Read THIS first.
My FOTA update keeps failing to install.
You have to fully return your device to stock (not just unroot). Use NVflash to do this. Then go to the asus ftp server and download any update file. Update your device using that file and this should allow your device to update FOTA properly.
Get a tingling sensation when plugging in a charger?
Flip the charger over and plug it into the wall so that the S in asus is on the side with the fat slot on the plug to fix. Seems to be a faulty adapter issue.
My screen isn't displaying anything:
Make sure none of the side buttons are stuck. Press them and make sure they 'click' ok. Force power off your device (10-12 second hold of power button, then release). Wait for about 30 secs. Then power it on normally (6sec power button hold and release). If your screen worked, then stopped, try discharging the battery to 0%. Then re-charging it. This has seemed to clear screen responsiveness for lots of people.
My dock battery is dead and it won't start to re-charge:

My speaker volume is stuck at a certain level:
Force power off your device (10-12 second hold of power button, then release). Then wait for about 30 secs. Then power it on normally (6sec power button hold and release).
My device/dock battery isn't charging OR my device/dock battery isn't holding a charge:
Make sure the charger is 100% clipped together properly. It's a very tight fit and may need slight force to snap together. Also make sure you have inserted the usb cable the right way up in your adapter. Sometimes unclipping, and re-attaching the adapter parts fixes problems (some come pre-assembled already so this may not be your issue). If your dock battery indicator doesn't ever go green after about 8hrs of charging (not for the first charge) then it may need RMA'ing. A normal charge of the tablet itself, from empty to full, should take about 3hrs maximum (not for the first charge).
My battery is draining very quickly:
Some apps run fine in the background, but there are others that may be 'keeping alive' certain functions, such as gps, sensors, etc. In order to get around this you can use free task killing apps from the market. It's recommended to be selective about which apps you choose to auto-kill. Don't just put them all on auto-kill (unless you are using a 'safe' option in the app) or your system may become unstable. If you have wifi on when you put the tablet in standby, it stays connected. If you then leave the network coverage area, the tablet will continually search for any network around it, draining the battery further. So when leaving home, remember to switch it off. Another possible cause of major battery drain is a badly coded/incompatible app. Get a battery monitoring app from the market and keep a close eye on the logs it produces. Don't watch every little blip/spike in the readings, try to take an average reading, over a few hours/days to get a better idea of what's happening.
Why isn't my device charging when I plug it into my pc?
It will only charge when the display of the device is off. And it is extremely slow and will only trickle charge. There are ways to boost power to your usb port, but the risks far outweigh any benefits.

Update to the latest firmware. Set your router/modem to a specific channel (set it to 1-11, NOT channel 12 or 13). Failing that, it's probably time to buy a newer wireless N router/modem (the TF does not support 5ghz, only 2.4ghz).
One of my speakers stays on even when nothing is playing from it:
Put your device into standby mode for 5+ seconds. Then turn on again.
My charging cable is too short:
Some 3rd party USB 3.0 male to female extension cables work to extend the length. This seems to be the luck of the draw if it works for you or not.
I get horrible movie recording framerate issues:
This was fixed in firmware update1. Upgrade your firmware.
My microsd card isnt working:
Make sure it is formatted to fat32. Make sure it's securely fixed into the slot. It has to be pushed in quite a way. Use a long fingernail or the edge of a credit card. Make sure it clicks and holds in the slot. It should be flush to the side of the device.
I have dust under my screen or dead pixels or both:
Return and replace for a new unit by RMA'ing your device.
My MKV video playback is jerky/unwatchable/not working:
Make sure it's a low profile encoded file.
My device isn't powering on:
Perhaps you have put it into APX/nvflash mode by mistake (which doesn't display anything onscreen). Force power off your device (10-12 second hold of power button, then release). Then wait for about 30 secs. Then power it on normally (2sec power button hold and release). If still nothing you might have to RMA it for a replacement.
I can't install any apps from the market:
If you are in an unsupported country you can try THIS. If you're not and still can't install, sometimes google does maintenance that affects certain accounts. Try it again at a later time/date.
My onscreen keyboard is laggy:
Change the keyboard from the default Asus keyboard for the stock honeycomb one. Turn off text prediction. If still laggy you have a conflicting app. If fixed then find another keyboard app that you like.
When I plug my device into my pc I cant transfer any files:
Make sure the device's screen is on, and that the lockscreen is not showing.

There is inbuilt code to stop your device from charging above a certain point to prolong the battery life.
Solid Green light = Battery above 95% charge.
Solid Orange (they call it orange) = 10-95% charge.

