I like it but I don't love it, especially because videos are horrible in 4k and stabilization is very bad
Tempted by this phone. Currently have a OnePlus 5t, but love Xiaomi phones and MIUI. Not sure whether to jump on this or hold out for a Mi 8 SE.

Go for the 2s, no notch and the hardware is the same as the M8

I also used to own a 5T and just sold it for a Xiaomi mi mix 2s.
As someone who LOVES stock android, Oxygen OS will always be my favorite mobile OS. After owning 3 different OnePlus Devices, it was hard to go for a Xiaomi....
But the Mi mix 2s has been an AWESOME device so far. Battery life is on par with my 5t. The screen is incredible , the no bezel design is beautiful and I think it is best done on the Mi mix 2s. ( I hate notches). Although it is not amoled, the screen is very good and it works great. MIUI is not as snappy as Oxygen OS, but its still light years ahead of touchwiz and Crapsung experience.
I personally really like wireless charging, and its nice to have it on the Mi Mix 2s. The phone design is my all time favorite. I love the weight of the ceramic and It is hands down the best looking device I have ever seen. However not having a headphone jack is absolute ****.....Dont get me started on that.
The back 2 cameras are stellar and its the main reason I went with the Mi Mix 2s.... As someone who rarely uses the front camera, the quality is really good for a 5mp shooter, but if you are someone who uses it a lot, this phone might not be for you....
Overall, if you can find it for $500usd or less, I think this is the best phone for the price on the market. :good:
I just wondered about something that i saw in xiaomi's forum,i wrote a poat and i was rly angry of this bug collection that i bought(mix2s) and 1 answer just came and said we didnt launch mi mix2s in india and we cant help you????

If only the bezzel (with the front camera) would be on top, it would be a great phone.
I usually give goog things for granted so focusing on the bad:
bottom selfie camera
shiny-way-too-slippery ceramic back (would love a mate version)
no widevine L1 support
no microSD
no 3.5 jack
About the last two dont care so much since i have bluetooth earphones and got an OTG flashdrive (couldnt get the 128 GB version cause out of stock).
ceramic and widevine are not so bad but the selfie camera just kills it. Is such a hazzle to use. if you use it as is you get a massive neck/chin resulting in an awful perspective, and if you rotate the phone say bye to fingerprint shutter and forget whatsapp video call.
Just as someone said before, like it, yeah, love it, NOPE

Yep, I needed to to that several times before to be connected before discovered that this was broken in early 2019 ROMs.
Phone with regular OTA updates and stable official ROM is just unusable, that forced me to unlock and flash. It's shame to brake main functionality of device :/ You can't expect from users to force them to flash phone. You should not force them to use old ROM to make or receive call.
I replaced my old phone to get decent camera, speed and B20 connectivity, but was sure to still have basic gsm, bt and wifi fuctionalities. Yep, cam was not broken
For $300 brand new I have no complaints. Was looking for a notch less phone with a decent camera and good battery life, this phone hits the spot. I rarely take selfie so I don't mind with its front camera. Oh and it has snapdragon 845 chip.
help me anyone mix 2s user
my phone is brick with lockbootloader i tried to flash via miflash (point test) but unlucky have no authorized account someone please help to fix my mix 2s >.<:crying::crying:
I'm very happy with this phone. I bought it new two months ago at a very good price (128gb version), and I'm using it with Nova Launcher and all the Google apps I can manage to install on it instead of the Xiaomi ones (I don't like them). I have no complains so far: no lag, good amount of RAM to keep my apps working in the background, nice screen (right now I still prefer a good IPS versus any Amoled), nice cameras.
And for the odd placement of the selfie camera, I just have installed a little app called 'Rotation' and with a touch in a widget, it forces full rotation so I can turn the phone it to put the camera in the upper, and all will rotate accordingly (android himself, and all the apps). If anything, the selfie camera himself could be better (more angle and better resolution, like the Mi 8 one).
I purchase Mi9se, I use for 2 months and I return it to amazon, because the screen lag...
I write fast and every time the phone just do nothing...
I remember the POCO, I use like a week and I return it....
With mi9se almost have the same issue... Is not software is the screen...
So, I buy this Mix 2s, the only think I don't like is the weight but I understand it...
The poco was 180g, the Mi9se 155g and my old Mi5 127g , Mix2s 190g is heavy but with the weight the you will have to take care more your phone every time...
I don't like Notch, I prefer water drop or nothing..
I like a phone the size of your hand not more.... Like the new phones, are very BIG..
Is like to have to DICKS °lol sorry
Its been 3 days with my Mix2s and I feel fine
I obviously liked it better Mi9se(6gb/64gb) $ 350USD less weight and better cameras, AMOLED...
But I don't care, for the price I pay is fine... 6gb/128gb - $ 312 USD mexico

