Strange Bootloop :( Phone dead? (x720 BaikalOS with Sergey's thermal) - LeEco Le Pro3 Questions & Answers

Hi
I am on this phone since it released so i think that i am not a noob in flashing this Phone but now i have a realy strange Problem. Maybee my Phone is dead
I am on BaikalOS since 3 Weeks and have installed @tsongming recomended thermals from Sergey. It was working flawessly since 1 week.
Today i charged my phone form 30% to 80% and disconnected it from the charger. After this it was really hot Feeling in my Hand. I removed the bumper and was waiting too cool down. After 2 Minutes it started rebooting from itself but stucked in bootloop with a scary sreen. I see the leeco bootscreen and it went to White and black lines over the whole screen. Same Picture is when i try to enter recovery mode. So now its in Fastboot mode since 1h and its colder but i cannot boot into recovery or System (bootloop)
Should i try to Flash a stock Rom in Fastboot? I dont want to Damage the phone by myself so i am asking before i will do more.
I hope the motherbard is not dead
When i plug the phone to PC in Fastboot i see "Android Bootloader Interface" from "LeMobile" in the devicemanager.
Fastboot reboot comand works and AIO Tool Shows "fastboot device Ready"
Hope i can Rescue my phone.
Best regards Daniel

Sorry to hear about your phone: To be clear the thermals wouldn't cause that type of affect. In Fact, the Sergey thermals are exactly the same thermals that are already used inBaikalOS...They are native to that rom. So if you were using that Rom and you flashed the Sergey thermal you actually didn't change anything by adding the Sergey thermal. Because it was already being used.
Also the Sergey thermals actually have heat and battery protection measure built in : See my breakdown of thermals here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PXD91uBEs0hYvU1tMBq6Ld9Jc7Mm1FZxzwtsLwcmR6o/edit#gid=0
Here is the Github: As you will see the thermals would not cause this type of issue: https://github.com/BaikalOS-Devices...mmit/fc2ef2622ee4dbcbc4c6be512ca11825a37a4626
Now what could cause an issue is if you used a kernel manager and overclocked the cores with the MSM thermal turned off or set too high. But that would have to happen manually. Another potential cause is the usb C cable or charge block caused a short.
Have you updated the Rom recently, did you have Delta enabled, there was an update yesterday, that made my mother's phone hot. So I migrated her to Lineage.
Can you take a picture of what your screen looks like when you have the issue. and post it here.
---------- Post added at 10:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:49 PM ----------
If your issue is the motherboard, of course I hope that it isn't. I found a replacement board here:
This is much less expensive than what they were charging in November when I needed a new motherboard.

When you get the message take a picture and I will be able to tell if its a hardware issue or not.
There a symptom that can be resolved by using Qfil, and the other symptom is a solder short. Which technically could be fixed by resoldering the chip connection, and you would not need any parts. unless the heat damaged your LCD.

Thank you for your everytime very long and good reply
I know that BaikalOS and the thermals couldnt be the reason of damaging the phone. It was just for explaining what i have done with the phone.
I didnt upate the phone since 2 weeks or later, dont know. I wanted to update it yesterday and before i wanted to charge the phone a little bit. I think the fault was to use the original cable and fastcharge block..... but my wifes phone was charging with this setuo since an half jear so i didnt think it would damage it. Now i Know it better
I unplugged it at 85% and it was really hot. After 2 minutes it rebooted itself and was in a bootloop.
As i told i flashed the 23s yesterday via fastboot and know the strange screen only apperars when i try to boot into recovery. (i tried at first to boot into stock recovery that didnt work. After that i flashed TWRP 3.2.3 via Fastboot and i isnt working too.)
If this is a Hardware issue i am thinking about buying a new phone because i the le pro 3 is over 2 jears old and the battery is going to be bad faster and faster. So i was thinking about to change it for an month. Also the screen is showing an jellow circle in the left upper so i wanted to change it too.
When i would change this 3 things of the phone i dont know if its worth to do that when a new poco f1 only costs about 350€ direktly via amazon.de

