I have been updating my camera software from various xda posts and they have all failed. So i uninstalled and went back to my normal software (htc camera 4.0).
Now, when i put the flashlight on, it does not come on (flashlight works with VJCandelaLite) and i able to capture videos but not pictures ("unable to capture photo").
Even when i try a program like cool camera or any of them. They do not work and they come up with a different error. "a problem has occurred with filesys.exe"
Any ideas what to do, other than a hard-reset. Is there a program that might have caused a conflict?
Is htccamera.dll corrupted from the many different versions installed?
Thanks
Hi, I have a rooted nexus 4, which I accepted the kitkat update for and as a regrettable result, my phone was stuck in a bootloop.
I eventually saw it as the only solution to wipe my phone, unroot, install the 4.4 from nexus root toolkit, and then re-root, and restore the data I managed to back up.
Everything seems fine, however, my camera won't save images at all. This is the same when it comes to camera applications.
With the nexus 4 camera application, the picture shows and takes, but it just saves as a blank square
With the same application; the video is ready to take, but when I press the record button, it says "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped working"[Report] [OK]
With a custom application I downloaded called Camera 360, the picture takes and edits, but after saving it and going to view it, the thumbnail shows fine, but when you click the thumbnail it says the picture was not found and to delete.
I can take snapshots and send them fine, but can't save them.
On whatsapp, I can take a picture as an attachment and send it straight away before saving, and it sends fine to whoever.
It would seem the issue would lie with pictures saving to the local memory. I've tried rebooting, restarting camera application, clearing data/cache, none of which have made a slight difference.
Any solutions, prefferrably without having to go back and un-root and re-install and everything.
Thanks.

... whenever I try to open a freshly taken picture from within the camera app...
Before I start: the people over at reddit couldn't help me and it's been a couple of weeks since I asked for help there. I hope you don't mind me posting the exact same post from there.
I can open the gallery app just fine though but I am unable to delete photos with it. I wiped my phone half a dozen times already and this always happens after using the phone for a while. Tried safe mode and it still didn't work. What is happening?
When I use Open Camera as my Camera and QuickPic as gallery everything works just fine. I even can delete the photos I've taken within QuickPic.
This behavior started just recently, after I did a software update I guess... Bought The phone in November
Phone: Galaxy S8, SM-G950FD, UNROOTED
Software version: Nougat, Phone says, I'm on the latest version. When I hit software update this is what I get:
G950FXXU1AQL5 / G950FOXM1AQL5 / G950FXXU1AQL5
Gallery version: 5.3.05.301
Camera version: 7.1.10
ALMOST FORGOT: Instead of the most recent picture thumbnail next to the shutter button this appears: https://imgur.com/ZuXco4x
Edit: lol I can't even change my wallpaper because of this stupid Gallery App...
Edit 2: Google Play Music is able to play my local sd card files again - let's see how long that lasts...
Edit 3: When launching the camera from lockscreen I can access the gallery just fine... strange things are happening here :/
Camera on my 6t focuses initially, ( when screen touched ) but after "fire" button is pressed, goes out of focus an instant before capturing image. Image is indeed out of focus.
This happens on all of the camera apps I've tried, but does not happen when capturing images within Google Voice, which I use for messaging.
I've looked for info on this problem online, and although I've found a number of other problems mentioned, I've seen nothing on this, specifically.
Screen recording and video below illustrates the problem. Any insights into this issue greatly appreciated!

Finally someone with the sane problem as I! Did you figure out what's wrong. I've tried installing Gcam and OOS camera apks but they fail to open.
Looking forward to your reply.
Open Camera is the only app which reliably focuses for me.
A Solution, Perhaps?

Sorry for the delay. I wasn't monitoring this thread.
I loaded Open Camera, which seems to provide a solution. In the main camera screen, there is a camera icon with a "+". This allows you to select a specific Camera, though I'm not sure exactly what is being "selected". Cameras 2 and 3 seem to work, while Camera 1 has this focus issue.
In addition, in the camera settings, there is an option to select "Camera API". Camera 2 API allows manual focus, something I was looking for. Let me know if this helps...

Amazing, that made my day. OpenCamera lets me use either the bottom or the top camera but also the combination of both to produce a blur effect in a similar way to the stock ROM. I didn't think that was possible without stock.
Up until now I would just reboot my phone and the out of focus issue was gone for a little while. This is much better though.
It makes me wonder : I also sometimes have an issue with the flash where the timing is just ever so slightly wrong, i.e the photo is taken just a split second after the light flash, which effectively gives the same result as if the flash was turned off. Again, a reboot fixes it temporarily. Does any of you also have this issue ?
Some people started seeing this when upgrading to One UI 3.0 but I just noticed the crash when my S10+ (G9750) patched with March 2021 Security update running UI 3.1.
Shooting any photo takes long time to complete refining process and eventually error pop up with "Camera Failed" message. App crashed and restarted itself.
Photos can't properly be saved on phone. Taken photo not found.
No reboot to phone after crash.
So far only Camera app failed to work.
Tried clear cache, data of Camera app and didn't help.
