POCO M3 Boot issue plague - Does warranty help? - POCO M3 Questions & Answers

Has anyone had any luck with getting their deadboot POCO M3 permanently fixed after having sent it in for warranty?
I currently have a POCO M3 on MIUI 12.0.10 with the deadboot issue and I'm planning to send it in for warranty.
Please mention if you've sent in your M3 for warranty and had any good come out of it.
Thanks,

Update:
I gave in my Poco M3 with the boot issue for warranty just yesterday (Oct 18th, 2021)
It was a M2010J19CG running MIUI 12.0.10.0(QJFMIXM)
Will post an update again when I receive my device or a replacement (very likely it will be a replacement). Was informed it might take a week or two.

It was it's 4th or 5th time having the boot issue, I had to reboot it because most of the UI and apps were acting up, the camera didn't work at all, couldn't use the torch, apps were laggy and would crash. Thankfully I was able to backup all of my files, I did so and then waited till it dropped to 15%, I then rebooted it. Unlike the other times I faced the boot issue when I did actually manage to turn it on, it didn't this time. This final time it didn't turn on for 5+ days despite having rebooted from low percentage to tackle the drain times. That was it for me and so I sent it in for warranty.

[Q] Vertically jerking screen problem anybody?

Had been very pleased with this device in the the three months that I've had it. Until yesterday that is.
Basically the screen is jerking up and down on its own. When looking at the homescreen, the only way I can think to describe it is it's like 60% of the screen starting from the bottom is moving up and down by about 2mm on its own. I can see it eating pixels as it does so (it eats into home screen shortcuts). It also does this jerking motion when in an application or using a the keyboard.
I haven't dropped the phone, it hasn't got wet. It is completely stock unrooted and was bought SIM free in the UK in December and not tied to any network.
Things I've tried to fix it :
1.Numerous reboots.
2. Uninstalling the couple of apps that I'd installed around the time I noticed the problem.
3. Just done a full battery drain and now giving it a full charge keeping it switched off to see if does anything, (can't say I'm hopeful).
Next step is to back up / get my data off it and do a factory reset. Despite the bloatware, the stock ROM isn't too bad.
I was also thinking of just rooting it and running a cyanogen mod also.
Would be great if anyone has any ideas what I can try or if they've seen this issue before and remedied it. I can't find anything in Google and I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a random bad luck hardware problem -- which is worse than it might be on account of living in Southeast Asia -- but the device was purchased in the UK in December. Anybody know if there is such a thing as international warranty for LG phones ?
Thank you in advance.
I wouldn't root it send it to lg it sound like a serious hardware problem the g2 seems to be plagued with problems

Yeah I won't bother rooting it. A factory reset has made no difference and it's actually worse now and totally unusable, the screen just pogo's / jitters up and down an inch at time constantly.
The phone was bought on 22th of December, I'm pretty annoyed at getting little more than three months out of it. It would be understandable perhaps if I dropped it, or it go wet, none of these happened and the hardware has just failed for no reason.
For sure the LG repair centre where I livein Bangkok won't want to know as it was bought in the UK. And no doubt I'll get slammed for import duty both ways together with eating the postage sending back to the UK. I think I'll feel better taking a lump hammer to it and make a youtube stating what I think of £400 phones that last 2 months and carry no international warranty.
Have you dropped your phone?
Yep it is sad I hope my g2 doesn't go through the same thing i will definitely get a backup device sooner than later but like I said earlier the g2 seems to be plagued with problems which means the nexus 5 prob has the same problems maybe maybe not I'm a little nervous now because in the us most of us buy our phones locked with contract in the UK everybody buys there devices unlocked without contract from what I've heard if your looking for a new device I would wait for the xperia z2 looks very nice

Hello, same problem with me too, mine screen starts to jittering (like there is an earthquake inside my phone) after the latest update for kitkat, the updates says for optimising apps and such.
But recently i realize if i block my mobile data, and only using wifi for the data transfer, my phone stabilize much much better than when i used GSM/3G to do internet activity. When i used 3G my phone jittering like crazy, sometimes bottom half of my screen is gray pixels and bottom up of my screen dancing like crazy almost 70-80 % of the time. But when i block my mobile data and using only wifi, 80-90% of the time is OK, still a bit jitterish, but waaay much better.
There is also member of this forum experienced this and suggest to full cycle charger for couple of times. He say his phone stabilize after do full cycle charger (depleted ur battery until conpletely empty, than charge to 100% while turning off the phone). Im trying it tonight.
I also consult with some cellphone tech support (in shopping mall). They say maybe when i did my update, there are some data corruptions, so my phone did not update properly (corrupted). Because when you factory reset your phone, people said that it retain the latest update of software. So if you already did a corrupted update, it will stay even if you factory wipe the phone.
Seizure ?

