I like it but I don't love it, especially because videos are horrible in 4k and stabilization is very bad

Tempted by this phone. Currently have a OnePlus 5t, but love Xiaomi phones and MIUI. Not sure whether to jump on this or hold out for a Mi 8 SE.

Go for the 2s, no notch and the hardware is the same as the M8

I also used to own a 5T and just sold it for a Xiaomi mi mix 2s.
As someone who LOVES stock android, Oxygen OS will always be my favorite mobile OS. After owning 3 different OnePlus Devices, it was hard to go for a Xiaomi....
But the Mi mix 2s has been an AWESOME device so far. Battery life is on par with my 5t. The screen is incredible , the no bezel design is beautiful and I think it is best done on the Mi mix 2s. ( I hate notches). Although it is not amoled, the screen is very good and it works great. MIUI is not as snappy as Oxygen OS, but its still light years ahead of touchwiz and Crapsung experience.
I personally really like wireless charging, and its nice to have it on the Mi Mix 2s. The phone design is my all time favorite. I love the weight of the ceramic and It is hands down the best looking device I have ever seen. However not having a headphone jack is absolute ****.....Dont get me started on that.
The back 2 cameras are stellar and its the main reason I went with the Mi Mix 2s.... As someone who rarely uses the front camera, the quality is really good for a 5mp shooter, but if you are someone who uses it a lot, this phone might not be for you....
Overall, if you can find it for $500usd or less, I think this is the best phone for the price on the market. :good:

I just wondered about something that i saw in xiaomi's forum,i wrote a poat and i was rly angry of this bug collection that i bought(mix2s) and 1 answer just came and said we didnt launch mi mix2s in india and we cant help you????

If only the bezzel (with the front camera) would be on top, it would be a great phone.
I usually give goog things for granted so focusing on the bad:
bottom selfie camera
shiny-way-too-slippery ceramic back (would love a mate version)
no widevine L1 support
no microSD
no 3.5 jack
About the last two dont care so much since i have bluetooth earphones and got an OTG flashdrive (couldnt get the 128 GB version cause out of stock).
ceramic and widevine are not so bad but the selfie camera just kills it. Is such a hazzle to use. if you use it as is you get a massive neck/chin resulting in an awful perspective, and if you rotate the phone say bye to fingerprint shutter and forget whatsapp video call.
Just as someone said before, like it, yeah, love it, NOPE

Yep, I needed to to that several times before to be connected before discovered that this was broken in early 2019 ROMs.
Phone with regular OTA updates and stable official ROM is just unusable, that forced me to unlock and flash. It's shame to brake main functionality of device :/ You can't expect from users to force them to flash phone. You should not force them to use old ROM to make or receive call.
I replaced my old phone to get decent camera, speed and B20 connectivity, but was sure to still have basic gsm, bt and wifi fuctionalities. Yep, cam was not broken

For $300 brand new I have no complaints. Was looking for a notch less phone with a decent camera and good battery life, this phone hits the spot. I rarely take selfie so I don't mind with its front camera. Oh and it has snapdragon 845 chip.

help me anyone mix 2s user
my phone is brick with lockbootloader i tried to flash via miflash (point test) but unlucky have no authorized account someone please help to fix my mix 2s >.<:crying::crying:

I'm very happy with this phone. I bought it new two months ago at a very good price (128gb version), and I'm using it with Nova Launcher and all the Google apps I can manage to install on it instead of the Xiaomi ones (I don't like them). I have no complains so far: no lag, good amount of RAM to keep my apps working in the background, nice screen (right now I still prefer a good IPS versus any Amoled), nice cameras.
And for the odd placement of the selfie camera, I just have installed a little app called 'Rotation' and with a touch in a widget, it forces full rotation so I can turn the phone it to put the camera in the upper, and all will rotate accordingly (android himself, and all the apps). If anything, the selfie camera himself could be better (more angle and better resolution, like the Mi 8 one).

