[Radio][Joying] Issues with New JY-VQ131N4GN - Android Head-Units

Hi all,
I posted this in the Joying forum but have had no success so figured I'd try my luck here too.
I just installed a Joying JY-VQ131N4GN Android 10 unit with newest firmware shipped into my '14 VW Passat with Fender Audio. Here are some of the issues I am running into and hope other people that may have experienced/solved these problems can help. I purchased the Can bus option for my vehicle and it was supposed to be plug and play.
1. Rear speaker output is very low for all output types (radio, android auto, BT audio, etc.). When fader setting is moved all the way to the rear, I get no sound at all from the rears. I don't know if this is due to the headunit or the Fender DSP located in the car's amp. I messed with the volume balance in the factory menu but I didnt notice any difference. I ordered a 12v bench tester and will test the speaker outs directly from the headunit soon.
2. The Joying supplied BT Music app/shortcut sends you to the BT phone app when used in a launcher. Sometimes it does this even when using the native launcher/UI.
3. I am unable to set custom steering wheel control buttons within the unit. It says to "hold down button to learn" or something like that but when I hit (and hold) any button it just does what the original button normally does (I am trying to change the phone button on the steering wheel to play/pause).
4. Hand brake sensor is backwards, when the handbrake is off, the headunit says it is activated and vice versa.
5. The unit won't switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit even after changing it in the setting menu. However, car launcher pro does allow switching to Fahrenheit but the top of the screen still reads Celsius regardless.

Dasaita 10.2" Android 6.0 head unit - Audio Issue

Hello, I recently installed the above Android unit into my 2014 Mitsubishi EVO with Rockford system. It came with the can bus decoder MT-SS-03 for 2014 Outlander. I set everything up in the factory settings menu but I'm having a major audio problem that sadly is ruining an otherwise awesome experience.
If I listen to any music at high volume all system audio cuts out completely for 5-10 seconds at a time. I've found this problem is directly related to the volume. The louder it is, the quicker the audio will cut out. I've double and triple checked all wiring and pins, updated to the latest MCU 2.59, Android system (8-3-2017), etc.
I'm out of ideas on what to try next but hoping someone here can shine some light on the situation. Thanks in advance and looking forward to putting an end to this issue!
do you have proper canbus?
Yes I do, according to them. I did get a red one though which was labeled for 2014 Outlander which I understand to be the newer can box for 2014-2015 EVO but the pictures I've seen show a black box and mine was red but labeled as the newer one. I thought the older 2008-2013 units were red. Not sure if that makes a difference or not but I do have sound from all speakers so it works it just cuts out at high volume. However, the amplifier settings on the Android unit do respond a bit strange. The sub slider seems to change all speaker output and not the sub directly and has a pretty minimal effect. The fader seems right at least as far as the channels go.
In the meantime I did contact the seller on Amazon about the issue. They told me the issue is caused by the high power protection of the factory amplifier. To fix the issue they want me to re-install the factory radio, turn the volume sliders down to the "middle part" and then install the Android unit again. This seems a bit strange to me but it could be the factory radio interfaces with the amp in a different way and is able to control the gain of the sub and the Android unit cannot. With the newer Android unit I noticed the max volume is much louder so maybe I'm hitting some sort of over current protection causing the amp to momentarily shut down. Has anyone ever heard of this?
What I'm not sure about is when this procedure would be needed. Is it because I had the amp slider on factory unit is set too high before I removed it or is it because I disconnected the battery and the amp defaults to a higher setting that only the factory unit can adjust? It would be a real shame if every time power is cut from the amp I need to repeat the process. I fear that may be the case because I'm not sure the amp has an internal EPROM or non-volatile memory that's saving the settings and I did in fact disconnect the battery.
Either way I'll be happy to finally get to the bottom of the issue and I'm sure I'll find out whether or not I'll need to swap the radios again. Until then I'll keep the factory unit closeby. Luckily it's very easy to swap out so fingers crossed this fixes the problem. It's going to be a few days till I pull the radio out since I'm also waiting for a replacement USB harness since one of mine is inop due to a damaged wire.
Please let me know if anyone has any input about this. Thanks again.
Ditto - did you try swapping back and lowering the volume, if so, did it resolve the issue?
I have only had mine for 3 days, Dasiata HA2106-S720 with Dasaita CB003 Canbus harness in a 2013 Mitsubishi ASX with Rockford Fosgate. I would agree that the volume seems higher, so there could be some truth in the Sellers theory.
By the way my experience with Subwoofer control also matches yours - adjusting the lowest frequencies on the Graphic Equalizer seems to affect the main speakers more than the subwoofer, and I am not getting the same 'punchy' bass as the OEM Head Unit.