It's a hardware issue, it's been discussed on this forum dozens of times. If nothing helps (including updating to the latest available version), send it in for repairs.

Nope, still my screen jittering...
Does anybody know how much LG would charge to fix this.
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
Im taking it in on LG Service Center this morning, the tech guy said its Hardware problem, about some sockets loose or something like that, He fix it and because im still have the warranty, so its free, no idea how much if the warranty is expired. And i still retain the KitKat OS (4.4.2). but my data is wiped out.
So far no jitters... I let you guys know if the jitters comeback.
phone automatic jerking
hello my s9380 phone have too much heating problem…during heat my phone is again and again restarting..also my phone is automatic touches screen and automatic jerking….can anyone help me how to solve my phone problem…my phone is rooted phone….
i have this flickering problem 1 week now i try to find a way to remove the rooted status on download mode so i can send it to warranty... anyone can help? flashed kdz with flash tool but rooted still stays red.. i tried to do factory reset using power+volum down but i cant do it...
Op...sounds like you have a faulty digitizer have you sent it in yet?
After 15 months own this phone, now this problem came to me too so unlucky because this happened after my warranty end...
Such a beautiful monster with so many hardware (screen or lcd) defects
I got same issue recently for many days, typically starts after turning screen on. Finally got it fixed by discharging fully and charging back again. No issue now. And I try not to charge phone too often only when battery is close to zero. Try charge and recharge a few times if it doesn't work. Works for me ?
Passing this on so others can benefit.

Huawei Nexus 6P random shutdown and won't boot without charger

Hi guys, I have bought a nexus 6P secondhand but I'm dealing with the problem of random shutdowns. After that it won't boot unless it is hooked to a charger. Some facts that I think might be of some influence or what I have tried:
- I bought it with Cyanogenmod 14.1, first day flashed back to stock 7.0 but kept my bootloader unlocked;
- Today I flashed an OTA update to 7.1.1;
- It happens random while using the phone, but I manage to reproduce the failure when using Google Camera and take pictures very rapidly (don't really know what the phone activity is at that moment)
- I've got a new battery on the way, might that be the issue?
- Battery status (percentage etc) doesn't make a difference. Might as well happen at 100%
- It doesn't happen while on the charger;
- It didn't happen in safe mode (didn't test this for too long though, but the fast camera action didn't kill the phone;
Does these descriptions make any bells rinkle? For me it looks like a defective battery but I'm happy to hear some expert about this
Thank you all for reading!
Yup, mine does the same thing. I believe it is supposed to be fixed with the new 7.1 release. Its the most inconvenient thing ever. I rarely takes pics now because nobody has a usb-c charger to get my phone turned back on. I'm running stock 7.0. It's not your battery.
Well that would kinda suck, I just updated to 7.1.1 and the problem is still there. Do you have a source for this thing?
I had the same random reboots.
I too suffered from random reboots in 7.1.1 dp2. They increased in frequency gradually. One night, it stuck in bootloop. Couldn't even boot into recovery. Browsed through threads here and reddit posts. All said the only solution was to RMA as without recovery nothing is possible. Huawei is replacing the motherboard as it's under warranty.
I just updated to 7.1.1 and I also can still confirm it's happen. I called huawei and they told me it was a software issue and it's not resolved and there is no fix other than to load 6.x on the phone. So basically, I we have a turd of a phone and nobody seems to want to fix it. Google told me it was a hardware issue and now Hauwei tells me it's a software issue. Maybe it's time for a new phone.
Just curious but have any of you flashed the official release images directly from Google through ADP with the FlashAll.bat command that it includes? Keeping your bootloader unlocked, but flashing everything to make sure your device is 100% stock and as fresh as it can be?
Messing with OTA's and other stuff like CM, I would definitely flash it this way and test it bone stock before venturing back into the Custom Rom land as major OS changes (from 6.0 to 7.0, etc) always seem to have residual glitches just like this.

I loaded the image directly from google. I've never rooted or loaded a rom on this phone. I've only run factory images. I don't have the time to tinker like I used to.
Well that is downright strange then. There really doesn't seem to be any device that doesn't at least have a small share of mystery in some of it's problems is there? Lol.
Well that was how I reverted from CM to stock 7.0, by using the flash-all function (even though the flash all didn't work, had to flash the seperate files, but result was the same). The 7.1.1 upgrade was with a OTA flash using ADB sideload because I was rooted and TWRP recovery was active, so the OTA update didn't work for me. To be honest, I don't think my problem is a software issue. Is there any 'deeper' software than the complete rom? Is the kernel flashed seperately?