I purchase Mi9se, I use for 2 months and I return it to amazon, because the screen lag...
I write fast and every time the phone just do nothing...
I remember the POCO, I use like a week and I return it....
With mi9se almost have the same issue... Is not software is the screen...
So, I buy this Mix 2s, the only think I don't like is the weight but I understand it...
The poco was 180g, the Mi9se 155g and my old Mi5 127g , Mix2s 190g is heavy but with the weight the you will have to take care more your phone every time...
I don't like Notch, I prefer water drop or nothing..
I like a phone the size of your hand not more.... Like the new phones, are very BIG..
Is like to have to DICKS °lol sorry
Its been 3 days with my Mix2s and I feel fine
I obviously liked it better Mi9se(6gb/64gb) $ 350USD less weight and better cameras, AMOLED...
But I don't care, for the price I pay is fine... 6gb/128gb - $ 312 USD mexico

I don't love any phones lol I like the mi mix 2 but prefer the original mi mix. More screen and overall a better phone in my own opinion. Yes the camera is better, yes there are other bits that's better but the sound volume is way to low through the headphones and overall the sound quality is pants anyway. Luckily I've made this mi mix 2 better by rooting it and installing viper as a fix to the poor low quality sound.
For me to buy the mix 3 if it ever comes out it must have some vast improvements over the mix 2.
Conclusion would I buy this phone again? No I'd buy the Mix "again" and wait for 3 to launch.
Maybe you should think about buying a
headset with aptx support
I buy phones all the time. Currently have a mate 9, honor note 8, s8 plus and mi mix2. Just thought the 2 would be a better phone. It'll be up for sale soon anyways to make way for the s9 ?
by far the worst piece of **** i have ever bought with Mi Mix 1, always software issue and their ****ty MIUI, with fcking stupid bootloader. OnePlus is far far better !

But the decision was yours. Perhaps you should have thought a bit more of IT before buying it.
OK, so i've had this phone a week now, i came from a galaxy s6.
The quality is fantastic for the money, I received the euro version that had english text on the message as you open the box and no problems setting it up.
Weird that people say they have issues with the software, i haven't has a single issue with any apps i used on the S6, banking, email, browsing, games etc. Even Android Auto works exactly as it did previously, which i was surprised about because i heard that there were issues with it not working and was prepared to have to flash to phone to have that work. Not has a single FC.
MIUI is totally fine as a version of android in my opinion, I'm now thinking of sticking with it instead of flashing, which i thought i'd never say tbh. Maybe when lineage oreo is in a close to perfect state then i'll probably move over because i do like stock more, but miui is fine for now.
Battery life has been great, i've had around 1.5 days battery life of normal use, browsing, total of say 30 mins youtube in the daytime, a bit of twitch at lunchtime and general couch browsing/email at night.
Great phone for the money like i said. The single thing i have come across is a weird one, and a non issue really, but when i have the speech audio from android auto such as reading texts or reading out directions, the quality seems like its a low bit rate, where as the s6 was very clear, like listening to a 96k mp3 compared to a 320k mp3.
mi mix 2 is clearly a game phone. It has no ir blaster, no FM radio built in, no audio jack, bad cameras, bad quality sound, crap os(miui). It's a pretty looking device with a powerful chipset though.

400 is cheap especially considering a top range phone will cost u around 700+ and those ones will have much more features.
I paid for mine, brand new sealed 332 € from AliExpress with topcashback. I don't think I can buy a new S8 brand new and sealed for that money. I had before S8 and Mate 10 Pro. I can say I'm more than satisfied what device gives for the value. Earpiece are same like on S8 and Mate 10 Pro. Main speaker is better on Mate 10 Pro when you turn it on landscape. But those chopines/stutter, what I had on S8 and sometimes on Mate, I can't see it on Mi MIX 2.
I'm surprised about the negative feedback about this phone.
I personally am quite touched by it's bang for the buck ratio, but I also enjoy my original Mix, so maybe I'm just biased towards the Mix series?
Back when headphone jacks started disappearing on these devices I was pissed, as I had a pretty decent pair of headphones that would soon be obsolete but ever since I moved onto my Siberia 840 headset I more or less phased out wired audio entirely, making it less of an issue for me.
At this point I consider wired headphones a retro commodity, such as VHS or DVD players.
Great Phone
I only can say the Phone is amazing. I pay 360€ here in Germany, screen is First Classic,Sound ist good, Speed very good. I Love it.

