[Q] S4 i9505 boots up to black screen, no boot logo - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there, I'm having some serious trouble with my S4 i9505, I recently did a LCD and digitizer replacement, and the connectors are connected, but the phone boots up with a green screen (pic included) the blue led notification light turns on, and the boot up music plays, then the home row button backlights turn on, and it also makes notification sounds, so it's alive... but nothing visually so to speak. I've tried almost every troubleshoot suggestion under the sun; but to no avail. Anyone else out there who has experienced this and could give some insight as to a solution? Much appreciated, thanks.

If the connectors are connected then the screen is probably dead.

I doubt it, since the screen does flicker when I press the power button rapidly a few rings, and the LCD and digitizer are brand new, replacement parts I had ordered, so not sure what the underlying issue is... going to take it into a repair shop it seems.

G1 Screen problem

Hello, My G1 has just suffered a problem, i was scrolling down a web page and the screen faded out like it had lost power but the backlight was still on, the keys lit up and it still could make the trackball clicking noise when you moved it. I took out the battery and left it for 5 minutes and rebooted my phone and the screen turned on for about 3 seconds and faded out like before but it did boot into android as I heard the notification/startup sound. I think that the screen has burnt out but im not shore so has anybody had this problem before and/or might know how to fix it
Just some more infomation, If the screen dies and I leave it for a few minutes, when I unlock it or slide the screen up, the screen works for a few seconds but then fades. Also the fading looks like the screen lost power or like its losing pixels
From my experience with phone hardware this doesnt look like screen problem, but rather the lamp driver in the motherboard. the only way to narrow down is test the motherboard /screen with another phone.
If this is the case, it might require servicing the backlight driving circuit, which by far requries soldering/desoldering some components in motherboard.

Thanks for the replies, it seems that it has fixed its self as I've been using it for about 5 hours and no problems so far, I'm using it right now to type this, if the problem persists I will try and fix it or just buy a new one

[Q] Phone doesn't show anything

My LCD screen broke so I replaced it and connected everything the way it should be. I then tried to turn it on and it doesn't show anything. When holding the power button for 3 seconds, the screen turns on showing a light gray color then it blacks out. My phone works as I tried to call it and it rang however I can't pick up (not because the digitizer is broken) but because I can't see anything. Any suggestions would help.
I have the same problem, *bump*
any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Screen dead, but touch screen works?

A few weeks ago, my Galaxy S4 screen started flickering green and it would go back to normal when I would put the phone to sleep. Then yesterday, the screen went completely dead. The vibration motor, button backlights, speaker, and notification lights are responsive, also, I can feel the phone vibrating when I unlock my phone indicating that the touch screen does indeed work. The screen remains completely black through all processes, bootup, recovery, download mode, all black. Can anyone help me with where to begin in the repair process? My gut feeling is that it's the GPU.. is that possible? Is it the digitzer? I appreciate any advice as I have no warranty. :crying:
My guess would be that you need to replace the lcd.

Samsung Galaxy S4 black screen and responsive to touch and sound

Hello, I am new to the galaxy world and have a question. I have an S4 that turns on and vibrates when powered on. The screen flashes a quick green and then goes black and stays black. It makes noise when the samsung logo comes up. The screen is responsive and all the buttons work. I am curious is to what needs to be replaced or what to try and fix the issue. Is the didgitizer bad or is the whole lcd display bad. I guess any help at this point would be great. Thanks in advance.
had same problem

I was recently flashing a recovery and at one point I had my battery out and still had my phone plugged in. I look at my phones screen and it is doing this weird flash white static every once in a while thing. Next time i try to start up my phone Boom Black. the only way i found to work around is that i recovered so that it would bring me to the original start up screen where this is an accessability options tab there i was able to turn on screen prompts so it tells me what my finger is on and lets me dbl tap to sect. then with headphones on i spent a day getting it to where i can do h/w testing. still cant figure it out tho

no screen backlight

Hi, i know it's an old issues and few solutions are posted out there, but none worked for me.
symptoms: phone turns on with sound, vibration and top led, menu and back buttons all lit, but screen black, it even responds to touch from the sound it gives.
although, i noticed a way to bring the screen alive for sure is to plug usb cable to to charger then turn it on and screen comes alive.
i don't think it's hardware problem, or flex cable disconnected, because when it turns on it works flawlessly, and as many know dismantling the s5 to check is a real pain.
and if it's a software glitch, is the MM update that's coming out will fix it?
anyone with real knowledge of this issue and ow to fix it, please help!!!
flash stock using odin maybe? idk