My SDXC card isn't working:
Format it as NTFS, if you are using files over 4gb on it or the card wont work properly. An alternative method is to format the card as Fat32 filesystem (if you are going to be only storing files under 4gb in size), but you will need to partition it into 32gb sections if you use this formatting system, for the full capacity to be usable.

You can modify that behavior in the wifi settings. Take a look at the sleep settngs.
I have not seen this mentioned so it probably is not too common a problem but my wifi was initially invisible to my transformer. Switching the channel from 13 or maybe 14 to something lower fixed the issue.

Yes, and I want to stress: wifi performance on standby is problematic and needs a fix. On the Xoom, wifi can be kept on when the screen turns off and standby performance is in the <.5%/hour battery use range. The Asus needs to have wifi set to turn off when the screen is off to achieve this kind of performance (otherwise, it burns about 3%/hour).
I'm hoping Asus is aware of this issue and will fix it soon in a firmware update.

Touch screen stopped responding to touch
Brand new unit after about an hours use the touchscreen stopped responding to touch. It did this on Friday, May 13th, between Noon and 5pm eastern DST. The unit was working when shut of and was in a safe spot. I went to turn it on and no touchscreen. I noted the time as I think there may have been an OTA update then but I never saw anything on screen.
No monkey business, rooting, tinkering etc. Just learning about unit.
I have wiped the memory and cold booted several times, no change. I note that after a forced off the unit turns back on by its self. I saw earlier when I started the browser for the first time, the right 25% of the screen was over bright then went dark. Exiting browser, screen returned to normal and never saw this behavior again.
Screen may be somewhat dim now but cannot get past setup screen as only power key is responded to.
Already asked B&H for RMA but any magic gratefully accepted.

Unfortunately it sounds like a clear case of a faulty unit. Don't know of anything that can help in that situation im afraid. Not what you'd want to hear of course, but at least it should be a simple exchange for a new one.

Good point, I'm not sure. I assuming that no matter what, the led on the keyboard dock would show just it's own charge.
Will have to monitor it for a bit and get back to you.
Hopefully later once Asus release another update, it will contain the dock battery vs. tablet battery (that got taken out from the .12 beta build) for us to monitor both.

Transformer won't Charge
I received my eee pad transformer from hh gregg yesterday. When I opened the box I noticed that there was a scratch that appeared to be under the the screen. The scratch is very long, but also very fine and you can only see it when the screen is dark and you hold it up to the light. So I figured what the heck, not that big of a deal. However, when I went to charge the transformer, I cannot get it to charge. No light, no nothing. I've tried everything. Plugging it up to the computer, plugging into the wall, taking apart and putting back together, still nothing. I'm trying to figure out what to do. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Asus said I can send to them and they will look at it or I can send it back to the store, however, the store does not have anymore of the transformers in stock.

If you are taking apart and putting back together the wall charger then you likely haven't put it together properly yet; it will not come apart easily at all if it is fully together.
Try pushing harder than you think you should until the pronged portion is snapped in to place and you cannot easily remove it again. If it doesn't snap down, the contacts on the back side don't line up and it won't charge.
On January 29th there was a software update. Since the update I have an extremely slow charge. For example I can put my phone on the charger at night at 30% and when I wake 9 hours later it has only charged 20%. This has happened almost everyday since update. I have checked my charger, changed outlets, put ultra battery save on. Still the same thing happens. One other problem is I will be connected to wifi but it will also alert me to sign into my wifi. I am finding myself restarting my phone all the time to clear issues. Am I the only person have issues since the latest software update??

Use Galaxy Charging Current app (free) from Play Store and see if the phone is getting the correct current - it should get around minimum 1200 milliamps. If not, the cable must be damaged.

My Nexus 7 (2012) turned off(not properly) when the battery level was low and won't power on. I tried a battery from a working tablet and tested my battery in another tablet. It seems like the issue is somewhere else.
These are the things I tried:
- leave it for a couple of hours charging (no battery sign at all)
- hold the power button with/without the volume levels while it being both connected and disconnected.
- tested my battery in another tabled and put a fully charged battery from another tablet
- made sure that the battery is connected
There was one more thing I tried - to press the Power button with no battery inside but the tablet being connected to a laptop via the USB cable. One could hear something like a boot noise coming from the tablet (doesn't happen when the battery is inside)
In December, 2015 I installed a Custom ROM with android 5.1.1 which I found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/development/android-6-aosp-grouper-t3268172/ (the thread was renamed and is now about the Android 6 update) The tablet worked fine for these 3 months but one day when I was checking my email it went off and won't respond to any actions.
Could you please help me to fix it? I'm just not ready to give up on this tablet. Thanks!
Both you and i, same model, essentially, the same circumstances. I also tried every method you mentioned as well. Even down to the flashing of a rom. Same results. I even tried "jump starting" the battery. Not wanting to give up on it. It sits in my closet like that boy in A.I at the bottom of the ocean, waiting... I know that is not the reply or help you were looking for. Just so you know, you are not alone..