Oh I am sorry, that is definitely a hardware issue. In fact, it is the same exact thing that happened to my older now a paperweight X727. Sorry for the bad news.
Its possible that one of your solder connections melted, and you may be able to repair it by disassembling the phone, taking out the motherboard, remove the heat shield, add flux and solder and bake in the oven for 8 minutes at 400 degree Fahrenheit. Its called a reflow.
https://www.win2uit.com/reflow-soldering/
Here is a link where someone had the same issue and repaired there phone using this method. : https://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/578393-why-my-lg-g3-boot-looping-blue-screen-2.html
I am going to try this method myself at some point, but I need to order a new lcd first.
I broke the LCD when taking apart my old phone.. If successful, I will create a how to tutorial since they are practically nonexistent. I have never tried it before, so it will be trial and error. But, there is no risk that old phone is just sitting in a box collecting dust.
I used to work with a guy that was a master at repairing computer motherboards using the reflow technique, I need to try a locate him, its been years since we last spoke.
Again, sorry for the bad news. I hope your replacement phone is something amazing. Although, many people are waiting until an inexpensive phone with a snapdragon 855 comes out. For me, the Poco phone still seems like a wise choice for $300 or spending a little more and buying a One Plus 6. Of course there is always the option of buying phone with a snapdragon 710 for under $300.
Take Care.

Thank you for the reflow infos.
I will try it when i have some time and if i am able to put the srceen of without breaking it
About a SD855 i was thinking about it too but i need a new phone fast because i need it for my work. I hope the poco will be nice, but i think so because there are many developers working on it.
I also don´t think that there will be an SD855 for about 300 to by and a new Poco F2 or something else isnt in plan. Maybee the first "Cheap" SD855 will come out in the end of this year.
There are 3 other le pro 3 in my family so i will read and write here too

Congratulations!
One thing about Xiaomi, they build quality devices and they are large and successful, so they aren't going anywhere. ( Like out of business anytime soon)
Plus they have an army of developers, with a Xiaomi device you have practically every option available when it comes to numerous versions of stock based Roms (which personally I love) or the multitude of available Roms.
The SD 845 is about 50 to 60% more powerful than our Leeco's and at its extremely fair price, I think its crazy to even consider spending more, unless you must have a glass back or a Amoled screen.
When you get everything setup, please let us know what you think about it. Thanks.

Hi just r recived my phone now. First impression is what you say its pretty fast and not bad quality. Battery etc i will tell you later. But the speed is really insane ?

Hi again. I finally rooted the device now and installed MIUI 10 stable. Now with magisk frankokernel servicely and naptime the battery is incredible good. 0,2% per hour in idle. Very cool. I only charge the phone in my car while driving with Android auto. It's enough power for a day. (I am driving about 1h every day. With maps, Amazon Musik, blitzer.de etc running.)
I have 2 Sims inserted and always lte, GPS high and Bluetooth for mi band 3 aktiv. Very impressive.
Also with MIUI 10 notifications are great. Never missing a WhatsApp etc. I think there is nn to flash a custom rom this time ?
So I would say it's a nice phone for this price. As it has no anti rollback and warranty also with open bootloader. The redmi 6 has anti rollback so it's not so friendly. Also it's not worth to buy a mi8 or mimix3.
Very happy with the new friend.

That is a an awesome review!
I am leaning toward the Poco myself. Although I was also considering the Mi8 Pro, I don't think its worth almost $200 extra for the Amoled screen when the POCO has everything else...spec-wise.
Thanks

Red Light Of Death - Should I Be Concerned?

Hey Guys.
I'm very excited to get my nexus 4 but I've been hearing a lot of people talking about the RLOD!!
What causes this problem and is there anyway to fix this??

the red light is just caused by using your phone the wrong way. it won't happen if you do not flash a custom rom anyway.
And if you flash custom roms it won't happen either, if you follow the standard steps you have to follow on every android phone. It's just a brick that can happen on every android device if you flash broken .zip's or anything else comparable .
People who claim this happened from a moment to the next without them doing anything wrong, are just not telling the truth. Even IF this would happen this way(not your own fault), you could easily get a replacement from google without any costs or problems.
Thanks for the reply,
Ive heard many people who had a completely stock and unrooted nexus 4 say they got a red light of death too... The problem is, I don't live in any of the countries that have playstore devices. So I'm having somebody from the US bring it for me...

propably you could check the rev of those n4's (asking them in pm's). i can't imagine rev11+ have this problem anymore. I still won't believe this happened without a reason