Android head unit for VW Golf? Recommendations?

Hi,
So I am looking to buy a android headunit for my VW preferably in this style...
https://www.eonon.com/upload/product/Gallery/GA8153/GA8153-01.jpg
My current one I have got is a Joying 8inch which is similar to the one in the picture however the subwoofer had a seperate level control which was annoying because whenever you turn your speaker volume down, the sub woofer was still playing really loudly, you would then have to turn the subwoofer adjustment down as well so I had enough of it and gave it to my brother. I am now searching for another one however my BIG need is that I want the subwoofer and speakers to be controlled together using the volume knob.. I dont want to be driving and adjusting the volume knob as well as adjusting the subwoofer level on top of it. Its a silly design and all the new head units seem to have this!?
Any ways here is what I would like with the headunit:
WIFI
Bluetooth
Navigation
USB port
Browsing youtube
CD/DVD drive
Split screen/ Multitasking
Dashcam setup with DVR built into the head unit...
Here is the one I have seen https://www.eonon.com/Android-Car-G...a-Core-GPS-Navigation-System-Touchscreen.html
Have already pre ordered it but the stock wont be in till 8th january so I can still look around and find something else which might be better... Any recommendations guys? I love the fact this has a 8 core CPU but then it comes with the annoying subwoofer level adjustment which makes no sense to have. Would like a head unit without this sub woofer level adjustment feature.
Thank You.

Panlelo S10 - is it any good?

