My phone suddenly has a dead screen. I can't see anything but I can hear the ring when someone calls. I restarted 3 or 4 times now using the volume down + side keys but I can't see the logo at all. I can hear the sound when I plug the chager in, before and after the restart.
Please HELP!!!
If it had recent water exposure an immediate battery pull, ASAP.
Otherwise warranty repair time...☹
Sounds like a display or mobo failure.

Try booting into recovery mode (volume up & power button). Scroll down to "Wipe Cache Partition", that is, if you can see anything at all.
Then, scroll up to the reboot option, see what happens.....

I rebooted it but can't see anything on the screen. Looks like the LCD is dead.

You're chasing your tail. It's almost certainly hardware. In any case even if it is firmware you have no way to flash it now.
It may simply be a connector came loose.
It's not a liquid crystal display, it's a active matrix organic light emitting diode... display.

Recently, I had mine black screen of death, too. This cannot be fixed with software tricks. I have to send it to service shop, to which they said the chip that run the screen was dead. On some phones, just replace this chip will do the work and it's cheap (40$), others have to replace the whole screen which cost around 200$. Where are you bro? if in vn i can give you the shop's address, they do very good service.

That sounds cheap for hot air work plus chipset; most shops can't even do this.
The display replacement by Samsung is $269 which isn't bad.
Regardless it's valuable enough to repair.
I'm in the US. Tmobile said they will replace it but don't know how much it costs. They sent the replacement to the store and will see if they charge more more than $20 that said they would.

aright previously my LCD screen was cracked well i got the replacement LCD screen and it works fine. BUT my problem now is that its just displaying a white screen. Nothing else. I take off the battery put it back on turn the phone on and i get a white screen no letters no nothing.
Does this mean my phone is a brick?
i still get response when i hold down the comm button it vibrates. The volume slider responds with the volume going up and down. and when i try to hard reset via holding the comm button, voicebutton, camera button and hitting the soft reset button it responds to it and resets the phone apparantly.
So i know for a fact the actual phone works..but its not displaying anything but a white screen...is there anything else i can do ?
If you have replaced the screen yourself, it may be worth trying to re-fit it again. Make sure the connectors are in pefectly, and make sure there is no dirt on them. If the pda still responds to button presses, it's fine, it's only the srcreen that's damaged/non-functional...
To see if this is the case, try tapping on the very to left of the screen, and see if you get the start menu pop. If you don't it's prolly the connector not plugged in properly, if you do, then the connector may be damaged...
ok im trying now..but how could it be the screen if the screen is giving me a perfectly white screen and its been tested to be working correctly?
sweeet i reconnected everything and it worked thanks for the recommendation dood much appreciated

Nice to see that my reccomendation worked for you. I've never replaced a colour LCD screen before, but some of the B&W ones i've replaced have had similar faults. It's the same with old cartridge games if you think about it, you used to have to blow on them ocasionally...
Modern technology may be perfect in every respect, but the manufacturing methods arn't.
I got the mda vario from tmobile uk. I dont know what happen. Different colour blue, red, white vertical lines that start from up to down. If I connect the device to the computer or to the charger the orange light is on. PLease HELP ME!!!
Sounds like a graphics hardware problem to me - but worth trying a hard reset first - turn device off, hold comm and record buttons at the same time, turn device on still holding buttons - text should appear on screen, press green (call) button and hard reset should begin. Make sure you have backed up any important data before you do this.
im having this problem too, but my lines turn black and only effect half the screen. It starts with the screen going fuzzy.
I've had this happen when the phone was charging and it caused temporary screen burn because i recieved a text.
I try hard reset but nothing. It changes a lot of colours...
Sounds like a graphics hardware problem means that there is no hope?
Thanks anyway!!!

Isnt it under warranty? If it is get it repaired - if not maybe a loose connector inside, could be worth a dis-assemble and push all the connectors tight. Or if your not up to that take it to someone that is.
Unfortunately I dont have any warranty!!!
I find the disassembling manual but do you know where can I find the screws and other staff in the uk? Do you have any idea?
Otherwise I live in York Uk, do you know any place near here?
This place does pda repairs http://www.gpsmidlands.co.uk./

I dropped my S4 the other day and cracked the glass but it continued to work. A few days later I picked the phone up and hit the side button to bring up the display and now all I get is a flash and the screen remains black. Rebooted, pulled battery and still does the same. You can still hear emails coming in and when I get a phone call I can swipe the screen and take the call but it remains black. The only thing that lights up is the led and the menu and back button. I took it apart looking for a loose cable but saw none. Any ideas? New digitizer?

Hey there, I'm having some serious trouble with my S4 i9505, I recently did a LCD and digitizer replacement, and the connectors are connected, but the phone boots up with a green screen (pic included) the blue led notification light turns on, and the boot up music plays, then the home row button backlights turn on, and it also makes notification sounds, so it's alive... but nothing visually so to speak. I've tried almost every troubleshoot suggestion under the sun; but to no avail. Anyone else out there who has experienced this and could give some insight as to a solution? Much appreciated, thanks.

If the connectors are connected then the screen is probably dead.

I doubt it, since the screen does flicker when I press the power button rapidly a few rings, and the LCD and digitizer are brand new, replacement parts I had ordered, so not sure what the underlying issue is... going to take it into a repair shop it seems.
i have a S6 Edge+ and its got a cracked screen. it has a big black spot the size of a fingertip on the right middle like something stabbed it maybe.
sometimes when i got to wake it up, phone is on and i press the power button the lights on the bottom come on, the cascade window button and the back button............but the screen does not light up. it kind of flickers and i see the permanent damaged part, a green strip down the right side of screen but does not turn on.
sometimes i have to press the power button to wake up and put to sleep 6 or 10 times for the screen to light up.
my question:
do you think this is simply from the screen being damaged.
have you seen anything like this before on a phone
do you think if i spend the money to fix the screen this issue will be fixed?

Fixed by Sony, phone is insured.
Yes, take it to Samsung store to repairing.
Ok, I have booted into safe mode and the problem does not exist. this means its a sofware issue, obviously. Here is the dilemma, I have done factory and hard resets to include the cache partition. How might i go about fixing this issue until they release a new update from android 5.1.1???
Can anybody tell me what core we use to put the touchwiz snappier, I saw one one topic but I can't find it now. We only have to put the code and the phone was so quick like the day we Unbox the phone. Thanks