Recently my current phone (Leeco LeTv Max 2) died on me, therefore, I am currently looking looking for a new phone, and after searching online for a good Android phone, I found that brand name phones like Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, Google Pixel 3, and Huawei P30 Pro are expensive and the only phones that meet my budget are OnePlus 6T and Xiaomi Mi 9, the problem with OnePlus 6T that its camera is not that good as Xiaomi Mi 9, but when I search for the best Android phones online I found that OnePlus 6T is one of at leas the best 5 phones while Xiaomi Mi 9 is not even there, maybe it is new and it is not reviewed for most of rating website, so would you please recommend one for me in you know these phone, I have to buy one ASAP, thanks in advance.
Personally I'd say go for Mi 9 just an all round better device or even wait for OP7 at this point OP6T is not worth it.
Mi 9 Has SD855 More Efficient, Better Display (HDR10 Certification), Camera Sensors/Software, Better Speaker, 20w Wireless Charging, 27w Fast Charging.
But if you have a chance try both devices and see which suits you the most.

As far as specs go, I'd say the Xiaomi MI 9 is better. Does it matter buying new or used? You can get barely used 6T for 300-400 now. 7T will be out in a few months. I think the MI 9 is $600 or so. I was in the same position didn't want to spend a lot. So I picked up a 6T and a MI 8. MI 8 should arrive tomorrow. I'm going to compare the two for a daily. I have a brand new P20 PRO which I think is better than both that I need to get rid of. If you need now right now and cant wait then MI 9. If you can wait I say 7T. Or find a cheaper used 6T or MI 8 and wait for the 7T to compare to the MI 9.
I was thinking either to go to MI 9 (which I like a lot) or wait for the 7T, then I decided to wait, but now the 7T is released and the price is high, then suddenly while I was searching for a deal in our local online shopping site, I found a new Google Pixel 3 XL with only 700 CAD, which I found I deal that couldn't be rejected, so I bought it and so far I am happy, but my heart is still with the MI 9 which I think if will buy another phone in the future it would be it.
Get the Mi 9, it has better camera, better SOC, better GPS, faster charging, wireless charging, etc. The only cons are MIUI (depends on your taste), smaller battery, and slightly slower FP.
I'm starting to regret my OP 6T purchase, i got this phone 2 months ago. Now I can get a Mi 9 for $150 cheaper.
Op7
Does the Mi work in Verizon? Not sure where you are located....I really need to get away from them, VZW sucks.
I'm pretty impressed with the Mi phone and specs.
If xiaomi mi9, only 12 GB version (that might worth because of later-coming custom roms), 6 Gb will be a pain to use in some years. I had a xiaomi phone and I loved it because of the good hardware and the great developers of xda who made amazing roms and tweaks for my device, but it was not even a week old when I rooted and changed miui to stock android. When it comes to xiaomi, os is the weakest point, so even with the newer hardware mi9 performs on the same level as oneplus 6t just because op has a great software. You see the difference of chipsets when you are rendering videos, but on daily usage and gaming they are on the same level.
Mi9 is good, but if you want to buy a phone for longer time, oneplus is more future-proof than xiaomi.
One more pro thing for oneplus compared to mi9: battery life. 6t has much better SOT than mi9 or even op7 pro (90hz, max brightness -> disappointing battery life).
Mi9 for the price, for the harware. Many users love Miui.
6T for hardware, second hand price is great, but most important os & soft updates.
7 pro. awesome phone. Good hardware & software. Expensive. And of course, better screen = uses more baterry.