Hi guys,
I know you can buy a decent head unit for $300+, but I can spend only $150. So is there any "not that bad" radio I can buy? I only want it for GPS and music playback + reverse camera. Best would be shipping from Europe, because tax here is 21% + $20 and that would ruin my wallet . I have found this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Panlelo-S10-Plus-2-Din-Android-Car-Stereo-2G-32G-7-1080P-Autoradio-Quad-Core-2din/32909908899.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.136.130d81d9nKqHaw&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_5_10065_10068_204_318_10059_10884_10887_10696_100031_10084_10083_10103_452_10618_10304_10307_10820_532_10821_10302,searchweb201603_60,ppcSwitch_0&algo_expid=a972cd81-c671-41c1-a8dc-9bd13b7e13a3-19&algo_pvid=a972cd81-c671-41c1-a8dc-9bd13b7e13a3&priceBeautifyAB=0 (Panlelo S10 Plus)
2 gigs of RAM, some quadcore CPU, 32GB ROM, RDS (I won't listen to a radio very often).. I only don't like sensor volume buttons, but I can live with that. What do you guys think?
Or it's not worth it and I should just buy some 1 din classic and parking sensors, leaving GPS to a phone?
Thanks for answers
I would say what is the worst that could happen with the device?
Maybe it is useful that you inform what MCU there is and if it is mtcd mtce whatsoever. Then you can look if there is any custom ROM that you could flash to this.
I prefer to have hardware buttons for volume and next back etc. But I know I can also use my steering wheel for that (which I do in 99 percent of the time)
Verstuurd vanaf mijn ZUK Z2121 met Tapatalk
The worst would be it not being able to run GPS and music at the same time? Or very bad audio output? I don't know what to expect from these devices.
I'm not sure if it has any microcontroller, specs says only "Allwinner quadcore 1.2 GHz". I though it was just a tablet in different body with amp. But I'm sure there will not be any custom ROM for this. I can even find many reviews.
Sorry if I'm not very clear, I'm new to this.
I got the panlelo S10 plus a week ago and it's a good upgrade to the stock stereo (installed it on a Ford freestyle)
-google maps GPS works great by using hotspot from my phone, I have not tried off line Gps apps
-audio app for air radio stations sounds just like the stock stereo but has equilizer feature which will help it to sound better than the stock stereo, and the reception for air radio is just as the stock stereo
-it will let you play music (music app, google play music, Amazon music, YouTube music) and use Google maps at the same time but you have to go to settings and whilelist the apps you want to keep running in the background after you get back to the main screen or switch to maps
-it does boot up in like 2-3 secs for me
-it is not standard size as the regular 2 din, you need to make sure it's going to fit, also you need to shave the sides opening for the car kits you buy for double din car installation
-quality is meh, my screen has a corner lifting up, it is very small but it's there, it might be because the opening I did to the car kit plate it's making pressure on that corner.
-touch screen is responsive but is plastic not glass like a phone or tablet, the specs make the stereo to be responsive when moving thru apps
-screen brightness it's adequate for a car stereo, don't expect it to be like a phone - update - after connecting the illumination wire the brightness adjusts automatically down when turning on the headlights, you can set how low to go on the settings menu
-I don't have a back up camera so I can't comment on that
-side capacitive buttons do no light up (at least I haven't found out how to enable it or if there is a cable connection that I'm missing) so at night you won't be able to see the volume buttons, you have to rely on pulling down the notification bar to move the volume - update - my car does not have an illumination dedicated wire so I connected the stereo illumination wire to a cable that turns on the ac panel backlight and now the menu capacitive buttons light up when I switch the headlights on
-I haven't play with the steering wheel controller, I haven't research my car to see how to connect them to the stereo, I installed it in a rush because I was going in a trip so I just connected the basic stuff, so far I am enjoying it a lot for this trip. - update - connected the stereo key1 cable to the car swc+ cable and the steering wheel controls worked fine after programing them on the stereo settings
Overall I think is worth the $147 I paid for it, hopefully it lasts long.

Help me choose a new Android Head Unit - What I have now vs What I am looking for

Hi All - I've had a Joying Sofia 3GR head unit since March 2017. I need to replace it. I currently have a 2008 Nissan 350Z without Bose or navigation, if this helps in the discussion. I like, but certainly do not love my Sofia unit, overall the experience has gotten far, far too frustrating not to replace this head unit. So here's what I do not like about the unit, and what I'd like to fix with new hardware.
1 - Right off the bat, the unit doesn't fit into any double-din dash kits I have found for this car. I've tried Metra and Scosche kits for the 350z, and the unit is a few mm too wide and too tall for it. Given the way the Z's center stack is designed, going with a unit where the display sticks out and is wider and taller than double-din likely won't work as I only have about 10mm of wiggle room before it touches the HVAC controls or prevents me from opening the center console compartment.
2 - I'm looking for a new unit with capacitive or no buttons. My Joying unit's NAVI button mechanism has failed, so it's stuck in. In addition, the volume encoder randomly adjusts the volume without me touching it. I'll be driving and all of a sudden the volume rises quickly and drastically, I can't have that obviously, it's too large of a distraction. Ideally, I'd like to get my factory steering wheel volume controls back. This has proven difficult as the standard aftermarket steering wheel control modules in the industry are frustrating and there's little documentation about it at all, and I don't believe my car has a CANbus or anything similar. I don't want to stick a BT remote on the wheel, that's silly.
3 - GPS randomly dies completely and bringing it back is luck of the draw. If I go into the Car Settings app or any GPS utility app, it cannot reach satellites. Ever. I've tried a reboot, I've tried manual A-GPS refreshes, I've tried making sure the date/time is correct, I've tried factory resetting it. Nothing, absolutely nothing fixes it with consistency, factory resets have gotten it back sometimes, but not always, and not currently. I guess this could be hardware, I just don't know. Navigation is a big part of why I decided to get one of these units in the first place.
4 - Poor performance. I'm trying to have to interact with the unit as little as possible. I'd like to be able to quickly set the music I want to hear, or the navigation destination of my choice, and have it work as reasonably well as say, my phone does. Currently, the Sofia unit hiccups, gets stuck, crashes, sound glitches, etc often. Usually at least once a day.
5 - Poor sound quality. It just doesn't sound as good as my factory CD player did. Not even close. I was able to get it sounding great with Viper4Android, but that takes up too much CPU headroom, so everything else will glitch, heat up, etc so it's not viable. Also since the 6.0 update, I can't use the EQ function in Viper, which is a large reason of why I was able to get it sounding good previously.
Does anyone have an Android unit that they love, and that actually works with consistency?
I wrote up a review here [Review] ATOTO A6 Install in Subaru WRX, but the bottom line is that i'm happy with ATOTO A6 Pro. I wont repeat the details here, but it addresses most of your needs and I was able to get the steering wheel controls working in my older car.

