Hi guys
I recently bought an OnePlus 2. With the original firmware, I experienced a very strange and very annoying issue: My screen randomly turned off (e.g. during a chat in WhatsApp). The screen turns off and I have to turn it on again by pressing the power button. Then I enter my PIN to access my phone again and it locks AGAIN. This happens like 10 times in a row, then I have to reboot the phone and it was OK again. I seriously don't know what triggered this issue.
However, recently I got pissed of because I tried to call one of my customers and as soon as I entered my PIN and tried to open the phone app, the screen locked again and I almost threw away my phone. Damned troll.
So I decided to try another ROM as I thought it was an OS-related issue. Now I'm running Exodus Android 6.0.1. I did a clean install and guess what: The issue came back on this ROM...
In my opinion there's only something both installations (my previous 5.1.1 stock ROM and my current 6.0.1 ROM) have in common: I've been using XPosed with Amplify, Greenify and XPrivacy. Other than that, I have no idea what it might be.
Have you encountered the same or a similar issue? If so, were you able to solve it? How did you solve it?
I just uninstalled Amplify, as I think it stops somehow the Gyroscope service, that's why it locks randomly. I'll check if the issue appears again...
I think I have good news for you guys: I guess I was able to locate the issue.
I noticed it always happened when I was holding the phone in the hand I had a ring on my finger. Then I found out the phone has magnetic sensors (for flip covers).
I downloaded the Xposed module "Magnet Sensor Control", the bug hasn't appeared so far!
I hope I was able to help you guys with my findings. This thread may be closed now.
HI Everyone
I've been having problems with the device within a few hours of getting it. I should have returned it to the store within the first 30 days but due to having all my apps installed and suspecting it was a software issue that would be resolved in a software update, I persisted with it.
The symptoms are that the device randomly locks up and is completely unresponsive and can't be unlocked. The only thing to do is press all four buttons and reboot it. When it locks up, the AOD is visible but the time has stopped. When I call the S7 from another handset, it does nothing and on the other handset I get a network message saying that I'm not available. Sometimes it seems to snap out of after 10 minutes, and other times I can leave it for hours and it doesn't change until I force it to reboot.
I've tried a factory reset and not installing any apps at all, everything stock except adding my Google account and connecting it to Wifi. No customisation, I've not changed the wallpaper, ringtones, nothing. But the issue persists.
Its been back to the store for a signal test due the issue being logged incorrectly as a signal issue. It passed the signal test and has had the latest firmware installed but the problem happened again today. I left the device for over an hour whilst I driving and then forced it to restart.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?
So, I have a very curious problem with my phone. Sometimes, randomly, usually when playing video, my navbar and statusbar disappear completely, and then everything just goes to black, my wallpaper comes up, and then my lockscreen. The phone just locks itself. I use fingerprint, but I need to enter the code to "enable fingerprint". I'm guessing System UI is crashing, but why?
I used to be on stock ROM (Marshmallow), stock kernel, rooted, and had Xposed installed. I had a ton of Xposed modules installed and frankly, I thought one of the modules was the problem. My phone would, as I described lock itself while doing somthing. It seemed to be random, but happened the most while watching videos on YouTube. Sometimes this would happen 4-5 times, and I'd find my wallpaper replaced with the factory default one.
I recently flashed Lineage OS 14.1 and ElementalX kernel, re-installed Xposed (though an incomplete version, the one made by the PurifyOS team) and enabled only 1 very minor module (Android Phone Vibrator). I was very unpleasantly surprised to see the same thing happening, yet again. Not necessarily after enabling the Xposed module . It only happened twice so far, (while using WhatsApp) but the symptoms are the same. My navbar and statusbar disappear, although this time the screen freezes, instead of turning off completely. I can still turn off the screen and open the power menu using the power button.
I can provide logs, or any other info necesarry really, but it's really hard for me to catch logs, because I can't reproduce the error. It's really driving me insane. Please, help me..

Well, that's pretty hard to do, since these "lockups" happen with long intervals not really consistently, so it'd be really hard to disable everything I installed and use my phone for a few weeks in that state.
@MMMedic Did you resolve your problem?
My Moto G4 Plus has started doing the same thing as you described, even down to changing the wallpaper.
My phone isn't rooted and I'm just using the stock Android.
I'm not sure what to do to fix it.
I think resetting your phone and start a fresh without restoring a backup and install only the apps you need would fix your issues..
Hi everyone!
I have a OP 2 for more than one and a half years now and never had any issues with it(stayed stock...) until recently. I didnt update the phone to the latest version and was putting it off, and today in the afternoon when I tried to unlock my phone it said the 'Fingerprint hardware is not available' and after unlocking the phone with the pattern, it IMMEDIATELY LOCKS ITSELF BACK !!! after split second it just locks the screen while everything is working like connection, wifi, messages, notifications, etc. but due to this I cannot access anything on the phone, can't go to settings and switch to onscreen nav bar buttons, can't force stop/wipe cache the com.fingerprints.serviceext either, tried restarting it several times, downloaded the update but can't even install it because the phone just locks!:crying: I have no idea what would fix it and I am avoiding a full reset and wipe on the phone(also based on all i have read, dont think it would fix it anyways)
If anyone knows whats the problem or has dealt with it or knows someone who has, please help me out here on how to fix this and what to do. I did not root it or flash custom ROM's on it yet and never had a flip cover or any sort of case so literally don't know why it happened.
Thanks in advance,
Max
Hi
I had the exact same issue with mine, I was on LineageOS and could access the logs so I was able to determine it was an hardware failure.
Went to a repair shop to replace the home button, and Bam it worked again.
If you didn't flash a custom ROM it is likely an hardware issue just like I had.
This is not a new issue for me but only just thought about posting about it.
Often when I reboot the phone, the always on display does not start when the screen is turned off, even though it is still enabled in settings. I often have to reboot the phone several times to get the feature to start working.
Not only that, recently I've been having random full system ui crashes, forcing me to reboot which usually triggers the previously mentioned issue.
I'm using substratum and LG package disabler and it might be one of those that's causing the issue.
Just wondering if anyone is having the same issue and how it can be fixed, preferably without a factory reset because I recently had to do that due to another issue.
Thanks.