I'm using the mi a2 for a month now, and I love it, it's fast, the bugs are minor (and it was fixed for me in the january update) so there is no reason to not buy it.
I recommend it!

For me, it's worth it, although some user reported some issues but mine is good so far, almost 4 months now..
About LOS, A2 still doesn't have official build or official support yet, maybe soon.. But A2 already got official Pixel Experience rom which is better than stock in my opinion.. You can try other rom like Havoc or Pixys, if you want more customization
And I think you should wait a bit more for Redmi Note 7, it's a bit better than A2, based on the spec sheet
https://m.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_note_7-9513.php
Thanks. I dont want to wait - i need a new phone now. Redmi 7 global is not aviable yet and when its aviable community roms will also take time.
What is with security level in the a2 - is it possible for me to use the tan generator app from my bank ... n ooted phones the app dont starts ....
I am baffled 2irh the idiotic replies here. Nothing to back them up just don't go for it and put.
I change my phone's about 2 times a year and I love the latest Galaxy phone's as of the s7 and s8 with the latter being my favorite phone of all time, but I also like to use budget phone's of time to time to see how they compare. I have used one plus one, OnePlus 3, xiaomi mi a1 mi a2 some Huawei mate series the max series etc. And let me tell you that this phone is equals in terms of quality to most of the phone's I have used sometimes it even exceeds my expectations.
The phone one flaw is the camera, BUT if you are not a camera head you won't notice the difference that much in your day to day casual photos. Now I do notice it but I also use DSLR and come off a expensive phone with amazing camera, but even in my case I don't mind it it is not bad it is ... Just meh or ok.
The software is amazing, it is not perfect as montly security updates slowly become less and less with time, but it is Android ... What can you expect. Yet I have rearlt expiriqnced any bugs or problems with my xiaomi mi a1 or mi a2.
Build quality is equals with all yestaryear high end smartphones (I am saying yestaryear because it is a metal phone not a glass phone). To be fair there is zero difference with a 1000 USD USD phone at all.
These phones are amazing. I don't understand how ppl can sit here and complain about anything about these phones. And when you add in the price... Pffff. Best bang for buck.
I'd recommend to get the 6GB ram version phone for longer future proof if you like to keep your phone snappy for longer and/or to keep your phone longer in general.
Go foe it mate

Hello
No worries on my side with this phone
tldr: if you plan for custom roms get a redmi or poco f1. mi a2 is meant to be used stock.
it's biggest problem for banking apps is the lack of nfc.
with mi a2 you pay extra for android one (included in the phone price). if you dont want the official support(stock) then get a phone that doesnt include this.
if you want a better android one go for a nokia
Using this phone for 4-5 months and it's been pretty good. However one downside I would say is the battery. If you're a heavy user it will be pretty tough to make it to a day without charging (especially gaming). Otherwise no issues.

I second that. Battery for me has been a killer with light use of 3 days no charge and heavy use a day with zero issues. Optimisation is key but you can easily get 5+ sot easy.
PS: I do not game on my phone I work on it and with it. So that might be something I cannot comment on.
I can recommend this for the price if you like android one. If you can pay more pick a pocophone (it's day and night)
As almost everyone has said, it is a good phone, specially for the price. Coming from a Nexus 6P I was happily surprised by the performance, I can play quite a few GameCube games on Dolphin and games like Tekken, FIFA, Asphalt 9 and Horizon Chase run really well. I haven't tested Fortnite nor PUBG, cause those are not my type of games, but I've seen videos where those run fine. The only downsides are the battery (could be bigger, but it can last a day with moderate use) and the lack of Camera2Api support out of the box. If you value Android One, this is a great phone, you could check some Nokia phones but those tend to be a bit more expensive. If you don't care about MIUI, you can get a Redmi Note 5 Pro or 6 Pro, or the Mi 8 Lite. Those have similar specs, bigger batteries and might be cheaper or the same price.
It's awesome phone for that price ... Especially if you flash some custom rom and root ...
I'm not thrilled. using it for a few months now. general speed is ok. unfortunately bug fixes (including maxed out CPUs) and updates are not xiaomi's priority. you get what you pay for i guess. (even though the hardware is ok for that price)
also: hands off Nokia of you ask me. check out the anger in their Nokia 8 forum for example. they are treating their customers worse than any other company.