These many people you speak of? That's not even half possible for it to RLOD on pure stock without any mods it's just to save the hardware its the phones built in safety net...unless you plan on OCing to 1.98ghz and set it to performance and run antutu that will most likely do it for you
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Hi,
It happened wih or without running an Antutu bench. Yes some users have reported the red light on stock with rev 10 or with rev 11.
Antutu is not directly the culprit, it's due to a bad read of battery stuff (in a stress condition even at 50% battery the phone think you are out of battery then shutdown + heat, there is an issue with some phone about the battery contact inside the phone). If it's happen you can try to let your phone in charging for hours, sometimes it's enough. But the better thing is to open your phone then disconnect / reconnect the battery.
It happened also while flashing something in recovery mod, 40% battery, flash then reboot and bam red light...
Also on a French forum it happened during a download while browsing...
I agree we not know all the conditions together when it happened but it seems this is slightly random. Maybe a combination of circumstances...
It's "just" related to some weird battery reading issue.
For example I ran a bunch of Antutu bench with / without overclocking at different battery % (even at 11% battery ) without any issues, at least until today...
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36304348
So does this problem happen to everybody or is only a minority of nexus 4 users affected? Do you think google would've fixed this problem by now??
Re,
It seems it's a minority phones who are concerned...
I don't know if Lg / Google have worked on the problem. As I read maybe the rev 11 are less concerned? But I'm not sure...
Don't be afraid, use your phone and if that happens rma or open your phone, there is always a solution
Alright, read a lot of threads and it looks like removing the battery and starting it again works perfectly. I also read somewhere that its due to too much pressure being applied on the thing the connects the battery to the phone.. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128392&highlight=red+light+of+death&page=2
Yes, it's what I said, ah I forgot this link.
When you search, you find
Happened to me a few days after I got it (100%stock, not rooted); I left it charging for some time and it turned on again like nothing happened. Didn't happened since.
Only time I had it was when I first rooted.
It got stuck in a boot loop on the "X" screen and when I rebooted to clear the cache the red light flashed and I had to hold the power button in to turn it off.
Booted into recover fine after that.
No issues since.
Alright that's good to hear. When did you guys get your nexus?? Maybe google resolved this issue.
I got mine very recently ordered in late February. It did red light because I flashed a mod which was for the nexus 7 but i flashed it on my nexus 4. I just went into recovery and flashed stock, phone was fine.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Alright. Sounds good.
Got mine last week but it's a Rev 10 not an 11.

That is not true.. Red light appears due to some small chip next to the battery which is hardly put in there, you just need to release some pressure and it will be fine.. (there's a youtube video)
Loosen the screws?? Do you have a link to the YT video?
Ordered mine when they were first available, got it 2-3 weeks later (end of November).

Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2177787&highlight=nexus+4+bricked for more info. Now I try to drain the battery and let it charge (put it in a cold enviroment for a full 24 hrs. Got past the google logo for half a second and saw the stock recovery before it went dead again

Galaxy S5 G900F - Overheating when charging / Battery drain / HELP ME

Hi Guys,
Hope of you experts can give me some tips because at this moment I can't afford to buy new phone so...
My Galaxy S5 is showing big issues to me, when its powered off and plug in to charger (wirelles DIY charging + and - to wireles charging pins on phone with using original Samsung charger, my charge port isn't working so this is my last resort, please don't judge me I simply can't afford new phone ) It bercomes really hot. Also when I power it on it becomes hot too (around 47celsius) and battery drains fast. In past I didn't have this problem, yes it was charging really slow but at the end when it reach 100% my battery lasts for two days (using greenify, and with all low settings) ...problems started two days ago. Bad thing is I can't connect it to Odin and make factory reset to stock rom so I wipe all and install fresh custom rom (XxX no limits, full debloated) from my SD card, but problem is not gone. I check out battery on my table and it is ok (also battery condition says: good).
What I can feel is not that battery is geting hot but cpu. So is there any chance to fix that? I already try several apps but with no luck
Maybe you guys can give me some tip like how to back to stock rom (and kernel) but with install from SD card as I can't acces Odin because of bad charging port....or any other tip is more than welcome as I can't afford new or used phone and S5 is still big thing for me according to its performance and other things...please help...
Thank You!
nobody?
Replace the god damn daughterboard with the microUSB 3 port. It will be better than going further with your stupid "wirelles" charging idea which can damage the phone. Don't be that cheap. Earn more money. Why did you buy it if you can't afford to keep it running?