Ford Fiesta 2010 Android unit caused some problems

Hello there all, I recently installed an android head unit from AliExpress, and everything went well until I first noticed that non of the buttons on the wheel worked. I saw many posts about this, but I didn't mind as I really didn't use it much. However, I got a professional to install the reversing camera that came with the head unit and try fixing the steering wheel's buttons. Because the professional attempted to fix the buttons for the steering wheel, he caused non of the buttons below the head unit to work (e.g. radio, the numbers, and turning the circle to try and change the volume). The "professional" was only able to get 2 of the buttons on the steering wheel to work (volume up and down, but you have to hold it down for like 5 seconds before it works), and when I tried to get back to him, they didn't respond. Also some reason, the volume will randomly mute every now and then (e.g. listening to music and the volume goes to 0).
I have seen many other threads about checking fuses and removing the battery for 10 minutes; however, I was wondering if there may be other fixes you guys may have that may help before attempting the battery method.
I would also like to say that I'm not overly confident working with or in cars. However, if there is a video or a simple explanation on how to do the fix, that would help make me feel confident.

edit: I have checked both 15amp and the 7.5amp and they were both fine.

Have you set the right car in the CAN-settings menu?
Clarify if your steering wheel buttons are provided via CAN or resistor related. (Car dealer)

I have set the CAN-settings to what the seller provided from AliExpress.
However, I think the steering wheel buttons are functional by resistors/resistance. (e.,g. wiring of KEY1, KEY2 and KEY GND).
I have a feeling that the "professional" may have done something to the wiring or such just to get the steering wheel buttons to work but in the process, he has made the radio control panel buttons not work anymore.
My main focus is just to fix the radio control panels (the picture below) as I use those way more than any other buttons on the steering wheel.

The radio control panel is provided by the CAN.
As no one knows what they did to the wiring, any help with it is no possible. You need to talk with the "professional" to get this fixed.
In your case about the SW buttson are connected to the resistor cales, you just need to search for the related app to set them. This is no automatism. May be you need to search for the SW in the settings. As I don´t know your system, I am not able to provide more help here.
Edit: You may test some other CAN-settings, may be they changed something and this leads to the issue with the radio buttons.

I get that, I don't really care about the SW buttons. I'm mainly just more focused on trying to figure out the radio control panel. I'm confused because the radio control panel stopped working as I had the "professional" help. Also, it's hard to talk with them again as they gave just left me on read for about 2 weeks now (from Airtasker).
I'll have another look tomorrow deeper into the CAN-settings, and will message the AliExpress seller for some help as I remember they said a problem like this might occur without the correct CAN-settings as you mentioned as well.