1. 12 GB worth for future custom roms?
Why are you saying that? This is absolutely not true.
2. Did you ever compare development of a mi 8 vs a oneplus 6t?
Xiaomis mi and the main redmi series are one of the most developed devices on XDA.
They have a big dev community from India.
3. The battery of the 6t is clearly not much better than the mi9.
Maybe you can show some adequate test results for comparison to proof that.
They are equal when it comes to battery life.

Who knows what future android versions will need? Apps and android are growing, they want more space, more ram, and so on, and I am not thinking in one-two year term, rather 4-5 and be honest: noone want their great flagship to be a laggy piece of crap 3-4 years later. Most people buy flagships because they are designed to be future-proof. 12 GB will guarantee fluid multitasking for years and you don't have to worry about anything. 6 GBs is only enough if you want to upgrade in 1-2 years and if you are paying monthly for the device yes this is an option, but I am not one of those. I just said if I woulf buy a mi9, which version would I choose (and if we see that even this is cheaper than OP, than yes this is an option). Why didn't I choose that? Software and battery.
I said also that I had a xiaomi phone and I know that this brand (not only mi, also redmi series) has the most developed topics in xda (that is why I used my redmi for 3 years because the devs ported great roms and on the forums even noobs like me found actual support) and to be honest migrating to oneplus forums full of crying was a huge disappointment after that. But facts are facts, Mi9 has a smaller battery with not-so-well optimized ROM (3300 mAh is not more, not less and MIUI is a heavy os), result: it will not last as long as the 6t and I am one of those who want their phone to last till the end of the day even with heavy usage.
I did not say one is better than the other, because everyone has their personal preferences what decides which one fits better for someone. They are on the same level when it comes to performance, I mentioned the differences pro and contra both, so I don't understand why are you complaining. Facts are facts: OP has a bigger battery, a better software, and this software keeps it future-proof in my eyes. Mi9 has newer hardware, wireless charging and a good developer community. It depends on people what they choose.
I tell you what was my problem with xiaomi and why I won't buy that brand again: stock software updates. When I see that even OP3 gets android Pie from the company, and xiaomi cannot upgrade even their last year midrange phones' android version (even if the hardware would be fully capable), that is disappointing.
I am talking about this: https://www.theandroidsoul.com/xiaomi-android-9-pie-update/
And this: https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-6-6a-s2-y2-android-pie-cancelled/
Mi series are on different level, but scroll down to redmi series. Most of "not eligible" phones have the capable hardware if not all of them. Mine is not even on the list, it was released with MM and cancelled at MM (!!).
Two years later Mi9 owners will know that, but maybe that is why they are so well supported on XDA. I came to custom roms because of xiaomi, and I started to love these forums because of xiaomi.
But I want what normal people want: when I buy a phone, I want real software support from the company, and I want every single component of the software working in my country. Miui cannot give me that (although I had global version), most of the features were useless bloatware in my area. Different people in different countries will have different experiences. I just told you mine. Maybe I want too much. Sorry for that.

I asked you for a solid proof (but please no useless youtube noob video or something) that 6T's battery is lasting much longer. If you tell me something about battery sizes, then I can clearly say, that you don't understand how a phone is working.
Even when it comes to the RAM thing, with more is better, etc. Your phone won't get more 'laggy' just because you have 4 or 6 GB RAM nowadays. This won't change in 3-4 years either, if you have 6 or 12 GB RAM. You can have 12 GB RAM today and your phone will not be able to hold all apps in the RAM, if the RAM management and the application is not optimized.
I did not say anything against the longtime support by the company, but if he is willing to use custom ROMs (at least he is already here on XDA) the support with newest android updates won't be much different, especially when it comes to flagship devices.
Finally I did not argue against your recommendation. That is your personal thing.
I had a problem with your arguments.