Hi dear friend, tnx for your kind reply,
Well... I got 16yo, don't have adress (you never know who is on the other side of the line and whats the story behind) to even order it from your family. I got this S5 as a gift from my mother who pass away last year. After spending some time with this fabulous phone (yes, I open it and reasamble even without heat gun )...I menage to fix it.
Everyone of us got that courious technician inside and lucky to me I go to technician high school so I know the basics of safety...etc.
Now I got almost new S5 (battery lasts for almost two days) fixed all by myself wich proves power of the will and quality of components that Samsung puts inside their phones.
Long live Android, Samsung and all other open source runned phones...also want to say special tnx for one high reputable person from this forum (he insist to stay anonymous) who encourage me on private msg to keep investigation as I refuse to recive his old android phone.
Sometime you gotta (or need) do DIY. <3 XDA ...Keep it going! <3

Unusable Note 4 Overheating, I think

I have a Note 4 that is stock that started randomly restarting. Then it couldn't even boot all the way up. I noticed it was getting very hot near the sim card. After letting it sit for a day, and cool off, I think. I was able to get into stock recovery and do a factory reset before it froze again. However, it still can't even boot all the way to the welcome screen. I assume it is a hardware issue. Any advice on what to repair/replace to fix this? Is it the motherboard? Thanks.
Hi, you could try to flash the stock ROM of the Android version that you're using. If that doesn't help, it's most likely an hardware issue and you have to send it to Samsung or get it repaired otherwise if possible.
Thanks. I am pretty sure it is the motherboard that has gone bad. It won't stay powered on long enough to flash a rom.

Can you access the download mode of your device long enough? If yes, you could use the software Odin to flash the ROM.
If no, I guess nothing than Samsung itself can help you.
when my note 4 died suddenly during the day- having had issues like freezing, laggin and restarting since MM6.0.1- I thought it was ready for the burial but I read online somewhere- too many google pages LOL- to take the battery out, put it to chill in the fridge for 10 mins (I left mine in for 30), take it out and put the battery back in . Totally resuscitated!
Now using Wakelock app and all is- fingers crossed- well i.e.: no more lagging, freezing etc.
(I somehow could not flash custom firmware using my Mac after 3 tries- )
That's EXACTLY the case with mine right now, did you figure out the problem and if you did would you please be so kind and tell us what was it, i'm majorly desperate, i'm thinking a short circuit.

Sorry, no. I was going to replace the motherboard, but didn't find a good deal on one and gave up.

Thanks for the quick reply, guess i should probably follow up too, i'll try to remove the shorting using Elma's solution and if it doesn't work i'll just throw it out, a new motherboard costs as much as a whole new phone, and yeah your Note 4 was shorted as well, most likely due to a poor quality battery or a bad Charger/USB cable or excessively using it while charging.

Been trying to fix my 6p, it's not in bootloop, however

... it only reboots itself when it is NOT charged and run a heavy CPU app.
So the phone is usable. However when I run youtube without charging, it might have a chance to reboot. The phone had already changed battery few months ago and it was running fine until the Oreo patch, then it starts to reboot itself randomly. I've done the 4core patch (TWRP 3.2.1) and the phone is slow as hell (as expected). Google chrome seems to seem to use all 8 cores and cause the phone to reboot still.
So the scenairo is that if it's charging, the phone won't have any issues except for slowness. Battery is getting worst and worst everyday like the battery issue that shows up among 6p users. But this battery is pretty new.
What else should I patch this with? Maybe I never did it right?
Build - OPM.5.171019.015
Kernel - 3.10.73.9

What kind of battery did you replace it with? Because I read that these non original batteries cause a lot of problems.

Grabbed it from ebay. One of the many "oem" batteries that comes from China.....
Of course I won't know if they are all fake or not since they don't make them anymore. Upon search for them again there are many of the same but older manufacture dates that I can see in photos.