This fiasco has been happening for tons of people for weeks now, including me. Mine was just 2 weeks out of warranty, both google and huawei are pointing fingers at each other and nobody cares. I have tried all the methods possible, to flash different versions of pure factory image, nothing worked.
What charger did everyone use to get it backup a running?
Mine just shutdown this morning and using the USB A-to-C cable on a computer/car/wall outlet it didn't even recognize it was plugged. Google wants to RMA it (third one in 14 months of ownership) and I'm fighting over their 5 days delivery time for a new one.
also face this problem previously and Huawei replace battery. just 1 week before the warranty run out

Every charger worked for me. Now even carry a powerbank with me for when it lets me down outdoors I can get it powered on again. Plugging it in the PC also works just fine. Even a standard samsung charger (with micro-usb -> usb C adapter) works.
hah! Mine just started doing this!
I got the phone back from huawei for the 15% battery issue.. and it came back with this issue after going to 7.1.1
Strange! Mine doesn't seem to be related to any firmware state. It had this with CM14.1, stock 7.0 (factory image), and 7.1.1 (OTA flash). The only thing that is in common is that the bootloader is unlocked. Can this have any influence?

Mine is locked, on 7.0 I didn't have this issue.. on 7.1.1 It started.
on developer previews for it wasn't an issue either..
This is the absolute worst. Phones dying consistently at 15%. Sometimes it'll even shut down at like 30-40%. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm getting a new phone.

That seems to be another know defect, you should look it up on here. Plenty of people are having that problem, but it is different from this thread.
I am having the same problem too! I was trying to raise this for two times on both XDA and reddit and no body seemed to care until you came up with this!
Mine randomly happens when taking photos with HDR+ and with the battery less than 50% (based on my observation). I replaced the battery by myself not long ago though.
Huawei says going back to 6.0.1 will fix the issue... and is blaming google, saying their pixel devices have this issue on 7.1.1 too.

Is the Nexus 6p Guaranteed to bootloop?

My Nexus 5X has just decided to die.
It isnt bootlooping, it just will not come on. It wont even open the bootloader. So i cant flash it or anything; anywayy, i purchased a Nexus 6p today because i wanted something similar to what i had been using, blah blah. So, i got home with it, and im looking at reviews and just come across the fact that its only bloody got the same bootloop issue that *might* crop up. Ffs. haha.
So my question is; am i to understand that the 6P will infact bootloop? Its just a matter of time? Or is it that it might not? I was afraid of the bootloop of my 5X and it lasted just over a year before its untimely death.
Should i flash it premeturely so it prevents it? Idk. Please can someone enlighten me?
Thanks Guys
K
It is not guaranteed but it is probable that it will happen at some point. I have had a Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X both bootloop.
I would suggest selling the 6P while you can and purchase a used Pixel if you want the same experience. You can skip Pixel 2 to reduce cost.

The 5X was prone to circuit board failure. It would do various things from deactivate the fingerprint sensor to make the screen go off and give the appearance that it wasn't turning on but in fact it just wasn't displaying anything. Not I don't know what truly happened to you but the 5x was pretty unusable at this point and the manufacturers didn't seem to want to do anything about it.
The 6p which is what I am using right now is victim to a CPU Hardware defect which can throw it into a bootloop. Not everybody will have it. Some people will take a long time to have it. I used mine for a year-and-a-half and I am still using it now even after it went through the bootloop issue. My recommendation to you would be to unlock the bootloader and to make sure that you have USB debugging turned on so you can be prepared to flash a fix if you have to. I was able to flash the boot loop fix without losing any of my data and although the phone is a little bit slower than when it was out of the box it is still a perfectly good and usable phone for day-to-day tasks and to do things like watch movies take pictures Etc. I do not know if my phone will decline to an even worse state but for now 2 years after getting it it's still running fine

We have two of them, my wife and I, and have for quite some time. Both were bought used. I keep them updated. So far no boot loops or any other issues. Been over a year for both of them.
I bought 2 Nexus 5Xs to my parents and both died after about a year and a half. Sent them both to LG, they fixed them for free. I think they replaced the motherboards, but not sure.
I bought mine in Sept 2015 - the week the device was released.
During that time I was horrible with charging patterns - sometimes leaving it on the charger for days at a time.
I've had to replace my battery once due to early shutdown happening at 50-60%, however at no point did I ever see signs and symptoms of BLOD.
My mom also has a 6P, and she's much better at the charging issues, usually leaving it dead for days lol. She's beginning to show battery issues, with early shutdown happening around 10-15%, however she got hers in April of 2016.
Have a 128gb Nexus 6p and it's still going without any issues.
No such problems with either of the ones I have had. Battery degradation I have had but never bootloops.