Ok, so I turn the question: can you give me a solid proof that I am wrong and the solid numbers are lying? I used miui, I know that the standby tim is great but what about actually using the phone? That one just melts away.
About the ram thing: check the ram usage on your device. On mine it is averagely more than 4 gbs, if there is less than one gb free ram on a 6 gbs phone it becomes laggy because it deaperately wants to free some space while you just want to use your phone. Also that is my 10 years experience in Android phones.
About the support difference: I just told you above, read again.
Just happened to see this thread and realize it's a bit old now but anyways...
I have a OnePlus 6 currently, long story short several weeks ago the screen shattered and I needed a new phone. Thought about just fixing the 6 but decided to pick up the global mi 9 as spec wise and cost it was a great deal. Fast forward>>>> the mi 9 is currently on swappa and I'm waiting for my oneplus 6t, using a shattered 6. After waiting 360 hours to unlock the bootloader and get root so I could actually comfortably use the phone (not getting into a debate on privacy, I didn't care for all the intrusive crap on the mi 9) it was a let down but the final straw was really my fault for not really checking what lte bands TMobile was using around me, but besides that I, personally couldn't get adjusted to MIUI as it's anything but intuitive. The cameras were not really that great, the speed difference even between my 6 wasn't really noticable and I just wanted out. I thought about waiting for the Asus Zenfone 6 but I couldn't, not with the mi 9. I'll make due with the older 6t until I decide to upgrade again. From software, actual usage of the phone, weight, and tho it's still fairly new, lack of any development (I'm pretty sure that will change shortly) the mi 9 was not for me.
I would take op7 even it has worse camera. I cant work with miui
The "budget model" OP7 will be released soon.
In my opinion a perfect choice since OP7 iron out the few flaws of OP6t: better camera, stereo speakers and also benefit from OP7Pro: fastest CPU, 3.1 storage, better fingerprint sensor, etc.
Well, you don't get the fancy resolution in OP7pro, but you will get a much better battery life, and even greater battery SOT than OP6t (due to 855 use less energy than 845) and the price is 25% less the pro version.
In my opinion the optimal choice.
Main question in topic title… (new or used devices)
How to unlock the bootloader? What's the best maintained and stable ROM out there?
Or should I avoid it?
The device is now currently selling for ₹9000 (presuming you are in India). If you spend a little more the current gen Redmi and Realme devices offer much better specs.
If you still want this phone I would recommend ResRemix, DOT OS, Havoc OS or Pixel Experience.
Nope no never even not in your nightmare..if you want it to became more than worst nightmare
Depends on how much price you're getting, In some websites it goes under 7k with Bank offers and all that, It's a nice device for that price range. If you're going above 8.5k, then look aside, there are better devices in that segment of 10k or under. Hope that helps
Do not buy any Asus phone in 2019 because they do not have LTE band 41 (Sprint / Vodafone In) and even though the SD636 660 and 865 support LTE A, CA does not work. There are software glitches in M1, fewer on 340.
Yes, with discounts and offers it goes around 7k or so right? can anyone suggest better phone in this range? with 5kmah batt full hd screen 3/4gb ram, sd 636 or better
If you NEED big battery AND you live in a well signal area = yes, otherwise, the phone simply sucks.
If you choose this phone, use Havoc, Dot OS for M1 is slow af, and buggy (Titanium backup doesn't work after a while, lots of gcam also force stop), also not so good battery life, just tried it yesterday. Oh, and it's a clean flash, not dirty.

