Nokia 7 plus has Android P beta. It's an Android One phone.
So can we have this Android P beta ported to our device as our device is also Android One?
May be in the end of this year
There is always a possibility, but it requires some knowledge, first you need to pick a factory image of P and strip the system from it, making something similar to GSI , then use a tool like Capire le Tremble to make it flashable to our device, plus some heavy work on debuging like erfanoabdi made on Moto Z
No possibility: http://en.miui.com/thread-1979446-1-1.html

Nokia 7 plus got p beta early because it supports project treble
We may see 9.0 officially at the end of august. Sources say nokia will get it at this time. So stop hoping about p beta for a while.

I'm disappointed. I really hoped that it would get it with the Xperia Z3 N Preview program. What was the point of that ??

I am both surprised and disappointed. The Z3C is a great device, and the failure by Sony to update it to Nougat is anticlimactic, to say the least. I was planning to buy the tablet; I guess I'll have to look elsewhere now
It's actually a bit more complicated than that. I've read from a few sources that actually Google is to blame for removing msm8974 code from AOSP and so Sony has no option but to deny an official Nougat update to these devices. As for the fact that the z3 phone got some N preview builds, well, they stopped at build 3, it didn't recieve builds 4 and 5. It is assumed that it's cause it's actually in build 4 that Google removed code for our SoC. We'll see how things turn out.
EDIT: It turns out it might even be on Qualcomm as it is the chipset manufacturer to decide whether it will support and make drivers for their chipset that work with the new OS version. Although I doubt such decisions are made without consulting Google.

Interesting. I had no idea it went that deep to google and Qualcomm even.
Oh well it's a shame as as the z3 compact is a great device. The best tablet I've ever owned for sure. And I've had a few. Would have been nice to have true android multitasking windows.
That's really all I wanted for the Z3T : native multi-window.
If only they were developers working on the Z3 line... :/
I realize our device is old, but what we need is a little push in our dev scene. I remember for the Xperia Z Ultra some users got together and paid a dev to develop a kernel. Maybe something similar has been done here?
Either way, we aren't that many here which means there are even less devs. Could we manage to scrape together an amount any good dev would consider to build us a working, updated build of Nougat or Cyanogen?
But ...
developer.sonymobile.com/build-aosp-nougat-7-0
or don't work for this tablet?
I'm fairly sure that if there was more interest for the Z3 Tablet, we'd get decent Nougat custom roms in the end. But the devs are just not there. We could always make a bounty but these things don't work out so well most of the time...

I suppose scorpion_windy is for our devices? And will it work with the sgp 611?
sgp611 is the wifi-only model and codenamed scorpion_windy.
i've got the lte version -> scorpion.
new builds are up at https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=109243
edit: after some testings this is not ready as a daily driver because on reboot i get sometimes a bootloop and without fastboot and reflash it often won`t boot.
hopefully cm14 will come along quicker with this as base.
I didn't think there was an unlock for the 621?

I was just wondering if anyone thinks we will ever get a port of the MIUI or EMUI roms or ones like them? Someone may already be working on one but I think having one would be awesome. Anyone have interest in these roms other than me?

Yes, MIUI with all the features would be a great experience.
Miui 8 would be awesome... would totally use it if no major bugs

I just read that AOSPA is in the works again, it would be awesome if they supported Potter as well. So many roms I want to flash and try!
MIUI a definite must. Love that setup!

Was reading on their G+ page that there is already a booting version of AOSPA for Potter. :good: they're just testing it along with the One Plus One and a couple other devices
Currently I have played a bit with ubuntu via linux deploy, but I would really like to have something more native like ubuntu touch.
And I am happy to know and also to tell you that the project is going very well, maintained by the Ubports Team and that the Halium project can make everything more pleasant not only for ubuntu but also for other linux projects / distributions.

Generally people buy Moto phones for stock android if you are interested in MIUI you should have bought Redmi note 4 which is even cheaper then Moto G5 plus and has 64 android Although miui looks like bloat and cheap mock off of iPhone to me.
I'm in the US on the Verizon network the redmi note doesn't work here on Verizon. I was just asking about general interest in the very popular MIUI and EMUI ROMs. They exist for dozens of devices that aren't redmi devices.