Well, that's a good start, at least I am not the only one!
Have you tried to connect your device via USB? My laptop can see a connected device but it can't recognize it and I hear some sounds coming from the tablet when I try to hold the `power` button. This made me think that it can be a display/screen related, so the device works but we can't see it due to the broken screen/display. Don't know how to check that though.
Same here, stock Nexus 7, won't turn on, just switched off one day and won't come back on, have tried everything as suggested above, can't get it to flicker, doesn't even register the power connection with a green light or anything

Try replacing the screen, just to check. If that doesn't fix it, at least you have a brand new screen!
I'm currently having the same issue, haven't used it in 6 months and when I tried to turn it on, nothing happens

I fix mine,
let it sit on the charger for a hour, then hold down the button for 20 sec
same issue here as well ive had it for about a year and im not able to access anything via my pc google help forums had no answer either, looks like we may be screwed..........
Hi, I just had same issue with my tablet only thing is that I was using it with ~20% of battery, nothing special - browsing the web using chrome, then the screen lit gray and shut off. After that no response either from charger, holding power button for 60+ seconds didn't work either, tried re-connecting the battery, still with no signs.
And then, I tried to plug in the charger and then pressing VolumeDown+Power immediately after connecting the charger. Suddenly got some response, that battery charging icon appeared, and it shows my battery charging, but from 0%. Still waiting to charge a bit until I can try to boot it.
I'll update this post with any news.
EDIT: When I connected my tablet to the charger it had that hissing sound, but after few minutes it stopped.
After 15 minutes of charging I managed to boot my Nexus7 with 7% of charge in it a that moment, It seems to work for now.
Summarry of what I did to solve my problem:
1. Opened the back of the N7 (I used a guitar pick for this) and re-connect the battery.
2. Then plugged in the charger and at the same time pressed VolumeDown+Power, battery icon lit up but went out, repeated step 1, and then step 2 again gave me animated battery charging animation which showed up for like 10 seconds
3. Waited for 10-15 minutes and tried to boot normally. And it works now

Thanks mine was taking forever to charge so I unplugged the battery waited a few minutes and then it worked it charged faster

I have done same, Mine is , My son had it and ran it to 0%, charging port was iffy, put new one charging port in this morning, nothing, not even battery DEAD sign, nothing tried power, button / volume trick , I did notice on the power/volume button, there is a 4th, anyone have a clue, cannot find what im looking for to answer that.
I have a smart young co-worker looking at it for me right now.

Honestly, I do not think it is the battery, I can see the Charge signal, and the Battery is showing 1,784 VDC tested unplugged and disconnected, my smart young co-worker seems to think POST is failing, I still never see a "Charging" indication.
Does anyone know , Is there a fail safe, say the battery is disconnected, and usb charger is plugged in, will i just see all 5VDC at the sub port, ?
I never see a screen flicker, DEAD battery sign, nothing.

The box was sealed.
When I tried to turn on the phone, it didn't start. I thought it was empty so I put in on charger for 2 hrs.

Sounds like the phone is defect. The only thing I can think of is that it somehow freezed up and you will need to let the battery drain so all power is off the phone and then try to recharge it. Draining the phone completly without screen use can take up to 7 days.
I finally managed to turn it on,by keeping it on charger for whole day and night and after a couple of attempts it was on.
I thought battery voltage was pretty low which prevented it from turning on.
I used a phone for a day, completely discharged it and then recharged it to 100% again. I thought everything is gonna be good now.
Then I wanted to upgrade to Lollipop, I decided to use YotaFlasher to flash EU KitKat first, and that worked fine. After that, I used OTA update to download Lolipop.
Download finished, and I was offered to "restart device and apply update", but as soon as I confirmed, the device went off and I can't turn it on anymore. What the heck is happening with this yotaphone? (battery was at 97%)
I can't turn it on, restart, put in download or recovery mode, get it to charge or get the screen on. Also PC don't recognize it *AT ALL* -- not even sound that something is connected. It looks completely dead (again).
Any ideas what I can do to fix my new problem?

The battery has started to drain big time and the Android system is consuming most of the power.
1. Calibrating my battery.
2. Factory reset to January update.
3. Stopping the apps running in the background.
4. Turning off location, wifi and internet.
5. Tried disabling backup of photos.
6. Disabled app preview messages under Google.
7. Tried replacing the physical battery at the service center.
8. Currently running on the June 2018 patch.
Despite doing all this the battery drains big time, even when it's idle, when I'm sleeping.
I'm unable to upload screenshot because it keeps saying that there's a network issue. But the screenshot stats say that the android os consumes most of the battery and SoT was 30 minutes. Phone was idle for most of the time. It came down 100-20% in a few hours.
Android OS is eating away most of the battery.