My wife replaced hers with a Pixel because of premature shutdown last year. The other day I put in a new battery and now it's like a new phone. I put my Moto Z in the drawer and use the 6P as my daily driver. I think it's on its final update so might as well unlock the bootloader and try out some roms. It runs well on Los14.1 and AICP13. Currently trying out SuperXE 8.1 with ElementalX 8.1 kernel

Strange Bootloop :( Phone dead? (x720 BaikalOS with Sergey's thermal)

Hi
I am on this phone since it released so i think that i am not a noob in flashing this Phone but now i have a realy strange Problem. Maybee my Phone is dead
I am on BaikalOS since 3 Weeks and have installed @tsongming recomended thermals from Sergey. It was working flawessly since 1 week.
Today i charged my phone form 30% to 80% and disconnected it from the charger. After this it was really hot Feeling in my Hand. I removed the bumper and was waiting too cool down. After 2 Minutes it started rebooting from itself but stucked in bootloop with a scary sreen. I see the leeco bootscreen and it went to White and black lines over the whole screen. Same Picture is when i try to enter recovery mode. So now its in Fastboot mode since 1h and its colder but i cannot boot into recovery or System (bootloop)
Should i try to Flash a stock Rom in Fastboot? I dont want to Damage the phone by myself so i am asking before i will do more.
I hope the motherbard is not dead
When i plug the phone to PC in Fastboot i see "Android Bootloader Interface" from "LeMobile" in the devicemanager.
Fastboot reboot comand works and AIO Tool Shows "fastboot device Ready"
Hope i can Rescue my phone.
Best regards Daniel

Sorry to hear about your phone: To be clear the thermals wouldn't cause that type of affect. In Fact, the Sergey thermals are exactly the same thermals that are already used inBaikalOS...They are native to that rom. So if you were using that Rom and you flashed the Sergey thermal you actually didn't change anything by adding the Sergey thermal. Because it was already being used.
Also the Sergey thermals actually have heat and battery protection measure built in : See my breakdown of thermals here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PXD91uBEs0hYvU1tMBq6Ld9Jc7Mm1FZxzwtsLwcmR6o/edit#gid=0
Here is the Github: As you will see the thermals would not cause this type of issue: https://github.com/BaikalOS-Devices...mmit/fc2ef2622ee4dbcbc4c6be512ca11825a37a4626
Now what could cause an issue is if you used a kernel manager and overclocked the cores with the MSM thermal turned off or set too high. But that would have to happen manually. Another potential cause is the usb C cable or charge block caused a short.
Have you updated the Rom recently, did you have Delta enabled, there was an update yesterday, that made my mother's phone hot. So I migrated her to Lineage.
Can you take a picture of what your screen looks like when you have the issue. and post it here.
---------- Post added at 10:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:49 PM ----------
If your issue is the motherboard, of course I hope that it isn't. I found a replacement board here:
This is much less expensive than what they were charging in November when I needed a new motherboard.

When you get the message take a picture and I will be able to tell if its a hardware issue or not.
There a symptom that can be resolved by using Qfil, and the other symptom is a solder short. Which technically could be fixed by resoldering the chip connection, and you would not need any parts. unless the heat damaged your LCD.

Thank you for your everytime very long and good reply
I know that BaikalOS and the thermals couldnt be the reason of damaging the phone. It was just for explaining what i have done with the phone.
I didnt upate the phone since 2 weeks or later, dont know. I wanted to update it yesterday and before i wanted to charge the phone a little bit. I think the fault was to use the original cable and fastcharge block..... but my wifes phone was charging with this setuo since an half jear so i didnt think it would damage it. Now i Know it better
I unplugged it at 85% and it was really hot. After 2 minutes it rebooted itself and was in a bootloop.
As i told i flashed the 23s yesterday via fastboot and know the strange screen only apperars when i try to boot into recovery. (i tried at first to boot into stock recovery that didnt work. After that i flashed TWRP 3.2.3 via Fastboot and i isnt working too.)
If this is a Hardware issue i am thinking about buying a new phone because i the le pro 3 is over 2 jears old and the battery is going to be bad faster and faster. So i was thinking about to change it for an month. Also the screen is showing an jellow circle in the left upper so i wanted to change it too.
When i would change this 3 things of the phone i dont know if its worth to do that when a new poco f1 only costs about 350€ direktly via amazon.de

