perfectly compatible with HTC Prophet or HTC Beetles (Ipaq 6515) and maybe other devices... easy to find!
When turning on my trinity, I have the welcome screen "running" up and having a white stripe in the middle, well just look at the picture.
I just cant turn on my trinity.
If somone have idea how to fix this, please.
thanks in advance.
I'm having the exact same problem for weeks now!!
The first thing i tried was removing the sd card, and replacing the battery,
this seems to fix the problem for a small period of time (up to 1 day).
Don't be fooled, the problem will return when you need your phone the most
Reflashing the device with the same/different ROM has no effect!
Being an electronics engineer, i carefully checked all the connectors inside the screen, and everything is connected as it should be..
If anyone has any suggestions.... ?
Sjerby, one thing you can try to temporary revive your phone is this:
-Remove the back cover and take out the battery
-Plug in the charger, do NOT use the usb cable!!
-Put the battery back in, but don't try to power on the phone
-Leave the phone to charge for at least 20-30min
-Power it back on. You might have to push the power button twice for it to respond.
My findings are that the device somehow uses more power than the battery can
supply, but using a brand new fully charged original battery does not fix the problem!
ummm... the phone DOES work once in a while but it get stuck fast after, somtimes it just show's a black screen.
and i have no charger i use usb cable to charge it, i forgot the charger in a vecation ><
and just for the record the camera is having problems aswell if it makes to turn on
I have flash the new rom from t mobile.... after I flash from wm5 to wm6 which complete.... it cant boot anymore... even I have taken out the battery and out it back ..... i press power button no response.... nothing can be seen from the screen.... im afraid it is dead as good....
Take battery out and connect to power. If you see a red light where it lights up to show its charging then the hardware is OK.
Try with battery and see if it charges. NO LED means battery dead.
Need to know if the hardware is COMPLETELY dead or if the battery is the culprit.
If everything is ok and you just need to replace the battery then read this for a safety net while flashing - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
Cheers...
im able to see the red light if i did not put in battery and i have another unit battery which is workable and when i put in also no resposne.
Sounds like battery contacts may be broken or cracked. Might be unfixable. Usually happens after a drop... You could try to re solder the contacts but no guarantees.
the pda was not drop before....
Are you charging with the original charger or USB/3rd party charger?
Did you let the battery go under 10% charge?
If you are charging without the original charger or with the usb cable it may not be getting the correct voltage which may be confusing the internal charging sensor.
This may also happen if you let your battery go below the 10% mark frequently.
There are a few threads about this so I'll let you search for them. Good luck.
I don't believe it would be the internal fuse as the red LED shouldn't turn on if this was blown.
Cheers...

This happened to me too with a regular, unlocked HTC TyTN (not the MDA Vario II from T-Mobile). Fortunately, after about two days, while I thought the handset is "dead", I tried to turn it on again and it worked, just like that. Weird
Hi! i've bought an used Qtek 9090. the problem is that this Qtek don't power on! it doesn't go on bootloader mode, doesn't go on hard reset ecc... but when i charge it, the red led turns on!
what can i do? please help me
well try to charge the battery only in the cradle
if this not help try to borrow working battery from someone, if your device does not start even with working battery then you are screwed (a hardware problem of some kind)
no i think the battery is ok.
there is a way to restore the bootloader? i've read about the jtag, but i don't know anything... can you explain?
Battery is charging only when the LED is orange/amber. Red means problems with charging - that's why xplode proposed putting the baterry directly in the cradle, as it can "fix" the battery.
Well the red light means there is problem, the most comon problem is the battery, but the red light is also shown with motherboard, bootloader, kernel, and other problems
one more option is there. if the battery is not charged from a long time it needs a shock before recharging to activate the electrons. u should apply some 12v at 1 or 1.5 amp for 15-30 sec. than battery will get a little charge which is sufficient to turn on the phone once.................... but do not apply this voltage regularly or for long time.
Hey,
I've got a serious problem with my XDA Orbit. There is a white screen coming after the boot screen. Sometimes the phone even starts until the todays screen but after a while it is going white again.
I tried hardreset succesfully but the problem still appears. I cannot flash the official wm6 because when the screen goes white the connection to the computer is interrupted. I cannot go into the boot loader...
All the time when I press camera button and softreset the phone is just turning off. Has somebody an idea what I could do?
Any booting with MicroSD card maybe?
Or is it the battery? (I don't think so but it might...The battery was empty for a long time...?)
Or any other ideas?
Greets,
Kon
Just saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467648
maybe new battery helps
Li-Ion batteries should be stored charged. Leaving them uncharged can cause them to malfunction, try a new battery.
What do you mean by "stored charged?".
Do I have to have a charger like it is included in a cradle? Or is there another way to charge the battery?
I bought a new one but the same problem still appears...
Sorry to hear the new battery did not help. Have you tried starting the phone with the SIM and Memory card out?
Stored charged means the battery should be fully charged up before storing and every now and then taken out of storage, the charge level inspected and re-charged if required.
