Well guy's, let's face it: Will there be official LineageOS 15 support running Oreo for our beloved 1+5?
Time will tell.. there are allready pretty good unofficial LOS (or LOS) based Oreo's outthere. For me personal i don't care, i will stick in the future on a nice AOSP based one
I don't see why there wouldn't be. It's not like it is an old device. And it's pretty dev friendly too.
Yes. There's no official version yet because LOS itself is not ready yet, not just for our device.
Blu Spark released a unified kernel that works on both the OP5 & 5T so it seems possible that there might also be unified builds of ROMs which would make it more likely the OP5 will continue to be supported. If unified ROM builds are very difficult or impossible then there's probably a good chance independent development will dry up for the OP5. The phone was only out for 4 months so it might be hard for devs to justify much more active development on the OP5.
I really hope that the development section won't ditch 1+5. I'm really enjoying this device so far.
LineageOS 15 would be such a blessing on this device
Of course it will be supported, it's already on the list of supported devices for Lineage and there's going to be official source so why wouldn't it be supported? LineageOS 15 isn't ready yet. Be patient.
Also, apparently they're going to go straight to 8.1 as a base so we probably won't get official LineageOS 15, it'll go straight to 15.1.
See their recent announcement here.

It may be on the immediate list of supported devices but be realistic--the OP5 was on the market for 4 months. How long do you think developers will continue to support a device that the manufacturer clearly didn't care about?

Are you serious? There are 5 yr old devices still supported by LineageOS, the Nexus 4 for example : https://download.lineageos.org/mako (Released 13 November 2012), even the OnePlus One and 2 are still supported and they're 2 and 3 yrs old.
Chill out, the OP5 will be supported for quite a while.
As for the OP5 being on the market for 4 months, everyone knew the 5T was coming, the exact same thing happened with the 3/3T, those now have unified builds, the same thing will happen with 5/5T, there's no emergency here. lol
Honestly.. There is a Thread about unofficial Oreo LineageOS already out in the Dev- Section. So what is this about? A bit of looking around would have answered that question
I was just curious about if it will be official or not. I'm aware of the fact that there are already some builds up and running.

Hi fellows,
I've just bought this phone and I'm curious to understand why
2nd gen Moto E isn't officially supported by CyanogenMod
while its older brother does it ?

The device is new and the CM ports are still under development. The CM ports will be made official in time once things have settled down. The development process for official support is more involved (with regards to approvals etc). Early development is easier in an unofficial form.
One common misconception is that a device will be better supported if it is official. That is generally not the case. You don't magically get more developers. The developers who use this device are the ones who maintain the ports for it. Sometimes others in the CM community fix things that break the build when something else is changed in CM, but generally it will be the same people who developed the unofficial port who maintain the official one. For example, scritch007 and percy_g2 developed the unofficial condor port, and continue to maintain it in its official state. When things are ready, scritch007 will start the process to have surnia made official, and I will do so for otus. I will also probably be working with scritch to make condor use the same kernel as otus.
With regards to the current rate of development on otus, which some have been asking about, I've been a bit busy for the past week and will continue to be so till mid August, but the pace of development should pick up again after that. I will probably look at having otus made official some time in September, at which point things will hopefully be mostly ready.
Both scritch and I welcome anyone interested in contributing to development on these devices.
ok, thank you!
I was wondering about if it was an hardware issue:
- too much new SoC
- new 64bit architecture
but you pointed out to a completely different and simpler situation
Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying a OP2, and yesterday I recieved my invite, but I don't want Oxygen OS because I usually do hard modding stuff, so I would need at least CM12.1 and starting from there maybe a ROM like RR or AOKP.
But the CM development is still in process. So my question is, it's real thing for sure in time (I don't care how much time)? Or it may be the possibility that CM never comes??
Thanks.
I'd say: Wait until they got Android M managed. It's possible that CM 12.1 will never be that important for us, because all hopes are in Android M and it's possibility to get at least the fingerprint working. Fallout 4 also made us wait longer, because most devs are overwhelmed from it (me too ). Also the OPT isn't that frequented until now, so... it's too early to discuss about general abilities. But I doubt, OPT won't get CM. Too many were hyped and it's a damn good phone - not only for the price. Let's hope, devs will get the needed support from OnePlus to get their sources working. Fingers crossed .

Apparently he already answered right?
With the kernel sources released I'd thought there'd be more roms, especially official, but it seems pretty dry. What do you think is the reason for that?
Impatience
Have You even looked into the development thread??
Give the dev's some space, they're all doing the work on their spare time!
Since the dawn of evolution I'd thought there'd be more sensible people, especially ones who do understand their surrounding, but it failed and here we are. What do you think is the reason for that?
You had this coming.
Enough trolling.
LOS 15.1 (we are considering it because of the vast userbase compared to other custom/aftermarket roms) was made official not so long ago. And only handful of devices are supported ( drumroll for flagship devices). Once major bugs are fixed, device roster for 15.1 will have many more devices (pretty sure ours too then again you never know).
And that takes time. It's easily hundreds of hours of work. Devs work on their free time.
You may be wondering xiaomi released sources for nougat kernel and NOUGAT roms are available for all supported devices.
Making/compiling nougat rom for a device that is officially running oreo is just waste of time and resources in general. (All the effort done to do the same for our device is greatly appreciated). But for major roms like LOS it's not a viable option.
Long story short it takes time. Alot of time. And maybe never. Let's keep our fingers crossed and devices ready for testing.
Regards.
Title says it all. This is simply unacceptable. I am sure as hell not asking for LOS 14.1 support on the page, an official rom should never be released with a broken camera. Needless to say I plan on making LOS 13 builds because I do enjoy a stable Nexus 10 with EVERYTHING working, also I need to switch to LOS13 as a Sailfish OS base as opposed to LOS14.1 for kernel related reasons andas such need up to date builds which I have no access to (at least for now ha ha ha).
Is there anyone who would actually be interested in this? I am making some LOS 13 images regardless, I love this tablet, more so than my new Nexus 9 (the N9 is phenomenal though, perfect tablet IMO, I got a good one). Neat side note: I have now owned and used every single Nexus tablet ever made up to the Nexus 9, and soon, a Pixel C. I am proud of this fact. Nexus 10 is the best one for sure though.

Yes, I use one of the latest official LOS 13 builds and have no plans to move to a more new but less functional ROM.

Just got back from kakadu and my latest May 12th Build is finished. gonna start a development thread today once it uploads to Gdrive and I test it.
If you don't mind, could you please let me know which LOS 13 version is the most stable with headphone jack working? I am on a nougat rom and would like to move back to something more stable
Well, I use lineage-13.0-20180114..., the headphone jack works, but you have to reboot the tablet to switch the output back to the speakers.
Don't know which one was the last ROM without this bug.
This device has been out for a while now. If LineageOS is not officially supporting it yet, does it imply there is no plan to support this device? I know there are other ROMs that are already officially supporting this device. I am leaning toward LOS because it's been around for a long time and likely would continue to be, ie. I'll still get updates years down the road. Other ROMs tend to come and go, and you don't know when they will stop updating for this device. Thanks