I didn't bought my moto g5 plus for just using stovk android i bought it because it is high end processing device and works perfectly i just want some more customization and want to use different roms mostly emui (not miui).. and yes emui doesn't look like any of that it's cool and more vibrant
MIUI and Flyme Os! emui 5
MIUI 9 and Flyme OS(whenever it will be launched for nougat) are the most awaited roms For MOTO G5 PLUS! Even EMUI 5 Is good and feels like stock android with app drawer n Customizations!!

Sorry I sound rude but I wanted to say that even if Moto G5 plus has 64bit processor it doesn't have 64bit os and never will be on the other hand Redmi note 4 has 64bit os also. So in my opinion people bought Moto because they love stock os over miui.
Hi,
I hope vache or any developer cab port the Redmi A1 Android One ROM for our device. Considering both Moto G5 Plus and Redmi A1 shares the same choose, it can make things easier.
My 2 cent for the day.
Thanks

I wish they would just not get mad when people came with rom suggestions. They always take things the wrong way. Would love a rom port of that phone.

First off MIUI is not much "ios inspired" anymore
If anything, its an excellent non stock rom
Secondly Android One is stock android......

How is is this preferred over stock? Both Android One and Moto are basically stock Android... AO gets a nod because of regular consistent updates direct from Google that a port would not get, so what the advantage?

We had one 1 update for device in the last 5 months. Our device is vunlurable to tons of security threats. Moto is unable to fix the basic calling feature our device.
If we have A1 stock ROM Port, this means:
We will have regular monthly security updates
Super Stable and blazing Fast ROM
and maybe Fixes for Sound, Loudspeaker
This sounds exciting or boring?

You definitely don't know how a port works...
Not because you port a rom you will get updates to it... The work you're asking means a port per month... Porting ROMs is a lot of work... Not a thing to do every time the A1 gets an update... If you want fixes and security patches, go for a custom ROM.
And no. You will not get regular security updates from port... You will not just fake your phone as if it was a A1... The servers will not send you updates... Is not how ported ROMs work... It is like porting a S8 en AND hope to get updates from Samsung instead...
In one phrase... It is stupid.
Can the moderator of this forum close this thread. I don't want to discuss this with people who don't know the basic things on how to talk to others. They prefer to be offensive instead of being respectful
I've seen that the new roms release are based on oreo 8.0 not 8.1
I'm thinking if the jump to 8.1 is extremely difficult or HTC just wants to kill his brand with this bad support. I expect that not even HTC 11 had a release for 8.1
Whats happening here?
8.1 vs 8.0 is a big difference - lot of work is needed to have it working. At my work fully working 8.0 system after update to 8.1 was useless, lot of effort was needed to get it running.
So probably they will not do it for Ultra, too much money involved for already dead phone. There should be security updates at least as it's not as hard to implement it.
if they do another update it's probably android p... they still didn't release a stable oreo update for europe.
Android P will never arrive for sure. I've assumed it. So essentially, the only solution to get 8.1 is praying for lineage 15.1 what a pity for HTC.

LOL
Android P should come for U Ultra. And about 8.1... not every phone will receive it. Only those which comes really close to Stock Android like Essential Phone, Nokia, One Plus, etc.
Phones like Galaxy S8, G6, and U Ultra, U11, won't receive Android 8.1.
Any luck with a build?
Guess that's a no
bump
Woot woot
Our guy @Travisholt92 has made a few posts regarding his intent to get Pie for the K20 Plus, with a possibility of skipping porting Pie altogether to get a working ROM on Android 10. But as far as I know he needs to wait for some official releases on similar devices in order to build something that'll work on the K20. Plus some set backs have caused delays needing some equipment to build and test the ROM, esp with 10 requiring Treble compatibility. So, couple that with waning activity on here and people switching to other phones, we may never see P or Q on this K.

Once I order a back camera and H flex ribbon for the rear speaker. I can start working on this device again. Lately I've been working on the Stylo 3 plus which is in the same product family
Project update?
Is there any updates on the project? I hope we see most features working..
Last rom upgrade had a lot of missing features

I wouldn't hold my breath for a Pie ROM for the K20. I'm pretty sure Travisholt92, the last remaining developer on these 'rums, has either moved on to another device or is working on porting Android 10, or both.
