Please forgive this annoying question, but I recently dropped my K20 (and myself) in seawater in a boating "accident" and, obviously, the phone stoped working immediatelly. Opened it, dryed it, cleaned it with IPA, to no avail.
Then, after 10 days, it came back to life. The only thing not working was the FP sensor. So I bought a new one, but the phone still doesn't recognize it. I remember a problem with some phone in the past that when the FP sensor was replaced, it would not recognize it before resetting some partition or something. Does anyone know anything about it? Maybe the new sensor is busted as well, or the connector from the bottom PCB to the upper one is damaged, I know, but any information would be appreciated.

Guys,
Need some help here. A couple of days ago I spilled some water on the navigation buttons on the lower part of my Hermes that was working ok just fine for the last 8 months. Cleaned it up with a towel and everything looked ok for another 3-4 hours when the touch screen graduatelly stopped responding, now is dead. I took everything apart and cleaned all the connectors however I still have the same problem, no improvement of any kind.
I've seen in the forum that some other people had this issue, what I am curios is to hear if anyone was able to fix it. Thinking of replacing the digitizer/lcd..will this fix the problem or there is some other screen driver chip that may be damaged?
Thanks
I recently opened up my HD2 - t-mobile to fix the plastic cover on the flashlight. I followed the official HTC video on how to open it and successfully installed the piece. Then I turned it on and found out that the touchscreen didn't function. I had a look inside but that didn't help. I can't send it back to t-mobile because i already opened it which voids the warranty. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!
Wow...thats...pretty terrible. Make sure that the connector to the touchscreen is firmly seated in it's port and that it's not damaged..and if it is...then consider yourself the lucky new owner of a cracked digitizer! But seriously, if everything LOOKS okay, its probably got a hairline crack, or static has got to it.
Will removing the screen require me to heat my phone and stuff?
I woke up this morning and found that my phone was functioning for a minute then it failed on me.
No, it won't require you to "heat the device" or whatever, and what do you mean it failed on you? It won't do anything now?
Only the touchscreen is malfunctioning so the phone is basically useless.
Hello People,
All of a sudden i am facing a issue with my SGS i9000,
My phone turns the screen OFF when is start a call, Dialing is OK, and the screen goes blank when I hold the phone up to my ear. But at the end of the conversation the screen remains blank, Pressing any buttons wont turn the screen back ON.... after a min or so te screen comes back.. or even when i connect my phone to a charger it works....
what might be the issue? has anyone faced similar problems with their SGS?
I hope there is a solution for this, even the warranty is over for this phone.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Have you found a solution? I have the same issue, I don't know if this is a hardware or software problem. I got back to stock rom (froyo JPY) but that didn't solve the problem...
I had the exact same problem and symptoms as you two described a few months ago with my I9000m. So I got fed up and opened it up and found the ribbon cable connecting the speaker and proximity/light sensor partially torn which is why the speaker was working while the proximity/light sensor was not.
You can also try Z-DeviceTest from the market. There's a proximity/light sensor test.
If you've still got a warranty on the thing, I would take it back to shop and have them deal with it. If your warranty is out then you have to do what I did and buy the part and replace it myself.
Here's the good news though. The module itself is pretty cheap at least on ebay.com (search i9000 speaker parts).
I replaced the one on my I9000m and bought another one of these (one to use as spare) because those ribbon cables seem so flimsy (you'll see what I'm talking about if you actually open it up and see for yourself ).
Thanks! I don't have warranty so I've bought it on a Chinese website ~10$ with shipping costs
I have seen this a few times. What appeared to work for me was simply covering the proximity sensors again with my finger for a second, then uncovering again. I say "appeared" as the timing could be a coincidence - but it has happened maybe 3 or 4 times on my phone - and I waited it out the first time, and each of the other times I did the above and it came right back.
Hi,
HISTORY:
I've had my defy screen shattered a while back and sent it to Motorola for repair (they did a terrible job at that). Ever since I got it back I can see small dust particles accumulating inside the screen. Gradually after a couple of months the top right corner became non-responsive and I left it that way for another 4 months until now!
As the warranty period was over, I thought of trying to clean the dust and see if that works. Unfortunately the connector on the touchscreen(digitizer) broke off and it stopped the touch completely.
My Question:
Is it possible that I had damaged something else(can something else be damaged?) that caused the touchscreen to cease functioning? :crying:
I can change the digitizer after buying it from ebay. But I would hate to waste any more money if this doesn't solve the issue. How likely is it that the touch functionality will be restored if I change the digitizer?
LCD is working fine, and I can use the volume rocker and power button perfectly.
P.S. please don't flame me for asking already answered question, I've been through a lot of threads before opening this one.
Recently my Nexus 6P got some water damage from a canoe trip (even though it was in a water "resistant" pelican case), and was not booting up. Took it to get repaired and the shop cleaned up the corrosion on the bottom of the phone where they said the water damage was. Phone booted up perfectly and everything was working great - wifi, gps, speakers, vibration motor, etc.
A few moments later my wife called me and I answered only to realize that she could not hear anything from my end. The microphone was not working. Took the phone back and they replaced the bottom PCB (daughterboard) of the phone which holds one of the main microphones.
No luck. Now I'm able to use my Nexus 6P for EVERYTHING except making phone calls, which kinda blows. I know I could use bluetooth etc. but that's not really a solution for me.
Does XDA community have any thoughts / ideas about what the problem could be and any possible solutions for me?
Thanks a ton guys!
Nathan
I think your only option is to take it back to the repair shop again.
Shop said that is all they could do for me. The daughterboard is brand new, so if the microphone is still not working, could it be something wrong with the connection to the main board? Would replacing the ribbon cable prove useful?
Thoughts appreciated!
Nathan
Without seeing the device it's very hard to say, but yeah, possibly.
I'm having the similar issue where I went to a foam paarty and got the phone wet. Fortunately everything is working fine except the proximity sensor. Sent phone to Ubreakifix for repair but tjeu couldn't find the part anywhere. Huawei/Google don't provide the replacement part & Huawei don't repair water damaged phone.
If someone could tell me where can I find the Proximity Sensor replacement will be very much appreciated.
Thanks