Switching away from MI A1. Which phone to go for next?

Hi,
I think it is kinda my fault, but this is the second time my screen broke from just 6 inch drop. And last service centre kinda screwed up the back panel so now camera gets dirty from inside.
Now, I am thinking instead of fixing the screen and back panel again, it is better to move to new device. Obviously Android one is a priority but not a big deal. I want to just find a phone with super fast charging and decent cpu for less than 20k INR. Couldn't give a crap about camera or selfies to be honest. So, I am focusing on oppo r17 pro and vivo v15 for now. Although I heard about mi's 100w charging. Is there any phone with that tech coming out in next few weeks? I guess I can hold off on the purchase till next month easy.
Anyway point is, I am looking for suggestions on a better phone to switch to. Something that doesn't bother with cameras and focuses on raw power or battery instead.
I'm looking at the Mi9 at this point. My Mi A1 is on the verge of unusable now. Battery still drains 30 to 40% overnight since android Pie and now my on-/off-button has decided to open my camera most of the time or just do nothing the remainder of the time. My GPS seems to always think that I'm driving on top of buildings or just doesn't find a signal. Apps like Google Maps have become so laggy that I can't even type text in the search bar.
Android Pie really ruined this device for me.
I would go for Pocophone f1.
I'd suggest the Mi 9t, or wait for the Mi Max 4.
My A1 is still perfectly fine, but I keep an eye open for a possible replacement. Android One and easy bootloader unlocking is a must for me, so this rules out almost all manufacturers. Nokia looks promising, but their stupid policy with bootloader unlocking prohibits any custom development. Pixel 3a is just a bit too expensive and doesn't have a SD card slot. I guess I'll just wait for Mi A3.. If I wouldn't care about root and related stuff, I would surely pick something from Nokia line.

Why the Mi 9t? I feel like it's not as good as the Mi 9. What makes you move in that direction?
The issue is that price of phones are getting higher and higher everywhere... I first thought I would not buy Xiaomi anymore, but now when my A1 dies I'm thinking Mi A2 or hopefully A3 by then, if it's not too expensive (or A2/3 lite).
Android One is a must for me, I don't want any MIUI sh*t on my phone

I'm looking at the Mi 9T right now. It's so damn hot. My Mi A1 is usable but not suitable for my developer stuff. Battery is OK, surprisingly no issues there. My power button is also nearly unusable, double or triple clicks 80% of the time, I feel your pain. My GPS also doesn't work like at all. It takes so much time to lock, it just constantly shows that I'm in my house, when I'm for example driving on a trip, 200+ KM away from my home city. In these moments it doesn't even know it doesn't work and sometimes it takes so long to lock location (I'm talking 10+ minutes) that I just end up asking someone else to give me their phone to check where am I. The device isn't laggy overall but the eMMC write speed has degraded 2-3 times and sometimes I get a significant stutter (unusable point) for something like 1-2 minutes until it fixes itself and continues working as usual.
Overall pretty great as a 1.5 year old budget phone, my past experiences have been worse. I'm looking into the Mi 9T.

Couldn't agree more.
I'm waiting for Mi A3/A3Lite but I'm afraid I'm going to lose some of the features that made me "fell in love" with MI A1:
-Optical zoom
-SD card
-FM radio
-3,5 mm jack
-easy unlock method
-selling price <220$ (200€)
If Xiaomi will make a 2019 mid-range smartphone with these features (and possibly add some useful stuff like OIS or wide-angle camera) I'm going to buy it at day one.
But I don't think it's gonna happen

500€ here in Italy. I won't spend over 250€ for a phone.
For €250 you can either buy used phone or something from Xiaomi, Meizu and similar companies that sell cheap phones. If you like to put Custom ROM, look for a phone with good dev support.
I don't know, maybe RN7 Pro if you can get it...Or wait for Mi A3, it should be awesome phone and price is speculated to be around 280 USD which is around 250 Euros.

