Hi,
Does anyoen have nay experience with this head unit? I installed mine and I'm noticing its bit slow and has some hiccups, specifically in the audio (call audio is horrible but music sounds great) and reverse cam department (it lags and its slow to turn on)
MCU: G6-TS.210818(VHD-YT-9)

May be you find some guys with the same MCU in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...er-8667q-based-devices.4426823/#post-86789865
Otherwise... I fear this is not a unit where you can find a lot in the moment.

Hello,
I got a very annoying problem with my pumpkin head unit. Theres a noise, like when you place a smartphone close to speaker, which I hear all the time coming out of my car speakers.
Sometimes it's quiet and sometimes I hear that noise.
Is there any way to fix that?
My HeadUnit is (Description from Pumpkin Website):
Pumpkin 7 Inch Quad Core Android 4.4 Car Stereo DVD Player for Opel Vauxhall 2 Din support DAB+ AV Output MirrorLink 3G WiFi OBD2 DVR Steering Wheel Control
I run Malaysk Rom, but had this issues even with the standard ROM.
Would be happy if anybody could help me.

It's likely noise from the screen. Try turning the screen off and see if it goes away. It won't be easy to fix. Make sure all your grounds are as good as possible and make sure they are as direct to the battery as you can get. Noise like this is from a bad circuit design. It's the difference between an expensive well-engineered board and some POS from China. Yeah, I got one too, the Lollipop unit (self-rooted w/Viper).
If you only get the noise when the car is running it could be noise from your alternator or plug wires. That's harder to fix. You could use one of the crazy capacitors they make for car audio, but if you aren't running a 1000W, they can be overkill. I would try 1000uF cap across the 12V battery supply to ground, as close to the head unit as you can get it. Make sure the cap is rated at least 15V or so (it will see more than 12 from a car!). It will be electrolytic, so make sure you obey polarity. I'll be doing this myself later today.
May be worth a try running a wire from the negative of the battery post to the radio ground...I would just do it quick and easy in the driveway before trying to route it through the car.
Thank you for your support on that...
Unfortunately that sounds not that easy. I thought this might be a common problem with those head units :-/
I have a sound coming thru the speakers as well kinda sounds like a hard drive reading data when its booting up but goes away once its booted & running.
Might try running a better ground see if that helps.
Hi there,
Since this is my first post i want to say hello to everyone!
I decided 3 weeks ago to buy an android head unit for my audi a3, since i was bored listening radio or audio cd;s only...
Audi OEM RNS-E navigation was an option but it's too expensive just to have navigation, bt, and mp3 in my car... so i decided to go for an android hu that fits my dash...
I found this Xtrons android HU and bought it....
I was aware about the poor sound quality BUT it's actually VER VERY bad!!! on standard 10 speakers Audi sound system... (i was ready to root the device and use viper4android, or any hardware mod to improve the sound)
BUT I was lucky to find a BOSE sound system which i retrofitted on my car, and now the sound it's much better... like 8/10
NOW the last problem that i'm facing is some background noise, which i can't explain where it came from.
It only happen when i plug in the xtrons head unit. I swapped to the original Audi HU and there is no background noise. This means the background noise is picked up / generated by the Xtrons HU.
The noise is like a continuous "buzz" plus 2-3 pops and it only appears when the unit is on pause, mute or very low volume AND ONLY WHEN I SWITCH THE IGNITION ON (NO ENGINE RUNNING), if i revers the ignition to 0 position the noise disappears.
If the engine is running the noise is there, but is very hard to hear due to the diesel engine...
This noise IS NOT a wining noise, like an alternator generated...
Anyone encounter this problem? Is there any fix?
Tomorrow i am going to replace all the Xtrons HU extension cables (audio/video in/out) with shielded cables, and if doesn't work, i'll try some ferrite(s) maybe it helps...
Thanks!

I have that problem with my Erisin, too. Curious whether your new cables will solve the noise problem. Please post it here, if it worked out :good:

Hey you. Did the new cables solve the problem? I'm asking because I want to get rid of the annoying sound, too.

It's a pity ?
Did you also try a noise suppressor or something like that?

Hey,
Has anyone found solution to this annoying noise ? I have installed XTRONS unit in my audi a3 and can't get rid of it. Have tried already ground loop isolators and ferrite filters with no luck.
Hello all
I was wondering if anyone has this head unit, Joying 6.2 Inch Single Din Car Radio Android 8 Oreo 4GBRAM 1 Din Touch Screen Audio System, I just installed it. (sorry can't post link)
Many things seem to work ok, but when streaming from the audio player from my iphone 6s+ 11.3ios, it crackles predictably at various parts in a song. For instance, one song, which plays cleanly on my subaru stock hu, crackles crazily at exactly 15 seconds in. I actually suspected the audio file. Other audio files stop playing within a few seconds.
This is pretty disappointing, this is one of the main functions of this HU for me. I am looking into updates, but I bought an Oreo HU with the hopes the OS would have stable functions of at least the most used functions. Just wondering if anyone out there is experiencing this type of thing on 8.0 with the joying 4GB versions. Thanks
Did you ever get this sorted out I am looking at the same unit

