Hi, I have a rooted nexus 4, which I accepted the kitkat update for and as a regrettable result, my phone was stuck in a bootloop.
I eventually saw it as the only solution to wipe my phone, unroot, install the 4.4 from nexus root toolkit, and then re-root, and restore the data I managed to back up.
Everything seems fine, however, my camera won't save images at all. This is the same when it comes to camera applications.
With the nexus 4 camera application, the picture shows and takes, but it just saves as a blank square
With the same application; the video is ready to take, but when I press the record button, it says "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped working"[Report] [OK]
With a custom application I downloaded called Camera 360, the picture takes and edits, but after saving it and going to view it, the thumbnail shows fine, but when you click the thumbnail it says the picture was not found and to delete.
I can take snapshots and send them fine, but can't save them.
On whatsapp, I can take a picture as an attachment and send it straight away before saving, and it sends fine to whoever.
It would seem the issue would lie with pictures saving to the local memory. I've tried rebooting, restarting camera application, clearing data/cache, none of which have made a slight difference.
Any solutions, prefferrably without having to go back and un-root and re-install and everything.
Thanks.

Hi everyone. Its my first post on this HTC Glacier forum. My wife owns the Glacier but I don't really have time with her phone to mess with it and figure this out myself (we are both very busy through out the day). The stock gallery shows no media (pics or videos) in my phone, but I have QuickPic installed and it shows all the pics and videos. It wouldn't be such a problem cuz I don't care for the stock gallery itself (I prefer QuickPic) but if you are texting and decide to add a attachment there is no option to use Qickpic to get that file (only the stock gallery). You would have to use QuickPic to view the file first then from there use the share option to sent it as MMS, but since my wife is learning to use the phone (she came from a Blackberry) she finds it anoying that way. I later installed the Gallery 3D to check it out but it also shows no media in her phone.
The phone is pretty much stock 2.2.1, perm-rooted with Visionary (haven't done the s=off option though). Thank for your time and I'm sorry if this has been discussed cuz I searched but didn't find it

I can't give you a solution to your problem, but I'm pretty sure the stock messaging app lets you take the pictures from QuickPic. I do it all the time.
Try going into "Manage Applications" and click on and clear the defaults on your stock gallery app. Once you do that, the next time you try and attach a picture it will ask you which application you want to use to attach it, then you can just re-select QuickPic.
Thx Alan, I'll try that.
Ok so I figure out what the problem was (had to steal the phone from her for about 30 min). It seems DRM Protective Content has to be running for me to view my media. I had it frozen with TB since that's the way I have it in my Vibrant and it causes no issue there, its just one of those system apps that I didn't want/needed to be running but for some reason the stock galley (in the Glacier) needs it to view your media... weird. Anyways when I plug the phone to the PC it turns DRM off and then I cant view my media again. Even after I disconnect it and go check to see if DRM is running (which it is) my gallery still says "no media" but Quickpic shows it though. I have to go back to TB then freeze then unfreeze DRM and then I'm able to view my media in the gallery... weird also.
Also... with QuickPick and Gallery 3D installed, I still don't have the option to choose either one when applying a attachment while sending a text message (only the stock gallery is available to choose). I cleared the data on all 3 galleries and also on the messaging app to see if then it gives me the option to choose, but nothing. Any ideas people. THX ahead.
Hmm had no idea the stock gallery was linked to DRM. Probably has something to do with HTC Sense and it's closed sourceness.
Does the DRM get refrozen when you actually mount your sdcard on the pc or just by plugging it in on charge only? It sounds like some sort of bug created by TB. If that DRM actually is a vital(or semi-vital) piece of the stock sense, then perhaps when you froze it that created bugs for the parts of the system that used it.
I've noticed in certain cases some actions will stick to the settings even once you undo the changes through the app you created the changes with. For example, on my stock Rom I used automate it pro to set my Bluetooth to power on when an external power source was connected. Eventually I disabled this rule and uninstalled the app, but those settings stuck permanently and now whenever I use my stock Rom and plug it in to charge, Bluetooth will turn on. Perhaps something similar is happening to your wife's phone...
I'd say try downloading a different messaging app like handcent or go sms and seeing if they have the same problem attaching photos. Perhaps the stock sense message app is linked to the stock gallery and I just don't remember that. I'll check one of my old backups and let you know what I find.