Personal Advice: Don't get a Nokia phone. I thought the new Nokia keep their phones overpriced because you're paying for quality and support. Not the case. I recommended Nokia phones to a few relatives, all got problems. Ranging from not charging from time to time, to much bigger stuff like not receiving notifications from messaging at all, even resetting the device and disabling battery optimization.
Many may disagree with me but Nokia phones, even ones part of Android One, are in fact NOT stock Android. It looks like Stock Android but it doesn't *feel* that way. There are soo many changes under-the-hood, the phone works worse than it should with "stock" Android. The software, as pure as it is, has sooo many glitches and I just don't know why. Updates fix and break things constantly. How can you mess up stock Android?! How does that even happen?!
At least in my opinion, Nokia phones from HMD Global bring tons of headaches and aren't reliable at all. Add the ultra high prices for what you get and it becomes the brand to avoid in all cases. Better just get another Android One. The best Android One phone right now IMO is the Motorola One Vision. Performance is little on the weaker side but is still 2x better than Snapdragon 625 and not much worse than a Pixel 3a. Otherwise the phone has an SD card slot, really solid cameras (again, subjective but photos seem excellent to my eye), good battery life, super attractive design with that hole punch, 21:9 screen and the ergonomic body and all that comes for a price right around 300 Euro (even less in some markets).
Thanks for the advice and warning. I will check Motorola in more details, just hope that it isn't as big as other Motorolas which I was considering before (at least I remember them being large ). Mi A1 is probably the biggest form factor which I accept. In fact I would prefer smaller phone, but such aren't really being produced anymore (or they're so crippled in HW that it doesn't make sense to buy them).

Mi9 SE is a very good phone and it's not so big, but it lacks 3.5mm Jack and SD card. And it's not Android One.

I have checked the One Vision in person and compared to my Mi A1 it's even smaller. It's the same height but it's narrower.
Vision one looked fine, until I found this post

I know that many phones have bugs, especially soon after their release, but bootloop just because of using fingerprint unlock or changing the default USB mode is a show stopper for me.
I will check the development progress from time to time, hopefully there will be TWRP and Magisk available soon and fixes to stock ROM. Luckily I am in no hurry to move from A1 at the moment, so I'll wait for A3 as well.

Come on! It's just one minor bug, don't act like A1 didn't have like million of these. It will surely be fixed in the next update. The One Vision is a great phone and I personally think Mi A series don't have anything to impress me anymore. In fact my next phone is NOT going to be an Android One. I'm more of a Xiaomi fanboy, so I'll go with the Mi 9T. I love MIUI, as weird as it sounds. But for people who need stock, I still recommend the One Vision.

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Redmi Note 8 Pro, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Redmi Note 8 Pro is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I love my RN7,now falling in love in my RN8 pro..
It's amazing..and yes.. you can love your phone ?
Love speed, camera, battery. For me personally it's far better then my former phone (Mi Mix 2s)
Little cons:
- notification LED is far too small
- backside is too slippery (I won't use it without a case)
Display.. this is the perfect size and I love this phone..
Battery.. ?
I have ordered the phone 6/128 variant, will get tomorrow or day after. I'm excited but worrisome about the camera result at the same time. Let's see
Mine should also arrive tomorrow. I went with 6/64 variant, but that's good enough for me. Will report after a couple of days of use.
This is a really good phone at a really good price.
I just love the battery charging speed in this price segment.
I got my phone today and reading mode is turned off still at night, my display seems yellowish.
Check the screenshot.
This phone is everything I expected and more. The only few cons are overshadowed by it's price. Guess everyone was wrong about G90T. No oveeheating, smooth peeformance all the way. Also... more than decent primary shooter, great battery life,... Glad I went for this over P20 Lite. And cheaper too. Now only thing left is the wait until MIUI 11.
my good old Samsung Note 4 broke down, now I also have a Redmi Note 8 Pro, I love the phone too xD
Phone is awesome
Note 8 Pro Love
Had my phone a couple of days - upgraded from redmi note 7. So far loving it, seems really quick and glad to now have NFC. Face unlock is very quick and the main camera seems to be good - more testing needed though. Only annoying thing is lack of HD playback on Netflix.