I think so. It looks like the problem was playing media I did not have fully downloaded. So the player was making itunes download the media I own from itunes but didn’t have fully downloaded. While it was doing that, it was hitting bluetooth and wifi pretty hard and I heard cracking and stopping.
Streaming media that lives on the device worked fine. Spotify for some reason did not do this, so this was probably something to do with apple IMO. I am enjoying this head unit except for how light it is in full sun, its in an open top car.
thanks for letting me know. I have now ordered one.
Hi all,
I have a MTCD unit running original with a PX3 1GB.
In last years I already upgraded it to 2GB wich is running good.
A while ago I bought a PX5 board to upgrade but with the PX5 board I have issues playing video (IPTV, some Youtube/ Kodi movies/normal videos on USB etc). I hear the sound going on but video just freezes after some seconds.
I tried all the different roms malaysk, Hal9k etc etc but all the same problem. ALmost gets me thinking that it's a hardware accelaration issue or something.
When I switch back to PX3 all the video goes fine.
Is there some fix for it? I really play a lot of video in the car (also for the backscreens. in the headrests).
Did you try allowing the video while driving from options? For permanent allowance you can connect the BRK wire to some GND (ground). I had similar issue with youtube, video showed for a sec then turns white. I guess your case is the same, just does not repaint the video area and only freezes.
I ordered a PX6 4 /64 GB (MTCE_CHS) head unit with 720 p display and Android 9 for my Mercedes-Benz W211. I found a seller at AliExpress with great reviews so I felt safe to order from them.
This will be a short review which I hope can help someone who is looking for info before buying a Android Head unit, but I am also very thankful if someone has ideas how I can solve my problems.
Pros:
- Very sharp display with good viewing angles.
- Reverse cam works great in good lightning conditions.
- Fast startup from standby.
- Useful equalizer which makes it possible to get a great sound experience.
- Custom ROM, root, Tasker and FCC Launcher make it possible to customize the head unit in many ways.
- Very good GPS performance when connected to original powered GPS-antenna in car.
- Apple CarPlay works and looks generally very good, but has problems with sound mixing which makes it useless.
Cons:
- Handsfree sound quality sucks so much it's useless. Sound from the other persons is bad and they can't barely hear me. Tried with external microphone also.
- No auto brightness and max brightness is low in sunny conditions.
- General audio quality, there is constant background noise and interference from wifi, bluetooth and USB devices makes it worse.
- The head unit was supposed to be plug and play but I had to modify my car and use an dremel multi tool to cut the plastic in the car, which makes it difficult to go back to original head unit. This is normal according to seller but no info before buying.
- Android apps does not display well in a car head unit. Even when adjusting dpi it is difficult to find a good setting. Text and objects will be too small or too big, sometimes frustrating and dangerous to control music and navigation apps when driving.
- Android Auto is displayed in low resolution and looks bad, it also has problems with sound mixing which makes it useless.
- FM radio reception is bad, even though I use the original powered antenna in the car.
- General sound mixing problems in different apps.
- I had dust debris inside the display, which is visible with both display off and on.
Problems:
- I have an intermittent problem with a "popping" sound and at the same time the display goes to night mode for a second and reset the clock to 0:00. Tried to disable auto night mode in factory settings but no difference.
- Sometimes when opening a door or turning on the ignition there is a loud high pitch sound from the speakers, very uncomfortable, almost hurts the ears and scares the passengers.
- Sound mixing, when using Android Auto och Apple CarPlay, it will automatically lower music volume when giving navigation directions, but will not increase volume afterwards. So when you manually increase music volume again, next time the voice will be so high it almost destroy your speakers and ears. The navigation voice in Waze Android app gets cut 0,5 - 1,0 seconds to early.
When speaking to the seller they have problems understanding my issues, and just tell me to wait for MCU update (I already have the latest). Seems like they just want to delay so the time when it is possible to open a dispute will end.
What would you recommend me to do? Demand an exchange of my head unit and canbus decoder and hope it will solve the problems? Demand a refund and buy a Sony or Kenwood Android Auto / Apple CarPlay head unit?
Just accept the problems and issues and try to forget that I paid A LOT of money for the head unit and all the accessories?
There are dozens of different manufacturers and hardware types using PX6.
Post MCU type so people can know the manufacturer and type of unit being reviewed.

Sorry, it is a MTCE_CHS, I added the info to the first post.
I think that this highlights a general problem with the chinese android head units: They just aren't "consumer-ready". Don't get me wrong, they provide fantastic bang for your buck, but they all have their problems (many of which can be solved through help from this forum) and they all lack any decent support. Having said that, I also have a PX6 4G/64G unit in my car, and I just don't have any of the problems you mention. It's not without its annoyances, and I have had to work through several problems to get it sorted, but after just a few months I am very happy with what I have ended up with. The sound quality is fantastic to my untrained ears, and it all works fairly smoothly. I got a massive upgrade in functionality in my 21 year old car for not much money.
In your case, there seem to be too many problems that appear to be related to the hardware. I don't think that an MCU update is going to fix the issues that you list, and so If it were me, I would be returned the unit asap, and trying a different manufacturer, either another chinese manufacturer or one of the proven japanese manufacturers.