Yes you can tell the original battery's ribbon cable is kind of fat while the newer ones are thin and it also has a temperature sensor built in the battery while the non originals don't . Here's a pic to show you what I mean left is the real original and the right is a cheap knockoff

I bought mine on eBay awhile back but I found this one. Its a little expensive but its worth it in the long run.https://m.ebay.com/itm/Original-Bat...wei-Google-Nexus-6P-H1511-H1512-/173100893141

Thanks for the pointer in regards to the temp sensor on the battery. Almost 90% of those ones are fake on ebay.
However after brainstorming some ideas and looking through some threads. I was able to root the 6p and clock down the CPU a nudge. It was already running on 4 basic cores only and had to clock them down to 960mhz. This way the phone was able to be use without charge most of today until battery hit 50%.
This is just my temporary solution. Will see if I want to put in another battery to have this last a little longer.

surprisingly most batteries (Even blatant knockoffs) have the advertised capacity, except the 3600 mAh ones. Just grab a Cameron Sino or one of the original-looking ones and you'll be fine
I got a replacement OEM from the states for 5 quid - it was the cheapest on ebay at the time. Works perfectly. My phone returned to it's formal glory, except for Quick Charging which was broken before.
Just ordered this one: it's supposed to be for the Axon 7s which I think as the same structure inside, so it must fit well. Seems legit, 3320mAh as the Axon 7s is 3400 mAh
Battery Aliexpress
And 2 speakers as the bottom one seems non fonctional and the top one is not sounding good anymore
3650mAh-LI3931T44P8h756346-Battery-For-ZTE-Axon-7-Battery-5-5inch-A2017- Have anyone tried this 3650mah battery

I'm still waiting for the battery, this is Aliexpress
For the 3650 mAh, just a little search on the forum will answer your question, or a search on Aliexpress. SPOILER: it's a 3200mAh
Just received my battery.
Just a reminder, it was supposed to be a battery for Axon 7s which has a greater capacity.
The battery I received is a standard yellow one for Axon 7 with ZTE logo.
I'm too busy to install it right now, I hope it's a legit one and has a standard capacity.
Conclusion: you can't find any Axon 7s battery
I ordered mine off Amazon called Cameron Sino like someone here said earlier and it's working good for now I hope it stays this way for a while. I've read about 3rd party batteries degrading too fast compared to oem ones. Almost doubled my battery life compared to a 2 year old battery i was using before this
How difficult was it to do the replacement?

For my first time I would say not too bad but I did end up scratching the speaker grills and ordering a replacement. To me, getting the speaker cover out was harder than the actual battery. I've posted some sot screenshots in a different thread if u are interested in seeing them. And as a first timer also have advice for others who want to try it as well so they don't make the same mistakes as me. It can be worth it if u don't care about keeping your device that mint anymore. But it can still also be mint depending how good u are at replacing it. If u use a case, the scratches can be covered up anyways. Imo I would say only do it if u had your phone for too long or got bored of it. Once u know how to do it perfectly, this can almost futureproof the phone and u might not feel like switching anymore. Another time to do it could be when u order an already used one for less than half the price of a new and have nothing to lose. Replacing the battery will make it feel new again and u just got yourself a good deal. There are a bunch for sale either on swappa or ebay. I think people usually sell their phones because battery degradation is the main reason and they went for a new phone instead of replacing it themselves
I need a battery replacement too.
I get 1.30 hours screen on time and Battery Saver is enabled all the time.
If I use WiFi I lose 1 percent every 30/60 seconds.
I need it mostly on screen.
I checked accubattery multiple times once it said 1.950 mah left and now 2.150 mah.
I'm running Android 9 but I got worse results on older Versions of Android. I don't even play games now.
Is this all battery fault?

Yes probably!
So you get better battery performance with Android 9 than Stock Oreo beta?

Go on Youtube, it's an easy process once the phone is oppened. Just mind to reconnect carefully all the cables

Sorry for the late reply. I posted a few screenshots in schwifty kernel thread but u have to go back a few pages. There are more than 1 post with 3 different days if u go back more

Right now I'm currently testing oreo beta rom which can't use that kernel

I dunno if you replaced your battery since posting, but I had the same levels of battery degradation as you. I just changed my battery... And this thing is flying again and not feeling like it'll shutdown after 3-4 hours of use. It's crazy how much my device was throttling with the old battery.
Be careful not to damage the screen ribbon. Also not to over heat the grills distorting them. The glue on the camera glass has to go during assembly.
