Xtrons PSF7FSFA - intermittent USB connection issue - Android Head-Units

Hiya, new to forum. Done a search and couldn't find any specific help for my issue.
I have an XTRONS android 12 headunit specific shape for a MK4 Ford Mondeo. Model number is PFS7FSFA_B.
The issue I have is with the USB cable and android auto. I had issues with the stock software for screen mirroring in that it needs an Internet connection (better than a mobile hotspot I've read) to validate or something. Couldn't get that to work. Some googling found me the HUR Headunit Reloaded app.
Paid for that and downloaded it. Managed to get it all setup and working. Then after changing screen resolution in the HUR app it would no longer see that I connected my phone. It would charge but wouldnt actually connect.
I'm using the red USB cable that plugs into the headunit per the instructions.
Issue seems intermittent as yesterday I got it working after a lot of fiddling, then it stopped. Then I pulled the power to the Headunit and it got going again.
But this morning not working again.
I attempted to download the wireless app to try that but couldn't really understand which device needed the hotspot running on it as the instructions were a little ambiguous.
Phone is a pixel 7 pro.
Where should I start looking to troubleshoot this issue. OR are these units just junk in the first place?
Any help appreciated

For reference the USB cable I'm using is brand new, high quality braided cable, data transfer on other devices is fine as I checked, I also tried a couple different cables to the same avail. Leading me to think it's either a software issue in the headunit/app or an actual hardware issue?

Evening update on my USB woes, its now stopped charging the phone at all, it does register that I have plugged the cable into the phone, but when I check the "battery app" on the phone it does not show that its charging.
There were 2 USB cables in the box with this unit, a 4pin plug with a red USB socket, and a 6pin plug with a black USB socket, all the info seemed to point towards the red one labelled mirror link that I need to use. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? Do the 4/6pin plugs work differently or have different power outputs or something?

[Q] Cannot connect phone to car via USB

This a rather specific issue, but none of the forums for my car were able to give me an answer. I drive a 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS.
So I just recently switched from iPhone to Android, and I have been having a **** of a time getting the phone to connect to the car via the USB port in my 2013 GLS. With my iPhone, it was as simple as plug n play...not so much with the Android (it's a Verizon LG G2, for what it's worth), as every time I plug in the USB cable, I get "Connection Error" on the screen, and then it just switches back to whatever audio mode I was in before.
I know the USB port actually says "iPod" underneath it specifically, but the owner's manual vaguely hints at a universal USB music mode...I've gone through the menus and tinkered with some of the options, but am unable to find a solution. I really do not want to use Bluetooth. I will buy a car charger and aux cable and just have two connections if need be, but I gotta believe there's a way to have a non-iOS device hooked up through the USB port and be able to play music through it. I don't even need metadata to show up on the screen, just a simple connection would do it!
I am running AOKP 4.4.2. This issue persists even with MTP USB mode activated.

[RK3066][GS?] Wifi and USB stopped working - Hardware defect or MCU issue?

Hey,
I have an MTCB device in my car since 2014. It was working quite nicely. I did the BT Mic mod, added a pigtail for the WIFI and an external antenna. I have a HDD connected to the powered USB port and used the antenna 12V out to power a USB hub to which a 3G dongle is connected. All was fine.
Then at some point the USB hub stopped working. I noticed it as my 3G stopped to work. First I suspected a bad cable but it turned out that the 12V out for the antenna wasn't delivering enough current anymore. So I decided for a different setup and connected the USB hub to an external 12V supply (yes it is a 12V USB hub!). So far so good, everything was working again. As I was in the mood I noticed that there was a new GS MCU and flashed it. Moreover I removed the DVD drive to leave more space in the unit to prevent overheating. AFAIR I rebooted and everthing worked.
The next day neither the data from the USB drive were there nor the WIFI was working. After some more investigation I noticed that also the 3G dongle wan't working. So altogether the whol USB stack and the WIFI did not work. I was puzzled. Removed some of the USB parts and rebooted. Nothing. Then I reverted the GS MCU update. Nothing. I remembered vaguely having such an issue after a wrong MCU update in the past. And I got unsure whether GS was the right MCU. So I went on and tried several different MCU images (GS, JY, KGL, KLD, RM) with no luck.
Now I m puzzled whether the external 12V to the USB might have caused a hadware issue or there might be some other hardware issues I ran into or maybe it is still an MCU issue. The android image is at the latest 4.4.4 of Malayk. I ran an older version of it for months without any problem.
If you need more infos, pictures and so on, let me know. Thanks in advance for any hint or help.

Actually, I think this should be in MTCB Q&A. IS it possible to move this thread to this subforum? Thanks!

