Ok. Where do i start? I bought a Samsung s8 from the second hand market a while ago. It has a little screen burn but i can only see it on a white background, if i look closely. After the Pie update i activated dark mode, like any other person would and i could see that the background from my pull down notifications is grey, like washed out or somethin'. This is also the case in the phone settings. Every other app that has dark mode looks super good , like messenger and youtube. Does anybody else knows how to fix this issue?
That's correct, same on Pie on both my A8(2018) and S10e. Don't know why it'd be different on the S8.

Hi All !
I'm from India and I just got my new Galaxy S8 in Midnight Black variant. I basically have 2 queries :
1. Is there any way by which you can customize the colors of the edge panel lighting?
Like for example: In the S7 Edge, you could assign colors to specific contacts and application notifications. I cant seem to find the same for this phone.
2. Is there any way by which we can customize the notification LED to specific colors ? Like for example you can assign a specific color to a specific application or contact ?
I really cant find these 2 things. I'd be disappointed if there aren't any options to edit these. My LG G3 had the option for the Notification LED and the older S7 Edge and Note series also had it.
Can anyone throw some more light onto this matter?
Thanks !
Hi,
Not sure I can answer point 1 but point 2, you definitely can with the use of an app, I use Light Flow, there is a paid/pro version but I basically have it set up to flash different colours for different apps, green for Whatsapp, Blue for Facebook, and even have certain colours based on specific contacts so at a quick glance you can determine who sent you what, it's great for sure

That's exactly what I'm looking for. It sucks that a flagship phone does not have some of the most useful features that the earlier ones had. I hope someone can answer for the edge lighting as well.
Edge Lighting notifications and colors are dependent on your theme and wallpaper color. It is likely that Samsung will probably roll out an update at some point on the Edge Screen APK (bundled with edge notifications) to have some more customization. Something I would like to see would at the very least have the edge lighting and the new pill-style notifications pull the color from the app icon/logo colors.

Since last update you can customize color of edge lightning..but still not the led light.
Hi guys,
So I've just installed the latest S8 update, which killed the color picker for the navbar and essentially gives you all white colors (Screenshot attached). Even if I use "Apply current theme", it's still white in some apps (e.g. Play Store, Instagram, Snapchat, Whatsapp many more). So I've downloaded "Navbar Apps" and it does the job of getting my navbar to a full black, but only sometimes. Im using a dark theme and have been using black navbars since they existed (why does Samsung even have white ones lolol) and navbar apps doesn't work 50% of the time and doesn't have the "ripple" animation when pressed, so I would really like a stable, solid black navbar. Any ideas? Thanks!
Same thing here...
The best thing would be to make it translucent IMO.

Lol, thanks that actually worked (although I had to sacrifice the ripple animation). Still looking for a more seamless way to fix this though. To anyone interested: here's how I set it up (Screenshot attached). Can't really notice the translucency, but it looks black and that's what I'm going for.
Cheers!
I got a Zuk Edge yesterday it came with Android 7.0 out of the box ZUI 2.5 and the phone is really great, fast, smooth, gorgeous display etc.
But i am having some small yet bothersome issues, first one is the movies app Flixter says it can not find location, and when i input my postal code or city it says i need to be more specific. Second is i only sometimes get notifications and the only way to solve this seems to be to lock the apps so they stay open a la xiaomi Miui style. Third is the wallpaper, when i put a wall paper on, it gives me the colour of the frame rather than the picture. so basically on the lock screen there is the picture in the middle and some colour around it, on the background it only gives me the colour of the background.
Honestly none of these issues are a bi deal but it would be nice to fix them if possible. Anyone encounter these issues and found a solution? Any ideas?
TIA.

I Have The Zuk Z2 And I Had Some Of The Same Problems. If You Want To See Your Wallpaper Without That Burry Effect, Just Put HD Wallpapers, Turn That On And It Will Work. The Only Way To Fix The Notification Problem Is To Flash A Custom ROM, That's What I Did On My Zuk Z2
Hello guys,
I was hoping to know if you also have this effect on your oneplus 5's.
The best way to describe is when you are on dark screens like twitter's night mode and you have some images with dark margins.
When you scroll up or down, does it appear a trail that disappears after some miliseconds? Like the screen refreshing itself making that trail disappear.
If you wanna try do this: twitter, night mode, follow for instance Nvidia (his logo is black and dark). Then go to home screen of twitter and try to find a nvidia's twitt. When you find it, look to his logo and go up and down. Do you notice something on the image itself? Like a trail of black pixels or blur effect that disappear after a while?
Hope that you can understand me.
Edit: don't know if I can post links here, if not please tell me that I remove it. This link is from Reddit where it appears an image where you can try this effect:

Edit 2: it appears that the effect is more visible on low screen brightness
Best regards.

Yes, I have noticed it as well though I also had it on my OP3. I think it is more of a thing with OLED screens and low brightness.

Yes, I agree. As this happened on my note 4 as well as my axon 7, oneplus 3 and oneplus 5
Yep, I've experienced that once. Dark purple logo on black screen
It happens on Amoled screens when the backlight is low. I have seen the same thing on all my Samsung phones as well.
I also confirm, low brithness OLED screen (samsung s3, s4, s5, s7, op3, op5)
oled are good for low battery consumption and high contrast ratio (blacks).
Otherwise, lcd pannels will be faster and more accurate with colors.
I came from an S7 EDGE and I just got my OP5 and there's something I hate about my new phone. Every photos videos on YouTube, Reddit , internet in general looks washed out. The colors are good but when you pay attention, you can see the same artefacts you see on a highly compressed video/photo. In other words, the screen looks like it's not even a 8 bit color panel. Do you guys know a solution about this? I never saw this problem on any phone ( I'm a cellphone seller in Canada ), not even on my S7 EDGE, Alcatel IDOL 3, Nexus 5
Maybe it's because it's pentile or something
You might want to change the screen calibration method under settings / display and see if that helps at all.
Unfortunately the problem is still existent. Look at the uploaded screenshot with your phone The colors on the dialer supposed to be gradient but it's not. That my problem .

The dialer looks lighter at the top and darker at the bottom--are you saying there isn't enough transition between the two or that the colors in the screenshot are inaccurate? You might want to do a search for gradient android dialers (which should have screenshots) to verify the problem is with the phone rather than with the specific app you are using. All of the gradient screenshots I pulled up looked fine on my phone but the color changes were a lot more subtle than the one you provided. It's possible you have a bad display or that it's calibrated incorrectly for some reason. I've never noticed any problems with the colors on my OP5 and never read a complaint similar to yours.
You might want to make sure Night Mode or Reading Mode aren't on in settings because both would affect the colors.
Also make sure ambient display is off to verify that isn't doing anything screwy.
Have you rooted your phone or installed a custom kernel or anything like that? Do the colors look exactly the same when you boot into safe mode?
I see the banding in the dialer (the background where the dialpad is). Given that it's a screenshot though, that part is likely to be how OnePlus designed the dialer app (screen issues wouldn't show up in a screenshot).