Under some conditions, the LG camera app will take a picture, but not actually save it, if you exit the app too quickly after taking the picture.
If you take a picture using the flash in either Simple or Auto mode, and exit the Camera app (hitting Back) before the thumbnail in the lower-right corner updates to show the picture you just took, then the picture will not actually be saved at all.
I noticed this issue a few days ago, and was able to confirm it last night. With help from a user on another forum, we helped narrow down the conditions where this happens. I have Verizon, he has Sprint, we both have Camera app version 4.52.34.4. I reproduced the problem even if saving to the phone's internal memory, rather than my SD card.
If using Auto mode, for instance, and the flash is not used, then you immediately try to exit, the app will pause, giving a "Saving" message. And the picture will still be saved. But if the flash does fire, then it will let you exit the app immediately, and the picture will not be saved, if you exit before the gallery thumbnail updates. Simple mode will also let you exit without actually saving, if the flash fires.
In Manual mode, this apparent bug does not seem to apply. It saves correctly whether the flash fires or not, even if you immediately try to exit.
This is the thread I made exploring this over on AC:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g4/561112-picture-not-saving-when-exiting-camera-app-immediately-after-taking-picture.html
Something to be aware of, as it could cause a lost picture, especially if taking it quickly then going back to something else.
I actually noticed this myself and thought I was going crazy. Twice I've taken a picture and then been unable to find it later and both times I know I took it because they had the flash go off.

So I posted this over on Reddit, but then realised that here is probably a better place for more tech users.
I needed to root my OP5 and went through the process.
Now after I've got everything up and running, all my apps installed, and Backups restored - I've noticed something very bad and annoying.
If I use the stock app to take a photo it will take the picture and show it in the gallery preview. But as soon as I try to view that photo using the gallery preview shortcut, or the gallery app, the photo instantly turns completely green.
All other apps take photos fine.
Using stock app Photos work on:
Depth Mode
Normal Mode with HDR Active
Photos are fully green with:
HDR Off
HDR Auto
HQ Mode
Anyone else experienced this?
I really dont want to have to wipe again because it takes over an hour to set up all my accounts and 2 factor auth stuffs...
Just after I wrote this someone on reddit said they had something similar with OP3 - They had to re-flash because of a corrupted build.prop. I rooted to change a bunch of stuff, including editing the build.prop.
I did a little digging and found that if you change the permissions of build.prop then it works.
Changed them to:
Owner - read, write, execute
Group - read
Other - read
Will leave this thread as a reference to others in case anyone else comes across this issue.
... whenever I try to open a freshly taken picture from within the camera app...
Before I start: the people over at reddit couldn't help me and it's been a couple of weeks since I asked for help there. I hope you don't mind me posting the exact same post from there.
I can open the gallery app just fine though but I am unable to delete photos with it. I wiped my phone half a dozen times already and this always happens after using the phone for a while. Tried safe mode and it still didn't work. What is happening?
When I use Open Camera as my Camera and QuickPic as gallery everything works just fine. I even can delete the photos I've taken within QuickPic.
This behavior started just recently, after I did a software update I guess... Bought The phone in November
Phone: Galaxy S8, SM-G950FD, UNROOTED
Software version: Nougat, Phone says, I'm on the latest version. When I hit software update this is what I get:
G950FXXU1AQL5 / G950FOXM1AQL5 / G950FXXU1AQL5
Gallery version: 5.3.05.301
Camera version: 7.1.10
ALMOST FORGOT: Instead of the most recent picture thumbnail next to the shutter button this appears: https://imgur.com/ZuXco4x
Edit: lol I can't even change my wallpaper because of this stupid Gallery App...
Edit 2: Google Play Music is able to play my local sd card files again - let's see how long that lasts...
Edit 3: When launching the camera from lockscreen I can access the gallery just fine... strange things are happening here :/
My default Samsung camera app shows a black screen before showing 'camera failed' error message. I tried solutions I found on the web such as clearing camera app cache and data, force restart, safe mode, boot onto bios and clear system cache... Nothing works.
I tried testing with *#0*#, 'Mega cam' its a black screen, tested with 'Front cam' it works. I tried with another downloaded camera app (pic quality is bad compared to the default Samsung camera app) and this time front and back camera works but not the default Samsung camera app. The camera also doesn't work in apps that require camera such as QR reader and document scanner. At least I know the camera hardware is working.
I suspect it might have been caused by a security update performed this week. Version G970U1UES6GUG1 updated.
I bought the phone new and have never done any messing about with bootloader etc.
Can anyone help?