I like this phone. Good quality, very fast, and battery life is amazing. My biggest downfall is lacking immediate bootloader unlock and lack of ROMs. I am hoping this phone will become more free and capable of customization.
The phone is really good and fast, apart from few problems, everything else is love. Camera is having some real issues and those for sure are due to software. Hardware for the main camera is the same as Realme XT then why improved video quality for XT? Xiaomi needs to improve the camera software so that you can rate this phone 10/10.
USA version that works with AT&T
Can any verify if RN8 / Pro will support AT&T LTE?

If your carrier have LTE, phone support it.
I have 4G+ with my provider. Telenor
By far the best 230$ I've ever spent on a device. Just updated to miui 11 they def made some great improvements. My gf has a big gig note 9 she's like I want a RN8 pro her daughter has a S8 plus she's ordering one today. The camera and fluidness with this phone is amazing. Say what you want but this mediatek soc gets things done. There's rumors of a SD 730g series RN 8 pro but it's not going to happen it's a rumor so people are waiting for that variant to come out. Lol enjoy your wait.
Hello! Do you have information when the pixel experience firmware comes out on Redmi Note 8 Pro?
Bought it online China set China rom with installed Google 8/126, tried to find indian version due to dedicated sd card but not available. Previously owns mi max prime with global rom and it was easy to play with because google is available.
With RN8P china set/rom i had to explore deeply especially when using the browser which automatically give us several option either using baidu or sm (dun know what is this). Even cant use in app purchase at first which makes me feel little disappointed and ready to unlock and install global rom  and already download the software to start the operation
Luckily, after exploring in the phone i can change the browser in english permanently (unless i reset it) and also watched in youtube how to enable in app purchase if using china rom.
Now i feel happy because the replacement of my loyal mi max prime is up to my standard
Camera: Excellent with lot of option (i'm not expert but it looks great) dont need gcam...for now
Speed/Charging: Fast response
Network: Sometime I've got 4+ even though my line is supporting up to 4g only
Memory: Great, 126gb is my minimum standard requirement, can expand it using sd card
Keyboard: I'm using xperia
Gaming: Not a fan for heavy games for android. Got only Clash of Clans and Candy Crush...yeah just 2:laugh: but kind noticed the changing in temperature at back body.
Sound: Loud and clear, need to memorized that the ear speaker hole is just at the top edge
Processor: MTK? SD? nah....i'm not an expert
Satisfaction: Human never satisfied..just call it enough to sustain at least 2 years from now

Opinions

Hey, I'm looking into getting an upgrade from a rn7. I was thinking of getting the mi A3 or the mi 9 lite. Checked at one of the mi stores and saw that the mi9T's price is not that far off from the other two. Would the 9T be worth it? Saw some issues on the forum about the whole sensors thing. Only way to avoid that is to not tamper with the rom right? Any input would be appreciated. :fingers-crossed:
The phone overall is great with no compromises considering the price. Sensors are working alright with roms (depending on what rom you use as most of them are still under development).