you're SERIOUSLY recommending a phone thats almost DOUBLE the price?
are your eyes and brain working normally?
hey OP, ignore everything in this thread, go for a gold plated iPhone with diamond touchscreen.
because screw budgets, right?
I would say it depends upon your needs.
I am a person who prefers small to medium sized phones, but wanted a slightly bigger device for reading and media consumption that could still be operated via single hand. Max Pro M1 fit the bill pretty well.
Its got a nice screen, reasonable specs, lightweight stock UI, nice build quality and is affordable.
I found is the camera to be lacklustre, which can somewhat be improved via Google Camera app.
YMMV.
I got 4gb max pro m1 for 7.6k

For 7.6k its definitely good buy, redmi note 6 pro with same SoC is 11-12k.
I bought the 3/32GB variant for Rs 6,066 after all the Bank Discounts and an exchange. So far, it's proving to be a good purchase. I'm really impressed with the battery life on it. The UI is smooth being stock Android. I've added a 64GB Micro SD card. It works than my brother's Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Front Camera is where it lacks but apart from that it's great.
Bought this phone in February this year for my mother, the price itself in Indonesia is quite a good deal if we consider its mid-class spec.
But... turns out it is a big disappointment. My mom only uses this phone for about 2 months and after that, she doesn't want to use it anymore, even she beg me to have her old Redmi Note 4 back instead of continuing using it (too bad, I already sold her old RN4). She said, this phone is too minimalist, the camera is very bad, no convenient features and the stock UI is simply boring.
So, she handed it back to me and I bought her the Galaxy M20 for a replacement and she is very happy with it. Now, this phone becomes my test phone to play with several custom ROM from our talented dev here in XDA community. Currently, I am using Pixel Experience Plus Edition with Darkonah Kernel. Sometimes, I also use this phone for a hotspot device when I have to travel overseas (i just have to put the local 4G sim card in it), so I can connect my primary phone and laptop while I'm roaming in the city.
However, if you consider buying this phone in 2019, my advice is, just DON'T... Except, you can get it with a very cheap price and forget the stock ROM, it is just BAD.
Did you try flashing the MIUI10 ROM, which makes it exactly like a Xiaomi phone? I come from Mi Max 2, got this phone for 3 main reasons
1)5000mah battery
2)2 sim and sd card
3) multi colored led notification light
I am quite happy with it. However the new Mi9T/k20 pro has AMOLED screen which are quite nice for decent price. Smaller battery and no rgb notification though.

Iam planning to tell my friend to buy one from his trip to India. There is nothing even half good i can buy for that price ( around 80 Pound) here in the UK . Dear Indian friends do you have any other phones to suggest for that budget ?
@rkoforever90 Hi,
Only lack luster thing in this phone is- its camera performance. Ignore the trolls here, they might be just some teens, accustomed to Chinese vendors.
Slow battery charge is intentionaly done by Asus to keep its massive battery healthy.
Very few devices comes with sd636 in your budget.
I'll recommend moto one device if you want to compensate for camera and performance.
Skip realme, oppo, Mi etc. (You know why )
Htc u12+ and Nokias in budget but lacks battery power. Also upcoming month is festive month in India so may be some good device launch will follow.
Overall for an elderly I think its good device with good resolution and screen quality. With no lags. Stock rom is not as bad as this forum made it look like.