Eonon GA2163 wifi issues.

So, I finished the install on my new head unit last night and everything works beautifully except the wifi. It will not come on at all. I go into settings and click the wifi on button and it just sits there "To show available connections turn on your wifi." I was thinking about doing a factory reset on the unit, but I can't find the password anywhere. From everything I've read it's probably going to be a hardware issue so I'd like to get a USB hub and a USB wifi dongle, this would be cheaper and faster then sending it back to Eonon. Everyone says you have to get a powered USB hub for this to work, so where are you guys plugging these hubs in at to get power? All of them say 5v 2.5 amps and that's a lot less then my truck puts out. Anyways, I guess my questions are... Does anyone have any suggestions on troubleshooting the built in wifi (password to do a factory reset maybe). What USB hub would you suggest? How are you connecting the hub to your vehicle's power? What USB wifi dongle would you suggest?

Alright, this is what I came up with for the USB hub.
Amazon B074H66N8Q
Amazon B00C0KL1OM
Amazon B071F5LWS1
There are several passwords. I have the same radio, wifi works fine for me.
Eonon Passwords
Bluetooth: 5802 (Factory Default)
Reset Factory: 7890
Developer Options: 7890
Extra Settings: 123456
Last night I was getting everything put together and I had everything disconnected, after I reconnect the stereo I turned my truck on to make sure it was working and to my surprise wifi came on. I was so happy! I turned the truck off and back on reset the stereo and wifi was still working. So, I hooked everything back up, plugged in my usb camera and usb hub, turned the truck back on and wifi was not working again. After some tinkering around I figured out if I have anything plugged into the blue usb cable wifi doesn't work. Here is a video of what it is doing. For now I just wont use that usb port.
Did you end up working out what the issue is or just replace? I have a similar issue (haven't checked the USB where is only connects to my mobile hotspot. Every other WIFI doesn't show up. Will need to check the USB.
Cheers

4G modem for Joying PX5?

I have a SIM card with unlimited data that I'd like to use for my Android unit. Joying PX-5 that I have has two USB cables, so a 4G modem USB dongle sounds like a solution for this.
Are there ones that are recommended? Is it as simple as plugging the SIM card in, plugging the modem into USB cable and it has 4G connection every time I start the car? or are there any power or other issues I'm missing? I was also thinking of dedicated an old phone to the same task, but it has o be charged and I'm not sure Joying USB port is capable of doing that (plus the car sits for a week sometimes).
Any and all info is appreciated.
Does anyone have any info? Do I just plug the USB modem with SIM card into a USB cable and get internet, or do I need to install or enable something in the unit to use internet this way?
Got a Huawei E173 to try out. Upon plugging the modem in the, unit sees it after a few seconds of pairing and is able to access internet. However, turn the ignition off, turn it back on and the unit loses the modem. Unplug-replug the modem into the US cable and Joying pairs and sees it again. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
PS. Joying is one of the most useless companies I've ever dealt with. Emailing back and forth with them, I got them saying that this unit can work with a USB modem, this unit can't work with USB modem, they don't have a manual (!), they are not responsible for anything... Kids, don't buy crap like Joying. Mine was in the car when I bought it but if I ad to pay even $50 for this piece of crap (vs. $250 that it, apparently, cost) I'd be pretty upset.

12 pin usb connection

Hi,
I recently purchased a usb cable for my android head unit and the lead doesn't work. I didn't buy the unit so I don't know the brand etc. The unit was in the car when I bought the car.
I'm guessing the wires that plug into the usb connection are in the wrong order. I have no way of finding out the correct order. Does anyone on the forum know the correct order or even show me a picture of their usb cable.
I've bought 2 cables so far, neither of them have worked and they cost close the £100. It's very frustrating that I can't get them to work
Thanks in advance
What does the seller suggest and what happened when you tried that.
Also, with no information and detailed screenshots, how did you want help
When I plug in the usb cable and try any basic usb connections like phone chargers usb sticks etc. Nothing happens at all.
I've attached a screenshot from a product guide I found online if that helps.
If anyone knew which pins were for data transfer or voltage, that could help me loads.
Thanks
Measuring is the magic word. 8 pins will be connected in the original cable. (VBUS)+5V 2 times and 2x GND
...then you only have to find out what is D- and what is D+ for the data lines.
If you don´t want to measure: Open the magic box and have a look at the pins from the connector inside.
Just with your picture no one can tell anything. Each supplier does it´s own magic.
By the way... Connecting that wrong, may damage the internal USB-Hub and you can buy a new mainboard... just to mention. Trying around is not a good idea.
