I plan on posting the image as soon as I get the touchscreen working correctly, and WiFi would be a bonus too. Still figuring it all out, but I can guarantee you'd be disappointed if I released right now

I think a torrent would be best, that way we wouldn't have to download it all at once
I'm just curious, what are the advantages of meego over ios, winmo, or even android?

MeeGo is a full Linux distribution, using X11, so it's very portable. Both Nokia and Intel will be putting a lot of effort into MeeGo to make it perfect for phones and tablets, and it's super slick and multi-touch enabled, etc.
I agree with the rest steve this is how it would most likely play out if you release it now
if you release it now you open many doors to lots of other devs ready to tweak it and improve it just look how far android has come in less than 6 months i mean we have fully functional builds and by different devs each improving in other words if ya notice when mdeejay would release a fix for something no one else could find darkstone would implement it on his next build or vice versa. so by releasing this beta stage of meego you open many opportunities and most likely speed up the process. PLEASE STEVE RELEASE AN ALPHA BUILD WE ALL KNOW WHAT WERE GOING TO EXPECT remember android builds that were extremely unstable? im sure i speak for alot of people
(or atleaste update us with videos on how its going if you dont want to release an alpha build) YOUR STILL THE BEST ive been wanting meego over android for a long time now

I'm getting help with the touchscreen stuff, so won't be releasing anything until I know it's working perfectly. Might take a couple days, be patient!
I'd love to see meego on my HD2! I was actually really torn between the Hd2 and n900 when I was looking for a new phone. Loved the looks of maemo and possibilities of meego but couldn't get past the n900's hardware

Meanwhile, about all this homework I've got piled up for uni...
This is not a request to get, rather wanting information on how possible it would be.
Would it be possible to port Sailfish with what has been open sourced for the OP5? Also, would anyone be interested if I made the resulting build available to all? I'd likely make it available regardless.
Would love to see this ported to the op5.
of course.
me to
I think it would be difficult until SFOS is based on LOS14. Right now the latest SFOS is based on CM13. There isn't an Android 6.0 kernel for the OP5...
-------------------------------------------------------------
Hybris-14.1 is out there, so porting may be possible
I will port Sailfish OS on Oneplus 5 as soon as I buy the device I don't see a problem in using the 7.x or 8.x kernel, can get it to boot with those also

Have you made any attempts at porting SFOS for the OnePlus 5?
I'm currently attempting to port SFOS for the OP5. I'm encountering some problems at the moments (bootloops, no GUI).
I've made an installable zip of SFOS 2.1.3.7 for the OnePlus 5... however, the current issue is that I cannot telnet into the device via USB to figure out where it's failing since kernel 4.4 needs some usb fix for mainline kernel testing. See http://www.merproject.org/logs/#sailfishos-porters/#sailfishos-porters.2017-11-19.log.html for the conversation regarding "usb gadget"
---------------------------------------------UPDATE-------------------------------------------------------
22Nov17 - I found a solution to the kernel 4.4 usb_gadget issue (https://developer.ridgerun.com/wiki/index.php/How_to_use_USB_device_networking) I am now able to telnet into my OnePlus 5 with the Mer Boat Loader running. Hopefully more progress will follow.
07Dec17 - New Update. I now have UI/touch input working on the OnePlus 5. Now the rest of the debugging begins.
https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/KMXGNgEZ
Good news!
Man, I forget to actually get on XDA, and someone steps up to fill the shoes I haven't been able to fill, made me remember why I like this community.
08Dec17 Update
Some more pictures of SFOS running on the OP5. I would classify this as a pre-alpha build. I will try to work out all of the bugs as soon as I can.
What Works:
GUI
Touch input
Vibration (somewhat)
What Doesnt work:
Cellular/wlan/bluetooth
Sound
Camera
Most likely other key functions...
Excellent!
This thread deserves more attention. As far as all the basic functions are working, I will switch to SFOS as my new daily driver. Thanks for your time and work :victory:
I'm working diligently to get this more stable. I won't post it until it has basic cell/wifi working. All thanks goes to my wife who gets annoyed when I'm constantly working on this project. Haha
Thanks for your hard work!