I love my RN7,now falling in love in my RN8 pro..
It's amazing..and yes.. you can love your phone ?
Love speed, camera, battery. For me personally it's far better then my former phone (Mi Mix 2s)
Little cons:
- notification LED is far too small
- backside is too slippery (I won't use it without a case)
Display.. this is the perfect size and I love this phone..
Battery.. ?
I have ordered the phone 6/128 variant, will get tomorrow or day after. I'm excited but worrisome about the camera result at the same time. Let's see
Mine should also arrive tomorrow. I went with 6/64 variant, but that's good enough for me. Will report after a couple of days of use.
This is a really good phone at a really good price.
I just love the battery charging speed in this price segment.
I got my phone today and reading mode is turned off still at night, my display seems yellowish.
Check the screenshot.
This phone is everything I expected and more. The only few cons are overshadowed by it's price. Guess everyone was wrong about G90T. No oveeheating, smooth peeformance all the way. Also... more than decent primary shooter, great battery life,... Glad I went for this over P20 Lite. And cheaper too. Now only thing left is the wait until MIUI 11.
my good old Samsung Note 4 broke down, now I also have a Redmi Note 8 Pro, I love the phone too xD
Phone is awesome
Note 8 Pro Love
Had my phone a couple of days - upgraded from redmi note 7. So far loving it, seems really quick and glad to now have NFC. Face unlock is very quick and the main camera seems to be good - more testing needed though. Only annoying thing is lack of HD playback on Netflix.
Ian
I like this phone. Good quality, very fast, and battery life is amazing. My biggest downfall is lacking immediate bootloader unlock and lack of ROMs. I am hoping this phone will become more free and capable of customization.
The phone is really good and fast, apart from few problems, everything else is love. Camera is having some real issues and those for sure are due to software. Hardware for the main camera is the same as Realme XT then why improved video quality for XT? Xiaomi needs to improve the camera software so that you can rate this phone 10/10.
USA version that works with AT&T
Can any verify if RN8 / Pro will support AT&T LTE?

If your carrier have LTE, phone support it.
I have 4G+ with my provider. Telenor
By far the best 230$ I've ever spent on a device. Just updated to miui 11 they def made some great improvements. My gf has a big gig note 9 she's like I want a RN8 pro her daughter has a S8 plus she's ordering one today. The camera and fluidness with this phone is amazing. Say what you want but this mediatek soc gets things done. There's rumors of a SD 730g series RN 8 pro but it's not going to happen it's a rumor so people are waiting for that variant to come out. Lol enjoy your wait.
Hello! Do you have information when the pixel experience firmware comes out on Redmi Note 8 Pro?
Bought it online China set China rom with installed Google 8/126, tried to find indian version due to dedicated sd card but not available. Previously owns mi max prime with global rom and it was easy to play with because google is available.
With RN8P china set/rom i had to explore deeply especially when using the browser which automatically give us several option either using baidu or sm (dun know what is this). Even cant use in app purchase at first which makes me feel little disappointed and ready to unlock and install global rom  and already download the software to start the operation
Luckily, after exploring in the phone i can change the browser in english permanently (unless i reset it) and also watched in youtube how to enable in app purchase if using china rom.
Now i feel happy because the replacement of my loyal mi max prime is up to my standard
Camera: Excellent with lot of option (i'm not expert but it looks great) dont need gcam...for now
Speed/Charging: Fast response
Network: Sometime I've got 4+ even though my line is supporting up to 4g only
Memory: Great, 126gb is my minimum standard requirement, can expand it using sd card
Keyboard: I'm using xperia
Gaming: Not a fan for heavy games for android. Got only Clash of Clans and Candy Crush...yeah just 2:laugh: but kind noticed the changing in temperature at back body.
Sound: Loud and clear, need to memorized that the ear speaker hole is just at the top edge
Processor: MTK? SD? nah....i'm not an expert
Satisfaction: Human never satisfied..just call it enough to sustain at least 2 years from now