As a owner i don't advice to get the Mi9t. I would get the A3 or the Mi9t PRO.
We have great, but very few devs and i though i would love the popup camera but i hate it
I got the Global Xiaomi MI 9T here in Mexico
I sold my Iphone X and realized that my economy at the momment cant afford an expensive device anymore.
I got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 pro , was crazy cheap, i was like "let's mod it, doesn´t matter if i brick it"...
What an awesome device, custom comunity was rich, lots of roms, kernels and stuff.... it was a really fun adventure, what an awesome Price/Spec device...
OK, then i wanted to upgrade to a Mid Range Phone with an oled screen , the screen of my RN5pro was broken...
I was between the normal RN7 and for more money the Mi 9T global 128gb (at the price of the 64gb)... so i picked the 9T...
At the begining i was very happy but with time my opinion changed , i regret not taking the RN7 (non pro)....
Ok...
The custom rom comunity is beginning, only very few devs for roms and they need support , the 9T was rapidly shadowed by his Pro brother the Mi 9T Pro...
My phone is Stock i only unlocked the bootloader ready to flash the only official custom rom... Havoc
Stock MIUI in the global version comes with google and Xiaomi Apps , double apps.... Gmail-Xiaomi Mail , etc , the usual bloatware of xiaomi , i use the Java tool to debloat it, now is more light...
GPS works good ( i use it every day), everything in stock just WORKS , nothing rare or buggy.
I only play clash royale, a light game no problem...
Device is too wide, like the redmi N5pro i had.... i dont like wide phones anymore, it's heavy, that gives you a quality feel but too heavy to stay at bed with the phone...
Screen quality for me is just ok, i love oled since my S8, this phone in my opinion was like my RN5 pro with oled...
The same for performance, my broken RN5pro almost with any custom rom feels the same as my Mi 9T....
Sound is ok , the fast charge is great and the adapter comes in the box, the battery is just average for that huge size, is more the restrictive work of MIUI....
The pop up camera ... i don't take many selfies is below at this price range.... the main camera is ok, gcam doesn't improve it dramatically like my RN5pro, looks almost the same ...
I prefer IP68 with notch than a pop up camera... i had an S8
Overall... is a very, very average device, an OK device, doesnt shine in anything but doesn't falls in anything.... with a grey future thanks to the Pro version, we need to keep motivated the devs ...
Im gonna say, go for the normal Redmi Note 8 in 64gb , save money, it's gonna have a HUGE rom development thanks to the pro's mediatek....lol
i should instead got the RN7 or waited for the 8 (normal versions not pro) or for a little more a brand new S9(normal for the width size) or other last year flagship that dropped the price...
Sorry for my english, in general terms, get a 9T if is pretty cheap...it's doesnt shine and doesnt dissapoint....
It's just my opinion, i had many flagships in the past but economy is ****ty in my country and i was looking for new options.... Xiaomi is the brand to go for custom rom/price/performance relation, but you have to choose the right device....

Thanks very much for your input. Im considering the mi 9T because of the 730, I kinda do mobile gaming like CoD and vainglory so the 730 would be a great upgrade. The other phone I'm considering that's officially released here is the mi A3. I saw the mi 9T and yes it's kind of wide. Have you encountered any issues with your unit so far?

The pop-up camera kinda worries me too. A3 is one of the options, though a bit bad spec wise, but official Android 10 would be great. Thanks for the suggestions.

That's funny, what you feel and where you come from is my history.
Here in Brazil. i got the Redmi Note 5 Pro too, crazy cheap, build quality is great (i actually miss it slimmer and metal body, i prefere it over the Mi9t Glass thicker body) and the FP sensor may be on the back but it worked like a charm.
Mi9t is a phone that i kind of regret to buy, i should got the PRO version to have amazing mod community that they have.

The problem is that the software bugs it easy, only by flashing a new ROM, it broke 2 times and i could ONLY fix by flash a new persist partition AND LOSE MY L1 DRM.. When i say broke it's not even that it wont open.. but all the time it open and close with a nasty error message
Hey guys, you can't say that this phone isn't good just because there aren't many roms for it...
"Average battery"???
Tell me,how many phones can last a day and a half - two with 10h SOT with one charge?
This phone is great,I love everything on it :good:

I have a mi 9t and my girlfriend too, both devices working great (my pop up camera makes a louder noise than my girlfriend's but it turns out other people have this issue, and it's normal) so don't worry about it. Performance excellent, love the phone, I used a mi a2 before and I tought I would switch to a custom rom instantly but now I love miui, so I recommend it.
And yeah if light use, easy two day battery life (I have 2 phones to prove it, believe me, great battery life!)
Thanks guys. Can you give me you opinions about gaming and audio quality via headphone jack as well?