Good stance to take, mate! You have a far better chance of getting it up working than I do with most of my programming knowledge being limited to bash scripting. If you need a second pair of eyes on the code, though, I'm up for at least trying to understand it.
Could be worth looking into halium , there's porting work happening for the OP5. Sailfish os could potentially run on top of it.

I dont know how far along Halium is for the OP5. I've been trying to get ahold of MarioGrip for a few weeks now. I was able to get the UI started with the help of mal, guhl, zhxt, and many others. Check my work on github (www.github.com/xreactx) if you or anyone else wants to see where i may be wrong. My next step is to try and get the wifi to work, then cellular.
What is so especially at Sailfish OS ?
Well guy's, let's face it: Will there be official LineageOS 15 support running Oreo for our beloved 1+5?
Time will tell.. there are allready pretty good unofficial LOS (or LOS) based Oreo's outthere. For me personal i don't care, i will stick in the future on a nice AOSP based one
I don't see why there wouldn't be. It's not like it is an old device. And it's pretty dev friendly too.
Yes. There's no official version yet because LOS itself is not ready yet, not just for our device.
Blu Spark released a unified kernel that works on both the OP5 & 5T so it seems possible that there might also be unified builds of ROMs which would make it more likely the OP5 will continue to be supported. If unified ROM builds are very difficult or impossible then there's probably a good chance independent development will dry up for the OP5. The phone was only out for 4 months so it might be hard for devs to justify much more active development on the OP5.
I really hope that the development section won't ditch 1+5. I'm really enjoying this device so far.
LineageOS 15 would be such a blessing on this device
Of course it will be supported, it's already on the list of supported devices for Lineage and there's going to be official source so why wouldn't it be supported? LineageOS 15 isn't ready yet. Be patient.
Also, apparently they're going to go straight to 8.1 as a base so we probably won't get official LineageOS 15, it'll go straight to 15.1.
See their recent announcement here.

It may be on the immediate list of supported devices but be realistic--the OP5 was on the market for 4 months. How long do you think developers will continue to support a device that the manufacturer clearly didn't care about?

Are you serious? There are 5 yr old devices still supported by LineageOS, the Nexus 4 for example : https://download.lineageos.org/mako (Released 13 November 2012), even the OnePlus One and 2 are still supported and they're 2 and 3 yrs old.
Chill out, the OP5 will be supported for quite a while.
As for the OP5 being on the market for 4 months, everyone knew the 5T was coming, the exact same thing happened with the 3/3T, those now have unified builds, the same thing will happen with 5/5T, there's no emergency here. lol
Honestly.. There is a Thread about unofficial Oreo LineageOS already out in the Dev- Section. So what is this about? A bit of looking around would have answered that question
I was just curious about if it will be official or not. I'm aware of the fact that there are already some builds up and running.
Nokia 7 plus has Android P beta. It's an Android One phone.
So can we have this Android P beta ported to our device as our device is also Android One?
May be in the end of this year
There is always a possibility, but it requires some knowledge, first you need to pick a factory image of P and strip the system from it, making something similar to GSI , then use a tool like Capire le Tremble to make it flashable to our device, plus some heavy work on debuging like erfanoabdi made on Moto Z
No possibility: http://en.miui.com/thread-1979446-1-1.html

Nokia 7 plus got p beta early because it supports project treble
We may see 9.0 officially at the end of august. Sources say nokia will get it at this time. So stop hoping about p beta for a while.

Yeah i noticed that
I have seen that many phones like the galaxy S3 still have support with the new roms and have even reached android 12. I would like to see android 9/10/11/12 on this tablet, I don't care about lag, I don't care about bugs , is there anyone who tried to build a rom? I would be very interested.

Mighty is one who did successfully build android 8.1 for it. You could ask him about building android ROMS for it
Busy with irl things nowadays, it might take sometime for the new roms, afaik we can go till android 11 relatively easily, 12 needs major kernel updates for internet(wlan)