Ok , I come from Davinci, Whyred and Violet and just got my Poco X3 NFC 6/128 ...
Originally I don't like mememui, I always go for light custom roms + custom gapps ... sometimes testing Masik or EU ...
But this Poco X3 with Android 10 MIUI 12 is a fuc#*ing mess ...
I don't know even if Xiaomi is going to fix it, there are so many devices and other and other , every month...
Ok, this MIUI 12 comes with Poco Launcher , it's different from other stock MIUI 12 A10, the animation gestures on poco launcher(going home) don't work smoothly (like if you needed quick step magisk module), you have to use virtual buttons, exactly it feels like the first MIUI 12 A9 not A10 ...
Half baked apps/options inside MIUI , ok you know depending on the region you choose it's the bloat you get , I'm from Mexico , it comes with games , ads in system apps , and the casual trackers joyose, MSA and friends, ok we can debloat it a little via Fastboot command or tool , but there are things that don't make sense, there's app vault app that you can actually update , but it's inexistent in the OS... Like some remaining of a cropped software and a lot like this , hide apps don't work, etc...
Like wallpaper carrousel, is there , it updates , but you can't use it ... the themes don't make sense , poco launcher use classic icon packs from playstore...
120hz... I don't feel them... Performance it's also a let down ... Games run good , scrolling inside apps not that good.
Gestures are really bad, animation+behavior ...
This strange MIUI 12 android 10 trying to be another thing it's horrible , maybe because we don't have a Chinese Dev Rom behind, it's a pure global device ...
I bought this phone like all my xiaomis , just for custom roms , I hope we can get aosp based roms or CAF like paranoid android , my faith is on it ...
But really , my Davinci/Whyred/violet 100% stock wipe the floor with Poco X3 ...
And all the publitubers hype (all those selling tech channels) just raising the hype for $$. This is a true rant , good hardware for the price , but the software is steps behind average.
Let's wait for AOSP ROMS MASTER RACE !!
I second this.
This is my first Xiaomi phone and I have the same feel: good hardware and a messy software.
I came from a Motorola and Android stock is 2 or 3 steps ahead miui (12 at least, maybe v11 is better).
I hope in modding as you.
Cheers
Still have my Note 5 Pro (Whyred) and with Google Experience Rom on it it absolutely flies.
Hope to see the same rom come to the Poco X3, which I agree feels like a great device just being a but hampered by its software.
I also feel the X3 is just a bit too heavy and big really. The Note Pro 5 was pretty much as big as I want to go, but will keep the Poco X3 as a kind of tablet.
Got the phone 2 days ago, experience overall is very pleasant.
* Battery - love it - SOT I get about 9h, WiFi and mobile data connections smooth. I just charge 30 minutes every day, from around 30% up to 80% again
* I'm getting a case with camera bump cover (nillkin)
* Gaming - NO complaints, all praise for CODM playing
* Ads - And surprisingly no intrusive ads experience
Changes made so far:
* Launcher - Replaced Poco with Nova and Nova PRIME, Double tap sleep, icons with no labels
* GCAM 7.3 by Arnova8G2, to supplement the stock cam (thanks to Komger's post)
* Whicons
* started incremental debloating (thanks to Szaki for the incredible tool - I used this debloater on my Redmi note 4x and note 7, too)
* Blokada v5 DNS
* Vanced (I removed the Youtube that came with the phone using the debloater)

SO TRUE! Almost 9 out of 10 youtube reviews I watched for Poco X3 those reviewers just repeat and repeat hardware specs. They never go deep on the software aspects.

I was wondering if i was the only one but no, i'm relevés?. This phone has super hardware for the price, battery is pretty good but software is killing everything. I bought this device for future dev and custom roms (dream would be a nice oxygen Os port) but until then I won't use it as a daily driver for sure.

Same mate, I run Miui 11 only a week with my Rn7 and jumped to Google experience directly and never went back, on my previous device ( Mi5 ) I did 2 years with Miui and 2 with custom roms, mainly LineageOS.
I agree with what you said, doublon apps between Google and Xiaomi ones, bloat apps like facebook netflix chrome and games preinstalled, messy menus, unclear features, no new gestures because of Poco launcherw, MIUI doesn't feel professional at all.
For the moment I went with fluid gestures + debloat what is possible for the moment through adb.
But I must disagree with you according the 120fps mode, it's just that we get easily used to it and don't feel it, reactive the 60 fps and you'll right away see the difference.
To find some pros it's true that the UI is cleaner than it used to be, it's quite beautiful to be honest
Never a Xiaomi phone again. I thought my Motorola G7 sucked, but now I'm missing it.
This phone feels like it's not tested at all. Just created, let's sell it and we'll see what will happen.
The sot sucks. Hotspot sucks. Bluetooth sucks. It feels slow as.... Not snappy at all.
Coming from the Motorola G7, it feels like a downgrade, although apps open a bit quicker (and the last isn't even true in a lot of situations!).

