Brand new pixel 4, rooted with Magisk.
I can't get dark mode for Gmail or chrome for some reason. I obviously have the dark theme on....
Gmail's really frustrating because I just came from pixel 3 and that's where I spend most of my phone time.

every time I google this, the iOS way stands out. a friend has an iphone and the system color inversion is awesome for night use. however, it seems that google, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to go holo light (which, imo, is awful) and leave no good way to use the system in a dark room/at night.
is there a way to implement this? maybe through xposed? or a theme changer theme (but it'd have to affect all apps, user and system).
I'm sitting in bed in a dark room at night and I have no problems looking at my phone. If I wanted to inverted web pages that exists, otherwise why would I want to view blue people?

With xposedframework xthemeengine or theme choser you can apply lots of dark themes. Then, you can use system interface during day and dark theme at night

but those themes have to be coded for every app... or for example, take chrome: i want websites like google and xda (with their white backgrounds) inverted. yes, i can use tapatalk and theme google search, but i just want to tap a button and invert EVERYTHING
Loving it so far
Did you guys get it yet?
Screenshot? Pics?
IDK what he has looks like but I've been dark for quite sometime. Using swift black theme on Google versin 8.28 .... Got sick of waiting for Google to add something "new" that we rocked back over a decade ago lol.
This is how it looks.

Same for me. However, I've had this for about 2 weeks now.
Where do you change this in the settings? Also, which version of the Google app are you using?
It's been out:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...feed-starting-roll-users-full-dark-theme-tow/
And beta is just getting it now:
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...-the-new-discover-out-to-the-google-beta-app/
That being said, I'm on beta and still have the white cards on dark background. Yes, I've cleared Google app data and toggled display dark mode off and on.

Please help save my Pixel 2 XL. :crying:
The device is constantly rebooting:
It turns on - information about the locked bootloader appears - then the Google logo on a white background, and after 10–15 a reboot.
I tried to flash TWRP through adb, the command line writes ok, the device reboots, but it does not get into the TWRP firmware - it goes into reboot again.
I tried to flash the firmware (flash-all), the process in the command line reaches the end, there are no errors, but again it goes into reboot.
What to do? Help to resurrect.

What twrp file are you flashing? Also, how are you flashing twrp? What commands I mean. Have you tried flashing stock images to both partitions?

So have dark mode on the Google Feed (or discover, now, etc) when accessing it by swiping from the left. But it's still not dark mode when getting to the feed via opening the Google app itself. Is that abnormal?
i guess this only works if you are using the pixel launcher....i use nova and when i open the google app its not in dark mode.

I believe that to be the case. I have a pixel 2 for work and use pixel launcher and it is dark theme. My personal pixel 2 xl also on Nova and Google app is not dark. I have both phones set to dark mode.
I read multiple places that the dark discover feed has to be implemented by google server side. IF thats the case then how come pixel launcher has it ? Does anyone have a dark google feed with nova right now? drives me crazy tahts the onyl not dark part of my phone.
What link to click?
If you use a dark wallpaper then the Google Feed is automatically supposed to switch to dark mode. Try to see if changing your wallpaper to something darker helps
Use substratum (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum) and swiftblack theme (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brit.swiftblack.layers) ... I have all Google apps black (except trips, pay and measure)

If using a dark background worked, I doubt the question would be here. I have this launcher on this phone, and even with a solid black background, Discover is still white. All signs point to it only working on Pixel launcher, for some reason. What that reason is besides someone with design control at Google being painfully stupid.
Notifications and Google apps, if these were dark I could totally like Android. Least the OP6T can get very dim at night.
I do got to say I switched to lawnchair and it works just fine now. all other launchers cept cpl did not including nova prime. Still feel is not a google serverside thing.
Ok. Where do i start? I bought a Samsung s8 from the second hand market a while ago. It has a little screen burn but i can only see it on a white background, if i look closely. After the Pie update i activated dark mode, like any other person would and i could see that the background from my pull down notifications is grey, like washed out or somethin'. This is also the case in the phone settings. Every other app that has dark mode looks super good , like messenger and youtube. Does anybody else knows how to fix this issue?
That's correct, same on Pie on both my A8(2018) and S10e. Don't know why it'd be different on the S8.
Has anyone successfully gotten dark mode working on Gmail on the T-Mobile one plus pro 5g?
Oh man I feel your pain on this one. It's the only app that isn't dark for me, and it's extremely annoying. The one option you have right now is system -> developer options -> Override force-dark which makes everything dark, even gmail, but also looks a little weird in my opinion.
I had dark mode with the Galaxy S10 and the OnePlus 7T but lost it when I did the JOD upgrade to this. I'd us the force override dark mode but it makes the text on Facebook white on white and it's impossible to see.
Use swift installer to theme your apps. Works well on my 7t
Dark mode was not working for me either. However, I just rooted and started restoring my apps and some data...now it works perfectly fine. And this is the "normal" dark mode for Gmail. I did not restore the Gmail app data either. I don't know. Maybe clear the data and load it back up??
I cleared cache and data. Restarted app. Brought it back up and running again. Rebooted.
Dark mode now.
Hope this helps.
it just started working, Dark mode is now enabled for gmail.
no root, no clear cache, no clear data. nothing. just working

Yeah, something must have been turned on in the background. My horizon light also works now for everything. Not just the built-in messages app, like others have claimed.