Oh I am sorry, that is definitely a hardware issue. In fact, it is the same exact thing that happened to my older now a paperweight X727. Sorry for the bad news.
Its possible that one of your solder connections melted, and you may be able to repair it by disassembling the phone, taking out the motherboard, remove the heat shield, add flux and solder and bake in the oven for 8 minutes at 400 degree Fahrenheit. Its called a reflow.
https://www.win2uit.com/reflow-soldering/
Here is a link where someone had the same issue and repaired there phone using this method. : https://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/578393-why-my-lg-g3-boot-looping-blue-screen-2.html
I am going to try this method myself at some point, but I need to order a new lcd first.
I broke the LCD when taking apart my old phone.. If successful, I will create a how to tutorial since they are practically nonexistent. I have never tried it before, so it will be trial and error. But, there is no risk that old phone is just sitting in a box collecting dust.
I used to work with a guy that was a master at repairing computer motherboards using the reflow technique, I need to try a locate him, its been years since we last spoke.
Again, sorry for the bad news. I hope your replacement phone is something amazing. Although, many people are waiting until an inexpensive phone with a snapdragon 855 comes out. For me, the Poco phone still seems like a wise choice for $300 or spending a little more and buying a One Plus 6. Of course there is always the option of buying phone with a snapdragon 710 for under $300.
Take Care.

Thank you for the reflow infos.
I will try it when i have some time and if i am able to put the srceen of without breaking it
About a SD855 i was thinking about it too but i need a new phone fast because i need it for my work. I hope the poco will be nice, but i think so because there are many developers working on it.
I also don´t think that there will be an SD855 for about 300 to by and a new Poco F2 or something else isnt in plan. Maybee the first "Cheap" SD855 will come out in the end of this year.
There are 3 other le pro 3 in my family so i will read and write here too

Congratulations!
One thing about Xiaomi, they build quality devices and they are large and successful, so they aren't going anywhere. ( Like out of business anytime soon)
Plus they have an army of developers, with a Xiaomi device you have practically every option available when it comes to numerous versions of stock based Roms (which personally I love) or the multitude of available Roms.
The SD 845 is about 50 to 60% more powerful than our Leeco's and at its extremely fair price, I think its crazy to even consider spending more, unless you must have a glass back or a Amoled screen.
When you get everything setup, please let us know what you think about it. Thanks.
Hi just r recived my phone now. First impression is what you say its pretty fast and not bad quality. Battery etc i will tell you later. But the speed is really insane ?
Hi again. I finally rooted the device now and installed MIUI 10 stable. Now with magisk frankokernel servicely and naptime the battery is incredible good. 0,2% per hour in idle. Very cool. I only charge the phone in my car while driving with Android auto. It's enough power for a day. (I am driving about 1h every day. With maps, Amazon Musik, blitzer.de etc running.)
I have 2 Sims inserted and always lte, GPS high and Bluetooth for mi band 3 aktiv. Very impressive.
Also with MIUI 10 notifications are great. Never missing a WhatsApp etc. I think there is nn to flash a custom rom this time ?
So I would say it's a nice phone for this price. As it has no anti rollback and warranty also with open bootloader. The redmi 6 has anti rollback so it's not so friendly. Also it's not worth to buy a mi8 or mimix3.
Very happy with the new friend.

That is a an awesome review!
I am leaning toward the Poco myself. Although I was also considering the Mi8 Pro, I don't think its worth almost $200 extra for the Amoled screen when the POCO has everything else...spec-wise.
Thanks

Mi 9T battery too cold?

Hi all. Recently my Mi 9T running MIUI 11 has started having some battery temperature issues. The sensor seems to think my battery is -40C and so I keep getting obtrusive popups telling me my phone is too cold. Tried a factory data reset but no luck. I've put some screenshots of the issue up here. Anyone else experiencing this? I might try rolling back to MIUI 10 to see if that fixes it but I'm doubtful...

-40°? May be a broken temperature sensor. If it's that cold you most probably live on the north pole....
I recently updated from MIUI 10 to 11 by ota and temperatures are fine.
Sent from my Mi 9T using XDA Labs
I have the same problem here temperature stuck at -40 and then when I restart it flashes mi logo and won't start for some time. When the temperate is -40 it won't charge.
Also miui 11 update and a new phone (under 1 month)

Interesting... That's exactly the same as what was happening to me. I ended up sending the phone back to be repaired. It's worrying as I've heard so much good stuff about this phone. Guess it's not a widespread issue but still sucks. I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the battery/battery connector as I was also getting battery drain and at one point the battery percentage wasn't updating.