screen on time ? Mine has been nuts, I've been out in the garden, streaming video news over WIFI/4G at medium brightness for hours and reading stuff in the browser when back inside and getting to the end of the day with 60% left.
bluetooth Im having issues with yeah, audio breaking up on a headset and my pebble watch disconnecting when its been solid on 2 other much older phones BUT Ive known this to happen at launch on other handsets, some bluetooth glitches that get ironed out quickly so Im not concerned yet

Is that the device which is v5.1? I'm using v5.1 Bluetooth headphones, I didn't face anything as you said. I will check with the lower version then.
Things i love:
1.price
2.price
3.price
Its all about the price, so stop complaining..
Anyone experiencing delayed messages like the FB messenger? It took time for me to received messages on time compare to my other phone.
Overall a good device.with the battery life and fairly good display its the best in its range.just some basic softeare optimizations here and there needed. It has the latest chip from 2020.
Having used a Mi Mix 2s I found myself at home with Miui on the Poco X3. In between I had a Samsung S10 plus which honestly I just didn't like. This phone hasn't disappointed me at all. The battery life is great, plays games, screen is pretty good (not Oled but still good). Stereo speakers while not as good as the S10 + are still pretty good. I don't take a ton of pictures but the camera does fine for me. Really the best description I can give is "Good". This phone really doesn't do anything great, but everything it does good enough. It's not a flagship (which I sold to buy this one) but for the price you get a lot of good.
Super disappointed. The display is terrible, the SW is just..bad. Camera? Mediocre at best. Battery life just average(zero games played). Coming from an OP 6T, Samsung S9+, Samsung A71(but it for the battery, the S9+ had issues with it). It's just decent for it's price, that's all. All those youtube reviews, man...cannot trust them anymore.

The display isn't terrible, it's a normal display for this price range, haven't noticed anything weird, battery is clearly in the top notch, camera I don't know and I don't care, + it has 120hz, wish phones at 1000$ still don't have
Really amazing device for me, coming from ZTE Axon 7 and I love it! It's a full package of features phone. Interesting design, good build quality, great speakers, good 3.5mm port, amazing battery life, micro SD card support, NFC, IR Blaster, great WiFi reception... and don't forget 120Hz which brings the most fluidity into the phone for this price range! Just wow.
Only grip for me is worse camera quality, but that's bad MIUI camera optimization, I'm waiting for GCam solution.
Also MIUI has some visual bugs which doesn't bother me much. Waiting for bootloader unlock and flashing xiaomi.eu as I really like MIUI as a first time user.
So now that there are several custom roms out what do people think about this phone? I can pick one up for about $200 new here in Colombia (global version) but if people are still having issues with the phone even with Gcam and custom roms I might just pass and wait on something better to be releases.
I am still using my old but reliable Essential PH-1 with Android 11 recently installed and I don't want to downgrade.
Personally I rly like it. Custom rom is always the choice for me anyway. Coming from poco F1 before I rly like the display (still no oled but way better), with the hifi sound mods great speakers, I did just review on battery life with 16h SOT and may still improvements possible. Cam is quite good (except known garbish macro cam). In comp. to f1 i am happy to finally have space in statusbar again.
Of course one have to consider, its rly cheap, there are better displays, better cams, miui is a topic for itself, some like it, some not, had to wait 1 week instead of 3d for F1 to unlock, it's only mid range soc though all games run fluid depending on graphic settings, it's quite the big phone and take a look into Ergonomics - its not lighweight. But no downsides for me, its def a great phone if one likes all its specs. Like f.e. (F2 Pro with way higher price has Oled, HE SOC, Ufs 3.1 but other than X3 no) microsd. Further 3.5 Jack and Ir port though the Mi App wont recognize my tv or my stb, will look for alternatives.