No, motherboard replacement won't fix the issue. It looks like there's an issue with deep sleep. try a custom kernel and see if that helps
While my drain is not as bad as the OPs, it is bad. I have taken to turning on Airplane mode when the phone is not in use. Overnight drain is 20%+ when idle if not in Airplane mode, 1% if it is. SoT has gone from the original 6-7 hours to about 2.5 to 3 hours. Battery health is at 96% according to battery app. Held awake seems to be very high if not in Airplane mode, with almost 3 hours overnight when the phone is not in use. Main battery use is from Kernel and Phone. HOPEFULLY these issues will be resolved with 8.1 or P, but I won't hold my breath.
Unfortunately none of these issues were addressed in 8.1 and I'm not sure if they even recognized this issue, for it to be solved in future updates.

You're probably the only one or one of the very few with bad battery drain (80% in just a few hours while idle) on the stock rom so you probably got a lemon or its damaged from a fall.
Flashing the Jan 2018 rom wasn't smart at all since there was alot of news that the first Oreo update was very buggy and was pulled. 8.1 is also buggy and also got pulled. Best to flash the stock April rom for less problems.

Thank you for your response. The phone does not have any physical damage. Flashing the Jan 2018 rom was a move by the service center despite telling them it wouldn't help.
I managed to figure out using GSAM that the issue is being caused by 700000.ssusb kernel wakelock and I have no clue how to fix it. Do you have a workaround for it?
As this option is USB related, you could try changing the usb mode in developer options:
Settings>System>Developer options>Select USB configuration - change it to "charging" (I note mine is currently MTP)
I'm 100% guessing here but maybe if it's set to charging it won't be looking for OTG devices?

I've tried setting it to all possible modes under USB configuration including "charging", but doesn't seem to help.
OK, it was only a thought.
I did read on another thread someone say they plugged and OTG adaptor (no OTG device attached) and it stopped the problem, not a solution but worth a try, if you have one.
Have you inspected carefully with a torch inside the USB hole for any debsit that has got in there?

Yes I read about that work around too. Haven't tried it yet as I do not have an OTG adapter. Will post a response once I try.

Most of the threads have a reboot method that works for the user but they all vary a little bit, this works for this user:
In my case a kernel wakelock called "7000000.ssusb" was keeping my phone from entering deep sleep. I resolved it by plugging my charger, unplug it and turn it off immediately, wait a few minutes and reboot. However it is a specific solution for that bug.

I've already tried the plug in - screen on - unplug - reboot, but did not work for me. I'll post the dump over the weekend.

I'm just noticing this today,
When I click on the USB configuration and set it to "Charging" from "MTP", it doesn't actually change.
The pop up that shows different options shows that it's in charging but it's actually still in MTP. I'm not sure if this could be the cause.
Do you know how to fix this?

You need to back out of developer options and go back in again to see the change.
Plug the charger in
Change mode to charging
Back out of developer options
Re enter developer option - should no be on charging.
Plugging in, changing the selection, backing out and going back in does not show changes: Change setting to Charging->back->back. Developer options-> Select USB Configuration shows Media Transfer Protocol, while the Selection itself shows charging. (it's plugged in, so makes sense) I tried changing this to Music Transfer Protocol last night and it made zero difference in the battery drain. I just tried the plug in, turn off, unplug thing. I will let you know if I see any difference. USB port is clean under 5x magnification. NETLINK and timerfd shows more activity than 7000000.ssusb on my device, but all of them are higher than they should be I think.. NETLINK shows 324644 wakelocks!!! Timerfd shows 65337 and 7000000.ssub shows 33256! The thing is, the phone has been used very little since the last full charge!
That's odd, I dont have the issue and when I choose "charging" it stays on that setting even after unplugging the charger. Each time I re-enter developer options it's still set to charging.
The fact yours changed links in with the wakelock, your phone appears to think something is plugged in which is why I asked you to check for debris in the port. I'm wondering if you have a damaged usb port?
If it's software related, I don't think resetting it will help, I'm no expert but I'm assuming as its a kernel wakelock & I'm sure a reset has no effect on the kernel? maybe others can advise.
I wonder if flashing the stock Kernel would help, I'm only thinking out loud, I'm sure others can give better flashing advice.
Do the wakelocks show up while charging?
Your next step really has to be to post a dump on the official thread, a few people are complaining about this battery drain but nobody has posted a dump to the official thread yet.

Yes that's exactly what's happening as described in first point.
I observed NETLINK sends more wakelocks but if you see the time it kept the system awake in the background would be comparitively less.
